Berean Interlinear Bible The First Disciples 1Ἐγένετο (It came to pass) δὲ (then) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) τὸν (the) ὄχλον (crowd) ἐπικεῖσθαι (pressing on) αὐτῷ (Him) καὶ (also) ἀκούειν (to hear) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) τοῦ (of) Θεοῦ (God), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (He) ἦν (was) ἑστὼς (standing) παρὰ (by) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake) Γεννησαρέτ (of Gennesaret),a 2καὶ (and) εἶδεν (He saw) πλοῖα (boats) ⇔ δύο (two) ἑστῶτα (lying) παρὰ (by) τὴν (the) λίμνην (lake); οἱ (-) δὲ (but) ἁλιεῖς (the fishermen) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτῶν (them) ἀποβάντες (having gone out), ἔπλυνον (were washing) τὰ (the) δίκτυα (nets). 3ἐμβὰς (Having entered) δὲ (then) εἰς (into) ἓν (one) τῶν (of the) πλοίων (boats), ὃ (which) ἦν (was) Σίμωνος (Simon’s), ἠρώτησεν (He asked) αὐτὸν (him) ἀπὸ (from) τῆς (the) γῆς (land) ἐπαναγαγεῖν (to put off) ὀλίγον (a little). καθίσας (Having sat down) δὲ (then), ἐκ (from) τοῦ (the) πλοίου (boat) ἐδίδασκεν (He was teaching) τοὺς (the) ὄχλους (crowds). 4Ὡς (When) δὲ (then) ἐπαύσατο (He left off) λαλῶν (speaking), εἶπεν (He said) πρὸς (to) τὸν (-) Σίμωνα (Simon), “Ἐπανάγαγε (Put off) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) βάθος (deep) καὶ (and) χαλάσατε (let down) τὰ (the) δίκτυα (nets) ὑμῶν (of you) εἰς (for) ἄγραν (a catch).” 5Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), Σίμων (Simon) εἶπεν (said), “Ἐπιστάτα (Master), δι’ (through) ὅλης (whole) νυκτὸς (night) κοπιάσαντες (having toiled), οὐδὲν (nothing) ἐλάβομεν (have we taken); ἐπὶ (at) δὲ (however) τῷ (the) ῥήματί (word) σου (of You), χαλάσω (I will let down) τὰ (the) δίκτυα (nets).” 6καὶ (And) τοῦτο (this) ποιήσαντες (having done), συνέκλεισαν (they enclosed) πλῆθος (a multitude) ἰχθύων (of fishes) πολύ (great); διερρήσσετο (were breaking) δὲ (now) τὰ (the) δίκτυα (nets) αὐτῶν (of them). 7καὶ (And) κατένευσαν (they beckoned) τοῖς (to the) μετόχοις (partners) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) ἑτέρῳ (other) πλοίῳ (boat), τοῦ (-) ἐλθόντας (having come), συλλαβέσθαι (to help) αὐτοῖς (them), καὶ (and) ἦλθον* (they came) καὶ (and) ἔπλησαν (filled) ἀμφότερα (both) τὰ (the) πλοῖα (boats) ὥστε (so that) βυθίζεσθαι (were sinking) αὐτά (they). 8Ἰδὼν (Having seen) δὲ (now), Σίμων (Simon) Πέτρος (Peter) προσέπεσεν (fell at) τοῖς (the) γόνασιν (knees) Ἰησοῦ (of Jesus), λέγων (saying), “Ἔξελθε (Depart) ἀπ’ (from) ἐμοῦ (me), ὅτι (for) ἀνὴρ (a man) ἁμαρτωλός (sinful) εἰμι (am I), Κύριε (Lord).” 9θάμβος (Amazement) γὰρ (for) περιέσχεν (laid hold) αὐτὸν (on him), καὶ (and) πάντας (on all) τοὺς (those) σὺν (with) αὐτῷ (him), ἐπὶ (at) τῇ (the) ἄγρᾳ (catch) τῶν (of the) ἰχθύων (fish) ὧν* (which) συνέλαβον (they had taken), 10ὁμοίως (likewise) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) Ἰάκωβον (James) καὶ (and) Ἰωάννην (John), υἱοὺς (the sons) Ζεβεδαίου (of Zebedee), οἳ (who) ἦσαν (were) κοινωνοὶ (partners) τῷ (-) Σίμωνι (with Simon). Καὶ (And) εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) τὸν (-) Σίμωνα (Simon), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus), “Μὴ (Not) φοβοῦ (fear); ἀπὸ (from) τοῦ (-) νῦν (now on) ἀνθρώπους (men) ἔσῃ (you will be) ζωγρῶν (catching).” 