3	and tell her that this is what the Lord GOD says to Jerusalem: Your origin and your birth were in the land of the Canaanites. Your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.	and say, Thus says the Lord GOD to Jerusalem: Your origin and your birth are of the land of the Canaanites; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.	And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD unto Jerusalem; Thy birth and thy nativity <i>is</i> of the land of Canaan; thy father <i>was</i> an Amorite, and thy mother an Hittite.	and say, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says to Jerusalem: “Your origin and your birth are from the land of the Canaanite; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.	and say, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says to Jerusalem: Your ancestry and birth were in the land of the Canaanites; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.
4	On the day of your birth your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water for cleansing. You were not rubbed with salt or wrapped in cloths.	And as for your birth, on the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to cleanse you, nor rubbed with salt, nor wrapped in swaddling cloths.	And <i>as for</i> thy nativity, in the day thou wast born thy navel was not cut, neither wast thou washed in water to supple <i>thee</i>; thou wast not salted at all, nor swaddled at all.	As for your birth, on the day you were born your navel cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water for cleansing; you were not rubbed with salt or even wrapped in cloths. 5	No one cared enough for you to do even one of these things out of compassion for you. Instead, you were thrown out into the open field, because you were despised on the day of your birth.	No eye pitied you, to do any of these things to you out of compassion for you, but you were cast out on the open field, for you were abhorred, on the day that you were born.	None eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have compassion upon thee; but thou wast cast out in the open field, to the lothing of thy person, in the day that thou wast born.	No eye looked with pity on you to do any of these things for you, to have compassion on you. Rather you were thrown out into the open field, for you were abhorred on the day you were born.	No one looked on you with pity or had compassion enough to do any of these things for you. Rather, you were thrown out into the open field, for on the day you were born you were despised.
6	Then I passed by and saw you wallowing in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you, ‘Live!’ There I said to you, ‘Live!’	“And when I passed by you and saw you wallowing in your blood, I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’ I said to you in your blood, ‘Live!’	And when I passed by thee, and saw thee polluted in thine own blood, I said unto thee <i>when thou wast</i> in thy blood, Live; yea, I said unto thee <i>when thou wast</i> in thy blood, Live.	“When I passed by you and saw you squirming in your blood, I said to you <i>while you were</i> in your blood, ‘Live!’ Yes, I said to you <i>while you were</i> in your blood, ‘Live!’	“’Then I passed by and saw you kicking about in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you, “Live!”
7	I made you thrive like a plant of the field. You grew up and matured and became very beautiful. Your breasts were formed and your hair grew, but you were naked and bare.	I made you flourish like a plant of the field. And you grew up and became tall and arrived at full adornment. Your breasts were formed, and your hair had grown; yet you were naked and bare.	I have caused thee to multiply as the bud of the field, and thou hast increased and waxen great, and thou art come to excellent ornaments: <i>thy</i> breasts are fashioned, and thine hair is grown, whereas thou <i>wast</i> naked and bare.	I made you very numerous, like plants of the field. Then you grew up, became tall and reached <i>the age</i> for fine jewelry; <i>your</i> breasts were formed and your hair had grown. Yet you were naked and bare.	I made you grow like a plant of the field. You grew and developed and entered puberty. Your breasts had formed and your hair had grown, yet you were stark naked.
8	Then I passed by and saw you, and you were indeed old enough for love. So I spread My cloak over you and covered your nakedness. I pledged Myself to you, entered into a covenant with you, and you became Mine, declares the Lord GOD.	“When I passed by you again and saw you, behold, you were at the age for love, and I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness; I made my vow to you and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Lord GOD, and you became mine.	Now when I passed by thee, and looked upon thee, behold, thy time <i>was</i> the time of love; and I spread my skirt over thee, and covered thy nakedness: yea, I sware unto thee, and entered into a covenant with thee, saith the Lord GOD, and thou becamest mine.	“Then I passed by you and saw you, and behold, you were at the time for love; so I spread My garment over you and covered your nakedness. I also swore an oath to you and entered into a covenant with you so that you became Mine,” declares the Lord GOD.	“’Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your naked body. I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign LORD, and you became mine.
