1	מַשְׂכִּ֗יל לְאָ֫סָ֥ף הַאֲזִ֣ינָה עַ֭מִּי תּוֹרָתִ֑י הַטּ֥וּ אָ֝זְנְכֶ֗ם לְאִמְרֵי־ פִֽי׃	Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth!	A maskil of Asaph. My people, hear my teaching; listen to the words of my mouth.
2	אֶפְתְּחָ֣ה בְמָשָׁ֣ל פִּ֑י אַבִּ֥יעָה חִ֝יד֗וֹת מִנִּי־ קֶֽדֶם׃	I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old,	I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from of old—
3	אֲשֶׁ֣ר שָׁ֭מַעְנוּ וַנֵּדָעֵ֑ם וַ֝אֲבוֹתֵ֗ינוּ סִפְּרוּ־ לָֽנוּ׃	things that we have heard and known, that our fathers have told us.	things we have heard and known, things our ancestors have told us.
4	לֹ֤א נְכַחֵ֨ד ׀ מִבְּנֵיהֶ֗ם לְד֥וֹר אַחֲר֗וֹן מְֽ֭סַפְּרִים תְּהִלּ֣וֹת יְהוָ֑ה וֶעֱזוּז֥וֹ וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָֽׂה׃	We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the LORD, and his might, and the wonders that he has done.	We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done.
5	וַיָּ֤קֶם עֵד֨וּת ׀ בְּֽיַעֲקֹ֗ב וְתוֹרָה֮ שָׂ֤ם בְּיִשְׂרָ֫אֵ֥ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר צִ֭וָּה אֶת־ אֲבוֹתֵ֑ינוּ לְ֝הוֹדִיעָ֗ם לִבְנֵיהֶֽם׃	He established a testimony in Jacob and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers to teach to their children,	He decreed statutes for Jacob and established the law in Israel, which he commanded our ancestors to teach their children,
6	לְמַ֤עַן יֵדְע֨וּ ׀ דּ֣וֹר אַ֭חֲרוֹן בָּנִ֣ים יִוָּלֵ֑דוּ יָ֝קֻ֗מוּ וִֽיסַפְּר֥וּ לִבְנֵיהֶֽם׃	that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children,	so the next generation would know them, even the children yet to be born, and they in turn would tell their children.
7	וְיָשִׂ֥ימוּ בֵֽאלֹהִ֗ים כִּ֫סְלָ֥ם וְלֹ֣א יִ֭שְׁכְּחוּ מַֽעַלְלֵי־ אֵ֑ל וּמִצְוֺתָ֥יו יִנְצֹֽרוּ׃	so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments;	Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.
8	וְלֹ֤א יִהְי֨וּ ׀ כַּאֲבוֹתָ֗ם דּוֹר֮ סוֹרֵ֪ר וּמֹ֫רֶ֥ה דּ֭וֹר לֹא־ הֵכִ֣ין לִבּ֑וֹ וְלֹא־ נֶאֶמְנָ֖ה אֶת־ אֵ֣ל רוּחֽוֹ׃	and that they should not be like their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation whose heart was not steadfast, whose spirit was not faithful to God.	They would not be like their ancestors— a stubborn and rebellious generation, whose hearts were not loyal to God, whose spirits were not faithful to him.
9	בְּֽנֵי־ אֶפְרַ֗יִם נוֹשְׁקֵ֥י רוֹמֵי־ קָ֑שֶׁת הָ֝פְכ֗וּ בְּי֣וֹם קְרָֽב׃	The Ephraimites, armed with the bow, turned back on the day of battle.	The men of Ephraim, though armed with bows, turned back on the day of battle;
10	לֹ֣א שָׁ֭מְרוּ בְּרִ֣ית אֱלֹהִ֑ים וּ֝בְתוֹרָת֗וֹ מֵאֲנ֥וּ לָלֶֽכֶת׃	They did not keep God’s covenant, but refused to walk according to his law.	they did not keep God’s covenant and refused to live by his law.
11	וַיִּשְׁכְּח֥וּ עֲלִילוֹתָ֑יו וְ֝נִפְלְאוֹתָ֗יו אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֶרְאָֽם׃	They forgot his works and the wonders that he had shown them.	They forgot what he had done, the wonders he had shown them.