11καὶ (And) καταγαγόντες (having brought) τὰ (the) πλοῖα (boats) ἐπὶ (to) τὴν (the) γῆν (land), ἀφέντες (having left) πάντα (all), ἠκολούθησαν (they followed) αὐτῷ (Him). The Leper's Prayer 12Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass) ἐν (in) τῷ (-) εἶναι (being) αὐτὸν (His) ἐν (in) μιᾷ (one) τῶν (of the) πόλεων (cities), καὶ (that) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἀνὴρ (a man) πλήρης (full) λέπρας (of leprosy),b ἰδὼν (having seen) δὲ (then) τὸν (-) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus), πεσὼν (having fallen) ἐπὶ (upon) πρόσωπον (his face), ἐδεήθη (begged) αὐτοῦ (Him), λέγων (saying), “Κύριε (Lord), ἐὰν (if) θέλῃς (You would be willing), δύνασαί (You are able) με (me) καθαρίσαι (to cleanse).” 13Καὶ (And) ἐκτείνας (having stretched out) τὴν (the) χεῖρα (hand), ἥψατο (He touched) αὐτοῦ (him), λέγων (saying), “Θέλω (I am willing); καθαρίσθητι (be you cleansed)!” καὶ (And) εὐθέως (immediately) ἡ (the) λέπρα (leprosy) ἀπῆλθεν (departed) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτοῦ (him). 14Καὶ (And) αὐτὸς (He) παρήγγειλεν (ordered) αὐτῷ (him) μηδενὶ (no one) εἰπεῖν (to tell): “Ἀλλὰ (But) ἀπελθὼν (having gone), δεῖξον (show) σεαυτὸν (yourself) τῷ (to the) ἱερεῖ (priest), καὶ (and) προσένεγκε (offer) περὶ (for) τοῦ (the) καθαρισμοῦ (cleansing) σου (of you), καθὼς (as) προσέταξεν (commanded) Μωϋσῆς (Moses), εἰς (for) μαρτύριον (a testimony) αὐτοῖς (to them).” 15Διήρχετο (Was spread abroad) δὲ (now) μᾶλλον (still more) ὁ (the) λόγος (report) περὶ (concerning) αὐτοῦ (Him); καὶ (and) συνήρχοντο (were coming) ὄχλοι (crowds) πολλοὶ (great) ἀκούειν (to hear) καὶ (and) θεραπεύεσθαι (to be healed) ἀπὸ (from) τῶν (the) ἀσθενειῶν (sicknesses) αὐτῶν (of them). 16αὐτὸς (He Himself) δὲ (now) ἦν (was) ὑποχωρῶν (withdrawing) ἐν (into) ταῖς (the) ἐρήμοις (wilderness) καὶ (and) προσευχόμενος (praying). Jesus Heals a Paralytic 17Καὶ (And) ἐγένετο (it came to pass) ἐν (on) μιᾷ (one) τῶν (of the) ἡμερῶν (days) καὶ (that) αὐτὸς (He) ἦν (was) διδάσκων (teaching), καὶ (and) ἦσαν (there were) καθήμενοι (sitting by) Φαρισαῖοι (Pharisees) καὶ (and) νομοδιδάσκαλοι (teachers of the law), οἳ (who) ἦσαν (were) ἐληλυθότες (come) ἐκ (out of) πάσης (every) κώμης (village) τῆς (-) Γαλιλαίας (of Galilee), καὶ (and) Ἰουδαίας (of Judea), καὶ (and) Ἰερουσαλήμ (of Jerusalem). καὶ (And) δύναμις (the power) Κυρίου (of the Lord) ἦν (was there) εἰς (for) τὸ (-) ἰᾶσθαι (to heal) αὐτόν (Him). 18Καὶ (And) ἰδοὺ (behold), ἄνδρες (men) φέροντες (carrying) ἐπὶ (upon) κλίνης (a mat) ἄνθρωπον (a man) ὃς (who) ἦν (was) παραλελυμένος (paralyzed), καὶ (and) ἐζήτουν (they were seeking) αὐτὸν (him) εἰσενεγκεῖν (to bring in) καὶ (and) θεῖναι (to place) [αὐτὸν] (him) ἐνώπιον (before) αὐτοῦ (Him). 