1When they approached Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany near the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples1Καὶ ὅτε ἐγγίζουσιν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα εἰς Βηθφαγὴ καὶ Βηθανίαν πρὸς τὸ ὄρος τῶν Ἐλαιῶν ἀποστέλλει δύο τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ
2and told them, "Go into the village ahead of you. As soon as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it.2καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς Ὑπάγετε εἰς τὴν κώμην τὴν κατέναντι ὑμῶν καὶ εὐθὺς εἰσπορευόμενοι εἰς αὐτὴν εὑρήσετε πῶλον δεδεμένον ἐφ’ ὃν οὐδεὶς οὔπω ἀνθρώπων ἐκάθισεν λύσατε αὐτὸν καὶ φέρετε
3If anyone says to you, 'Why are you doing this?' say, 'The Lord needs it and will send it back here right away.'"3καὶ ἐάν τις ὑμῖν εἴπῃ Τί ποιεῖτε τοῦτο εἴπατε ‹Ὅτι› Κύριος αὐτοῦ χρείαν ἔχει καὶ εὐθὺς αὐτὸν ἀποστέλλει πάλιν ὧδε
4So they went and found a colt outside in the street, tied by a door. They untied it,4Καὶ ἀπῆλθον καὶ εὗρον πῶλον δεδεμένον πρὸς θύραν ἔξω ἐπὶ τοῦ ἀμφόδου καὶ λύουσιν αὐτόν
5and some of those standing there said to them, "What are you doing, untying the colt?"5καί τινες τῶν ἐκεῖ ἑστηκότων ἔλεγον αὐτοῖς Τί ποιεῖτε λύοντες τὸν πῶλον
6They answered them just as Jesus had said; so they let them go.6Οἱ δὲ εἶπαν αὐτοῖς καθὼς εἶπεν Ἰησοῦς καὶ ἀφῆκαν αὐτούς
7They brought the donkey to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and he sat on it.7καὶ φέρουσιν τὸν πῶλον πρὸς τὸν Ἰησοῦν καὶ ἐπιβάλλουσιν αὐτῷ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐπ’ αὐτόν
8Many people spread their clothes on the road, and others spread leafy branches cut from the fields.8Καὶ πολλοὶ τὰ ἱμάτια αὐτῶν ἔστρωσαν εἰς τὴν ὁδόν ἄλλοι δὲ στιβάδας κόψαντες ἐκ τῶν ἀγρῶν
9Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted: Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!9καὶ οἱ προάγοντες καὶ οἱ ἀκολουθοῦντες ἔκραζον Ὡσαννά Εὐλογημένος ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου
10Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!10Εὐλογημένη ἐρχομένη βασιλεία τοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν Δαυίδ Ὡσαννὰ ἐν τοῖς ὑψίστοις
11He went into Jerusalem and into the temple. After looking around at everything, since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.11Καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα εἰς τὸ ἱερόν καὶ περιβλεψάμενος πάντα ὀψὲ ἤδη οὔσης τῆς ὥρας ἐξῆλθεν εἰς Βηθανίαν μετὰ τῶν δώδεκα
12The next day when they went out from Bethany, he was hungry.12Καὶ τῇ ἐπαύριον ἐξελθόντων αὐτῶν ἀπὸ Βηθανίας ἐπείνασεν
13Seeing in the distance a fig tree with leaves, he went to find out if there was anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for it was not the season for figs.13καὶ ἰδὼν συκῆν ἀπὸ μακρόθεν ἔχουσαν φύλλα ἦλθεν εἰ ἄρα τι εὑρήσει ἐν αὐτῇ καὶ ἐλθὼν ἐπ’ αὐτὴν οὐδὲν εὗρεν εἰ μὴ φύλλα γὰρ καιρὸς οὐκ ἦν σύκων
14He said to it, "May no one ever eat fruit from you again!" And his disciples heard it.14καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτῇ Μηκέτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἐκ σοῦ μηδεὶς καρπὸν φάγοι καὶ ἤκουον οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ
15They came to Jerusalem, and he went into the temple and began to throw out those buying and selling. He overturned the tables of the money changers and the chairs of those selling doves,15Καὶ ἔρχονται εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα Καὶ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν ἤρξατο ἐκβάλλειν τοὺς πωλοῦντας καὶ τοὺς ἀγοράζοντας ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ καὶ τὰς τραπέζας τῶν κολλυβιστῶν καὶ τὰς καθέδρας τῶν πωλούντων τὰς περιστερὰς κατέστρεψεν
16and would not permit anyone to carry goods through the temple.16καὶ οὐκ ἤφιεν ἵνα τις διενέγκῃ σκεῦος διὰ τοῦ ἱεροῦ
