Now concerning spiritual gifts: brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be unaware.1Περὶ δὲ τῶν πνευματικῶν ἀδελφοί οὐ θέλω ὑμᾶς ἀγνοεῖν
You know that when you were pagans, you used to be enticed and led astray by mute idols.2Οἴδατε ὅτι ὅτε ἔθνη ἦτε πρὸς τὰ εἴδωλα τὰ ἄφωνα ὡς ἂν ἤγεσθε ἀπαγόμενοι
Therefore I want you to know that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, "Jesus is cursed," and no one can say, "Jesus is Lord," except by the Holy Spirit.3διὸ γνωρίζω ὑμῖν ὅτι οὐδεὶς ἐν Πνεύματι Θεοῦ λαλῶν λέγει Αναθεμα ΙΗΣΟΥΣ καὶ οὐδεὶς δύναται εἰπεῖν Κυριος ΙΗΣΟΥΣ εἰ μὴ ἐν Πνεύματι Ἁγίῳ
Now there are different gifts, but the same Spirit.4Διαιρέσεις δὲ χαρισμάτων εἰσίν τὸ δὲ αὐτὸ Πνεῦμα
There are different ministries, but the same Lord.5καὶ διαιρέσεις διακονιῶν εἰσιν καὶ αὐτὸς Κύριος
And there are different activities, but the same God produces each gift in each person.6καὶ διαιρέσεις ἐνεργημάτων εἰσίν (καὶ) δὲ αὐτὸς Θεός ἐνεργῶν τὰ πάντα ἐν πᾶσιν
A manifestation of the Spirit is given to each person for the common good:7Ἑκάστῳ δὲ δίδοται φανέρωσις τοῦ Πνεύματος πρὸς τὸ συμφέρον
to one is given a message of wisdom through the Spirit, to another, a message of knowledge by the same Spirit,8 μὲν γὰρ διὰ τοῦ Πνεύματος δίδοται λόγος σοφίας ἄλλῳ δὲ λόγος γνώσεως κατὰ τὸ αὐτὸ Πνεῦμα
to another, faith by the same Spirit, to another, gifts of healing by the one Spirit,9ἑτέρῳ πίστις ἐν τῷ αὐτῷ Πνεύματι ἄλλῳ δὲ χαρίσματα ἰαμάτων ἐν τῷ ἑνὶ Πνεύματι
to another, the performing of miracles, to another, prophecy, to another, distinguishing between spirits, to another, different kinds of tongues, to another, interpretation of tongues.10ἄλλῳ δὲ ἐνεργήματα δυνάμεων ἄλλῳ δὲ προφητεία ἄλλῳ δὲ διακρίσεις πνευμάτων ἑτέρῳ γένη γλωσσῶν ἄλλῳ δὲ ἑρμηνεία γλωσσῶν
One and the same Spirit is active in all these, distributing to each person as he wills.11πάντα δὲ ταῦτα ἐνεργεῖ τὸ ἓν καὶ τὸ αὐτὸ Πνεῦμα διαιροῦν ἰδίᾳ ἑκάστῳ καθὼς βούλεται
For just as the body is one and has many parts, and all the parts of that body, though many, are one body--so also is Christ.12Καθάπερ γὰρ τὸ σῶμα ἕν ἐστιν καὶ μέλη πολλὰ ἔχει πάντα δὲ τὰ μέλη τοῦ σώματος πολλὰ ὄντα ἕν ἐστιν σῶμα οὕτως καὶ Χριστός
For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body--whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free--and we were all given one Spirit to drink.13καὶ γὰρ ἐν ἑνὶ Πνεύματι ἡμεῖς πάντες εἰς ἓν σῶμα ἐβαπτίσθημεν εἴτε Ἰουδαῖοι εἴτε Ἕλληνες εἴτε δοῦλοι εἴτε ἐλεύθεροι καὶ πάντες ἓν Πνεῦμα ἐποτίσθημεν
Indeed, the body is not one part but many.14Καὶ γὰρ τὸ σῶμα οὐκ ἔστιν ἓν μέλος ἀλλὰ πολλά
If the foot should say, "Because I'm not a hand, I don't belong to the body," it is not for that reason any less a part of the body.15ἐὰν εἴπῃ πούς Ὅτι οὐκ εἰμὶ χείρ οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐκ τοῦ σώματος οὐ παρὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σώματος