9	Then I bathed you with water, rinsed off your blood, and anointed you with oil.	Then I bathed you with water and washed off your blood from you and anointed you with oil.	Then washed I thee with water; yea, I throughly washed away thy blood from thee, and I anointed thee with oil.	“Then I bathed you with water, washed off your blood from you, and anointed you with oil.	“’I bathed you with water and washed the blood from you and put ointments on you.
10	I clothed you in embroidered cloth and gave you sandals of fine leather. I wrapped you in fine linen and covered you with silk. 11	I adorned you with jewelry, and I put bracelets on your wrists and a chain around your neck.	And I adorned you with ornaments and put bracelets on your wrists and a chain on your neck.	I decked thee also with ornaments, and I put bracelets upon thy hands, and a chain on thy neck.	I adorned you with jewelry, put bracelets on your wrists, and a necklace around your neck. 12	I put a ring in your nose, earrings on your ears, and a beautiful crown upon your head.	And I put a ring on your nose and earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. 13	So you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was made of fine linen, silk, and embroidered cloth. You ate fine flour, honey, and oil. You became very beautiful and rose to be queen. 14	Your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, for it was perfect in the splendor I bestowed on you, declares the Lord GOD.	And your renown went forth among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through the splendor that I had bestowed on you, declares the Lord GOD.	And thy renown went forth among the heathen for thy beauty: for it <i>was</i> perfect through my comeliness, which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord GOD.	Then your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, for it was perfect because of My splendor which I bestowed on you,” declares the Lord GOD.	And your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, because the splendor I had given you made your beauty perfect, declares the Sovereign LORD.
15	But because of your fame, you trusted in your beauty and played the harlot. You lavished your favors on everyone who passed by, and your beauty was theirs for the asking.	“But you trusted in your beauty and played the whore because of your renown and lavished your whorings on any passerby; your beauty became his.	But thou didst trust in thine own beauty, and playedst the harlot because of thy renown, and pouredst out thy fornications on every one that passed by; his it was.	“But you trusted in your beauty and became unfaithful because of your fame, and you poured out your obscene practices on every passer-by to whom it might be <i>tempting.</i>	“’But you trusted in your beauty and used your fame to become a prostitute. You lavished your favors on anyone who passed by and your beauty became his.
16	You took some of your garments and made colorful high places for yourself, and on them you prostituted yourself. Such things should not have happened; never should they have occurred!	You took some of your garments and made for yourself colorful shrines, and on them played the whore. The like has never been, nor ever shall be.	And of thy garments thou didst take, and deckedst thy high places with divers colours, and playedst the harlot thereupon: <i>the like things</i> shall not come, neither shall it be <i>so</i>.	You took some of your clothes, made for yourself high places of various colors, and committed prostitution on them, <i>which</i> should not come about nor happen.	You took some of your garments to make gaudy high places, where you carried on your prostitution. You went to him, and he possessed your beauty.
17	You also took the fine jewelry of gold and silver I had given you, and you made male idols with which to prostitute yourself.	You also took your beautiful jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given you, and made for yourself images of men, and with them played the whore.	Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself images of men, and didst commit whoredom with them,	You also took your beautiful jewels <i>made</i> of My gold and of My silver, which I had given you, and made for yourself male images so that you might commit prostitution with them.	You also took the fine jewelry I gave you, the jewelry made of my gold and silver, and you made for yourself male idols and engaged in prostitution with them.
18	You took your embroidered garments to cover them, and you set My oil and incense before them.	And you took your embroidered garments to cover them, and set my oil and my incense before them.	And tookest thy broidered garments, and coveredst them: and thou hast set mine oil and mine incense before them.	Then you took your colorfully woven cloth and covered them, and offered My oil and My incense before them.	And you took your embroidered clothes to put on them, and you offered my oil and incense before them.
19	And you set before them as a pleasing aroma the food I had given you— the fine flour, oil, and honey that I had fed you. That is what happened, declares the Lord GOD.	Also my bread that I gave you—I fed you with fine flour and oil and honey—you set before them for a pleasing aroma; and so it was, declares the Lord GOD.	My meat also which I gave thee, fine flour, and oil, and honey, <i>wherewith</i> I fed thee, thou hast even set it before them for a sweet savour: and <i>thus</i> it was, saith the Lord GOD.	Also My bread which I gave you, fine flour, oil, and honey with which I fed you, you would offer before them for a soothing aroma; so it happened,” declares the Lord GOD.	Also the food I provided for you—the flour, olive oil and honey I gave you to eat—you offered as fragrant incense before them. That is what happened, declares the Sovereign LORD.
