Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come!1Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς μαθητὰς αὐτοῦ Ἀνένδεκτόν ἐστιν τοῦ τὰ σκάνδαλα μὴ ἐλθεῖν πλὴν* οὐαὶ δι’ οὗ ἔρχεται
It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.2λυσιτελεῖ αὐτῷ εἰ λίθος μυλικὸς περίκειται περὶ τὸν τράχηλον αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔρριπται εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν ἵνα σκανδαλίσῃ τῶν μικρῶν τούτων ἕνα
Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him.3Προσέχετε ἑαυτοῖς ἐὰν ἁμάρτῃ ἀδελφός σου ἐπιτίμησον αὐτῷ καὶ ἐὰν μετανοήσῃ ἄφες αὐτῷ
And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”4καὶ ἐὰν ἑπτάκις τῆς ἡμέρας ἁμαρτήσῃ εἰς σὲ καὶ ἑπτάκις ἐπιστρέψῃ πρὸς σὲ λέγων Μετανοῶ ἀφήσεις αὐτῷ
And the apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”5Καὶ εἶπαν οἱ ἀπόστολοι τῷ Κυρίῳ Πρόσθες ἡμῖν πίστιν
So the Lord said, “If you have faith as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be pulled up by the roots and be planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.6Εἶπεν δὲ Κύριος Εἰ ἔχετε πίστιν ὡς κόκκον σινάπεως ἐλέγετε ἂν τῇ συκαμίνῳ ταύτῃ Ἐκριζώθητι καὶ φυτεύθητι ἐν τῇ θαλάσσῃ καὶ ὑπήκουσεν ἂν ὑμῖν
And which of you, having a servant plowing or tending sheep, will say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and sit down to eat’?7Τίς δὲ ἐξ ὑμῶν δοῦλον ἔχων ἀροτριῶντα ποιμαίνοντα ὃς εἰσελθόντι ἐκ τοῦ ἀγροῦ ἐρεῖ αὐτῷ Εὐθέως παρελθὼν ἀνάπεσε
But will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare something for my supper, and gird yourself and serve me till I have eaten and drunk, and afterward you will eat and drink’?8ἀλλ’ οὐχὶ ἐρεῖ αὐτῷ Ἑτοίμασον τί δειπνήσω καὶ περιζωσάμενος διακόνει μοι ἕως φάγω καὶ πίω καὶ μετὰ ταῦτα φάγεσαι καὶ πίεσαι σύ
Does he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I think not.9μὴ ἔχει χάριν τῷ δούλῳ ὅτι ἐποίησεν τὰ διαταχθέντα
So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.’
Now it happened as He went to Jerusalem that He passed through the midst of Samaria and Galilee.11Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ πορεύεσθαι εἰς Ἰερουσαλὴμ καὶ αὐτὸς διήρχετο διὰ μέσον Σαμαρείας καὶ Γαλιλαίας
Then as He entered a certain village, there met Him ten men who were lepers, who stood afar off.12καὶ εἰσερχομένου αὐτοῦ εἴς τινα κώμην ἀπήντησαν [αὐτῷ] δέκα λεπροὶ ἄνδρες οἳ ἔστησαν πόρρωθεν
And they lifted up their voices and said, “Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!”13καὶ αὐτοὶ ἦραν φωνὴν λέγοντες Ἰησοῦ Ἐπιστάτα ἐλέησον ἡμᾶς
So when He saw them, He said to them, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And so it was that as they went, they were cleansed.14Καὶ ἰδὼν εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Πορευθέντες ἐπιδείξατε ἑαυτοὺς τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ ὑπάγειν αὐτοὺς ἐκαθαρίσθησαν
And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, and with a loud voice glorified God,15Εἷς δὲ ἐξ αὐτῶν ἰδὼν ὅτι ἰάθη ὑπέστρεψεν μετὰ φωνῆς μεγάλης δοξάζων τὸν Θεόν
and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. And he was a Samaritan.16καὶ ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον παρὰ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ εὐχαριστῶν αὐτῷ καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν Σαμαρίτης
So Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But where are the nine?17Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν Οὐχὶ* οἱ δέκα ἐκαθαρίσθησαν οἱ δὲ ἐννέα ποῦ
Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?”18οὐχ εὑρέθησαν ὑποστρέψαντες δοῦναι δόξαν τῷ Θεῷ εἰ μὴ ἀλλογενὴς οὗτος
