1
When
the
Sabbath
was over,
Mary
Magdalene,
Mary
the [mother]
of James,
and
Salome
bought
spices
so
they could go
[and] anoint
[Jesus’ body].

Καὶ
διαγενομένου
τοῦ
σαββάτου
(ἡ)
Μαρία
ἡ
Μαγδαληνὴ
καὶ
Μαρία
ἡ
τοῦ
Ἰακώβου
καὶ
Σαλώμη
ἠγόρασαν
ἀρώματα
ἵνα
ἐλθοῦσαι

αὐτόν
2
Very
early
on the
first [day]
of the
week,
just after sunrise,
they went
to
the
tomb.

λίαν
πρωῒ
τῇ
μιᾷ
τῶν
σαββάτων

ἐπὶ
τὸ
μνημεῖον*
ἀνατείλαντος
τοῦ
ἡλίου
3
They were asking
one another,
“Who
will roll away
the
stone
from
the
entrance
of the
tomb?”
3
καὶ
ἔλεγον
πρὸς
ἑαυτάς
Τίς
ἀποκυλίσει
ἡμῖν
τὸν
λίθον
ἐκ
τῆς
θύρας
τοῦ
μνημείου
4
But
when they looked up,
they saw
that
the
stone
had been rolled away,
even though
it was
extremely
large.
4
καὶ
ἀναβλέψασαι
θεωροῦσιν
ὅτι
ἀποκεκύλισται*
ὁ
λίθος
ἦν
γὰρ
μέγας
σφόδρα
5
When
they entered
the
tomb,
they saw
a young man
dressed in
a white
robe
sitting
on
the
right side,
and
they were alarmed.
5
Καὶ
εἰσελθοῦσαι
εἰς
τὸ
μνημεῖον
εἶδον
νεανίσκον
καθήμενον
ἐν
τοῖς
δεξιοῖς
περιβεβλημένον
στολὴν
λευκήν
καὶ
ἐξεθαμβήθησαν
6
But
he said
to them,
“{Do} not
be alarmed.
You are looking for
Jesus
the
Nazarene,
who
was crucified.
He has risen!
He is
not
here!
See
the
place
where
they laid
Him.
6
ὁ
δὲ
λέγει
αὐταῖς
Μὴ
ἐκθαμβεῖσθε
Ἰησοῦν
ζητεῖτε
τὸν
Ναζαρηνὸν
τὸν
ἐσταυρωμένον
ἠγέρθη
οὐκ
ἔστιν
ὧδε

ὁ
τόπος
ὅπου
ἔθηκαν
αὐτόν
7
But
go,
tell
His
disciples
and
Peter,
‘He is going ahead of
you
into
Galilee.
There
you will see
Him,
just as
He told
you.’”
7
ἀλλὰ

αὐτοῦ

Προάγει
ὑμᾶς

τὴν
Γαλιλαίαν

ὑμῖν
8
So
they left
the
tomb
and ran away,
overwhelmed
with shock
and
amazement.
And
in their fear
they did not say
[a word to anyone].

After [Jesus] had risen,

Magdalene,
from

He had driven out

After
[this],

14
Later
as they were eating,
[Jesus] appeared
to the
eleven
and
rebuked them
for their
unbelief
and
hardness of heart,
because
they did not believe
those
who had seen
Him
after He had risen.

to them,