20	You even took the sons and daughters you bore to Me and sacrificed them as food to idols. Was your prostitution not enough?	And you took your sons and your daughters, whom you had borne to me, and these you sacrificed to them to be devoured. Were your whorings so small a matter	Moreover thou hast taken thy sons and thy daughters, whom thou hast borne unto me, and these hast thou sacrificed unto them to be devoured. <i>Is this</i> of thy whoredoms a small matter,	“Furthermore, you took your sons and daughters whom you had borne to Me and sacrificed them to idols to be devoured. Were your obscene practices a trivial matter?	“’And you took your sons and daughters whom you bore to me and sacrificed them as food to the idols. Was your prostitution not enough?
21	You slaughtered My children and delivered them up through the fire to idols.	that you slaughtered my children and delivered them up as an offering by fire to them?	That thou hast slain my children, and delivered them to cause them to pass through <i>the fire</i> for them?	You slaughtered My children and offered them to idols by making them pass through <i>the fire.</i>	You slaughtered my children and sacrificed them to the idols.
22	And in all your abominations and acts of prostitution, you did not remember the days of your youth when you were naked and bare, wallowing in your own blood.	And in all your abominations and your whorings you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, wallowing in your blood.	And in all thine abominations and thy whoredoms thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, when thou wast naked and bare, <i>and</i> wast polluted in thy blood.	And besides all your abominations and obscene practices, you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare and squirming in your blood.	In all your detestable practices and your prostitution you did not remember the days of your youth, when you were naked and bare, kicking about in your blood.
23	Woe! Woe to you, declares the Lord GOD. And in addition to all your other wickedness,	“And after all your wickedness (woe, woe to you! declares the Lord GOD ),	And it came to pass after all thy wickedness, (woe, woe unto thee! saith the Lord GOD;)	“Then it came about after all your wickedness (‘Woe, woe to you!’ declares the Lord GOD),	“’Woe! Woe to you, declares the Sovereign LORD. In addition to all your other wickedness,
24	you built yourself a mound and made yourself a lofty shrine in every public square.	you built yourself a vaulted chamber and made yourself a lofty place in every square.	<i>That</i> thou hast also built unto thee an eminent place, and hast made thee an high place in every street.	that you built yourself a shrine and made yourself a high place in every public square.	you built a mound for yourself and made a lofty shrine in every public square.
25	At the head of every street you built your lofty shrines and degraded your beauty. With increasing promiscuity, you spread your legs to all who passed by.	At the head of every street you built your lofty place and made your beauty an abomination, offering yourself to any passerby and multiplying your whoring.	Thou hast built thy high place at every head of the way, and hast made thy beauty to be abhorred, and hast opened thy feet to every one that passed by, and multiplied thy whoredoms.	You built yourself a high place at the beginning of every street and made your beauty abominable, and you spread your legs to every passer-by and multiplied your obscene practice.	At every street corner you built your lofty shrines and degraded your beauty, spreading your legs with increasing promiscuity to anyone who passed by.
26	You prostituted yourself with your lustful neighbors, the Egyptians, and increased your promiscuity to provoke Me to anger.	You also played the whore with the Egyptians, your lustful neighbors, multiplying your whoring, to provoke me to anger.	Thou hast also committed fornication with the Egyptians thy neighbours, great of flesh; and hast increased thy whoredoms, to provoke me to anger.	You also committed prostitution with the Egyptians, your lustful neighbors, and multiplied your obscene practice to provoke Me to anger.	You engaged in prostitution with the Egyptians, your neighbors with large genitals, and aroused my anger with your increasing promiscuity.
27	Therefore I stretched out My hand against you and reduced your portion. I gave you over to the desire of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who were ashamed of your lewd conduct.	Behold, therefore, I stretched out my hand against you and diminished your allotted portion and delivered you to the greed of your enemies, the daughters of the Philistines, who were ashamed of your lewd behavior.	Behold, therefore I have stretched out my hand over thee, and have diminished thine ordinary <i>food</i>, and delivered thee unto the will of them that hate thee, the daughters of the Philistines, which are ashamed of thy lewd way.	So behold, I have stretched out My hand against you and cut back your rations. And I turned you over to the desire of those who hate you, the daughters of the Philistines, who are ashamed of your outrageous conduct.	So I stretched out my hand against you and reduced your territory; I gave you over to the greed of your enemies, the daughters of the Philistines, who were shocked by your lewd conduct.