12	נֶ֣גֶד אֲ֭בוֹתָם עָ֣שָׂה פֶ֑לֶא בְּאֶ֖רֶץ מִצְרַ֣יִם שְׂדֵה־ צֹֽעַן׃	In the sight of their fathers he performed wonders in the land of Egypt, in the fields of Zoan.	He did miracles in the sight of their ancestors in the land of Egypt, in the region of Zoan.
13	בָּ֣קַע יָ֭ם וַיַּֽעֲבִירֵ֑ם וַֽיַּצֶּב־ מַ֥יִם כְּמוֹ־ נֵֽד׃	He divided the sea and let them pass through it, and made the waters stand like a heap.	He divided the sea and led them through; he made the water stand up like a wall.
14	וַיַּנְחֵ֣ם בֶּעָנָ֣ן יוֹמָ֑ם וְכָל־ הַ֝לַּ֗יְלָה בְּא֣וֹר אֵֽשׁ׃	In the daytime he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a fiery light.	He guided them with the cloud by day and with light from the fire all night.
15	יְבַקַּ֣ע צֻ֭רִים בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר וַ֝יַּ֗שְׁקְ כִּתְהֹמ֥וֹת רַבָּֽה׃	He split rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink abundantly as from the deep.	He split the rocks in the wilderness and gave them water as abundant as the seas;
16	וַיּוֹצִ֣א נוֹזְלִ֣ים מִסָּ֑לַע וַיּ֖וֹרֶד כַּנְּהָר֣וֹת מָֽיִם׃	He made streams come out of the rock and caused waters to flow down like rivers.	he brought streams out of a rocky crag and made water flow down like rivers.
17	וַיּוֹסִ֣יפוּ ע֭וֹד לַחֲטֹא־ ל֑וֹ לַֽמְר֥וֹת עֶ֝לְי֗וֹן בַּצִּיָּֽה׃	Yet they sinned still more against him, rebelling against the Most High in the desert.	But they continued to sin against him, rebelling in the wilderness against the Most High.
18	וַיְנַסּוּ־ אֵ֥ל בִּלְבָבָ֑ם לִֽשְׁאָל־ אֹ֥כֶל לְנַפְשָֽׁם׃	They tested God in their heart by demanding the food they craved.	They willfully put God to the test by demanding the food they craved.
19	וַֽיְדַבְּר֗וּ בֵּֽאלֹ֫הִ֥ים אָ֭מְרוּ הֲי֣וּכַל אֵ֑ל לַעֲרֹ֥ךְ שֻׁ֝לְחָ֗ן בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃	They spoke against God, saying, “Can God spread a table in the wilderness?	They spoke against God; they said, “Can God really spread a table in the wilderness?
20	הֵ֤ן הִכָּה־ צ֨וּר ׀ וַיָּז֣וּבוּ מַיִם֮ וּנְחָלִ֪ים יִ֫שְׁטֹ֥פוּ הֲגַם־ לֶ֭חֶם י֣וּכַל תֵּ֑ת אִם־ יָכִ֖ין שְׁאֵ֣ר לְעַמּֽוֹ׃	He struck the rock so that water gushed out and streams overflowed. Can he also give bread or provide meat for his people?”	True, he struck the rock, and water gushed out, streams flowed abundantly, but can he also give us bread? Can he supply meat for his people?”
21	לָכֵ֤ן ׀ שָׁמַ֥ע יְהוָ֗ה וַֽיִּתְעַבָּ֥ר וְ֭אֵשׁ נִשְּׂקָ֣ה בְיַעֲקֹ֑ב וְגַם־ אַ֝֗ף עָלָ֥ה בְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃	Therefore, when the LORD heard, he was full of wrath; a fire was kindled against Jacob; his anger rose against Israel,	When the LORD heard them, he was furious; his fire broke out against Jacob, and his wrath rose against Israel,
22	כִּ֤י לֹ֣א הֶ֭אֱמִינוּ בֵּאלֹהִ֑ים וְלֹ֥א בָ֝טְח֗וּ בִּֽישׁוּעָתֽוֹ׃	because they did not believe in God and did not trust his saving power.	for they did not believe in God or trust in his deliverance.
