Therefore you are without excuse, whoever you are, when you judge someone else. For on whatever grounds you judge another, you condemn yourself, because you who judge practice the same things.1Διὸ ἀναπολόγητος εἶ ἄνθρωπε πᾶς κρίνων ἐν γὰρ κρίνεις τὸν ἕτερον σεαυτὸν κατακρίνεις τὰ γὰρ αὐτὰ πράσσεις κρίνων
Now we know that God's judgment is in accordance with truth against those who practice such things.2οἴδαμεν δὲ ὅτι τὸ κρίμα τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐστιν κατὰ ἀλήθειαν ἐπὶ τοὺς τὰ τοιαῦτα πράσσοντας
And do you think, whoever you are, when you judge those who practice such things and yet do them yourself, that you will escape God's judgment?3λογίζῃ δὲ τοῦτο ἄνθρωπε κρίνων τοὺς τὰ τοιαῦτα πράσσοντας καὶ ποιῶν αὐτά ὅτι σὺ ἐκφεύξῃ τὸ κρίμα τοῦ Θεοῦ
Or do you have contempt for the wealth of his kindness, forbearance, and patience, and yet do not know that God's kindness leads you to repentance?4 τοῦ πλούτου τῆς χρηστότητος αὐτοῦ καὶ τῆς ἀνοχῆς καὶ τῆς μακροθυμίας καταφρονεῖς ἀγνοῶν ὅτι τὸ χρηστὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ εἰς μετάνοιάν σε ἄγει
But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath for yourselves in the day of wrath, when God's righteous judgment is revealed!5Κατὰ δὲ τὴν σκληρότητά σου καὶ ἀμετανόητον καρδίαν θησαυρίζεις σεαυτῷ ὀργὴν ἐν ἡμέρᾳ ὀργῆς καὶ ἀποκαλύψεως δικαιοκρισίας τοῦ Θεοῦ
He will reward each one according to his works:6ὃς Ἀποδώσει ἑκάστῳ κατὰ τὰ ἔργα αὐτοῦ
eternal life to those who by perseverance in good works seek glory and honor and immortality,7τοῖς μὲν καθ’ ὑπομονὴν ἔργου ἀγαθοῦ δόξαν καὶ τιμὴν καὶ ἀφθαρσίαν ζητοῦσιν ζωὴν αἰώνιον
but wrath and anger to those who live in selfish ambition and do not obey the truth but follow unrighteousness.8τοῖς δὲ ἐξ ἐριθείας καὶ ἀπειθοῦσι τῇ ἀληθείᾳ πειθομένοις δὲ τῇ ἀδικίᾳ ὀργὴ καὶ θυμός
There will be affliction and distress on everyone who does evil, on the Jew first and also the Greek,9θλῖψις καὶ στενοχωρία ἐπὶ πᾶσαν ψυχὴν ἀνθρώπου τοῦ κατεργαζομένου τὸ κακόν Ἰουδαίου τε πρῶτον καὶ Ἕλληνος
but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, for the Jew first and also the Greek.10δόξα δὲ καὶ τιμὴ καὶ εἰρήνη παντὶ τῷ ἐργαζομένῳ τὸ ἀγαθόν Ἰουδαίῳ τε πρῶτον καὶ Ἕλληνι
For there is no partiality with God.11οὐ γάρ ἐστιν προσωπολημψία παρὰ τῷ Θεῷ
For all who have sinned apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law.12Ὅσοι γὰρ ἀνόμως ἥμαρτον ἀνόμως καὶ ἀπολοῦνται καὶ ὅσοι ἐν νόμῳ ἥμαρτον διὰ νόμου κριθήσονται
For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous before God, but those who do the law will be declared righteous.13οὐ γὰρ οἱ ἀκροαταὶ νόμου δίκαιοι παρὰ τῷ Θεῷ ἀλλ’ οἱ ποιηταὶ νόμου δικαιωθήσονται
For whenever the Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature the things required by the law, these who do not have the law are a law to themselves.14Ὅταν γὰρ ἔθνη τὰ μὴ νόμον ἔχοντα φύσει τὰ τοῦ νόμου ποιῶσιν οὗτοι νόμον μὴ ἔχοντες ἑαυτοῖς εἰσιν νόμος
They show that the work of the law is written in their hearts, as their conscience bears witness and their conflicting thoughts accuse or else defend them,15οἵτινες ἐνδείκνυνται τὸ ἔργον τοῦ νόμου γραπτὸν ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις αὐτῶν συμμαρτυρούσης αὐτῶν τῆς συνειδήσεως καὶ μεταξὺ ἀλλήλων τῶν λογισμῶν κατηγορούντων καὶ ἀπολογουμένων
on the day when God will judge the secrets of human hearts, according to my gospel through Christ Jesus.
