1 Soon afterward, Jesus traveled from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of God. 4 While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, He told them this parable: And when a great crowd was gathering and people from town after town came to him, he said in a parable, And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake by a parable: Now when a large crowd was coming together, and those from the various cities were journeying to Him, He spoke by way of a parable: While a large crowd was gathering and people were coming to Jesus from town after town, he told this parable:
5 “ A farmer went out to sow his seed. And as he was sowing, some seed fell along the path, where it was trampled, and the birds of the air devoured it. “A sower went out to sow his seed. 6 Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the seedlings withered because they had no moisture. And some fell on the rock, and as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. Other <i>seed</i> fell on rocky <i>soil,</i> and when it came up, it withered away because it had no moisture. Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they had no moisture.
7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the seedlings. And some fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up with it and choked it. And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. Other <i>seed</i> fell among the thorns; and the thorns grew up with it and choked it out. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants.
8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it sprang up and produced a crop— a hundredfold. As Jesus said this, He called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear. And some fell into good soil and grew and yielded a hundredfold.” As he said these things, he called out, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.” And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. And <i>yet</i> other <i>seed</i> fell into the good soil, and grew up, and produced a crop a hundred times as much.” As He said these things, He would call out, “The one who has ears to hear, let him hear.” Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.” When he said this, he called out, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

10 He replied, “The knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, ‘though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.’ he said, “To you it has been given to know the secrets of the kingdom of God, but for others they are in parables, so that ‘seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.’ And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. And He said, “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest <i>they are told</i> in parables, so that while seeing they may not see, and while hearing they may not understand. He said, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of God has been given to you, but to others I speak in parables, so that, “’though seeing, they may not see; though hearing, they may not understand.’
11 Now this is the meaning of the parable: The seed is the word of God. Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 The seeds along the path are those who hear, but the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. The ones along the path are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved. Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. And those beside the road are the ones who have heard, then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved. Those along the path are the ones who hear, and then the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts, so that they may not believe and be saved.
13 The seeds on rocky ground are those who hear the word and receive it with joy, but they have no root. They believe for a season, but in the time of testing, they fall away. And the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear the word, receive it with joy. But these have no root; they believe for a while, and in time of testing fall away. They on the rock <i>are they</i>, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. Those on the rocky <i>soil are</i> the ones who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and <i>yet</i> these do not have a <i>firm</i> root; they believe for a while, and in a time of temptation they fall away. Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.
14 The seeds that fell among the thorns are those who hear, but as they go on their way, they are choked by the worries, riches, and pleasures of this life, and their fruit does not mature. And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of <i>this</i> life, and bring no fruit to perfection. And the <i>seed</i> which fell among the thorns, these are the ones who have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked by worries, riches, and pleasures of <i>this</i> life, and they bring no fruit to maturity. The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches and pleasures, and they do not mature.
15 But the seeds on good soil are those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, cling to it, and by persevering produce a crop. As for that in the good soil, they are those who, hearing the word, hold it fast in an honest and good heart, and bear fruit with patience. But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep <i>it</i>, and bring forth fruit with patience. But the <i>seed</i> in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word with a good and virtuous heart, and hold it firmly, and produce fruit with perseverance. But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
16 No one lights a lamp and covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he sets it on a stand, so those who enter can see the light. “No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light. No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth <i>it</i> under a bed; but setteth <i>it</i> on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light. “Now no one lights a lamp and covers it over with a container, or puts it under a bed; but he puts it on a lampstand so that those who come in may see the light. “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a clay jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, they put it on a stand, so that those who come in can see the light.
17 For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be made known and brought to light. For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light. For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither <i>any thing</i> hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. For nothing is concealed that will not become evident, nor <i>anything</i> hidden that will not be known and come to light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be disclosed, and nothing concealed that will not be known or brought out into the open.
18 Pay attention, therefore, to how you listen. Whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him. Take care then how you hear, for to the one who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he thinks that he has will be taken away.” Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have. So take care how you listen; for whoever has, to him <i>more</i> will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.” Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them.”