28	Then you prostituted yourself with the Assyrians, because you were not yet satisfied. Even after that, you were still not satisfied.	You played the whore also with the Assyrians, because you were not satisfied; yes, you played the whore with them, and still you were not satisfied.	Thou hast played the whore also with the Assyrians, because thou wast unsatiable; yea, thou hast played the harlot with them, and yet couldest not be satisfied.	Moreover, you committed prostitution with the Assyrians because you were not satisfied; you committed prostitution with them and still were not satisfied.	You engaged in prostitution with the Assyrians too, because you were insatiable; and even after that, you still were not satisfied.
29	So you extended your promiscuity to Chaldea, the land of merchants— but even with this you were not satisfied!	You multiplied your whoring also with the trading land of Chaldea, and even with this you were not satisfied.	Thou hast moreover multiplied thy fornication in the land of Canaan unto Chaldea; and yet thou wast not satisfied herewith.	You also multiplied your obscene practice with the land of merchants, Chaldea; yet even with this you were not satisfied.”’”	Then you increased your promiscuity to include Babylonia, a land of merchants, but even with this you were not satisfied.
30	How weak-willed is your heart, declares the Lord GOD, while you do all these things, the acts of a shameless prostitute!	“How sick is your heart, declares the Lord GOD, because you did all these things, the deeds of a brazen prostitute,	How weak is thine heart, saith the Lord GOD, seeing thou doest all these <i>things</i>, the work of an imperious whorish woman;	“How feverish is your heart,” declares the Lord GOD, “while you do all these things, the action of a bold prostitute!	“’I am filled with fury against you, declares the Sovereign LORD, when you do all these things, acting like a brazen prostitute!
31	But when you built your mounds at the head of every street and made your lofty shrines in every public square, you were not even like a prostitute, because you scorned payment.	building your vaulted chamber at the head of every street, and making your lofty place in every square. Yet you were not like a prostitute, because you scorned payment.	In that thou buildest thine eminent place in the head of every way, and makest thine high place in every street; and hast not been as an harlot, in that thou scornest hire;	When you built your shrine at the beginning of every street and made your high place in every public square, in spurning a prostitute’s fee, you were not like a prostitute.	When you built your mounds at every street corner and made your lofty shrines in every public square, you were unlike a prostitute, because you scorned payment.
32	You adulterous wife! You receive strangers instead of your own husband!	Adulterous wife, who receives strangers instead of her husband!	<i>But as</i> a wife that committeth adultery, <i>which</i> taketh strangers instead of her husband!	You adulteress wife, who takes strangers instead of her husband!	“’You adulterous wife! You prefer strangers to your own husband!
33	Men give gifts to all their prostitutes, but you gave gifts to all your lovers. You bribed them to come to you from everywhere for your illicit favors.	Men give gifts to all prostitutes, but you gave your gifts to all your lovers, bribing them to come to you from every side with your whorings.	They give gifts to all whores: but thou givest thy gifts to all thy lovers, and hirest them, that they may come unto thee on every side for thy whoredom.	<i>Men</i> give gifts to all prostitutes, but you give your gifts to all your lovers and lavish favors on them so that they will come to you from every direction for your obscene practices.	All prostitutes receive gifts, but you give gifts to all your lovers, bribing them to come to you from everywhere for your illicit favors.
34	So your prostitution is the opposite of that of other women: No one solicited your favors, and you paid a fee instead of receiving one; so you are the very opposite!	So you were different from other women in your whorings. No one solicited you to play the whore, and you gave payment, while no payment was given to you; therefore you were different.	And the contrary is in thee from <i>other</i> women in thy whoredoms, whereas none followeth thee to commit whoredoms: and in that thou givest a reward, and no reward is given unto thee, therefore thou art contrary.	So it is the opposite for you from those women in your obscene practices, in that you are not approached for prostitution, and in <i>the fact</i> that you pay a prostitute’s fee, and no fee is paid to you; so you are the opposite.”	So in your prostitution you are the opposite of others; no one runs after you for your favors. You are the very opposite, for you give payment and none is given to you.
