1 “For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. “For the kingdom of heaven is like a master of a house who went out early in the morning to hire laborers for his vineyard. 6 About the eleventh hour he went out and found still others standing around. ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing? he asked. And he said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’ And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? And about the eleventh <i>hour</i> he went out and found others standing <i>around;</i> and he said to them, ‘Why have you been standing here idle all day long?’ About five in the afternoon he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, ‘Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?’
7 ‘Because no one has hired us, they answered. So he told them, ‘You also go into my vineyard.’ They said to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’ They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, <i>that</i> shall ye receive. They said to him, ‘Because no one hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You go into the vineyard too.’ “’Because no one has hired us,’ they answered. “He said to them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard.’
8 When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, starting with the last ones hired and moving on to the first. 11 On receiving their pay, they began to grumble against the landowner. 13 But he answered one of them, ‘Friend, I am not being unfair to you. Did you not agree with me on one denarius? But he replied to one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree with me for a denarius? But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? But he answered and said to one of them, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong; did you not agree with me for a denarius? “But he answered one of them, ‘I am not being unfair to you, friend. Didn’t you agree to work for a denarius?
14 Take your pay and go. I want to give this last man the same as I gave you. Take what belongs to you and go. I choose to give to this last worker as I give to you. Take <i>that</i> thine <i>is</i>, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. Take what is yours and go; but I want to give to this last person the same as to you. Take your pay and go. I want to give the one who was hired last the same as I gave you.
15 Do I not have the right to do as I please with what is mine? Or are you envious because I am generous? Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or do you begrudge my generosity?’ Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? Is it not lawful for me to do what I want with what is my own? Or is your eye envious because I am generous?’ Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?’

20 Then the mother of Zebedee’s sons came to Jesus with her sons and knelt down to make a request of Him. 21 “What do you want? He inquired. She answered, “Declare that in Your kingdom one of these two sons of mine may sit at Your right hand, and the other at Your left. And he said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Say that these two sons of mine are to sit, one at your right hand and one at your left, in your kingdom.” And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. And He said to her, “What do you desire?” She said to Him, “Say that in Your kingdom these two sons of mine shall sit, one at Your right, and one at Your left.” “What is it you want?” he asked. She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”
22 “ You do not know what you are asking, Jesus replied. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” “We can, the brothers answered. Jesus answered, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am to drink?” They said to him, “We are able.” But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. But Jesus replied, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink?” They said to Him, “We are able.” “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” “We can,” they answered.
23 “ You will indeed drink My cup,” Jesus said. “But to sit at My right or left is not Mine to grant. These seats belong to those for whom My Father has prepared them. He said to them, “You will drink my cup, but to sit at my right hand and at my left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.” And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but <i>it shall be given to them</i> for whom it is prepared of my Father. He said to them, “My cup you shall drink; but to sit at My right and at <i>My</i> left is not Mine to give, but <i>it is for those</i> for whom it has been prepared by My Father.” Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.”
24 When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers. And when the ten heard it, they were indignant at the two brothers. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; It is not this way among you, but whoever wants to become prominent among you shall be your servant, Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
27 and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave— and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: and whoever desires to be first among you shall be your slave; and whoever wants to be first must be your slave—

31 The crowd admonished them to be silent, but they cried out all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us! The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more, “Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!” And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, <i>thou</i> Son of David. But the crowd sternly warned them to be quiet; yet they cried out all the more, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
32 Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want Me to do for you? He asked. And stopping, Jesus called them and said, “What do you want me to do for you?” And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? And Jesus stopped and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” Jesus stopped and called them. “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.
33 “Lord, they answered, “let our eyes be opened. They said to him, “Lord, let our eyes be opened.” They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. They said to Him, “Lord, <i>we want</i> our eyes to be opened.” “Lord,” they answered, “we want our sight.”
34 Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes, and at once they received their sight and followed Him. And Jesus in pity touched their eyes, and immediately they recovered their sight and followed him. So Jesus had compassion <i>on them</i>, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