19 Then Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see Him, but they were unable to reach Him because of the crowd. Then his mother and his brothers came to him, but they could not reach him because of the crowd. Then came to him <i>his</i> mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press. Now His mother and brothers came to Him, and they were unable to get to Him because of the crowd. Now Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see him, but they were not able to get near him because of the crowd.
20 He was told, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see You. And he was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, desiring to see you.” And it was told him <i>by certain</i> which said, Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee. And it was reported to Him, “Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, wishing to see You.” Someone told him, “Your mother and brothers are standing outside, wanting to see you.”
21 But He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear the word of God and carry it out. But he answered them, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.” And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of God, and do it. But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do <i>it.</i>” He replied, “My mother and brothers are those who hear God’s word and put it into practice.”
22 One day Jesus said to His disciples, “Let us cross to the other side of the lake. So He got into a boat with them and set out. One day he got into a boat with his disciples, and he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side of the lake.” So they set out, Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they launched forth. Now on one of <i>those</i> days Jesus and His disciples got into a boat, and He said to them, “Let’s cross over to the other side of the lake.” So they launched out. One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out.
23 As they sailed, He fell asleep, and a windstorm came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. and as they sailed he fell asleep. And a windstorm came down on the lake, and they were filling with water and were in danger. But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled <i>with water</i>, and were in jeopardy. But as they were sailing along He fell asleep; and a fierce gale of wind descended on the lake, and they <i>began</i> to be swamped and to be in danger. As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
24 The disciples went and woke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing! Then Jesus got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters, and they subsided, and all was calm. And they went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And he awoke and rebuked the wind and the raging waves, and they ceased, and there was a calm. And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm. They came up to <i>Jesus</i> and woke Him, saying, “Master, Master, we are perishing!” And He got up and rebuked the wind and the surging waves, and they stopped, and it became calm. The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm.
25 “Where is your faith? He asked. Frightened and amazed, they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him! He said to them, “Where is your faith?” And they were afraid, and they marveled, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that he commands even winds and water, and they obey him?” And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him. And He said to them, “Where is your faith?” But they were fearful and amazed, saying to one another, “Who then is this, that He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey Him?” “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
26 Then they sailed to the region of the Gerasenes, across the lake from Galilee. Then they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. And they arrived at the country of the Gadarenes, which is over against Galilee. Then they sailed to the country of the Gerasenes, which is opposite Galilee. They sailed to the region of the Gerasenes, which is across the lake from Galilee.
27 When Jesus stepped ashore, He was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothing or lived in a house, but he stayed in the tombs. When Jesus had stepped out on land, there met him a man from the city who had demons. For a long time he had worn no clothes, and he had not lived in a house but among the tombs. And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in <i>any</i> house, but in the tombs. And when He stepped out onto the land, a man from the city met Him who was possessed with demons; and he had not put on clothing for a long time and was not living in a house, but among the tombs. When Jesus stepped ashore, he was met by a demon-possessed man from the town. For a long time this man had not worn clothes or lived in a house, but had lived in the tombs.
28 When the man saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before Him, shouting in a loud voice, “What do You want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You not to torture me! When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him and said with a loud voice, “What have you to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, do not torment me.” When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, <i>thou</i> Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. And seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell down before Him, and said with a loud voice, “What business do You have with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg You, do not torment me!” When he saw Jesus, he cried out and fell at his feet, shouting at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I beg you, don’t torture me!”
29 For Jesus had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was bound with chains and shackles, he had broken the chains and been driven by the demon into solitary places. For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. (For many a time it had seized him. He was kept under guard and bound with chains and shackles, but he would break the bonds and be driven by the demon into the desert.) (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.) For He <i>had already</i> commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For it had seized him many times; and he was bound with chains and shackles and kept under guard, and <i>yet</i> he would break the restraints and be driven by the demon into the desert. For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places.
30 “What is your name? Jesus asked. “Legion, he replied, because many demons had gone into him. Jesus then asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion,” for many demons had entered him. And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. And Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Legion”; because many demons had entered him. Jesus asked him, “What is your name?” “Legion,” he replied, because many demons had gone into him.