But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast of your relationship to God17Εἰ δὲ σὺ Ἰουδαῖος ἐπονομάζῃ καὶ ἐπαναπαύῃ νόμῳ καὶ καυχᾶσαι ἐν Θεῷ
and know his will and approve the superior things because you receive instruction from the law,18καὶ γινώσκεις τὸ θέλημα καὶ δοκιμάζεις τὰ διαφέροντα κατηχούμενος ἐκ τοῦ νόμου
and if you are convinced that you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness,19πέποιθάς τε σεαυτὸν ὁδηγὸν εἶναι τυφλῶν φῶς τῶν ἐν σκότει
an educator of the senseless, a teacher of little children, because you have in the law the essential features of knowledge and of the truth--20παιδευτὴν ἀφρόνων διδάσκαλον νηπίων ἔχοντα τὴν μόρφωσιν τῆς γνώσεως καὶ τῆς ἀληθείας ἐν τῷ νόμῳ
therefore you who teach someone else, do you not teach yourself? You who preach against stealing, do you steal?21 οὖν διδάσκων ἕτερον σεαυτὸν οὐ διδάσκεις κηρύσσων μὴ κλέπτειν κλέπτεις
You who tell others not to commit adultery, do you commit adultery? You who abhor idols, do you rob temples?22 λέγων μὴ μοιχεύειν μοιχεύεις βδελυσσόμενος τὰ εἴδωλα ἱεροσυλεῖς
You who boast in the law dishonor God by transgressing the law!23ὃς ἐν νόμῳ καυχᾶσαι διὰ τῆς παραβάσεως τοῦ νόμου τὸν Θεὸν ἀτιμάζεις
For just as it is written, "the name of God is being blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you." 24τὸ γὰρ Ὄνομα τοῦ Θεοῦ δι’ ὑμᾶς βλασφημεῖται ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν καθὼς γέγραπται
For circumcision has its value if you practice the law, but if you break the law, your circumcision has become uncircumcision.25Περιτομὴ μὲν γὰρ ὠφελεῖ ἐὰν νόμον πράσσῃς ἐὰν δὲ παραβάτης νόμου ᾖς περιτομή σου ἀκροβυστία γέγονεν
Therefore if the uncircumcised man obeys the righteous requirements of the law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?26ἐὰν οὖν ἀκροβυστία τὰ δικαιώματα τοῦ νόμου φυλάσσῃ οὐχ ἀκροβυστία αὐτοῦ εἰς περιτομὴν λογισθήσεται
And will not the physically uncircumcised man who keeps the law judge you who, despite the written code and circumcision, transgress the law?27καὶ κρινεῖ ἐκ φύσεως ἀκροβυστία τὸν νόμον τελοῦσα σὲ τὸν διὰ γράμματος καὶ περιτομῆς παραβάτην νόμου
For a person is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision something that is outward in the flesh,28Οὐ γὰρ ἐν τῷ φανερῷ Ἰουδαῖός ἐστιν οὐδὲ ἐν τῷ φανερῷ ἐν σαρκὶ περιτομή
but someone is a Jew who is one inwardly, and circumcision is of the heart by the Spirit and not by the written code. This person's praise is not from people but from God. 29ἀλλ’ ἐν τῷ κρυπτῷ Ἰουδαῖος καὶ περιτομὴ καρδίας ἐν πνεύματι οὐ γράμματι οὗ ἔπαινος οὐκ ἐξ ἀνθρώπων ἀλλ’ ἐκ τοῦ Θεοῦ
