1[Do] not judge, or you will be judged. 1Μὴ κρίνετε ἵνα μὴ κριθῆτε
2For with the same judgment you pronounce, you will be judged; and with the measure you [use], it will be measured to you. 2ἐν ᾧ γὰρ κρίματι κρίνετε κριθήσεσθε καὶ ἐν ᾧ μέτρῳ μετρεῖτε μετρηθήσεται ὑμῖν
3Why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but fail to notice [the] beam in your [own] eye? 3Τί δὲ βλέπεις τὸ κάρφος τὸ ἐν τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου τὴν δὲ ἐν τῷ σῷ ὀφθαλμῷ δοκὸν οὐ κατανοεῖς
4How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ while [there is still] a beam in your [own] eye? 4ἢ πῶς ἐρεῖς τῷ ἀδελφῷ σου Ἄφες ἐκβάλω τὸ κάρφος ἐκ τοῦ ὀφθαλμοῦ σου καὶ ἰδοὺ ἡ δοκὸς ἐν τῷ ὀφθαλμῷ σοῦ
5You hypocrite! First take the beam out of your [own] eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye. 5ὑποκριτά ἔκβαλε πρῶτον ἐκ τοῦ ὀφθαλμοῦ σοῦ τὴν δοκόν καὶ τότε διαβλέψεις ἐκβαλεῖν τὸ κάρφος ἐκ τοῦ ὀφθαλμοῦ τοῦ ἀδελφοῦ σου
6{Do} not give dogs what is holy; {do} not throw your pearls before swine. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and then turn [and] tear you to pieces. 6Μὴ δῶτε τὸ ἅγιον τοῖς κυσίν μηδὲ βάλητε τοὺς μαργαρίτας ὑμῶν ἔμπροσθεν τῶν χοίρων μή‿ ποτε καταπατήσουσιν αὐτοὺς ἐν τοῖς ποσὶν αὐτῶν καὶ στραφέντες ῥήξωσιν ὑμᾶς
7Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and [the door] will be opened to you. 7Αἰτεῖτε καὶ δοθήσεται ὑμῖν ζητεῖτε καὶ εὑρήσετε κρούετε καὶ ἀνοιγήσεται ὑμῖν
8For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, [the door] will be opened. 8πᾶς γὰρ ὁ αἰτῶν λαμβάνει καὶ ὁ ζητῶν εὑρίσκει καὶ τῷ κρούοντι ἀνοιγήσεται
9Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 9Ἢ τίς ἐστιν ἐξ ὑμῶν ἄνθρωπος ὃν αἰτήσει ὁ υἱὸς αὐτοῦ ἄρτον μὴ λίθον ἐπιδώσει αὐτῷ
10Or [if] he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? 10ἢ καὶ ἰχθὺν αἰτήσει μὴ ὄφιν ἐπιδώσει αὐτῷ
11So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more {will} your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! 11εἰ οὖν ὑμεῖς πονηροὶ ὄντες οἴδατε δόματα ἀγαθὰ διδόναι τοῖς τέκνοις ὑμῶν πόσῳ μᾶλλον ὁ Πατὴρ ὑμῶν ὁ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς δώσει ἀγαθὰ τοῖς αἰτοῦσιν αὐτόν
12In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is [the essence of] the Law and the prophets. 12Πάντα οὖν ὅσα ἐὰν θέλητε ἵνα ποιῶσιν ὑμῖν οἱ ἄνθρωποι οὕτως καὶ ὑμεῖς ποιεῖτε αὐτοῖς οὗτος γάρ ἐστιν ὁ νόμος καὶ οἱ προφῆται
13Enter through the narrow gate. For wide [is] the gate and broad [is] the way that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 13Εἰσέλθατε διὰ τῆς στενῆς πύλης ὅτι πλατεῖα ἡ πύλη καὶ εὐρύχωρος ἡ ὁδὸς ἡ ἀπάγουσα εἰς τὴν ἀπώλειαν καὶ πολλοί εἰσιν οἱ εἰσερχόμενοι δι’ αὐτῆς
14But small [is] the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it. 14ὅτι στενὴ ἡ πύλη καὶ τεθλιμμένη ἡ ὁδὸς ἡ ἀπάγουσα εἰς τὴν ζωήν καὶ ὀλίγοι εἰσὶν οἱ εὑρίσκοντες αὐτήν