23	וַיְצַ֣ו שְׁחָקִ֣ים מִמָּ֑עַל וְדַלְתֵ֖י שָׁמַ֣יִם פָּתָֽח׃	Yet he commanded the skies above and opened the doors of heaven,	Yet he gave a command to the skies above and opened the doors of the heavens;
24	וַיַּמְטֵ֬ר עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם מָ֣ן לֶאֱכֹ֑ל וּדְגַן־ שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם נָ֣תַן לָֽמוֹ׃	and he rained down on them manna to eat and gave them the grain of heaven.	he rained down manna for the people to eat, he gave them the grain of heaven.
25	לֶ֣חֶם אַ֭בִּירִים אָ֣כַל אִ֑ישׁ צֵידָ֬ה שָׁלַ֖ח לָהֶ֣ם לָשֹֽׂבַע׃	Man ate of the bread of the angels; he sent them food in abundance.	Human beings ate the bread of angels; he sent them all the food they could eat.
26	יַסַּ֣ע קָ֭דִים בַּשָּׁמָ֑יִם וַיְנַהֵ֖ג בְּעֻזּ֣וֹ תֵימָֽן׃	He caused the east wind to blow in the heavens, and by his power he led out the south wind;	He let loose the east wind from the heavens and by his power made the south wind blow.
27	וַיַּמְטֵ֬ר עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם כֶּעָפָ֣ר שְׁאֵ֑ר וּֽכְח֥וֹל יַ֝מִּ֗ים ע֣וֹף כָּנָֽף׃	he rained meat on them like dust, winged birds like the sand of the seas;	He rained meat down on them like dust, birds like sand on the seashore.
28	וַ֭יַּפֵּל בְּקֶ֣רֶב מַחֲנֵ֑הוּ סָ֝בִ֗יב לְמִשְׁכְּנֹתָֽיו׃	he let them fall in the midst of their camp, all around their dwellings.	He made them come down inside their camp, all around their tents.
29	וַיֹּאכְל֣וּ וַיִּשְׂבְּע֣וּ מְאֹ֑ד וְ֝תַֽאֲוָתָ֗ם יָבִ֥א לָהֶֽם׃	And they ate and were well filled, for he gave them what they craved.	They ate till they were gorged— he had given them what they craved.
30	לֹא־ זָר֥וּ מִתַּאֲוָתָ֑ם ע֝֗וֹד אָכְלָ֥ם בְּפִיהֶֽם׃	But before they had satisfied their craving, while the food was still in their mouths,	But before they turned from what they craved, even while the food was still in their mouths,
31	וְאַ֤ף אֱלֹהִ֨ים ׀ עָ֘לָ֤ה בָהֶ֗ם וַֽ֭יַּהֲרֹג בְּמִשְׁמַנֵּיהֶ֑ם וּבַחוּרֵ֖י יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל הִכְרִֽיעַ׃	the anger of God rose against them, and he killed the strongest of them and laid low the young men of Israel.	God’s anger rose against them; he put to death the sturdiest among them, cutting down the young men of Israel.
32	בְּכָל־ זֹ֭את חָֽטְאוּ־ ע֑וֹד וְלֹֽא־ הֶ֝אֱמִ֗ינוּ בְּנִפְלְאוֹתָֽיו׃	In spite of all this, they still sinned; despite his wonders, they did not believe.	In spite of all this, they kept on sinning; in spite of his wonders, they did not believe.
33	וַיְכַל־ בַּהֶ֥בֶל יְמֵיהֶ֑ם וּ֝שְׁנוֹתָ֗ם בַּבֶּהָלָֽה׃	So he made their days vanish like a breath, and their years in terror.	So he ended their days in futility and their years in terror.
34	אִם־ הֲרָגָ֥ם וּדְרָשׁ֑וּהוּ וְ֝שָׁ֗בוּ וְשִֽׁחֲרוּ־ אֵֽל׃	When he killed them, they sought him; they repented and sought God earnestly.	Whenever God slew them, they would seek him; they eagerly turned to him again.
35	וַֽ֭יִּזְכְּרוּ כִּֽי־ אֱלֹהִ֣ים צוּרָ֑ם וְאֵ֥ל עֶ֝לְיוֹן גֹּאֲלָֽם׃	They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God their redeemer.	They remembered that God was their Rock, that God Most High was their Redeemer.
