2	And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they might put Him to death, for they were afraid of the people. 11	and you⁺ will say to the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, “Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?”’	and tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’	and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’
12	And he will show you⁺ a large furnished upper room. Make preparations there.”	And he will show you a large upper room furnished; prepare it there.”	He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.”
13	And having gone, they found it as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover.	And they went and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.	They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.
14	And when the hour was come, He reclined, and the apostles with Him.	And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him.	When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table.
15	And He said to them, “With desire I desired to eat this Passover with you⁺ before I suffer.	And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.	And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
16	For I say to you⁺ that no longer will I eat thereof until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”	For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”	For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”
17	And having received a cup, having given thanks, He said, “Take this and divide it among yourselves.	And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves.	After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you.
18	For I say to you⁺ that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now until the kingdom of God shall come.”	For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”	For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19	And having taken the bread, having given thanks, He broke it and gave to them, saying, “This is My body, which is given for you⁺; do this in remembrance of Me,”	And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”	And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
20	and the cup likewise, after the supping, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood, which is being poured out for you⁺.	And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.	In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
21	But, behold, the hand of him betraying Me is with Me on the table.	But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.	But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.
22	For indeed, the Son of Man goes according to that having been determined. But woe to that man by whom He is betrayed.”	For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!”	The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed. But woe to that man who betrays him!”
23	And they began to question among themselves who then it might be of them who is about to do this.	And they began to question one another, which of them it could be who was going to do this.	They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.
24	And there was also a dispute among them as to which of them is thought to be the greatest.	A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest.	A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest.
25	And He said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles rule over them, and those exercising authority over them are called benefactors. 26	But you⁺ shall not be thus. Rather, the greatest among you⁺, let him be as the younger, and the one leading as the one serving.	But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves.	But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.
27	For who is greater, the one reclining or the one serving? Is it not the one reclining? But I am in your⁺ midst as the One serving.	For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves.	For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.
28	Now you⁺ are those having remained with Me in My trials.	“You are those who have stayed with me in my trials,	You are those who have stood by me in my trials.
29	And I appoint to you⁺ a kingdom, as My Father appointed to Me,	and I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom,	And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me,

34	But He said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow today until you shall deny three times knowing Me.”	Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”	Jesus answered, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.”
35	And He said to them, “When I sent you⁺ without purse and bag and sandals, did you⁺ lack anything?” And they said, “Nothing.”	And he said to them, “When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”	Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Nothing,” they answered.
36	And He said to them, “But now, the one having a purse, let him take it, and likewise a bag; and the one having no sword, let him sell his cloak and buy one.	He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.	He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.
37	For I say to you⁺ that this which has been written, it is necessary to be accomplished in Me: ‘And He was reckoned with the lawless.’ For also the things concerning Me have an end.”	For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors.’ For what is written about me has its fulfillment.”	It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.”
38	And they said, “Lord, behold, here are two swords.” And He said to them, “It is enough.”	And they said, “Look, Lord, here are two swords.” And he said to them, “It is enough.”	The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.” “That’s enough!” he replied.
39	And having gone out, He went according to the custom to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples also followed Him.	And he came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him.	Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him.
40	And having come to the place, He said to them, “Pray not to enter into temptation.”	And when he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”	On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”
41	And He withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and having fallen on the knees, He was praying,	And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed,	He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed,
42	saying, “Father, if You are willing, take away this cup from Me. Yet not My will, but Yours, be done.”	saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”	“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
43	And an angel from heaven appeared to Him, strengthening Him.	And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.	An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.
44	And having been in agony, He was praying more earnestly. And His sweat became like large drops of blood falling down upon the ground.	And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.	And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
45	And having risen up from the prayer, having come to the disciples, He found them sleeping from the grief.	And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow,	When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow.
46	And He said to them, “Why are you⁺ sleeping? Having risen up, pray that you⁺ might not enter into temptation.”	and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”	“Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”
47	In His still speaking, behold, a crowd, and he who is called Judas, one of the Twelve, was going before them, and he drew near to Jesus to kiss Him.	While he was still speaking, there came a crowd, and the man called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He drew near to Jesus to kiss him,	While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him,
48	And Jesus said to him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”	but Jesus said to him, “Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”	but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
49	And those around Him, having seen what would be, said, “Lord, will we strike with the sword?”	And when those who were around him saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”	When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?”
50	And a certain one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.	And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.	And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
51	But Jesus, answering, said, “Permit only as far as” this! And having touched the ear, He healed him.	But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him.	But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.
52	And Jesus said to those having come out against Him, the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders, “Have you⁺ come out with swords and clubs as against a robber?	Then Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders, who had come out against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?	Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders, who had come for him, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs?
53	Every day of My being with you⁺ in the temple, you⁺ did not stretch out the hands against Me; but this is your⁺ hour, and that of the power of the darkness.”	When I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”	Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour—when darkness reigns.”
54	And having seized Him, they led Him away and led Him into the house of the high priest. And Peter was following afar off.	Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest’s house, and Peter was following at a distance.	Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance.
55	And on their having kindled a fire in the midst of the courtyard and having sat down together, Peter was sitting among them. 56	And a certain servant girl, having seen him sitting by the light and having looked intently on him, said, “This one also was with Him.”	Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.”	A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, “This man was with him.”
57	But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.”	But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.”	But he denied it. “Woman, I don’t know him,” he said.
58	And after a little, having seen him, another was saying, “You also are of them.” But Peter was saying, “Man, I am not.”	And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.”	A little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” “Man, I am not!” Peter replied.
59	And about one hour having elapsed, a certain other strongly affirmed it, saying, “Of a truth, this one also was with Him; for he is also a Galilean.”	And after an interval of about an hour still another insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.”	About an hour later another asserted, “Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean.”
60	But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you say.” And immediately in his still speaking, a rooster crowed.	But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.	Peter replied, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed.
61	And having turned, the Lord looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny Me three times.”	And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.”	The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.”
62	And having gone forth outside, he wept bitterly.	And he went out and wept bitterly.	And he went outside and wept bitterly.
63	And the men who are holding Him began mocking Him, beating Him.	Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking him as they beat him.	The men who were guarding Jesus began mocking and beating him.
64	And having blindfolded Him, they were questioning Him, saying, “Prophesy, who is the one having struck You?”	They also blindfolded him and kept asking him, “Prophesy! Who is it that struck you?”	They blindfolded him and demanded, “Prophesy! Who hit you?”
65	And they were saying many other things to Him, blaspheming.	And they said many other things against him, blaspheming him.	And they said many other insulting things to him.
66	And when it was day, the elderhood of the people were gathered together, both chief priests and scribes, and they led Him into their Council, saying,	When day came, the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes. And they led him away to their council, and they said,	At daybreak the council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and the teachers of the law, met together, and Jesus was led before them.
67	“If You are the Christ, tell us.” But He said to them, “If I should tell you⁺, you⁺ would not believe,	“If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe,	“If you are the Messiah,” they said, “tell us.” Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe me,
68	and if I should ask you, you⁺ would not answer.	and if I ask you, you will not answer.	and if I asked you, you would not answer.
69	But from now on the Son of Man will be sitting at the right hand of the power of God.”	But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”	But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”
70	And they all said, “Are You then the Son of God?” And He was saying to them, “You⁺ say that I am.”	So they all said, “Are you the Son of God, then?” And he said to them, “You say that I am.”	They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?” He replied, “You say that I am.”
71	And they said, “What need do we have of any more testimony? For we ourselves heard it from His mouth.”	Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips.”	Then they said, “Why do we need any more testimony? We have heard it from his own lips.”