15Beware of false prophets. [They] come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 15Προσέχετε ἀπὸ τῶν ψευδοπροφητῶν οἵτινες ἔρχονται πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐν ἐνδύμασιν προβάτων ἔσωθεν δέ εἰσιν λύκοι ἅρπαγες
16By their fruit you will recognize them. Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 16ἀπὸ τῶν καρπῶν αὐτῶν ἐπιγνώσεσθε αὐτούς μήτι συλλέγουσιν ἀπὸ ἀκανθῶν σταφυλὰς ἢ ἀπὸ τριβόλων σῦκα
17Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 17οὕτως πᾶν δένδρον ἀγαθὸν καρποὺς καλοὺς ποιεῖ τὸ δὲ σαπρὸν δένδρον καρποὺς πονηροὺς ποιεῖ
18[A] good tree cannot bear bad fruit, [and a] bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 18οὐ δύναται δένδρον ἀγαθὸν καρποὺς πονηροὺς ποιεῖν* οὐδὲ δένδρον σαπρὸν καρποὺς καλοὺς ποιεῖν*
19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into [the] fire. 19πᾶν δένδρον μὴ ποιοῦν καρπὸν καλὸν ἐκκόπτεται καὶ εἰς πῦρ βάλλεται
20So then, by their fruit you will recognize them. 20ἄρα¦γε ἀπὸ τῶν καρπῶν αὐτῶν ἐπιγνώσεσθε αὐτούς
21Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 21Οὐ πᾶς ὁ λέγων μοι Κύριε Κύριε εἰσελεύσεται εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τῶν οὐρανῶν ἀλλ’ ὁ ποιῶν τὸ θέλημα τοῦ Πατρός μου τοῦ ἐν τοῖς οὐρανοῖς
22Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and [in] Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 22πολλοὶ ἐροῦσίν μοι ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ἡμέρᾳ Κύριε Κύριε οὐ τῷ σῷ ὀνόματι ἐπροφητεύσαμεν καὶ τῷ σῷ ὀνόματι δαιμόνια ἐξεβάλομεν καὶ τῷ σῷ ὀνόματι δυνάμεις πολλὰς ἐποιήσαμεν
23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, [you] workers of lawlessness!’ 23καὶ τότε ὁμολογήσω αὐτοῖς ὅτι Οὐδέποτε ἔγνων ὑμᾶς ἀποχωρεῖτε ἀπ’ ἐμοῦ οἱ ἐργαζόμενοι τὴν ἀνομίαν
24Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like [a] wise man who built his house on the rock. 24Πᾶς οὖν ὅστις ἀκούει μου τοὺς λόγους τούτους καὶ ποιεῖ αὐτούς ὁμοιωθήσεται ἀνδρὶ φρονίμῳ ὅστις ᾠκοδόμησεν αὐτοῦ τὴν οἰκίαν ἐπὶ τὴν πέτραν
25The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because its foundation was on the rock. 25καὶ κατέβη ἡ βροχὴ καὶ ἦλθον οἱ ποταμοὶ καὶ ἔπνευσαν οἱ ἄνεμοι καὶ προσέπεσαν τῇ οἰκίᾳ ἐκείνῃ καὶ οὐκ ἔπεσεν τεθεμελίωτο γὰρ ἐπὶ τὴν πέτραν
26But everyone who hears these words of Mine and does not act on them is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 26καὶ πᾶς ὁ ἀκούων μου τοὺς λόγους τούτους καὶ μὴ ποιῶν αὐτοὺς ὁμοιωθήσεται ἀνδρὶ μωρῷ ὅστις ᾠκοδόμησεν αὐτοῦ τὴν οἰκίαν ἐπὶ τὴν ἄμμον
27The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell— and great was its collapse!” 27καὶ κατέβη ἡ βροχὴ καὶ ἦλθον οἱ ποταμοὶ καὶ ἔπνευσαν οἱ ἄνεμοι καὶ προσέκοψαν τῇ οἰκίᾳ ἐκείνῃ καὶ ἔπεσεν καὶ ἦν ἡ πτῶσις αὐτῆς μεγάλη
28When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at His teaching, 28Καὶ ἐγένετο ὅτε ἐτέλεσεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς τοὺς λόγους τούτους ἐξεπλήσσοντο οἱ ὄχλοι ἐπὶ τῇ διδαχῇ αὐτοῦ
29because He taught as [one] who had authority, and not as their scribes. 29ἦν γὰρ διδάσκων αὐτοὺς ὡς ἐξουσίαν ἔχων καὶ οὐχ ὡς οἱ γραμματεῖς αὐτῶν
