Berean Study Bible Let the Earth RejoiceGod rules as King over all creation, exercising absolute authority over nations, rulers, and history. His reign is marked by majesty, righteousness, and judgment, and it will be fully revealed when Christ establishes His everlasting kingdom. Psa 96:10 Declare among the nations: “The LORD reigns!”… let the earth rejoice; God’s righteous rule gives all creation cause for joy. His reign brings justice against evil and deliverance for those who belong to Him, fulfilling the hope that creation itself will be renewed. Psa 96:11 Let the heavens be glad and the earth rejoice;… let the distant shores be glad. The call reaches beyond Israel to the most remote nations. God’s kingship and salvation are not confined to one people or land; the nations are summoned to recognize His rule and rejoice in the coming reign of Christ. Isa 42:10 Sing to the LORD a new song—His praise… Clouds and darkness surround Him; God’s presence is veiled in majesty, recalling His descent at Sinai amid thick cloud, thunder, and darkness. He is near to His people, yet His glory remains beyond human sight and comprehension. Psa 18:11 He made darkness His hiding place, and storm clouds a canopy… righteousness and justice are His throne’s foundation. God rules with perfect moral integrity. His judgments are never arbitrary, and His authority rests on what is right. His reign will ultimately establish justice throughout the earth. Psa 89:14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne… Fire goes before Him God’s appearing is marked by the fearful display of His holy power. As He led Israel by fire in the wilderness, He remains fully able to guide His people and confront all opposition. Psa 50:3 Our God approaches and will not be silent!… and consumes His foes His judgment is neither delayed by weakness nor limited by human resistance. Those who set themselves against His rule face the consuming holiness that destroyed the wicked and will be revealed fully when Christ returns. Psa 21:9 You will place them in a fiery furnace… on every side. No enemy stands beyond His reach or escapes His authority. His judgment surrounds and overwhelms those who oppose Him, while confirming His sovereign protection of those who belong to Him. Psa 118:10-12 All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD… His lightning illuminates the world; God’s lightning reveals His sovereign power over creation. As at Sinai, where lightning marked His holy presence, the brilliance displays His majesty and makes clear that no part of the world is beyond His rule. Psa 77:18 Your thunder resounded in the whirlwind;… the earth sees and trembles. Creation responds to its Creator with fear and submission. Mountains, seas, and nations alike stand accountable before Him, and His appearing brings both the certainty of judgment and the recognition of His authority. Psa 114:7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord… The mountains melt like wax God’s appearing displays power before which even the most stable features of creation cannot stand. Mountains, regarded as ancient and immovable, yield completely when He reveals His glory. Jdg 5:5 The mountains quaked before the LORD, the One of Sinai,… at the presence of the LORD, The LORD is not distant from His creation. His holy presence brings judgment against evil and establishes His righteous rule, causing all nature to respond to its Creator. Psa 114:7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord… before the Lord of all the earth. Israel’s God reigns over every land, nation, and ruler. His authority is universal, and no part of creation lies outside His dominion. Jos 3:11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of the Lord of all the earth… The heavens proclaim His righteousness; The created order bears witness to God’s perfect justice, power, and moral purity. The heavens’ grandeur and order display the work of their Creator and testify that He rules over all things in righteousness. Psa 50:6 And the heavens proclaim His righteousness,… all the peoples see His glory. God’s majesty is not confined to Israel but is made known among every nation. His glory is revealed in His sovereign acts and ultimately in His righteous reign over the whole earth. Isa 40:5 And the glory of the LORD will be revealed… All worshipers of images are put to shame— Idolatry exposed the folly of trusting objects fashioned by human hands. Israel’s neighbors, including the Canaanites, Egyptians, and Babylonians, depended on images they believed represented divine powers, yet these gods could neither act nor save. Israel repeatedly fell into the same sin, bringing covenant judgment and exile. Isa 42:17 But those who trust in idols and say to molten images,… those who boast in idols. Confidence in idols revealed rebellion against the living God. Those who celebrated their false gods would ultimately face disgrace when their supposed protectors proved powerless. Isa 44:9 All makers of idols are nothing, and the things… Worship Him, all you gods! Every false deity and every spiritual power stands beneath the authority of the Lord. The command anticipates the day when all creation and every ruler will acknowledge God’s supreme reign. Deu 32:43 Rejoice, O heavens, with Him, and let all God's angels… Zion hears and rejoices, Zion, Jerusalem, rejoices at the Lord’s revealed rule over the nations. As the city associated with David’s throne and the temple, it represents the covenant people celebrating God’s presence, protection, and righteous reign. Psa 48:11 Mount Zion is glad, the daughters of Judah rejoice… and the towns of Judah exult The surrounding cities of Judah share Jerusalem’s joy. Their united response reflects the blessing of God’s justice upon the land and His faithfulness to the people descended from David’s tribe. Jer 33:10-11 This is what the LORD says: In this place you say… because of Your judgments, O LORD. God’s judgments expose wickedness, defend the righteous, and establish His order. What brings terror to those who oppose Him brings rejoicing to His people, who recognize His judgments as holy and true. Psa 9:8 He judges the world with justice; He governs the people… For You, O LORD, are Most High over all the earth; Yahweh reigns as Creator and rightful ruler of every land, nation, and people. His authority is not limited to Israel but extends over the whole world and all of history. The psalm celebrates His supremacy over creation and His judgment of wickedness. Psa 83:18 May they know that You alone, whose name is the LORD,… You are exalted far above all gods. The gods worshiped by surrounding nations were idols and false objects of worship, unable to rival the living God. Yahweh alone possesses true power, rules over all earthly authorities, and stands above every claimed deity. Psa 95:3 For the LORD is a great God, a great King above all gods. Hate evil, O you who love the LORD! Love for the holy God requires rejection of all that opposes His character and will. In Israel’s surrounding cultures, idolatry, injustice, and sexual immorality were common, yet God called His people to remain distinct from such practices. Genuine devotion to the LORD cannot be separated from moral opposition to sin. Amo 5:15 Hate evil and love good; establish justice… He preserves the souls of His saints; The LORD watches over those who belong to Him. Israel had seen His preserving care in deliverance from enemies, famine, exile, and national danger. His protection reaches beyond physical safety, for He keeps His faithful people in covenant relationship with Himself and secures their ultimate life. Psa 121:7 The LORD will guard you from all evil; He will preserve… He delivers them from the hand of the wicked. God rescues His people from the power of those who oppose Him and seek their harm.