31 And the demons kept begging Jesus not to order them to go into the Abyss. And they begged him not to command them to depart into the abyss. And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep. And they were begging Him not to command them to go away into the abyss. And they begged Jesus repeatedly not to order them to go into the Abyss.
32 There on the hillside a large herd of pigs was feeding. So the demons begged Jesus to let them enter the pigs, and He gave them permission. Now a large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside, and they begged him to let them enter these. So he gave them permission. And there was there an herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them. Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding there on the mountain; and <i>the demons</i> begged Him to permit them to enter the pigs. And He gave them permission. A large herd of pigs was feeding there on the hillside. The demons begged Jesus to let them go into the pigs, and he gave them permission.
33 Then the demons came out of the man and went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and was drowned. Then the demons came out of the man and entered the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and drowned. Then went the devils out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked. 34 When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside. Now when the herdsmen saw what had happened, they ran away and reported <i>everything</i> in the city, and in the country. When those tending the pigs saw what had happened, they ran off and reported this in the town and countryside,
35 So the people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man whom the demons had left, sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. Then people went out to see what had happened, and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind, and they were afraid. Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. And <i>the people</i> came out to see what had happened; and they came to Jesus and found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting down at the feet of Jesus, clothed and in his right mind; and they became frightened. and the people went out to see what had happened. When they came to Jesus, they found the man from whom the demons had gone out, sitting at Jesus’ feet, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
36 Meanwhile, those who had seen it reported how the demon-possessed man had been healed. And those who had seen it told them how the demon-possessed man had been healed. They also which saw <i>it</i> told them by what means he that was possessed of the devils was healed. Those who had seen <i>everything</i> reported to them how the man who had been demon-possessed had been made well. Those who had seen it told the people how the demon-possessed man had been cured.
37 Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to depart from them, because great fear had taken hold of them. So He got into the boat and started back. Then all the people of the surrounding country of the Gerasenes asked him to depart from them, for they were seized with great fear. So he got into the boat and returned. Then the whole multitude of the country of the Gadarenes round about besought him to depart from them; for they were taken with great fear: and he went up into the ship, and returned back again. And all the people of the territory of the Gerasenes and the surrounding region asked Him to leave them, because they were overwhelmed by great fear; and He got into a boat and returned. Then all the people of the region of the Gerasenes asked Jesus to leave them, because they were overcome with fear. So he got into the boat and left.
38 The man whom the demons had left begged to go with Jesus. But He sent him away, saying, The man from whom the demons had gone begged that he might be with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, Now the man out of whom the devils were departed besought him that he might be with him: but Jesus sent him away, saying, But the man from whom the demons had gone out was begging Him that he might accompany Him; but <i>Jesus</i> sent him away, saying, The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying,
39 “Return home and describe how much God has done for you. So the man went away and proclaimed all over the town how much Jesus had done for him. “Return to your home, and declare how much God has done for you.” And he went away, proclaiming throughout the whole city how much Jesus had done for him. Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him. “Return to your home and describe what great things God has done for you.” So he went away, proclaiming throughout the city what great things Jesus had done for him. “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him.
40 When Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed Him, for they had all been waiting for Him. Now when Jesus returned, the crowd welcomed him, for they were all waiting for him. And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people <i>gladly</i> received him: for they were all waiting for him. And as Jesus was returning, the people welcomed Him, for they had all been waiting for Him. Now when Jesus returned, a crowd welcomed him, for they were all expecting him.
41 Just then a synagogue leader named Jairus came and fell at Jesus’ feet. He begged Him to come to his house, And there came a man named Jairus, who was a ruler of the synagogue. And falling at Jesus’ feet, he implored him to come to his house, And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus' feet, and besought him that he would come into his house: And a man named Jairus came, and he was an official of the synagogue; and he fell at Jesus’ feet, and <i>began</i> urging Him to come to his house; Then a man named Jairus, a synagogue leader, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come to his house
42 because his only daughter, who was about twelve, was dying. As Jesus went with him, the crowds pressed around Him, for he had an only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she was dying. As Jesus went, the people pressed around him. For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him. for he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. But as He went, the crowds were pressing against Him. because his only daughter, a girl of about twelve, was dying. As Jesus was on his way, the crowds almost crushed him.
