Φιλήμονι (To Philemon), τῷ (the) ἀγαπητῷ (beloved) καὶ (and) συνεργῷ (fellow worker) ἡμῶν (of us),
2καὶ (and) Ἀπφίᾳ (to Apphia) τῇ (our) ἀδελφῇ (sister), καὶ (and) Ἀρχίππῳ (to Archippus) τῷ (the) συστρατιώτῃ (fellow soldier) ἡμῶν (of us), καὶ (and) τῇ (to the) κατ’ (at) οἶκόν (the house) σου (of you) ἐκκλησίᾳ (church):
3Χάρις (Grace) ὑμῖν (to you) καὶ (and) εἰρήνη (peace) ἀπὸ (from) Θεοῦ (God) Πατρὸς (Father) ἡμῶν (of us) καὶ (and) Κυρίου (the Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ).
Philemon's Faith and Love
4Εὐχαριστῶ (I thank) τῷ (the) Θεῷ (God) μου (of me) πάντοτε (always), μνείαν (mention) σου (of you) ποιούμενος (making) ἐπὶ (upon) τῶν (the) προσευχῶν (prayers) μου (of me),
5ἀκούων (hearing) σου (of your) τὴν (-) ἀγάπην (love) καὶ (and) τὴν (the) πίστιν (faith) ἣν (that) ἔχεις (you have) πρὸς (toward) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) καὶ (and) εἰς (toward) πάντας (all) τοὺς (the) ἁγίους (saints),
6ὅπως (so that) ἡ (the) κοινωνία (fellowship) τῆς (of the) πίστεώς (faith) σου (of you), ἐνεργὴς (effective) γένηται (might become) ἐν (in) ἐπιγνώσει (the acknowledgment) παντὸς (of every) ἀγαθοῦ (good thing) τοῦ (that is) ἐν (in) ἡμῖν (us), εἰς (in) Χριστόν (Christ).
7χαρὰν (Joy) γὰρ (for) πολλὴν (great) ἔσχον (I have), καὶ (and) παράκλησιν (encouragement) ἐπὶ (by occasion of) τῇ (the) ἀγάπῃ (love) σου (of you), ὅτι (because) τὰ (the) σπλάγχνα (hearts) τῶν (of the) ἁγίων (saints) ἀναπέπαυται (have been refreshed) διὰ (by) σοῦ (you), ἀδελφέ (brother).

12ὃν (whom) ἀνέπεμψά (I have sent back) σοι (to you) αὐτόν (in person) — τοῦτ’ (he who) ἔστιν (is) τὰ (-) ἐμὰ (my) σπλάγχνα (very heart) —
13ὃν (whom) ἐγὼ (I) ἐβουλόμην (was wishing) πρὸς (with) ἐμαυτὸν (myself) κατέχειν (to keep), ἵνα (so that) ὑπὲρ (on behalf of) σοῦ (you), μοι (me) διακονῇ (he might serve) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) δεσμοῖς (chains) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel).
14Χωρὶς (Apart from) δὲ (however) τῆς (-) σῆς (your) γνώμης (consent), οὐδὲν (nothing) ἠθέλησα (I wished) ποιῆσαι (to do), ἵνα (so that) μὴ (not) ὡς (as) κατὰ (according to) ἀνάγκην (necessity), τὸ (the) ἀγαθόν (good) σου (of you) ᾖ (may be), ἀλλὰ (but) κατὰ (according to) ἑκούσιον (willingness).
15τάχα (Perhaps) γὰρ (for) διὰ (because of) τοῦτο (this), ἐχωρίσθη (he was separated from you) πρὸς (for) ὥραν (a time), ἵνα (so that) αἰώνιον (eternally) αὐτὸν (him) ἀπέχῃς (you might possess),
16οὐκέτι (no longer) ὡς (as) δοῦλον (a slave), ἀλλὰ (but) ὑπὲρ (above) δοῦλον (a slave), ἀδελφὸν (a brother) ἀγαπητόν (beloved), μάλιστα (especially) ἐμοί (to me), πόσῳ (how much) δὲ (however) μᾶλλον (more) σοὶ (to you), καὶ (both) ἐν (in) σαρκὶ (the flesh) καὶ (and) ἐν (in) Κυρίῳ (the Lord).
17Εἰ (If) οὖν (therefore) με (me) ἔχεις (you consider) κοινωνόν (a partner), προσλαβοῦ (receive) αὐτὸν (him) ὡς (as) ἐμέ (me).
18εἰ (If) δέ (however) τι (in any way) ἠδίκησέν (he has wronged) σε (you), ἢ (or) ὀφείλει (he owes you), τοῦτο (this) ἐμοὶ (to me) ἐλλόγα (charge).
19ἐγὼ (I) Παῦλος (Paul) ἔγραψα (did write) τῇ (with) ἐμῇ (my own) χειρί (hand). ἐγὼ (I) ἀποτίσω (will repay it); ἵνα (that) μὴ (not) λέγω (I may say) σοι (to you), ὅτι (that) καὶ (even) σεαυτόν (yourself) μοι (to me) προσοφείλεις (you owe also).
20Ναί (Yes), ἀδελφέ (brother), ἐγώ (I) σου (from you) ὀναίμην (may have profit) ἐν (in) Κυρίῳ (the Lord). ἀνάπαυσόν (Refresh) μου (my) τὰ (-) σπλάγχνα (heart) ἐν (in) Χριστῷ (Christ).
21Πεποιθὼς (Being persuaded of) τῇ (the) ὑπακοῇ (obedience) σου (of you), ἔγραψά (I write) σοι (to you), εἰδὼς (knowing) ὅτι (that) καὶ (even) ὑπὲρ (above) ἃ (what) λέγω (I say), ποιήσεις (you will do).
22Ἅμα (At the same time) δὲ (now), καὶ (also) ἑτοίμαζέ (prepare) μοι (for me) ξενίαν (a lodging); ἐλπίζω (I hope) γὰρ (for) ὅτι (that) διὰ (through) τῶν (the) προσευχῶν (prayers) ὑμῶν (of you), χαρισθήσομαι (I will be granted) ὑμῖν (to you).
