How blessed are those whose actions are blameless, who obey the law of the LORD. | 1Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the LORD. |
How blessed are those who observe his rules, and seek him with all their heart, | 2Blessed are those who keep his statutes and seek him with all their heart-- |
who, moreover, do no wrong, but follow in his footsteps. | 3they do no wrong but follow his ways. |
You demand that your precepts be carefully kept. | 4You have laid down precepts that are to be fully obeyed. |
If only I were predisposed to keep your statutes! | 5Oh, that my ways were steadfast in obeying your decrees! |
Then I would not be ashamed, if I were focused on all your commands. | 6Then I would not be put to shame when I consider all your commands. |
I will give you sincere thanks, when I learn your just regulations. | 7I will praise you with an upright heart as I learn your righteous laws. |
I will keep your statutes. Do not completely abandon me! | 8I will obey your decrees; do not utterly forsake me. |
How can a young person maintain a pure life? By guarding it according to your instructions! | 9How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. |
With all my heart I seek you. Do not allow me to stray from your commands! | 10I seek you with all my heart; do not let me stray from your commands. |
In my heart I store up your words, so I might not sin against you. | 11I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. |
You deserve praise, O LORD! Teach me your statutes! | 12Praise be to you, LORD; teach me your decrees. |
With my lips I proclaim all the regulations you have revealed. | 13With my lips I recount all the laws that come from your mouth. |
I rejoice in the lifestyle prescribed by your rules as if they were riches of all kinds. | 14I rejoice in following your statutes as one rejoices in great riches. |
I will meditate on your precepts and focus on your behavior. | 15I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. |
I find delight in your statutes; I do not forget your instructions. | 16I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word. |
Be kind to your servant! Then I will live and keep your instructions. | 17Be good to your servant while I live, that I may obey your word. |
Open my eyes so I can truly see the marvelous things in your law! | 18Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law. |
I am like a foreigner in this land. Do not hide your commands from me! | 19I am a stranger on earth; do not hide your commands from me. |
I desperately long to know your regulations at all times. | 20My soul is consumed with longing for your laws at all times. |
You reprimand arrogant people. Those who stray from your commands are doomed. | 21You rebuke the arrogant, who are accursed, those who stray from your commands. |
Spare me shame and humiliation, for I observe your rules. | 22Remove from me their scorn and contempt, for I keep your statutes. |
Though rulers plot and slander me, your servant meditates on your statutes. | 23Though rulers sit together and slander me, your servant will meditate on your decrees. |
Yes, I find delight in your rules; they give me guidance. | 24Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors. |
I collapse in the dirt. Revive me with your word! | 25I am laid low in the dust; preserve my life according to your word. |
I told you about my ways and you answered me. Teach me your statutes! | 26I gave an account of my ways and you answered me; teach me your decrees. |
Help me to understand what your precepts mean! Then I can meditate on your marvelous teachings. | 27Cause me to understand the way of your precepts, that I may meditate on your wonderful deeds. |
I collapse from grief. Sustain me by your word! | 28My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word. |
Remove me from the path of deceit! Graciously give me your law! | 29Keep me from deceitful ways; be gracious to me and teach me your law. |
I choose the path of faithfulness; I am committed to your regulations. | 30I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. |
I hold fast to your rules. O LORD, do not let me be ashamed! | 31I hold fast to your statutes, LORD; do not let me be put to shame. |
I run along the path of your commands, for you enable me to do so. | 32I run in the path of your commands, for you have broadened my understanding. |
Teach me, O LORD, the lifestyle prescribed by your statutes, so that I might observe it continually. | 33Teach me, LORD, the way of your decrees, that I may follow it to the end. |
Give me understanding so that I might observe your law, and keep it with all my heart. | 34Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart. |
Guide me in the path of your commands, for I delight to walk in it. | 35Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight. |
Give me a desire for your rules, rather than for wealth gained unjustly. | 36Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. |