19καὶ (And) μὴ (not) εὑρόντες (having found) ποίας (what way) εἰσενέγκωσιν (they should bring in) αὐτὸν (him) διὰ (on account of) τὸν (the) ὄχλον (crowd), ἀναβάντες (having gone up) ἐπὶ (on) τὸ (the) δῶμα (housetop), διὰ (through) τῶν (the) κεράμων (tiles) καθῆκαν (they let down) αὐτὸν (him), σὺν (with) τῷ (the) κλινιδίῳ (mat) εἰς (into) τὸ (the) μέσον (midst) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τοῦ (-) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus). 20Καὶ (And) ἰδὼν (having seen) τὴν (the) πίστιν (faith) αὐτῶν (of them), εἶπεν (He said), “Ἄνθρωπε (Man), ἀφέωνταί (have been forgiven) σοι (you) αἱ (the) ἁμαρτίαι (sins) σου (of you).” 21Καὶ (And) ἤρξαντο (began) διαλογίζεσθαι (to reason) οἱ (the) γραμματεῖς (scribes) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) Φαρισαῖοι (Pharisees), λέγοντες (saying), “Τίς (Who) ἐστιν (is) οὗτος (this) ὃς (who) λαλεῖ (speaks) βλασφημίας (blasphemies)? τίς (Who) δύναται (is able) ἁμαρτίας (sins) ἀφεῖναι (to forgive), εἰ (if) μὴ (not) μόνος (alone) ὁ (-) Θεός (God)?” 22Ἐπιγνοὺς (Having known) δὲ (now) ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) τοὺς (the) διαλογισμοὺς (reasonings) αὐτῶν (of them), ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), εἶπεν (He said) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Τί (Why) διαλογίζεσθε (reason you) ἐν (in) ταῖς (the) καρδίαις (hearts) ὑμῶν (of you)? 23τί (Which) ἐστιν (is) εὐκοπώτερον (easier), εἰπεῖν (to say), ‘Ἀφέωνταί (Have been forgiven) σοι (you) αἱ (the) ἁμαρτίαι (sins) σου (of you),’ ἢ (or) εἰπεῖν (to say), ‘Ἔγειρε (Arise) καὶ (and) περιπάτει (walk)?’ 24ἵνα (That) δὲ (however) εἰδῆτε (you may know) ὅτι (that) ὁ (the) Υἱὸς (Son) τοῦ (-) ἀνθρώπου (of Man) ἐξουσίαν (authority) ἔχει (has) ἐπὶ (on) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth) ἀφιέναι (to forgive) ἁμαρτίας (sins)...” εἶπεν (He said) τῷ (to the one) παραλελυμένῳ (having been paralyzed), “Σοὶ (To you) λέγω (I say), ἔγειρε (arise), καὶ (and) ἄρας (having taken up) τὸ (the) κλινίδιόν (mat) σου (of you), πορεύου (go) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) οἶκόν (house) σου (of you).” 25Καὶ (And) παραχρῆμα (immediately) ἀναστὰς (having stood up) ἐνώπιον (before) αὐτῶν (them), ἄρας (having taken up) ἐφ’ (that on) ὃ (which) κατέκειτο (he was lying), ἀπῆλθεν (he departed) εἰς (to) τὸν (the) οἶκον (home) αὐτοῦ (of him), δοξάζων (glorifying) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God). 26καὶ (And) ἔκστασις (amazement) ἔλαβεν (seized) ἅπαντας (all), καὶ (and) ἐδόξαζον (they were glorifying) τὸν (-) Θεόν (God), καὶ (and) ἐπλήσθησαν (were filled) φόβου (with fear), λέγοντες (saying) ὅτι (-), “Εἴδομεν (We have seen) παράδοξα (remarkable things) σήμερον (today).” The Calling of Levi 27Καὶ (And) μετὰ (after) ταῦτα (these things) ἐξῆλθεν (He went forth) καὶ (and) ἐθεάσατο (He saw) τελώνην (a tax collector) ὀνόματι (named) Λευὶν (Levi) καθήμενον (sitting) ἐπὶ (at) τὸ (the) τελώνιον (tax booth); καὶ (and) εἶπεν (He said) αὐτῷ (to him), “Ἀκολούθει (Follow) μοι (Me).” 28καὶ (And) καταλιπὼν (having left) πάντα (all), ἀναστὰς (having arisen), ἠκολούθει (he began to follow) αὐτῷ (Him). 