Again he entered the synagogue, and a man was there with a withered hand.1Καὶ εἰσῆλθεν πάλιν εἰς [τὴν] συναγωγήν καὶ ἦν ἐκεῖ ἄνθρωπος ἐξηραμμένην ἔχων τὴν χεῖρα
And they watched Jesus, to see whether he would heal him on the Sabbath, so that they might accuse him.2καὶ παρετήρουν αὐτὸν εἰ τοῖς σάββασιν θεραπεύσει αὐτόν ἵνα κατηγορήσωσιν αὐτοῦ
And he said to the man with the withered hand, “Come here.”3Καὶ λέγει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τῷ τὴν «χεῖρα ἔχοντι» ξηράν Ἔγειρε εἰς τὸ μέσον
And he said to them, “Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do harm, to save life or to kill?” But they were silent.4καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς Ἔξεστιν τοῖς σάββασιν ἀγαθὸν¦ποιῆσαι κακοποιῆσαι ψυχὴν σῶσαι ἀποκτεῖναι Οἱ δὲ ἐσιώπων
And he looked around at them with anger, grieved at their hardness of heart, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was restored.5Καὶ περιβλεψάμενος αὐτοὺς μετ’ ὀργῆς συλλυπούμενος* ἐπὶ τῇ πωρώσει τῆς καρδίας αὐτῶν λέγει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ Ἔκτεινον τὴν χεῖρα (σου) καὶ ἐξέτεινεν καὶ ἀπεκατεστάθη χεὶρ αὐτοῦ
The Pharisees went out and immediately held counsel with the Herodians against him, how to destroy him.6Καὶ ἐξελθόντες οἱ Φαρισαῖοι εὐθὺς μετὰ τῶν Ἡρῳδιανῶν συμβούλιον ἐδίδουν κατ’ αὐτοῦ ὅπως αὐτὸν ἀπολέσωσιν
Jesus withdrew with his disciples to the sea, and a great crowd followed, from Galilee and Judea7Καὶ Ἰησοῦς μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ ἀνεχώρησεν πρὸς τὴν θάλασσαν καὶ πολὺ πλῆθος ἀπὸ τῆς Γαλιλαίας ἠκολούθησεν καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰουδαίας
and Jerusalem and Idumea and from beyond the Jordan and from around Tyre and Sidon. When the great crowd heard all that he was doing, they came to him.8καὶ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰδουμαίας καὶ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου καὶ περὶ Τύρον καὶ Σιδῶνα πλῆθος πολύ ἀκούοντες ὅσα ἐποίει* ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτόν
And he told his disciples to have a boat ready for him because of the crowd, lest they crush him,9Καὶ εἶπεν τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ἵνα πλοιάριον προσκαρτερῇ αὐτῷ διὰ τὸν ὄχλον ἵνα μὴ θλίβωσιν αὐτόν
for he had healed many, so that all who had diseases pressed around him to touch him.10πολλοὺς γὰρ ἐθεράπευσεν ὥστε ἐπιπίπτειν αὐτῷ ἵνα αὐτοῦ ἅψωνται ὅσοι εἶχον μάστιγας
And whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and cried out, “You are the Son of God.”11καὶ τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα ὅταν αὐτὸν ἐθεώρουν προσέπιπτον αὐτῷ καὶ ἔκραζον λέγοντα ὅτι Σὺ εἶ Υἱὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ
And he strictly ordered them not to make him known.12καὶ πολλὰ ἐπετίμα αὐτοῖς ἵνα μὴ αὐτὸν φανερὸν ποιήσωσιν
And he went up on the mountain and called to him those whom he desired, and they came to him.13Καὶ ἀναβαίνει εἰς τὸ ὄρος καὶ προσκαλεῖται οὓς ἤθελεν αὐτός καὶ ἀπῆλθον πρὸς αὐτόν
And he appointed twelve (whom he also named apostles) so that they might be with him and he might send them out to preach14καὶ ἐποίησεν δώδεκα [οὓς καὶ ἀποστόλους ὠνόμασεν] ἵνα ὦσιν μετ’ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἵνα ἀποστέλλῃ αὐτοὺς κηρύσσειν
and have authority to cast out demons.15καὶ ἔχειν ἐξουσίαν ἐκβάλλειν τὰ δαιμόνια
He appointed the twelve: Simon (to whom he gave the name Peter);16Καὶ ἐποίησεν τοὺς δώδεκα καὶ ἐπέθηκεν ὄνομα τῷ Σίμωνι Πέτρον
James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James (to whom he gave the name Boanerges, that is, Sons of Thunder);17καὶ Ἰάκωβον τὸν τοῦ Ζεβεδαίου καὶ Ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν τοῦ Ἰακώβου καὶ ἐπέθηκεν αὐτοῖς ὀνόματα* Βοανηργές ἐστιν Υἱοὶ Βροντῆς
Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Zealot,18καὶ Ἀνδρέαν καὶ Φίλιππον καὶ Βαρθολομαῖον καὶ Μαθθαῖον καὶ Θωμᾶν καὶ Ἰάκωβον τὸν τοῦ Ἁλφαίου καὶ Θαδδαῖον καὶ Σίμωνα τὸν Καναναῖον
and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him.19καὶ Ἰούδαν Ἰσκαριώθ ὃς καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτόν
Then he went home, and the crowd gathered again, so that they could not even eat.20Καὶ ἔρχεται εἰς οἶκον καὶ συνέρχεται πάλιν ὄχλος ὥστε μὴ δύνασθαι αὐτοὺς μηδὲ ἄρτον φαγεῖν
And when his family heard it, they went out to seize him, for they were saying, “He is out of his mind.”21καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ παρ’ αὐτοῦ ἐξῆλθον κρατῆσαι αὐτόν ἔλεγον γὰρ ὅτι Ἐξέστη
And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.”22Καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς οἱ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων καταβάντες ἔλεγον ὅτι Βεελζεβοὺλ ἔχει καὶ ὅτι Ἐν τῷ ἄρχοντι τῶν δαιμονίων ἐκβάλλει τὰ δαιμόνια
And he called them to him and said to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan?23Καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτοὺς ἐν παραβολαῖς ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς Πῶς δύναται Σατανᾶς Σατανᾶν ἐκβάλλειν
If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.24καὶ ἐὰν βασιλεία ἐφ’ ἑαυτὴν μερισθῇ οὐ δύναται σταθῆναι βασιλεία ἐκείνη
And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.25καὶ ἐὰν οἰκία ἐφ’ ἑαυτὴν μερισθῇ οὐ δυνήσεται οἰκία ἐκείνη σταθῆναι*
And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but is coming to an end.26καὶ εἰ Σατανᾶς ἀνέστη ἐφ’ ἑαυτὸν καὶ ἐμερίσθη οὐ δύναται στῆναι ἀλλὰ τέλος ἔχει
But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. Then indeed he may plunder his house.27ἀλλ’ οὐ δύναται οὐδεὶς εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν τοῦ ἰσχυροῦ εἰσελθὼν τὰ σκεύη αὐτοῦ διαρπάσαι ἐὰν μὴ πρῶτον τὸν ἰσχυρὸν δήσῃ καὶ τότε τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ διαρπάσει
“Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter,28Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πάντα ἀφεθήσεται τοῖς υἱοῖς τῶν ἀνθρώπων τὰ ἁμαρτήματα καὶ αἱ βλασφημίαι ὅσα ἐὰν βλασφημήσωσιν
but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—29ὃς δ’ ἂν βλασφημήσῃ εἰς τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ Ἅγιον οὐκ ἔχει ἄφεσιν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἀλλὰ ἔνοχός ἐστιν αἰωνίου ἁμαρτήματος
for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”30Ὅτι ἔλεγον Πνεῦμα ἀκάθαρτον ἔχει
And his mother and his brothers came, and standing outside they sent to him and called him.31Καὶ ἔρχονται μήτηρ αὐτοῦ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔξω στήκοντες ἀπέστειλαν πρὸς αὐτὸν καλοῦντες αὐτόν
And a crowd was sitting around him, and they said to him, “Your mother and your brothers are outside, seeking you.”32καὶ ἐκάθητο περὶ αὐτὸν ὄχλος καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῷ Ἰδοὺ μήτηρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου καὶ αἱ ἀδελφαί σου ἔξω ζητοῦσίν σε
And he answered them, “Who are my mother and my brothers?”33Καὶ ἀποκριθεὶς αὐτοῖς λέγει Τίς ἐστιν μήτηρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί ‹μου›
And looking about at those who sat around him, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers!34καὶ περιβλεψάμενος τοὺς περὶ αὐτὸν κύκλῳ καθημένους λέγει Ἴδε μήτηρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου
For whoever does the will of God, he is my brother and sister and mother.”35ὃς ‹γὰρ› ἂν ποιήσῃ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ Θεοῦ οὗτος ἀδελφός μου καὶ ἀδελφὴ καὶ μήτηρ ἐστίν