36	וַיְפַתּ֥וּהוּ בְּפִיהֶ֑ם וּ֝בִלְשׁוֹנָ֗ם יְכַזְּבוּ־ לֽוֹ׃	But they flattered him with their mouths; they lied to him with their tongues.	But then they would flatter him with their mouths, lying to him with their tongues;
37	וְ֭לִבָּם לֹא־ נָכ֣וֹן עִמּ֑וֹ וְלֹ֥א נֶ֝אֶמְנ֗וּ בִּבְרִיתֽוֹ׃	Their heart was not steadfast toward him; they were not faithful to his covenant.	their hearts were not loyal to him, they were not faithful to his covenant.
38	וְה֤וּא רַח֨וּם ׀ יְכַפֵּ֥ר עָוֺן֮ וְֽלֹא־ יַ֫שְׁחִ֥ית וְ֭הִרְבָּה לְהָשִׁ֣יב אַפּ֑וֹ וְלֹֽא־ יָ֝עִיר כָּל־ חֲמָתֽוֹ׃	Yet he, being compassionate, atoned for their iniquity and did not destroy them; he restrained his anger often and did not stir up all his wrath.	Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.
39	וַ֭יִּזְכֹּר כִּי־ בָשָׂ֣ר הֵ֑מָּה ר֥וּחַ ה֝וֹלֵ֗ךְ וְלֹ֣א יָשֽׁוּב׃	He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passes and comes not again.	He remembered that they were but flesh, a passing breeze that does not return.
40	כַּ֭מָּה יַמְר֣וּהוּ בַמִּדְבָּ֑ר יַ֝עֲצִיב֗וּהוּ בִּֽישִׁימֽוֹן׃	How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and grieved him in the desert!	How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness and grieved him in the wasteland!
41	וַיָּשׁ֣וּבוּ וַיְנַסּ֣וּ אֵ֑ל וּקְד֖וֹשׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל הִתְווּ׃‪‬	They tested God again and again and provoked the Holy One of Israel.	Again and again they put God to the test; they vexed the Holy One of Israel.
42	לֹא־ זָכְר֥וּ אֶת־ יָד֑וֹ י֝֗וֹם אֲ‍ֽשֶׁר־ פָּדָ֥ם מִנִּי־ צָֽר׃	They did not remember his power or the day when he redeemed them from the foe,	They did not remember his power— the day he redeemed them from the oppressor,
43	אֲשֶׁר־ שָׂ֣ם בְּ֭מִצְרַיִם אֹֽתוֹתָ֑יו וּ֝מוֹפְתָ֗יו בִּשְׂדֵה־ צֹֽעַן׃	when he performed his signs in Egypt and his marvels in the fields of Zoan.	the day he displayed his signs in Egypt, his wonders in the region of Zoan.
44	וַיַּהֲפֹ֣ךְ לְ֭דָם יְאֹרֵיהֶ֑ם וְ֝נֹזְלֵיהֶ֗ם בַּל־ יִשְׁתָּיֽוּן׃	He turned their rivers to blood, so that they could not drink of their streams.	He turned their river into blood; they could not drink from their streams.
45	יְשַׁלַּ֬ח בָּהֶ֣ם עָ֭רֹב וַיֹּאכְלֵ֑ם וּ֝צְפַרְדֵּ֗עַ וַתַּשְׁחִיתֵֽם׃	He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them, and frogs, which destroyed them.	He sent swarms of flies that devoured them, and frogs that devastated them.
46	וַיִּתֵּ֣ן לֶחָסִ֣יל יְבוּלָ֑ם וִֽ֝יגִיעָ֗ם לָאַרְבֶּֽה׃	He gave their crops to the destroying locust and the fruit of their labor to the locust.	He gave their crops to the grasshopper, their produce to the locust.
47	יַהֲרֹ֣ג בַּבָּרָ֣ד גַּפְנָ֑ם וְ֝שִׁקְמוֹתָ֗ם בַּֽחֲנָמַֽל׃	He destroyed their vines with hail and their sycamores with frost.	He destroyed their vines with hail and their sycamore-figs with sleet.
