Berean Study Bible Sing to the LORD, All the EarthGod’s saving acts call forth renewed praise. Israel often marked His deliverance, victory, and faithful provision with songs that remembered what He had done. Worship responds not merely to past mercies but to the Lord’s continuing work among His people and His unfolding purposes in the world. Psa 98:1 A Psalm. Sing to the LORD a new song, for He has done wonders… sing to the LORD, all the earth. The summons reaches beyond Israel to every nation. The Lord is Creator and King over all peoples, and His salvation was never intended to remain confined to one nation. The worldwide call anticipates the gathering of people from every land to honor Him. 1Ch 16:23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth. Proclaim His salvation… Sing to the LORD, Israel’s worship included public singing in the sanctuary and in the gathered assembly, declaring the Lord’s rule over all nations. Exo 15:1 Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the LORD:… bless His name; God’s people honor Him by praising His holy character and remembering His mighty works of creation, deliverance, and covenant faithfulness. Psa 100:4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise… proclaim His salvation The Lord’s saving acts were to be made known openly, pointing beyond Israel’s historical deliverances to the redemption accomplished through Christ. Psa 40:10 I have declared Your faithfulness and salvation;… day after day. Praise and testimony belong to the regular, day-after-day life of God’s people, bearing witness continually to His saving power. Psa 61:8 Then I will ever sing praise to Your name… Declare His glory among the nations, Israel was called to make known the greatness of the one true God beyond its own borders. His glory is displayed in His holy character, sovereign rule, and saving acts in history. Though the Lord uniquely revealed Himself to Israel, His purpose always included the nations, who were to recognize His authority and worship Him. 1Ch 16:24 Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders… His wonders among all peoples. God’s mighty deeds—including His deliverance of Israel from Egypt, His provision in the wilderness, and His preservation of His people—testified to His power over every nation and false god. These works anticipated the worldwide proclamation of salvation fulfilled through Jesus Christ, whose death and resurrection are to be announced to all peoples. Psa 77:14 You are the God who works wonders; You display Your strength… For great is the LORD, The LORD alone possesses absolute power, majesty, and authority as Creator and ruler of all things. Israel’s worship rested on the truth that He is not one deity among many but the living God, sovereign over every nation and every part of creation. 1Ch 16:25 For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised;… and greatly to be praised; His works in creation, His covenant faithfulness, and His acts of deliverance for His people call for public and wholehearted worship. Praise belonged to Israel’s gathered worship through prayer, song, sacrifice, and proclamation of His deeds. Psa 48:1 A Psalm of the sons of Korah. Great is the LORD… He is to be feared above all gods. The surrounding nations served idols made by human hands and attributed power to false gods. The LORD stands above every claimed deity and spiritual power. To fear Him is to recognize His holiness, submit to His authority, and reject all rivals to His worship. Psa 95:3 For the LORD is a great God, a great King above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, The surrounding nations worshiped many false gods through images of wood, stone, and metal, trusting them for fertility, protection, rain, and victory in war. Though these idols, also meaning “worthless” or “vain,” were treated as divine, they had no life, power, or authority. Israel was repeatedly warned not to adopt such worship, which denied the Lord’s unique rule over all peoples. 1Ch 16:26 For all the gods of the nations are idols,… but it is the LORD who made the heavens. Unlike the powerless idols of the nations, the LORD is the living Creator of heaven and earth. The heavens themselves testify to His power, order, and sovereignty. As Israel’s covenant God, He alone is worthy of worship because all things exist by His will and remain under His authority. Psa 33:6 By the word of the LORD the heavens were made… Splendor and majesty are before Him; God is revealed as the sovereign King whose glory surpasses every earthly ruler. His presence inspires reverence and displays the perfection of His holiness and authority. 1Ch 16:27 Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and joy… strength and beauty fill His sanctuary. In the place appointed for worship, God’s power and holy perfection are made known. The sanctuary testified that the Lord dwelt among His people and was worthy of their worship. Psa 68:35 O God, You are awesome in Your sanctuary;… Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the nations, Every people group is summoned to acknowledge the LORD as the true God and rightful ruler. Israel’s worship was never meant to deny God’s authority over the nations; His covenant blessings through Abraham anticipated the blessing of all families of the earth. 1Ch 16:28 Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the nations,… ascribe to the LORD glory and strength. The nations are called to recognize God’s majestic greatness and irresistible power. Unlike idols made by human hands, the LORD created all things, governs history, and displays His strength in judgment, deliverance, and redemption. Psa 29:1-2 A Psalm of David. Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings,… Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; God alone deserves honor for all that He is and all that He has done. To ascribe glory is to attribute or give credit to Him for His character and deeds. His name reveals His holy character, mercy, righteousness, power, and faithfulness. Israel’s worship was to acknowledge that no false god could share the reverence belonging to the LORD. Psa 29:2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD… bring an offering Worshipers approaching the sanctuary brought sacrifices or gifts prescribed in the Law. These offerings expressed gratitude, dependence on God’s provision, and the need for atonement. They anticipated the complete sacrifice of Christ, through whom forgiveness and access to God are secured. Lev 1:2 “Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When any of you”… and enter His courts. The temple courts were the appointed setting for Israel to gather before the LORD in reverence. Coming into His presence required thanksgiving, obedience, and humble recognition of His holiness. Psa 100:4 Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise… Worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness; God’s holiness displays His absolute purity, majesty, and separation from all sin. Israel’s worship was ordered around this reality, with priests, sacrifices, and the sanctuary emphasizing that sinful people could not approach a holy God casually. The call directs all worshipers to honor Him according to His holy character. Psa 29:2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD… tremble before Him, all the earth. Every nation stands accountable before the Creator and King. The fear and trembling commanded here signify deep respect and reverent awe before God’s power, righteousness, and authority. Though Israel received God’s covenant promises, His rule extends over the whole earth, and all peoples are summoned to acknowledge Him. Psa 114:7 Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord… Declare among the nations: “The LORD reigns!” Israel was called to proclaim that the God of Israel is not a local deity but the rightful King over every nation and ruler. His reign stands above all human authority and extends to the whole earth. 1Ch 16:31 Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice.… The world is firmly established; it cannot be moved; God created and sustains the ordered world by His power. Though nations rise and fall and disorder marks human history, creation remains under His control and His purposes cannot be overturned. 1Ch 16:30 tremble before Him, all the earth. The world… He will judge the peoples with equity. The LORD rules as a just Judge, showing no partiality among peoples. He will hold every nation and person accountable according to His righteous standard, bringing final justice through Christ. Psa 67:4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,… Let the heavens be glad God’s reign brings joy to the whole created order. The heavens declare His glory and remain under His authority as part of His creation. 1Ch 16:31 Let the heavens be glad, and the earth rejoice.… and the earth rejoice; The earth’s rejoicing reflects the restoration of peace and righteousness under God’s rule. What was marred by sin will ultimately be renewed according to His purpose. Psa 98:4 Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth;… let the sea resound, Though the sea often represented danger and untamed power, it too belongs to the Lord. Its roar becomes a fitting image of creation’s response to the King who rules over every force. 1Ch 16:32 Let the sea resound, and all that fills it; let the fields exult… and all that fills it. Every creature and living thing within the sea is included. The praise of God is not limited to Israel or humanity but extends throughout the world He made. Rev 5:13 And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth… Let the fields exult, The cultivated land, whose harvest sustained Israel’s households and economy, is pictured rejoicing under the rule of its Creator. Its abundance testifies that the earth belongs to the Lord and remains under His care. Jol 2:21 Do not be afraid, O land; rejoice and be glad… and all that is in them. Crops, animals, and every living thing dependent on the land are included. The whole created order is summoned to acknowledge the Lord’s kingship, not merely human nations. Deu 10:14 Behold, to the LORD your God belong the heavens,… Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy The forest joins the fields so that both farmland and wilderness celebrate the Lord’s coming to judge the earth with righteousness and faithfulness. His judgment will establish what is right throughout creation. 1Ch 16:33 Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy… before the LORD, All creation is summoned to stand in reverence before the God who reigns over heaven and earth. Israel’s worship at the Tabernacle and later the Temple reflected this reality: God was not distant, but present among His people and worthy of holy fear. Psa 95:6 O come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel… for He is coming—He is coming to judge the earth. The Lord’s coming will bring His rule openly and decisively over the whole earth. The repeated declaration stresses the certainty of His arrival and the final accountability of every nation and person before Him. 1Ch 16:33 Then the trees of the forest will sing for joy… He will judge the world in righteousness His judgment will be perfectly just, measured by His own holy standard rather than human opinion, power, or status. No wrong will be overlooked, and no verdict will be corrupt. Psa 9:8 He judges the world with justice; He governs the people… and the peoples in His faithfulness. God will judge in complete faithfulness to His character, His promises, and His covenant purposes. His final judgment will confirm both His justice against evil and His unwavering commitment to accomplish redemption.