Turn my eyes away from what is worthless! Revive me with your word! | 37Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word. |
Confirm to your servant your promise, which you made to the one who honors you. | 38Fulfill your promise to your servant, so that you may be feared. |
Take away the insults that I dread! Indeed, your regulations are good. | 39Take away the disgrace I dread, for your laws are good. |
Look, I long for your precepts. Revive me with your deliverance! | 40How I long for your precepts! In your righteousness preserve my life. |
May I experience your loyal love, O LORD, and your deliverance, as you promised. | 41May your unfailing love come to me, LORD, your salvation, according to your promise; |
Then I will have a reply for the one who insults me, for I trust in your word. | 42then I can answer anyone who taunts me, for I trust in your word. |
Do not completely deprive me of a truthful testimony, for I await your justice. | 43Never take your word of truth from my mouth, for I have put my hope in your laws. |
Then I will keep your law continually now and for all time. | 44I will always obey your law, for ever and ever. |
I will be secure, for I seek your precepts. | 45I will walk about in freedom, for I have sought out your precepts. |
I will speak about your regulations before kings and not be ashamed. | 46I will speak of your statutes before kings and will not be put to shame, |
I will find delight in your commands, which I love. | 47for I delight in your commands because I love them. |
I will lift my hands to your commands, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes. | 48I reach out for your commands, which I love, that I may meditate on your decrees. |
Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. | 49Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope. |
This is what comforts me in my trouble, for your promise revives me. | 50My comfort in my suffering is this: Your promise preserves my life. |
Arrogant people do nothing but scoff at me. Yet I do not turn aside from your law. | 51The arrogant mock me unmercifully, but I do not turn from your law. |
I remember your ancient regulations, O LORD, and console myself. | 52I remember, LORD, your ancient laws, and I find comfort in them. |
Rage takes hold of me because of the wicked, those who reject your law. | 53Indignation grips me because of the wicked, who have forsaken your law. |
Your statutes have been my songs in the house where I live. | 54Your decrees are the theme of my song wherever I lodge. |
I remember your name during the night, O LORD, and I will keep your law. | 55In the night, LORD, I remember your name, that I may keep your law. |
This has been my practice, for I observe your precepts. | 56This has been my practice: I obey your precepts. |
The LORD is my source of security. I have determined to follow your instructions. | 57You are my portion, LORD; I have promised to obey your words. |
I seek your favor with all my heart. Have mercy on me as you promised! | 58I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. |
I consider my actions and follow your rules. | 59I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes. |
I keep your commands eagerly and without delay. | 60I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands. |
The ropes of the wicked tighten around me, but I do not forget your law. | 61Though the wicked bind me with ropes, I will not forget your law. |
In the middle of the night I arise to thank you for your just regulations. | 62At midnight I rise to give you thanks for your righteous laws. |
I am a friend to all your loyal followers, and to those who keep your precepts. | 63I am a friend to all who fear you, to all who follow your precepts. |
O LORD, your loyal love fills the earth. Teach me your statutes! | 64The earth is filled with your love, LORD; teach me your decrees. |
You are good to your servant, O LORD, just as you promised. | 65Do good to your servant according to your word, LORD. |
Teach me proper discernment and understanding! For I consider your commands to be reliable. | 66Teach me knowledge and good judgment, for I trust your commands. |
Before I was afflicted I used to stray off, but now I keep your instructions. | 67Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I obey your word. |
You are good and you do good. Teach me your statutes! | 68You are good, and what you do is good; teach me your decrees. |
Arrogant people smear my reputation with lies, but I observe your precepts with all my heart. | 69Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart. |
Their hearts are calloused, but I find delight in your law. | 70Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law. |
It was good for me to suffer, so that I might learn your statutes. | 71It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. |
The law you have revealed is more important to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver. | 72The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. |