48	וַיַּסְגֵּ֣ר לַבָּרָ֣ד בְּעִירָ֑ם וּ֝מִקְנֵיהֶ֗ם לָרְשָׁפִֽים׃	He gave over their cattle to the hail and their flocks to thunderbolts.	He gave over their cattle to the hail, their livestock to bolts of lightning.
49	יְשַׁלַּח־ בָּ֨ם ׀ חֲר֬וֹן אַפּ֗וֹ עֶבְרָ֣ה וָזַ֣עַם וְצָרָ֑ה מִ֝שְׁלַ֗חַת מַלְאֲכֵ֥י רָעִֽים׃	He let loose on them his burning anger, wrath, indignation, and distress, a company of destroying angels.	He unleashed against them his hot anger, his wrath, indignation and hostility— a band of destroying angels.
50	יְפַלֵּ֥ס נָתִ֗יב לְאַ֫פּ֥וֹ לֹא־ חָשַׂ֣ךְ מִמָּ֣וֶת נַפְשָׁ֑ם וְ֝חַיָּתָ֗ם לַדֶּ֥בֶר הִסְגִּֽיר׃	He made a path for his anger; he did not spare them from death, but gave their lives over to the plague.	He prepared a path for his anger; he did not spare them from death but gave them over to the plague.
51	וַיַּ֣ךְ כָּל־ בְּכ֣וֹר בְּמִצְרָ֑יִם רֵאשִׁ֥ית א֝וֹנִ֗ים בְּאָהֳלֵי־ חָֽם׃	He struck down every firstborn in Egypt, the firstfruits of their strength in the tents of Ham.	He struck down all the firstborn of Egypt, the firstfruits of manhood in the tents of Ham.
52	וַיַּסַּ֣ע כַּצֹּ֣אן עַמּ֑וֹ וַֽיְנַהֲגֵ֥ם כַּ֝עֵ֗דֶר בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃	Then he led out his people like sheep and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.	But he brought his people out like a flock; he led them like sheep through the wilderness.
53	וַיַּנְחֵ֣ם לָ֭בֶטַח וְלֹ֣א פָחָ֑דוּ וְאֶת־ א֝וֹיְבֵיהֶ֗ם כִּסָּ֥ה הַיָּֽם׃	He led them in safety, so that they were not afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.	He guided them safely, so they were unafraid; but the sea engulfed their enemies.
54	וַ֭יְבִיאֵם אֶל־ גְּב֣וּל קָדְשׁ֑וֹ הַר־ זֶ֝֗ה קָנְתָ֥ה יְמִינֽוֹ׃	And he brought them to his holy land, to the mountain which his right hand had won.	And so he brought them to the border of his holy land, to the hill country his right hand had taken.
55	וַיְגָ֤רֶשׁ מִפְּנֵיהֶ֨ם ׀ גּוֹיִ֗ם וַֽ֭יַּפִּילֵם בְּחֶ֣בֶל נַחֲלָ֑ה וַיַּשְׁכֵּ֥ן בְּ֝אָהֳלֵיהֶ֗ם שִׁבְטֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃	He drove out nations before them; he apportioned them for a possession and settled the tribes of Israel in their tents.	He drove out nations before them and allotted their lands to them as an inheritance; he settled the tribes of Israel in their homes.
56	וַיְנַסּ֣וּ וַ֭יַּמְרוּ אֶת־ אֱלֹהִ֣ים עֶלְי֑וֹן וְ֝עֵדוֹתָ֗יו לֹ֣א שָׁמָֽרוּ׃	Yet they tested and rebelled against the Most High God and did not keep his testimonies,	But they put God to the test and rebelled against the Most High; they did not keep his statutes.
57	וַיִּסֹּ֣גוּ וַֽ֭יִּבְגְּדוּ כַּאֲבוֹתָ֑ם נֶ֝הְפְּכ֗וּ כְּקֶ֣שֶׁת רְמִיָּֽה׃	but turned away and acted treacherously like their fathers; they twisted like a deceitful bow.	Like their ancestors they were disloyal and faithless, as unreliable as a faulty bow.
58	וַיַּכְעִיס֥וּהוּ בְּבָמוֹתָ֑ם וּ֝בִפְסִילֵיהֶ֗ם יַקְנִיאֽוּהוּ׃	For they provoked him to anger with their high places; they moved him to jealousy with their idols.	They angered him with their high places; they aroused his jealousy with their idols.