35	Therefore, O prostitute, hear the word of the LORD!	“Therefore, O prostitute, hear the word of the LORD:	Wherefore, O harlot, hear the word of the LORD:	Therefore, you prostitute, hear the word of the LORD.	“’Therefore, you prostitute, hear the word of the LORD!
36	This is what the Lord GOD says: Because you poured out your wealth and exposed your nakedness in your promiscuity with your lovers and with all your detestable idols, and because of the blood of your children which you gave to them,	Thus says the Lord GOD, Because your lust was poured out and your nakedness uncovered in your whorings with your lovers, and with all your abominable idols, and because of the blood of your children that you gave to them,	Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thy filthiness was poured out, and thy nakedness discovered through thy whoredoms with thy lovers, and with all the idols of thy abominations, and by the blood of thy children, which thou didst give unto them;	This is what the Lord GOD says: “Because your lewdness was poured out and your nakedness uncovered through your obscene practices with your lovers and with all your detestable idols, and because of the blood of your sons that you gave to idols,	This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because you poured out your lust and exposed your naked body in your promiscuity with your lovers, and because of all your detestable idols, and because you gave them your children’s blood,
37	therefore I will surely gather all the lovers with whom you found pleasure, all those you loved and all those you hated. I will gather them against you from all around and expose you before them, and they will see you completely naked.	therefore, behold, I will gather all your lovers with whom you took pleasure, all those you loved and all those you hated. I will gather them against you from every side and will uncover your nakedness to them, that they may see all your nakedness.	Behold, therefore I will gather all thy lovers, with whom thou hast taken pleasure, and all <i>them</i> that thou hast loved, with all <i>them</i> that thou hast hated; I will even gather them round about against thee, and will discover thy nakedness unto them, that they may see all thy nakedness.	therefore, behold, I am going to gather all your lovers whom you pleased, all those whom you loved as well as all those whom you hated. So I will gather them against you from every direction and expose your nakedness to them so that they may see all your nakedness.	therefore I am going to gather all your lovers, with whom you found pleasure, those you loved as well as those you hated. I will gather them against you from all around and will strip you in front of them, and they will see you stark naked.
38	And I will sentence you to the punishment of women who commit adultery and those who shed blood; so I will bring upon you the wrath of your bloodshed and jealousy.	And I will judge you as women who commit adultery and shed blood are judged, and bring upon you the blood of wrath and jealousy.	And I will judge thee, as women that break wedlock and shed blood are judged; and I will give thee blood in fury and jealousy.	So I will judge you as women who commit adultery or shed blood are judged; and I will bring on you the blood of wrath and jealousy.	I will sentence you to the punishment of women who commit adultery and who shed blood; I will bring on you the blood vengeance of my wrath and jealous anger.
39	Then I will deliver you into the hands of your lovers, and they will level your mounds and tear down your lofty shrines. They will strip off your clothes, take your fine jewelry, and leave you naked and bare.	And I will give you into their hands, and they shall throw down your vaulted chamber and break down your lofty places. They shall strip you of your clothes and take your beautiful jewels and leave you naked and bare.	And I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thine eminent place, and shall break down thy high places: they shall strip thee also of thy clothes, and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare.	I will also hand you over to your lovers, and they will tear down your shrines, demolish your high places, strip you of your clothing, take away your jewels, and will leave you naked and bare.	Then I will deliver you into the hands of your lovers, and they will tear down your mounds and destroy your lofty shrines. They will strip you of your clothes and take your fine jewelry and leave you stark naked.
40	They will bring a mob against you, who will stone you and cut you to pieces with their swords.	They shall bring up a crowd against you, and they shall stone you and cut you to pieces with their swords.	They shall also bring up a company against thee, and they shall stone thee with stones, and thrust thee through with their swords.	They will incite a crowd against you, and they will stone you and cut you to pieces with their swords.	They will bring a mob against you, who will stone you and hack you to pieces with their swords.
41	Then they will burn down your houses and execute judgment against you in the sight of many women. I will put an end to your prostitution, and you will never again pay your lovers.	And they shall burn your houses and execute judgments upon you in the sight of many women. I will make you stop playing the whore, and you shall also give payment no more.	And they shall burn thine houses with fire, and execute judgments upon thee in the sight of many women: and I will cause thee to cease from playing the harlot, and thou also shalt give no hire any more.	And they will burn your houses with fire and execute judgments against you in the sight of many women. Then I will put an end to your prostitution, and you will also no longer pay your lovers.	They will burn down your houses and inflict punishment on you in the sight of many women. I will put a stop to your prostitution, and you will no longer pay your lovers.
