Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. | 1How blessed are those whose actions are blameless, who obey the law of the LORD. |
Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart-- | 2How blessed are those who observe his rules, and seek him with all their heart, |
they do no wrong but follow his ways. | 3who, moreover, do no wrong, but follow in his footsteps. |
You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. | 4You demand that your precepts be carefully kept. |
Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees! | 5If only I were predisposed to keep your statutes! |
Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands. | 6Then I would not be ashamed, if I were focused on all your commands. |
I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws. | 7I will give you sincere thanks, when I learn your just regulations. |
I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me. | 8I will keep your statutes. Do not completely abandon me! |
How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. | 9How can a young person maintain a pure life? By guarding it according to your instructions! |
I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. | 10With all my heart I seek you. Do not allow me to stray from your commands! |
I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. | 11In my heart I store up your words, so I might not sin against you. |
Praise be to you, LORD; teach me your decrees. | 12You deserve praise, O LORD! Teach me your statutes! |
With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. | 13With my lips I proclaim all the regulations you have revealed. |
I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. | 14I rejoice in the lifestyle prescribed by your rules as if they were riches of all kinds. |
I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. | 15I will meditate on your precepts and focus on your behavior. |
I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. | 16I find delight in your statutes; I do not forget your instructions. |
Be good to your servant while I live, that I may obey your word. | 17Be kind to your servant! Then I will live and keep your instructions. |
Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. | 18Open my eyes so I can truly see the marvelous things in your law! |
I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me. | 19I am like a foreigner in this land. Do not hide your commands from me! |
My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times. | 20I desperately long to know your regulations at all times. |
You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed, those who stray from your commands. | 21You reprimand arrogant people. Those who stray from your commands are doomed. |
Remove from me their scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes. | 22Spare me shame and humiliation, for I observe your rules. |
Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees. | 23Though rulers plot and slander me, your servant meditates on your statutes. |
Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors. | 24Yes, I find delight in your rules; they give me guidance. |
I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word. | 25I collapse in the dirt. Revive me with your word! |
I gave an account of my ways and you answered me; teach me your decrees. | 26I told you about my ways and you answered me. Teach me your statutes! |
Cause me to understand the way of your precepts, that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds. | 27Help me to understand what your precepts mean! Then I can meditate on your marvelous teachings. |
My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. | 28I collapse from grief. Sustain me by your word! |
Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law. | 29Remove me from the path of deceit! Graciously give me your law! |
I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. | 30I choose the path of faithfulness; I am committed to your regulations. |
I hold fast to your statutes, LORD; do not let me be put to shame. | 31I hold fast to your rules. O LORD, do not let me be ashamed! |
I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding. | 32I run along the path of your commands, for you enable me to do so. |
Teach me, LORD, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. | 33Teach me, O LORD, the lifestyle prescribed by your statutes, so that I might observe it continually. |
Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. | 34Give me understanding so that I might observe your law, and keep it with all my heart. |
Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. | 35Guide me in the path of your commands, for I delight to walk in it. |
Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. | 36Give me a desire for your rules, rather than for wealth gained unjustly. |
Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. | 37Turn my eyes away from what is worthless! Revive me with your word! |
Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared. | 38Confirm to your servant your promise, which you made to the one who honors you. |
Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good. | 39Take away the insults that I dread! Indeed, your regulations are good. |
How I long for your precepts! In your righteousness preserve my life. | 40Look, I long for your precepts. Revive me with your deliverance! |
May your unfailing love come to me, LORD, your salvation, according to your promise; | 41May I experience your loyal love, O LORD, and your deliverance, as you promised. |
then I can answer anyone who taunts me, for I trust in your word. | 42Then I will have a reply for the one who insults me, for I trust in your word. |
Never take your word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. | 43Do not completely deprive me of a truthful testimony, for I await your justice. |
I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. | 44Then I will keep your law continually now and for all time. |
I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. | 45I will be secure, for I seek your precepts. |
I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, | 46I will speak about your regulations before kings and not be ashamed. |
for I delight in your commands because I love them. | 47I will find delight in your commands, which I love. |
I reach out for your commands, which I love, that I may meditate on your decrees. | 48I will lift my hands to your commands, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes. |
Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. | 49Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. |
My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. | 50This is what comforts me in my trouble, for your promise revives me. |
The arrogant mock me unmercifully, but I do not turn from your law. | 51Arrogant people do nothing but scoff at me. Yet I do not turn aside from your law. |
I remember, LORD, your ancient laws, and I find comfort in them. | 52I remember your ancient regulations, O LORD, and console myself. |
Indignation grips me because of the wicked, who have forsaken your law. | 53Rage takes hold of me because of the wicked, those who reject your law. |
Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge. | 54Your statutes have been my songs in the house where I live. |
In the night, LORD, I remember your name, that I may keep your law. | 55I remember your name during the night, O LORD, and I will keep your law. |
This has been my practice: I obey your precepts. | 56This has been my practice, for I observe your precepts. |
You are my portion, LORD; I have promised to obey your words. | 57The LORD is my source of security. I have determined to follow your instructions. |
I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. | 58I seek your favor with all my heart. Have mercy on me as you promised! |
I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes. | 59I consider my actions and follow your rules. |
I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands. | 60I keep your commands eagerly and without delay. |
Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law. | 61The ropes of the wicked tighten around me, but I do not forget your law. |
At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws. | 62In the middle of the night I arise to thank you for your just regulations. |
I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts. | 63I am a friend to all your loyal followers, and to those who keep your precepts. |
The earth is filled with your love, LORD; teach me your decrees. | 64O LORD, your loyal love fills the earth. Teach me your statutes! |
Do good to your servant according to your word, LORD. | 65You are good to your servant, O LORD, just as you promised. |
Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I trust your commands. | 66Teach me proper discernment and understanding! For I consider your commands to be reliable. |
Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word. | 67Before I was afflicted I used to stray off, but now I keep your instructions. |
You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees. | 68You are good and you do good. Teach me your statutes! |
Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart. | 69Arrogant people smear my reputation with lies, but I observe your precepts with all my heart. |
Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law. | 70Their hearts are calloused, but I find delight in your law. |
It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. | 71It was good for me to suffer, so that I might learn your statutes. |
The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. | 72The law you have revealed is more important to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. |
Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands. | 73Your hands made me and formed me. Give me understanding so that I might learn your commands. |
May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word. | 74Your loyal followers will be glad when they see me, for I find hope in your word. |
I know, LORD, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. | 75I know, LORD, that your regulations are just. You disciplined me because of your faithful devotion to me. |
May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. | 76May your loyal love console me, as you promised your servant. |
Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight. | 77May I experience your compassion, so I might live! For I find delight in your law. |
May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause; but I will meditate on your precepts. | 78May the arrogant be humiliated, for they have slandered me! But I meditate on your precepts. |
May those who fear you turn to me, those who understand your statutes. | 79May your loyal followers turn to me, those who know your rules. |
May I wholeheartedly follow your decrees, that I may not be put to shame. | 80May I be fully committed to your statutes, so that I might not be ashamed. |
My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word. | 81I desperately long for your deliverance. I find hope in your word. |
My eyes fail, looking for your promise; I say, "When will you comfort me?" | 82My eyes grow tired as I wait for your promise to be fulfilled. I say, "When will you comfort me?" |
Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your decrees. | 83For I am like a wineskin dried up in smoke. I do not forget your statutes. |
How long must your servant wait? When will you punish my persecutors? | 84How long must your servant endure this? When will you judge those who pursue me? |
The arrogant dig pits to trap me, contrary to your law. | 85The arrogant dig pits to trap me, which violates your law. |
All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for I am being persecuted without cause. | 86All your commands are reliable. I am pursued without reason. Help me! |
They almost wiped me from the earth, but I have not forsaken your precepts. | 87They have almost destroyed me here on the earth, but I do not reject your precepts. |
In your unfailing love preserve my life, that I may obey the statutes of your mouth. | 88Revive me with your loyal love, that I might keep the rules you have revealed. |
Your word, LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. | 89O LORD, your instructions endure; they stand secure in heaven. |
Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. | 90You demonstrate your faithfulness to all generations. You established the earth and it stood firm. |
Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you. | 91Today they stand firm by your decrees, for all things are your servants. |
If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. | 92If I had not found encouragement in your law, I would have died in my sorrow. |
I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life. | 93I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have revived me. |
Save me, for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts. | 94I belong to you. Deliver me! For I seek your precepts. |
The wicked are waiting to destroy me, but I will ponder your statutes. | 95The wicked prepare to kill me, yet I concentrate on your rules. |
To all perfection I see a limit, but your commands are boundless. | 96I realize that everything has its limits, but your commands are beyond full comprehension. |
Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. | 97O how I love your law! All day long I meditate on it. |