Your hands made me and formed me. Give me understanding so that I might learn your commands. | 73Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding to learn your commands. |
Your loyal followers will be glad when they see me, for I find hope in your word. | 74May those who fear you rejoice when they see me, for I have put my hope in your word. |
I know, LORD, that your regulations are just. You disciplined me because of your faithful devotion to me. | 75I know, LORD, that your laws are righteous, and that in faithfulness you have afflicted me. |
May your loyal love console me, as you promised your servant. | 76May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant. |
May I experience your compassion, so I might live! For I find delight in your law. | 77Let your compassion come to me that I may live, for your law is my delight. |
May the arrogant be humiliated, for they have slandered me! But I meditate on your precepts. | 78May the arrogant be put to shame for wronging me without cause; but I will meditate on your precepts. |
May your loyal followers turn to me, those who know your rules. | 79May those who fear you turn to me, those who understand your statutes. |
May I be fully committed to your statutes, so that I might not be ashamed. | 80May I wholeheartedly follow your decrees, that I may not be put to shame. |
I desperately long for your deliverance. I find hope in your word. | 81My soul faints with longing for your salvation, but I have put my hope in your word. |
My eyes grow tired as I wait for your promise to be fulfilled. I say, "When will you comfort me?" | 82My eyes fail, looking for your promise; I say, "When will you comfort me?" |
For I am like a wineskin dried up in smoke. I do not forget your statutes. | 83Though I am like a wineskin in the smoke, I do not forget your decrees. |
How long must your servant endure this? When will you judge those who pursue me? | 84How long must your servant wait? When will you punish my persecutors? |
The arrogant dig pits to trap me, which violates your law. | 85The arrogant dig pits to trap me, contrary to your law. |
All your commands are reliable. I am pursued without reason. Help me! | 86All your commands are trustworthy; help me, for I am being persecuted without cause. |
They have almost destroyed me here on the earth, but I do not reject your precepts. | 87They almost wiped me from the earth, but I have not forsaken your precepts. |
Revive me with your loyal love, that I might keep the rules you have revealed. | 88In your unfailing love preserve my life, that I may obey the statutes of your mouth. |
O LORD, your instructions endure; they stand secure in heaven. | 89Your word, LORD, is eternal; it stands firm in the heavens. |
You demonstrate your faithfulness to all generations. You established the earth and it stood firm. | 90Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. |
Today they stand firm by your decrees, for all things are your servants. | 91Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you. |
If I had not found encouragement in your law, I would have died in my sorrow. | 92If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction. |
I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have revived me. | 93I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have preserved my life. |
I belong to you. Deliver me! For I seek your precepts. | 94Save me, for I am yours; I have sought out your precepts. |
The wicked prepare to kill me, yet I concentrate on your rules. | 95The wicked are waiting to destroy me, but I will ponder your statutes. |
I realize that everything has its limits, but your commands are beyond full comprehension. | 96To all perfection I see a limit, but your commands are boundless. |
O how I love your law! All day long I meditate on it. | 97Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. |
Your commandments make me wiser than my enemies, for I am always aware of them. | 98Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies. |
I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your rules. | 99I have more insight than all my teachers, for I meditate on your statutes. |
I am more discerning than those older than I, for I observe your precepts. | 100I have more understanding than the elders, for I obey your precepts. |
I stay away from the evil path, so that I might keep your instructions. | 101I have kept my feet from every evil path so that I might obey your word. |
I do not turn aside from your regulations, for you teach me. | 102I have not departed from your laws, for you yourself have taught me. |
Your words are sweeter in my mouth than honey! | 103How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! |
Your precepts give me discernment. Therefore I hate all deceitful actions. | 104I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path. |
Your word is a lamp to walk by, and a light to illumine my path. | 105Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. |
