Greetings to the Thessalonians
(2 Thessalonians 1:1–4)

1 Παῦλος (Paul) καὶ (and) Σιλουανὸς (Silvanus) καὶ (and) Τιμόθεος (Timothy)

Τῇ (To the) ἐκκλησίᾳ (church) Θεσσαλονικέων (of the Thessalonians) ἐν (in) Θεῷ (God) Πατρὶ (the Father) καὶ (and) Κυρίῳ (the Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστῷ (Christ)·

Χάρις (Grace) ὑμῖν (to you⁺) καὶ (and) εἰρήνη (peace).

2 Εὐχαριστοῦμεν (We give thanks) τῷ (to) Θεῷ (God) πάντοτε (always) περὶ (concerning) πάντων (all) ὑμῶν (of you⁺), μνείαν (mention) ποιούμενοι (making) ἐπὶ (in) τῶν (the) προσευχῶν (prayers) ἡμῶν (of us), 3 ἀδιαλείπτως (unceasingly) μνημονεύοντες (remembering) ὑμῶν (your⁺) τοῦ (-) ἔργου (work) τῆς (-) πίστεως (of faith) καὶ (and) τοῦ (-) κόπου (labor) τῆς (-) ἀγάπης (of love) καὶ (and) τῆς (the) ὑπομονῆς (endurance) τῆς (of the) ἐλπίδος (hope) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ) ἔμπροσθεν (before) τοῦ (the) Θεοῦ (God) καὶ (and) Πατρὸς (Father) ἡμῶν (of us), 4 εἰδότες (knowing), ἀδελφοὶ (brothers) ἠγαπημένοι (beloved) ὑπὸ (by) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (God), τὴν (the) ἐκλογὴν (election) ὑμῶν (of you⁺), 5 ὅτι (because) τὸ (the) εὐαγγέλιον (gospel) ἡμῶν (of us) οὐκ (not) ἐγενήθη (came) εἰς (to) ὑμᾶς (you⁺) ἐν (in) λόγῳ (word) μόνον (only), ἀλλὰ (but) καὶ (also) ἐν (in) δυνάμει (power) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit) Ἁγίῳ (Holy) καὶ (and) ἐν (with) πληροφορίᾳ (full assurance) πολλῇ (much), καθὼς (just as) οἴδατε (you⁺ know) οἷοι (what) ἐγενήθημεν (we were) ἐν (among) ὑμῖν (you⁺) δι’ (on account of) ὑμᾶς (you⁺). 6 Καὶ (And) ὑμεῖς (you⁺) μιμηταὶ (imitators) ἡμῶν (of us) ἐγενήθητε (became) καὶ (and) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord), δεξάμενοι (having accepted) τὸν (the) λόγον (word) ἐν (in) θλίψει (tribulation) πολλῇ (much) μετὰ (with) χαρᾶς (the joy) Πνεύματος (of the Spirit) Ἁγίου (Holy), 7 ὥστε (so as for) γενέσθαι (to become) ὑμᾶς (you⁺) τύπον (a pattern) πᾶσιν (to all) τοῖς (the) πιστεύουσιν (believing ones) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) Μακεδονίᾳ (Macedonia) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) Ἀχαΐᾳ (Achaia). 8 ἀφ’ (From) ὑμῶν (you⁺) γὰρ (for) ἐξήχηται (has sounded forth) ὁ (the) λόγος (word) τοῦ (of the) Κυρίου (Lord) οὐ (not) μόνον (only) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) Μακεδονίᾳ (Macedonia) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τῇ (-) Ἀχαΐᾳ (Achaia), ἀλλ’ (but) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every) τόπῳ (place) ἡ (the) πίστις (faith) ὑμῶν (of you⁺) ἡ (-) πρὸς (toward) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἐξελήλυθεν (has gone out), ὥστε (so as for) μὴ (no) χρείαν (need) ἔχειν (to have) ἡμᾶς (us) λαλεῖν (to say) τι (anything)· 9 αὐτοὶ (They themselves) γὰρ (for) περὶ (concerning) ἡμῶν (us) ἀπαγγέλλουσιν (report) ὁποίαν (what kind of) εἴσοδον (entrance) ἔσχομεν (we had) πρὸς (to) ὑμᾶς (you⁺), καὶ (and) πῶς (how) ἐπεστρέψατε (you⁺ turned) πρὸς (to) τὸν (-) Θεὸν (God) ἀπὸ (from) τῶν (-) εἰδώλων (idols) δουλεύειν (to serve) Θεῷ (the God) ζῶντι (living) καὶ (and) ἀληθινῷ (true), 10 καὶ (and) ἀναμένειν (to await) τὸν (the) Υἱὸν (Son) αὐτοῦ (of Him) ἐκ (from) τῶν (the) οὐρανῶν (heavens), ὃν (whom) ἤγειρεν (He raised) ἐκ (out from) τῶν (the) νεκρῶν (dead), Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) τὸν (the one) ῥυόμενον (delivering) ἡμᾶς (us) ἐκ (from) τῆς (the) ὀργῆς (wrath) τῆς (-) ἐρχομένης (coming).