17He was teaching them: "Is it not written, My house will be called a house of prayer for all nations? But you have made it a den of thieves!"17καὶ ἐδίδασκεν καὶ ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς Οὐ γέγραπται ὅτι οἶκός μου οἶκος προσευχῆς κληθήσεται πᾶσιν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν ὑμεῖς δὲ πεποιήκατε αὐτὸν Σπήλαιον λῃστῶν
18The chief priests and the scribes heard it and started looking for a way to kill him. For they were afraid of him, because the whole crowd was astonished by his teaching.18Καὶ ἤκουσαν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ ἐζήτουν πῶς αὐτὸν ἀπολέσωσιν ἐφοβοῦντο γὰρ αὐτόν πᾶς γὰρ ὄχλος ἐξεπλήσσετο ἐπὶ τῇ διδαχῇ αὐτοῦ
19Whenever evening came, they would go out of the city.19Καὶ ὅταν ὀψὲ ἐγένετο ἐξεπορεύοντο ἔξω τῆς πόλεως
20Early in the morning, as they were passing by, they saw the fig tree withered from the roots up.20Καὶ παραπορευόμενοι πρωῒ εἶδον τὴν συκῆν ἐξηραμμένην ἐκ ῥιζῶν
21Then Peter remembered and said to him, "Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered."21καὶ ἀναμνησθεὶς Πέτρος λέγει αὐτῷ Ῥαββί ἴδε συκῆ ἣν κατηράσω ἐξήρανται
22Jesus replied to them, "Have faith in God.22Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς Ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτοῖς Ἔχετε πίστιν θεοῦ
23Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.23ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ὃς ἂν εἴπῃ τῷ ὄρει τούτῳ Ἄρθητι καὶ βλήθητι εἰς τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ μὴ διακριθῇ ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ αὐτοῦ ἀλλὰ πιστεύῃ ὅτι λαλεῖ γίνεται ἔσται αὐτῷ
24Therefore I tell you, everything you pray and ask for--believe that you have received it and it will be yours.24διὰ τοῦτο λέγω ὑμῖν πάντα ὅσα προσεύχεσθε καὶ αἰτεῖσθε πιστεύετε ὅτι ἐλάβετε καὶ ἔσται ὑμῖν
25And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven will also forgive you your wrongdoing."25Καὶ ὅταν στήκετε προσευχόμενοι ἀφίετε εἴ τι ἔχετε κατά τινος ἵνα καὶ Πατὴρ ὑμῶν ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς ἀφῇ ὑμῖν τὰ παραπτώματα ὑμῶν
27They came again to Jerusalem. As he was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came27Καὶ ἔρχονται πάλιν εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα καὶ ἐν τῷ ἱερῷ περιπατοῦντος αὐτοῦ ἔρχονται πρὸς αὐτὸν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς καὶ οἱ πρεσβύτεροι
28and asked him, "By what authority are you doing these things? Who gave you this authority to do these things?"28καὶ ἔλεγον αὐτῷ Ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιεῖς τίς σοι ἔδωκεν τὴν ἐξουσίαν ταύτην ἵνα ταῦτα ποιῇς
29Jesus said to them, "I will ask you one question; then answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.29 δὲ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς Ἐπερωτήσω ὑμᾶς ἕνα λόγον καὶ ἀποκρίθητέ μοι καὶ ἐρῶ ὑμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ
30Was John's baptism from heaven or of human origin? Answer me."30τὸ βάπτισμα τὸ Ἰωάννου ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἦν ἐξ ἀνθρώπων ἀποκρίθητέ μοι
31They discussed it among themselves: "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will say, 'Then why didn't you believe him?'31Καὶ διελογίζοντο πρὸς ἑαυτοὺς λέγοντες ‹Τί εἴπωμεν› Ἐὰν εἴπωμεν Ἐξ οὐρανοῦ ἐρεῖ Διὰ τί οὖν οὐκ ἐπιστεύσατε αὐτῷ
32But if we say, 'Of human origin'"--they were afraid of the crowd, because everyone thought that John was truly a prophet.32ἀλλὰ εἴπωμεν Ἐξ ἀνθρώπων ἐφοβοῦντο τὸν ὄχλον ἅπαντες γὰρ εἶχον τὸν Ἰωάννην ὄντως ὅτι προφήτης ἦν
33So they answered Jesus, "We don't know." And Jesus said to them, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things."33καὶ ἀποκριθέντες τῷ Ἰησοῦ λέγουσιν Οὐκ οἴδαμεν Καὶ Ἰησοῦς λέγει αὐτοῖς Οὐδὲ ἐγὼ λέγω ὑμῖν ἐν ποίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ ταῦτα ποιῶ