43 including a woman who had suffered from bleeding for twelve years. She had spent all her money on physicians, but no one was able to heal her. And there was a woman who had had a discharge of blood for twelve years, and though she had spent all her living on physicians, she could not be healed by anyone. And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, And a woman who had suffered a <i>chronic</i> flow of blood for twelve years, and could not be healed by anyone, And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her.
44 She came up behind Jesus and touched the fringe of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately her discharge of blood ceased. 45 “Who touched Me? Jesus asked. But they all denied it. “Master, said Peter, “the people are crowding and pressing against You. And Jesus said, “Who was it that touched me?” When all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the crowds surround you and are pressing in on you!” And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press <i>thee</i>, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And Jesus said, “Who is the one who touched Me?” And while they were all denying it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing in on You.” “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.”
46 But Jesus declared, “Someone touched Me, for I know that power has gone out from Me. But Jesus said, “Someone touched me, for I perceive that power has gone out from me.” And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. But Jesus said, “Someone did touch Me, for I was aware that power had left Me.” But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.”
47 Then the woman, seeing that she could not escape notice, came trembling and fell down before Him. In the presence of all the people, she explained why she had touched Him and how she had immediately been healed. And when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling, and falling down before him declared in the presence of all the people why she had touched him, and how she had been immediately healed. Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed.
48 “Daughter, said Jesus, “your faith has healed you. Go in peace. And he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.” And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. And He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace.” Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
49 While He was still speaking, someone arrived from the house of the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead, he told Jairus. “Do not bother the Teacher anymore. While he was still speaking, someone from the ruler’s house came and said, “Your daughter is dead; do not trouble the Teacher any more.” While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's <i>house</i>, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. While He was still speaking, someone came from <i>the house of</i> the synagogue official, saying, “Your daughter has died; do not trouble the Teacher anymore.” While Jesus was still speaking, someone came from the house of Jairus, the synagogue leader. “Your daughter is dead,” he said. “Don’t bother the teacher anymore.”
50 But Jesus overheard them and said to Jairus, “Do not be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed. But Jesus on hearing this answered him, “Do not fear; only believe, and she will be well.” But when Jesus heard <i>it</i>, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. But when Jesus heard <i>this,</i> He responded to him, “Do not be afraid <i>any longer;</i> only believe, and she will be made well.” Hearing this, Jesus said to Jairus, “Don’t be afraid; just believe, and she will be healed.”
51 When He entered the house, He did not allow anyone to go in with Him except Peter, John, James, and the child’s father and mother. And when he came to the house, he allowed no one to enter with him, except Peter and John and James, and the father and mother of the child. And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. When He came to the house, He did not allow anyone to enter with Him except Peter, John, and James, and the girl’s father and mother. When he arrived at the house of Jairus, he did not let anyone go in with him except Peter, John and James, and the child’s father and mother.
52 Meanwhile, everyone was weeping and mourning for her. But Jesus said, “ Stop weeping; she is not dead but asleep. And all were weeping and mourning for her, but he said, “Do not weep, for she is not dead but sleeping.” And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. Now they were all weeping and mourning for her; but He said, “Stop weeping, for she has not died, but is asleep.” Meanwhile, all the people were wailing and mourning for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.”
53 And they laughed at Him, knowing that she was dead. And they laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. And they <i>began</i> laughing at Him, knowing that she had died. They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead.
54 But Jesus took her by the hand and called out, “Child, get up! But taking her by the hand he called, saying, “Child, arise.” And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. He, however, took her by the hand and spoke forcefully, saying, “Child, arise!” But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!”
55 Her spirit returned, and at once she got up. And He directed that she be given something to eat. And her spirit returned, and she got up at once. And he directed that something should be given her to eat. And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. And her spirit returned, and she got up immediately; and He ordered that <i>something</i> be given her to eat. Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. Then Jesus told them to give her something to eat.
56 Her parents were astounded, but Jesus ordered them not to tell anyone what had happened. And her parents were amazed, but he charged them to tell no one what had happened. And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done. Her parents were amazed; but He instructed them to tell no one what had happened.