42	So I will lay to rest My wrath against you, and My jealousy will turn away from you. Then I will be calm and no longer angry.	So will I satisfy my wrath on you, and my jealousy shall depart from you. I will be calm and will no more be angry.	So will I make my fury toward thee to rest, and my jealousy shall depart from thee, and I will be quiet, and will be no more angry.	So I will satisfy My fury against you and My jealousy will leave you, and I will be pacified and no longer be angry.	Then my wrath against you will subside and my jealous anger will turn away from you; I will be calm and no longer angry.
43	Because you did not remember the days of your youth, but enraged Me with all these things, I will surely bring your deeds down upon your own head, declares the Lord GOD. Have you not committed this lewdness on top of all your other abominations?	Because you have not remembered the days of your youth, but have enraged me with all these things, therefore, behold, I have returned your deeds upon your head, declares the Lord GOD. Have you not committed lewdness in addition to all your abominations?	Because thou hast not remembered the days of thy youth, but hast fretted me in all these <i>things</i>; behold, therefore I also will recompense thy way upon <i>thine</i> head, saith the Lord GOD: and thou shalt not commit this lewdness above all thine abominations.	Since you have not remembered the days of your youth but have caused Me unrest by all these things, behold, I in turn will bring your conduct <i>down</i> on your own head,” declares the Lord GOD, “so that you will not commit this outrageous sin in addition to all your <i>other</i> abominations.	“’Because you did not remember the days of your youth but enraged me with all these things, I will surely bring down on your head what you have done, declares the Sovereign LORD. Did you not add lewdness to all your other detestable practices?
44	Behold, all who speak in proverbs will quote this proverb about you: ‘Like mother, like daughter.’	“Behold, everyone who uses proverbs will use this proverb about you: ‘Like mother, like daughter.’	Behold, every one that useth proverbs shall use <i>this</i> proverb against thee, saying, As <i>is</i> the mother, <i>so is</i> her daughter.	“Behold, everyone who quotes proverbs will quote <i>this</i> proverb about you, saying, ‘Like mother, like daughter.’	“’Everyone who quotes proverbs will quote this proverb about you: “Like mother, like daughter.”
45	You are the daughter of your mother, who despised her husband and children. You are the sister of your sisters, who despised their husbands and children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite.	You are the daughter of your mother, who loathed her husband and her children; and you are the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite.	Thou <i>art</i> thy mother's daughter, that lotheth her husband and her children; and thou <i>art</i> the sister of thy sisters, which lothed their husbands and their children: your mother <i>was</i> an Hittite, and your father an Amorite.	You are the daughter of your mother, who loathed her husband and children. You are also the sister of your sisters, who loathed their husbands and children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite.	You are a true daughter of your mother, who despised her husband and her children; and you are a true sister of your sisters, who despised their husbands and their children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite.
46	Your older sister was Samaria, who lived with her daughters to your north; and your younger sister was Sodom, who lived with her daughters to your south.	And your elder sister is Samaria, who lived with her daughters to the north of you; and your younger sister, who lived to the south of you, is Sodom with her daughters.	And thine elder sister <i>is</i> Samaria, she and her daughters that dwell at thy left hand: and thy younger sister, that dwelleth at thy right hand, <i>is</i> Sodom and her daughters.	Now your older sister is Samaria, who lives north of you with her daughters; and your younger sister, who lives south of you, is Sodom with her daughters.	Your older sister was Samaria, who lived to the north of you with her daughters; and your younger sister, who lived to the south of you with her daughters, was Sodom.
47	And you not only walked in their ways and practiced their abominations, but soon you were more depraved than they were.	Not only did you walk in their ways and do according to their abominations; within a very little time you were more corrupt than they in all your ways.	Yet hast thou not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations: but, as <i>if that were</i> a very little <i>thing</i>, thou wast corrupted more than they in all thy ways.	Yet you have not <i>merely</i> walked in their ways and committed their abominations; <i>but,</i> as <i>if that were</i> too little, you also acted more corruptly in all your conduct than they.	You not only followed their ways and copied their detestable practices, but in all your ways you soon became more depraved than they.