I have vowed and solemnly sworn to keep your just regulations. | 106I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. |
I am suffering terribly. O LORD, revive me with your word! | 107I have suffered much; preserve my life, LORD, according to your word. |
O LORD, please accept the freewill offerings of my praise! Teach me your regulations! | 108Accept, LORD, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. |
My life is in continual danger, but I do not forget your law. | 109Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. |
The wicked lay a trap for me, but I do not wander from your precepts. | 110The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts. |
I claim your rules as my permanent possession, for they give me joy. | 111Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. |
I am determined to obey your statutes at all times, to the very end. | 112My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end. |
I hate people with divided loyalties, but I love your law. | 113I hate double-minded people, but I love your law. |
You are my hiding place and my shield. I find hope in your word. | 114You are my refuge and my shield; I have put my hope in your word. |
Turn away from me, you evil men, so that I can observe the commands of my God. | 115Away from me, you evildoers, that I may keep the commands of my God! |
Sustain me as you promised, so that I will live. Do not disappoint me! | 116Sustain me, my God, according to your promise, and I will live; do not let my hopes be dashed. |
Support me, so that I will be delivered. Then I will focus on your statutes continually. | 117Uphold me, and I will be delivered; I will always have regard for your decrees. |
You despise all who stray from your statutes, for they are deceptive and unreliable. | 118You reject all who stray from your decrees, for their delusions come to nothing. |
You remove all the wicked of the earth like slag. Therefore I love your rules. | 119All the wicked of the earth you discard like dross; therefore I love your statutes. |
My body trembles because I fear you; I am afraid of your judgments. | 120My flesh trembles in fear of you; I stand in awe of your laws. |
I do what is fair and right. Do not abandon me to my oppressors! | 121I have done what is righteous and just; do not leave me to my oppressors. |
Guarantee the welfare of your servant! Do not let the arrogant oppress me! | 122Ensure your servant's well-being; do not let the arrogant oppress me. |
My eyes grow tired as I wait for your deliverance, for your reliable promise to be fulfilled. | 123My eyes fail, looking for your salvation, looking for your righteous promise. |
Show your servant your loyal love! Teach me your statutes! | 124Deal with your servant according to your love and teach me your decrees. |
I am your servant. Give me insight, so that I can understand your rules. | 125I am your servant; give me discernment that I may understand your statutes. |
It is time for the LORD to act--they break your law! | 126It is time for you to act, LORD; your law is being broken. |
For this reason I love your commands more than gold, even purest gold. | 127Because I love your commands more than gold, more than pure gold, |
For this reason I carefully follow all your precepts. I hate all deceitful actions. | 128and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path. |
Your rules are marvelous. Therefore I observe them. | 129Your statutes are wonderful; therefore I obey them. |
Your instructions are a doorway through which light shines. They give insight to the untrained. | 130The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. |
I open my mouth and pant, because I long for your commands. | 131I open my mouth and pant, longing for your commands. |
Turn toward me and extend mercy to me, as you typically do to your loyal followers. | 132Turn to me and have mercy on me, as you always do to those who love your name. |
Direct my steps by your word! Do not let any sin dominate me! | 133Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. |
Deliver me from oppressive men, so that I can keep your precepts. | 134Redeem me from human oppression, that I may obey your precepts. |
Smile on your servant! Teach me your statutes! | 135Make your face shine on your servant and teach me your decrees. |
Tears stream down from my eyes, because people do not keep your law. | 136Streams of tears flow from my eyes, for your law is not obeyed. |
You are just, O LORD, and your judgments are fair. | 137You are righteous, LORD, and your laws are right. |
The rules you impose are just, and absolutely reliable. | 138The statutes you have laid down are righteous; they are fully trustworthy. |
My zeal consumes me, for my enemies forget your instructions. | 139My zeal wears me out, for my enemies ignore your words. |
Your word is absolutely pure, and your servant loves it! | 140Your promises have been thoroughly tested, and your servant loves them. |
