Dictionary of Bible Themes The ruler or monarch of a country or realm. God is king of all the earth and human kings are called to rule in accordance with his will. The failure of kings in Israel and Judah after David led to the expectation of a coming king like David. This was fulfilled in Jesus Christ: the true King of Israel and all the world.