48	As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, your sister Sodom and her daughters never did as you and your daughters have done.	As I live, declares the Lord GOD, your sister Sodom and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done.	<i>As</i> I live, saith the Lord GOD, Sodom thy sister hath not done, she nor her daughters, as thou hast done, thou and thy daughters.	As I live,” declares the Lord GOD, “Sodom, your sister and her daughters have not done as you and your daughters have done!	As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, your sister Sodom and her daughters never did what you and your daughters have done.
49	Now this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed, and complacent; they did not help the poor and needy.	Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had pride, excess of food, and prosperous ease, but did not aid the poor and needy.	Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.	Behold, this was the guilt of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had arrogance, plenty of food, and carefree ease, but she did not help the poor and needy.	“’Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.
50	Thus they were haughty and committed abominations before Me. Therefore I removed them, as you have seen.	They were haughty and did an abomination before me. So I removed them, when I saw it.	And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw <i>good</i>.	So they were haughty and committed abominations before Me. Therefore I removed them when I saw <i>it.</i>	They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.
51	Furthermore, Samaria did not commit half the sins you did. You have multiplied your abominations beyond theirs, and all the abominations you have committed have made your sisters appear righteous.	Samaria has not committed half your sins. You have committed more abominations than they, and have made your sisters appear righteous by all the abominations that you have committed.	Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters in all thine abominations which thou hast done.	Furthermore, Samaria did not commit half of your sins, for you have multiplied your abominations more than they. So you have made your sisters appear innocent by all your abominations which you have committed.	Samaria did not commit half the sins you did. You have done more detestable things than they, and have made your sisters seem righteous by all these things you have done.
52	So now you must bear your disgrace, since you have brought justification for your sisters. For they appear more righteous than you, because your sins were more vile than theirs. So you too must bear your shame and disgrace, since you have made your sisters appear righteous.	Bear your disgrace, you also, for you have intervened on behalf of your sisters. Because of your sins in which you acted more abominably than they, they are more in the right than you. So be ashamed, you also, and bear your disgrace, for you have made your sisters appear righteous.	Thou also, which hast judged thy sisters, bear thine own shame for thy sins that thou hast committed more abominable than they: they are more righteous than thou: yea, be thou confounded also, and bear thy shame, in that thou hast justified thy sisters.	Also, bear your disgrace in that you have made judgment favorable for your sisters. Because of your sins in which you acted more abominably than they, they are more in the right than you. Yes, be also ashamed and bear your disgrace, in that you made your sisters appear innocent.	Bear your disgrace, for you have furnished some justification for your sisters. Because your sins were more vile than theirs, they appear more righteous than you. So then, be ashamed and bear your disgrace, for you have made your sisters appear righteous.
53	But I will restore Sodom and her daughters from captivity, as well as Samaria and her daughters. And I will restore you along with them.	“I will restore their fortunes, both the fortunes of Sodom and her daughters, and the fortunes of Samaria and her daughters, and I will restore your own fortunes in their midst,	When I shall bring again their captivity, the captivity of Sodom and her daughters, and the captivity of Samaria and her daughters, then <i>will I bring again</i> the captivity of thy captives in the midst of them:	“Nevertheless, I will restore their fortunes, the fortunes of Sodom and her daughters, the fortunes of Samaria and her daughters, and along with them your own fortunes,	“’However, I will restore the fortunes of Sodom and her daughters and of Samaria and her daughters, and your fortunes along with them,
54	So you will bear your disgrace and be ashamed of all you did to comfort them.	that you may bear your disgrace and be ashamed of all that you have done, becoming a consolation to them.	That thou mayest bear thine own shame, and mayest be confounded in all that thou hast done, in that thou art a comfort unto them.	so that you will bear your disgrace and feel ashamed for all that you have done when you become a consolation to them.	so that you may bear your disgrace and be ashamed of all you have done in giving them comfort.