59	שָׁמַ֣ע אֱ֭לֹהִים וַֽיִּתְעַבָּ֑ר וַיִּמְאַ֥ס מְ֝אֹ֗ד בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃	When God heard, he was full of wrath, and he utterly rejected Israel.	When God heard them, he was furious; he rejected Israel completely.
60	וַ֭יִּטֹּשׁ מִשְׁכַּ֣ן שִׁל֑וֹ אֹ֝֗הֶל שִׁכֵּ֥ן בָּאָדָֽם׃	He forsook his dwelling at Shiloh, the tent where he dwelt among mankind,	He abandoned the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent he had set up among humans.
61	וַיִּתֵּ֣ן לַשְּׁבִ֣י עֻזּ֑וֹ וְֽתִפְאַרְתּ֥וֹ בְיַד־ צָֽר׃	and delivered his power to captivity, his glory to the hand of the foe.	He sent the ark of his might into captivity, his splendor into the hands of the enemy.
62	וַיַּסְגֵּ֣ר לַחֶ֣רֶב עַמּ֑וֹ וּ֝בְנַחֲלָת֗וֹ הִתְעַבָּֽר׃	He gave his people over to the sword and vented his wrath on his heritage.	He gave his people over to the sword; he was furious with his inheritance.
63	בַּחוּרָ֥יו אָֽכְלָה־ אֵ֑שׁ וּ֝בְתוּלֹתָ֗יו לֹ֣א הוּלָּֽלוּ׃	Fire devoured their young men, and their young women had no marriage song.	Fire consumed their young men, and their young women had no wedding songs;
64	כֹּ֭הֲנָיו בַּחֶ֣רֶב נָפָ֑לוּ וְ֝אַלְמְנֹתָ֗יו לֹ֣א תִבְכֶּֽינָה׃	Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows made no lamentation.	their priests were put to the sword, and their widows could not weep.
65	וַיִּקַ֖ץ כְּיָשֵׁ֥ן ׀ אֲדֹנָ֑י כְּ֝גִבּ֗וֹר מִתְרוֹנֵ֥ן מִיָּֽיִן׃	Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, like a strong man shouting because of wine.	Then the Lord awoke as from sleep, as a warrior wakes from the stupor of wine.
66	וַיַּךְ־ צָרָ֥יו אָח֑וֹר חֶרְפַּ֥ת ע֝וֹלָ֗ם נָ֣תַן לָֽמוֹ׃	And he put his adversaries to rout; he put them to everlasting shame.	He beat back his enemies; he put them to everlasting shame.
67	וַ֭יִּמְאַס בְּאֹ֣הֶל יוֹסֵ֑ף וּֽבְשֵׁ֥בֶט אֶ֝פְרַ֗יִם לֹ֣א בָחָֽר׃	He rejected the tent of Joseph; he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim,	Then he rejected the tents of Joseph, he did not choose the tribe of Ephraim;
68	וַ֭יִּבְחַר אֶת־ שֵׁ֣בֶט יְהוּדָ֑ה אֶֽת־ הַ֥ר צִ֝יּ֗וֹן אֲשֶׁ֣ר אָהֵֽב׃	but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loves.	but he chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion, which he loved.
69	וַיִּ֣בֶן כְּמוֹ־ רָ֭מִים מִקְדָּשׁ֑וֹ כְּ֝אֶ֗רֶץ יְסָדָ֥הּ לְעוֹלָֽם׃	He built his sanctuary like the high heavens, like the earth, which he has founded forever.	He built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth that he established forever.

71	מֵאַחַ֥ר עָל֗וֹת הֱ֫בִיא֥וֹ לִ֭רְעוֹת בְּיַעֲקֹ֣ב עַמּ֑וֹ וּ֝בְיִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל נַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃	from following the nursing ewes he brought him to shepherd Jacob his people, Israel his inheritance.	from tending the sheep he brought him to be the shepherd of his people Jacob, of Israel his inheritance.
72	וַ֭יִּרְעֵם כְּתֹ֣ם לְבָב֑וֹ וּבִתְבוּנ֖וֹת כַּפָּ֣יו יַנְחֵֽם׃	With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand.	And David shepherded them with integrity of heart; with skillful hands he led them.