I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. | 101I stay away from the evil path, so that I might keep your instructions. |
I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me. | 102I do not turn aside from your regulations, for you teach me. |
How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! | 103Your words are sweeter in my mouth than honey! |
I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. | 104Your precepts give me discernment. Therefore I hate all deceitful actions. |
Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. | 105Your word is a lamp to walk by, and a light to illumine my path. |
I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. | 106I have vowed and solemnly sworn to keep your just regulations. |
I have suffered much; preserve my life, LORD, according to your word. | 107I am suffering terribly. O LORD, revive me with your word! |
Accept, LORD, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. | 108O LORD, please accept the freewill offerings of my praise! Teach me your regulations! |
Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. | 109My life is in continual danger, but I do not forget your law. |
The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts. | 110The wicked lay a trap for me, but I do not wander from your precepts. |

You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. | 114You are my hiding place and my shield. I find hope in your word. |
Away from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commands of my God! | 115Turn away from me, you evil men, so that I can observe the commands of my God. |
Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed. | 116Sustain me as you promised, so that I will live. Do not disappoint me! |
Uphold me, and I will be delivered; I will always have regard for your decrees. | 117Support me, so that I will be delivered. Then I will focus on your statutes continually. |
You reject all who stray from your decrees, for their delusions come to nothing. | 118You despise all who stray from your statutes, for they are deceptive and unreliable. |
All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross; therefore I love your statutes. | 119You remove all the wicked of the earth like slag. Therefore I love your rules. |
My flesh trembles in fear of you; I stand in awe of your laws. | 120My body trembles because I fear you; I am afraid of your judgments. |

It is time for you to act, LORD; your law is being broken. | 126It is time for the LORD to act--they break your law! |
Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold, | 127For this reason I love your commands more than gold, even purest gold. |

Those who devise wicked schemes are near, but they are far from your law. | 150Those who are eager to do wrong draw near; they are far from your law. |
Yet you are near, LORD, and all your commands are true. | 151You are near, O LORD, and all your commands are reliable. |