55	And your sisters, Sodom with her daughters and Samaria with her daughters, will return to their former state. You and your daughters will also return to your former state.	As for your sisters, Sodom and her daughters shall return to their former state, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former state, and you and your daughters shall return to your former state.	When thy sisters, Sodom and her daughters, shall return to their former estate, and Samaria and her daughters shall return to their former estate, then thou and thy daughters shall return to your former estate.	Your sisters, Sodom with her daughters and Samaria with her daughters, will return to their former state, and you with your daughters will <i>also</i> return to your former state.	And your sisters, Sodom with her daughters and Samaria with her daughters, will return to what they were before; and you and your daughters will return to what you were before.
56	Did you not treat your sister Sodom as an object of scorn in the day of your pride,	Was not your sister Sodom a byword in your mouth in the day of your pride,	For thy sister Sodom was not mentioned by thy mouth in the day of thy pride,	As <i>the name of</i> your sister Sodom was not heard from your lips in your day of pride,	You would not even mention your sister Sodom in the day of your pride,
57	before your wickedness was uncovered? Even so, you are now scorned by the daughters of Edom and all those around her, and by the daughters of the Philistines— all those around you who despise you.	before your wickedness was uncovered? Now you have become an object of reproach for the daughters of Syria and all those around her, and for the daughters of the Philistines, those all around who despise you.	Before thy wickedness was discovered, as at the time of <i>thy</i> reproach of the daughters of Syria, and all <i>that are</i> round about her, the daughters of the Philistines, which despise thee round about.	before your wickedness was uncovered, so now <i>you have become</i> the disgrace of the daughters of Edom and of all who are around her, of the daughters of the Philistines—those surrounding <i>you</i> who despise you.	before your wickedness was uncovered. Even so, you are now scorned by the daughters of Edom and all her neighbors and the daughters of the Philistines—all those around you who despise you.
58	You will bear the consequences of your lewdness and your abominations, declares the LORD.	You bear the penalty of your lewdness and your abominations, declares the LORD.	Thou hast borne thy lewdness and thine abominations, saith the LORD.	You have suffered <i>the penalty of</i> your outrageous sin and abominations,” the LORD declares.	You will bear the consequences of your lewdness and your detestable practices, declares the LORD.
59	For this is what the Lord GOD says: I will deal with you according to your deeds, since you have despised the oath by breaking the covenant.	“For thus says the Lord GOD: I will deal with you as you have done, you who have despised the oath in breaking the covenant,	For thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even deal with thee as thou hast done, which hast despised the oath in breaking the covenant.	For this is what the Lord GOD says: “I will also do with you as you have done, you who have despised the oath by breaking the covenant.	“’This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will deal with you as you deserve, because you have despised my oath by breaking the covenant.
60	But I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.	yet I will remember my covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish for you an everlasting covenant.	Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.	“Nevertheless, I will remember My covenant with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.	Yet I will remember the covenant I made with you in the days of your youth, and I will establish an everlasting covenant with you.
61	Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your older and younger sisters. I will give them to you as daughters, but not because of My covenant with you.	Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you take your sisters, both your elder and your younger, and I give them to you as daughters, but not on account of the covenant with you.	Then thou shalt remember thy ways, and be ashamed, when thou shalt receive thy sisters, thine elder and thy younger: and I will give them unto thee for daughters, but not by thy covenant.	Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your sisters, <i>both</i> your older and your younger; and I will give them to you as daughters, but not because of your covenant.	Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your sisters, both those who are older than you and those who are younger. I will give them to you as daughters, but not on the basis of my covenant with you.
62	So I will establish My covenant with you, and you will know that I am the LORD,	I will establish my covenant with you, and you shall know that I am the LORD,	And I will establish my covenant with thee; and thou shalt know that I <i>am</i> the LORD:	So I will establish My covenant with you, and you shall know that I am the LORD,	So I will establish my covenant with you, and you will know that I am the LORD.
63	so that when I make atonement for all you have done, you will remember and be ashamed and never again open your mouth because of your disgrace, declares the Lord GOD.”	that you may remember and be confounded, and never open your mouth again because of your shame, when I atone for you for all that you have done, declares the Lord GOD.”	That thou mayest remember, and be confounded, and never open thy mouth any more because of thy shame, when I am pacified toward thee for all that thou hast done, saith the Lord GOD.	so that you may remember and be ashamed, and not open your mouth again because of your disgrace, when I have forgiven you for all that you have done,” the Lord GOD declares.	Then, when I make atonement for you for all you have done, you will remember and be ashamed and never again open your mouth because of your humiliation, declares the Sovereign LORD.’”