And He said to him, “Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well.”19καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Ἀναστὰς πορεύου πίστις σου σέσωκέν σε
Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation;20Ἐπερωτηθεὶς δὲ ὑπὸ τῶν Φαρισαίων πότε ἔρχεται βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς καὶ εἶπεν Οὐκ ἔρχεται βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ μετὰ παρατηρήσεως
nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”21οὐδὲ ἐροῦσιν Ἰδοὺ ὧδε Ἐκεῖ ἰδοὺ γὰρ βασιλεία τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐντὸς ὑμῶν ἐστιν
Then He said to the disciples, “The days will come when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it.22Εἶπεν δὲ πρὸς τοὺς μαθητάς Ἐλεύσονται ἡμέραι ὅτε ἐπιθυμήσετε μίαν τῶν ἡμερῶν τοῦ Υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἰδεῖν καὶ οὐκ ὄψεσθε
And they will say to you, ‘Look here!’ or ‘Look there!’ Do not go after them or follow them.23καὶ ἐροῦσιν ὑμῖν Ἰδοὺ ἐκεῖ [ἤ] Ἰδοὺ ὧδε μὴ ἀπέλθητε μηδὲ διώξητε
For as the lightning that flashes out of one part under heaven shines to the other part under heaven, so also the Son of Man will be in His day.24ὥσπερ γὰρ ἀστραπὴ ἀστράπτουσα ἐκ τῆς ὑπὸ τὸν οὐρανὸν εἰς τὴν ὑπ’ οὐρανὸν λάμπει οὕτως ἔσται Υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ αὐτοῦ
But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.25πρῶτον δὲ δεῖ αὐτὸν πολλὰ παθεῖν καὶ ἀποδοκιμασθῆναι ἀπὸ τῆς γενεᾶς ταύτης
And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:26Καὶ καθὼς ἐγένετο ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις Νῶε οὕτως ἔσται καὶ ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις τοῦ Υἱοῦ τοῦ ἀνθρώπου
They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.27ἤσθιον ἔπινον ἐγάμουν ἐγαμίζοντο ἄχρι ἧς ἡμέρας εἰσῆλθεν Νῶε εἰς τὴν κιβωτόν καὶ ἦλθεν κατακλυσμὸς καὶ ἀπώλεσεν πάντας
Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built;28Ὁμοίως καθὼς ἐγένετο ἐν ταῖς ἡμέραις Λώτ ἤσθιον ἔπινον ἠγόραζον ἐπώλουν ἐφύτευον ᾠκοδόμουν
but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.29 δὲ ἡμέρᾳ ἐξῆλθεν Λὼτ ἀπὸ Σοδόμων ἔβρεξεν πῦρ καὶ θεῖον ἀπ’ οὐρανοῦ καὶ ἀπώλεσεν πάντας
Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.30Κατὰ τὰ αὐτὰ ἔσται ἡμέρᾳ Υἱὸς τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἀποκαλύπτεται
“In that day, he who is on the housetop, and his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back.31ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ὃς ἔσται ἐπὶ τοῦ δώματος καὶ τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ ἐν τῇ οἰκίᾳ μὴ καταβάτω ἆραι αὐτά καὶ ἐν ἀγρῷ ὁμοίως μὴ ἐπιστρεψάτω εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω
Remember Lot’s wife.32μνημονεύετε τῆς γυναικὸς Λώτ
Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.33ὃς ἐὰν ζητήσῃ τὴν ψυχὴν αὐτοῦ περιποιήσασθαι ἀπολέσει αὐτήν ὃς δ’* ἂν ἀπολέσῃ* ζωογονήσει αὐτήν
I tell you, in that night there will be two men in one bed: the one will be taken and the other will be left.34λέγω ὑμῖν ταύτῃ τῇ νυκτὶ ἔσονται δύο ἐπὶ κλίνης μιᾶς εἷς παραλημφθήσεται καὶ ἕτερος ἀφεθήσεται
Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left.35ἔσονται δύο ἀλήθουσαι ἐπὶ τὸ αὐτό μία παραλημφθήσεται δὲ ἑτέρα ἀφεθήσεται
Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.”36{δύο ἔσονται ἐν τῷ ἀγρῷ εἷς παραληφθήσεται καὶ ἕτερος ἀφεθήσεται}
And they answered and said to Him, “Where, Lord?” So He said to them, “Wherever the body is, there the eagles will be gathered together.”37Καὶ ἀποκριθέντες λέγουσιν αὐτῷ Ποῦ Κύριε δὲ εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Ὅπου τὸ σῶμα ἐκεῖ καὶ οἱ ἀετοὶ ἐπισυναχθήσονται