I am insignificant and despised, yet I do not forget your precepts. | 141Though I am lowly and despised, I do not forget your precepts. |
Your justice endures, and your law is reliable. | 142Your righteousness is everlasting and your law is true. |
Distress and hardship confront me, yet I find delight in your commands. | 143Trouble and distress have come upon me, but your commands give me delight. |
Your rules remain just. Give me insight so that I can live. | 144Your statutes are always righteous; give me understanding that I may live. |
I cried out with all my heart, "Answer me, O LORD! I will observe your statutes." | 145I call with all my heart; answer me, LORD, and I will obey your decrees. |
I cried out to you, "Deliver me, so that I can keep your rules." | 146I call out to you; save me and I will keep your statutes. |
I am up before dawn crying for help. I find hope in your word. | 147I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word. |
My eyes anticipate the nighttime hours, so that I can meditate on your word. | 148My eyes stay open through the watches of the night, that I may meditate on your promises. |
Listen to me because of your loyal love! O LORD, revive me, as you typically do! | 149Hear my voice in accordance with your love; preserve my life, LORD, according to your laws. |
Those who are eager to do wrong draw near; they are far from your law. | 150Those who devise wicked schemes are near, but they are far from your law. |
You are near, O LORD, and all your commands are reliable. | 151Yet you are near, LORD, and all your commands are true. |
I learned long ago that you ordained your rules to last. | 152Long ago I learned from your statutes that you established them to last forever. |
See my pain and rescue me! For I do not forget your law. | 153Look on my suffering and deliver me, for I have not forgotten your law. |
Fight for me and defend me! Revive me with your word! | 154Defend my cause and redeem me; preserve my life according to your promise. |

Your compassion is great, O LORD. Revive me, as you typically do! | 156Your compassion, LORD, is great; preserve my life according to your laws. |
The enemies who chase me are numerous. Yet I do not turn aside from your rules. | 157Many are the foes who persecute me, but I have not turned from your statutes. |
I take note of the treacherous and despise them, because they do not keep your instructions. | 158I look on the faithless with loathing, for they do not obey your word. |
See how I love your precepts! O LORD, revive me with your loyal love! | 159See how I love your precepts; preserve my life, LORD, in accordance with your love. |
Your instructions are totally reliable; all your just regulations endure. | 160All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal. |
Rulers pursue me for no reason, yet I am more afraid of disobeying your instructions. | 161Rulers persecute me without cause, but my heart trembles at your word. |
I rejoice in your instructions, like one who finds much plunder. | 162I rejoice in your promise like one who finds great spoil. |
I hate and despise deceit; I love your law. | 163I hate and detest falsehood but I love your law. |
Seven times a day I praise you because of your just regulations. | 164Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws. |
Those who love your law are completely secure; nothing causes them to stumble. | 165Great peace have those who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. |
I hope for your deliverance, O LORD, and I obey your commands. | 166I wait for your salvation, LORD, and I follow your commands. |
I keep your rules; I love them greatly. | 167I obey your statutes, for I love them greatly. |
I keep your precepts and rules, for you are aware of everything I do. | 168I obey your precepts and your statutes, for all my ways are known to you. |
Listen to my cry for help, O LORD! Give me insight by your word! | 169May my cry come before you, LORD; give me understanding according to your word. |
Listen to my appeal for mercy! Deliver me, as you promised. | 170May my supplication come before you; deliver me according to your promise. |
May praise flow freely from my lips, for you teach me your statutes. | 171May my lips overflow with praise, for you teach me your decrees. |
May my tongue sing about your instructions, for all your commands are just. | 172May my tongue sing of your word, for all your commands are righteous. |
May your hand help me, for I choose to obey your precepts. | 173May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts. |
I long for your deliverance, O LORD; I find delight in your law. | 174I long for your salvation, LORD, and your law gives me delight. |
May I live and praise you! May your regulations help me! | 175Let me live that I may praise you, and may your laws sustain me. |
I have wandered off like a lost sheep. Come looking for your servant, for I do not forget your commands. | 176I have strayed like a lost sheep. Seek your servant, for I have not forgotten your commands. |