29Καὶ (And) ἐποίησεν (made) δοχὴν (a banquet) μεγάλην (great) Λευὶς (Levi) αὐτῷ (for Him) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) οἰκίᾳ (house) αὐτοῦ (of him), καὶ (and) ἦν (there was) ὄχλος (a multitude) πολὺς (great) τελωνῶν (of tax collectors) καὶ (and) ἄλλων (others), οἳ (who) ἦσαν (were) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them) κατακείμενοι (reclining). 30καὶ (And) ἐγόγγυζον (were grumbling) οἱ (the) Φαρισαῖοι (Pharisees) καὶ (and) οἱ (the) γραμματεῖς (scribes) αὐτῶν (of them) πρὸς (at) τοὺς (the) μαθητὰς (disciples) αὐτοῦ (of Him), λέγοντες (saying), “Διὰ (Because of) τί (why) μετὰ (with) τῶν (the) τελωνῶν (tax collectors) καὶ (and) ἁμαρτωλῶν (sinners) ἐσθίετε (do you eat) καὶ (and) πίνετε (drink)?” 31Καὶ (And) ἀποκριθεὶς (answering), ὁ (-) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Οὐ (No) χρείαν (need) ἔχουσιν (have) οἱ (those) ὑγιαίνοντες (being well) ἰατροῦ (of a physician), ἀλλὰ (but) οἱ (those) κακῶς (sick) ἔχοντες (being). 32οὐκ (Not) ἐλήλυθα (I have come) καλέσαι (to call) δικαίους (righteous ones), ἀλλὰ (but) ἁμαρτωλοὺς (sinners), εἰς (to) μετάνοιαν (repentance).” Questions about Fasting 33Οἱ (-) δὲ (And) εἶπαν (they said) πρὸς (to) αὐτόν (Him), “Οἱ (The) μαθηταὶ (disciples) Ἰωάννου (of John) νηστεύουσιν (fast) πυκνὰ (often), καὶ (and) δεήσεις (prayers) ποιοῦνται (make), ὁμοίως (likewise) καὶ (also) οἱ (those) τῶν (of the) Φαρισαίων (Pharisees); οἱ (those) δὲ (however) σοὶ (of You) ἐσθίουσιν (eat) καὶ (and) πίνουσιν (drink).” 34Ὁ (-) δὲ (And) Ἰησοῦς (Jesus) εἶπεν (said) πρὸς (to) αὐτούς (them), “Μὴ (Not) δύνασθε (are you able) τοὺς (the) υἱοὺς (sons) τοῦ (of the) νυμφῶνος (bridechamber) ἐν (in) ᾧ (which time) ὁ (the) νυμφίος (bridegroom) μετ’ (with) αὐτῶν (them) ἐστιν (is), ποιῆσαι (to make) νηστεῦσαι (to fast)? 35ἐλεύσονται (Will come) δὲ (however) ἡμέραι (days) καὶ (also) ὅταν (when) ἀπαρθῇ (shall be taken away) ἀπ’ (from) αὐτῶν (them) ὁ (the) νυμφίος (bridegroom); τότε (then) νηστεύσουσιν (they will fast) ἐν (in) ἐκείναις (those) ταῖς (-) ἡμέραις (days).” The Patches and the Wineskins 36Ἔλεγεν (He was speaking) δὲ (now) καὶ (also) παραβολὴν (a parable) πρὸς (to) αὐτοὺς (them) ὅτι (-): “Οὐδεὶς (No one) ἐπίβλημα (a piece) ἀπὸ (of) ἱματίου (a garment) καινοῦ (new) σχίσας (having torn), ἐπιβάλλει (puts it) ἐπὶ (on) ἱμάτιον (a garment) παλαιόν (old); εἰ (if) δὲ (however) μή¦γε (otherwise) καὶ (also) τὸ (the) καινὸν (new) σχίσει (he will tear), καὶ (and) τῷ (the) παλαιῷ (old) οὐ (not) συμφωνήσει (will match), τὸ (which is) ἐπίβλημα (the piece) τὸ (-) ἀπὸ (of) τοῦ (the) καινοῦ (new). 37Καὶ (And) οὐδεὶς (no one) βάλλει (puts) οἶνον (wine) νέον (new) εἰς (into) ἀσκοὺς (wineskins) παλαιούς (old); εἰ (if) δὲ (now) μή¦γε (otherwise), ῥήξει (will burst) ὁ (the) οἶνος (wine) ὁ (-) νέος (new) τοὺς (the) ἀσκούς (wineskins), καὶ (and) αὐτὸς (it) ἐκχυθήσεται (will be spilled out), καὶ (and) οἱ (the) ἀσκοὶ (wineskins) ἀπολοῦνται (will be destroyed).
38ἀλλὰ (But) οἶνον (wine) νέον (new) εἰς (into) ἀσκοὺς (wineskins) καινοὺς (fresh) βλητέον (must be put).
39καὶ (And) οὐδεὶς (no one) πιὼν (having drunk) παλαιὸν (old wine) θέλει (desires) νέον (new); λέγει (he says) γάρ (for), ‘Ὁ (The) παλαιὸς (old) χρηστός (better) ἐστιν (is).’” b 12 Leprosy was a term for several skin diseases.