And if the ear should say, "Because I'm not an eye, I don't belong to the body," it is not for that reason any less a part of the body.16καὶ ἐὰν εἴπῃ τὸ οὖς Ὅτι οὐκ εἰμὶ ὀφθαλμός οὐκ εἰμὶ ἐκ τοῦ σώματος οὐ παρὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σώματος
If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?17εἰ ὅλον τὸ σῶμα ὀφθαλμός ποῦ ἀκοή εἰ ὅλον ἀκοή ποῦ ὄσφρησις
But as it is, God has arranged each one of the parts in the body just as he wanted.18Νυνὶ* δὲ Θεὸς ἔθετο τὰ μέλη ἓν ἕκαστον αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ σώματι καθὼς ἠθέλησεν
And if they were all the same part, where would the body be?19εἰ δὲ ἦν τὰ πάντα ἓν μέλος ποῦ τὸ σῶμα
As it is, there are many parts, but one body.20νῦν δὲ πολλὰ μὲν μέλη ἓν δὲ σῶμα
The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" Or again, the head can't say to the feet, "I don't need you!"21Οὐ δύναται δὲ ὀφθαλμὸς εἰπεῖν τῇ χειρί Χρείαν σου οὐκ ἔχω πάλιν κεφαλὴ τοῖς ποσίν Χρείαν ὑμῶν οὐκ ἔχω
On the contrary, those parts of the body that are weaker are indispensable.22ἀλλὰ πολλῷ μᾶλλον τὰ δοκοῦντα μέλη τοῦ σώματος ἀσθενέστερα ὑπάρχειν ἀναγκαῖά ἐστιν
And those parts of the body that we consider less honorable, we clothe these with greater honor, and our unrespectable parts are treated with greater respect,23καὶ δοκοῦμεν ἀτιμότερα εἶναι τοῦ σώματος τούτοις τιμὴν περισσοτέραν περιτίθεμεν καὶ τὰ ἀσχήμονα ἡμῶν εὐσχημοσύνην περισσοτέραν ἔχει
which our respectable parts do not need. Instead, God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the less honorable,24τὰ δὲ εὐσχήμονα ἡμῶν οὐ χρείαν ἔχει Ἀλλὰ θεὸς συνεκέρασεν τὸ σῶμα τῷ ὑστερουμένῳ περισσοτέραν δοὺς τιμήν
so that there would be no division in the body, but that the members would have the same concern for each other.25ἵνα μὴ σχίσμα ἐν τῷ σώματι ἀλλὰ τὸ αὐτὸ ὑπὲρ ἀλλήλων μεριμνῶσιν τὰ μέλη
So if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.26καὶ εἴτε πάσχει ἓν μέλος συμπάσχει πάντα τὰ μέλη εἴτε δοξάζεται [ἓν] μέλος συνχαίρει πάντα τὰ μέλη
Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it.27Ὑμεῖς δέ ἐστε σῶμα Χριστοῦ καὶ μέλη ἐκ μέρους
And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, various kinds of tongues.28Καὶ οὓς μὲν ἔθετο Θεὸς ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ πρῶτον ἀποστόλους δεύτερον προφήτας τρίτον διδασκάλους ἔπειτα δυνάμεις ἔπειτα χαρίσματα ἰαμάτων ἀντιλήμψεις κυβερνήσεις γένη γλωσσῶν
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all do miracles?29μὴ πάντες ἀπόστολοι μὴ πάντες προφῆται μὴ πάντες διδάσκαλοι μὴ πάντες δυνάμεις
Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in other tongues? Do all interpret?30μὴ πάντες χαρίσματα ἔχουσιν ἰαμάτων μὴ πάντες γλώσσαις λαλοῦσιν μὴ πάντες διερμηνεύουσιν
But desire the greater gifts. And I will show you an even better way.31ζηλοῦτε δὲ τὰ χαρίσματα τὰ μείζονα Καὶ ἔτι καθ’ ὑπερβολὴν ὁδὸν ὑμῖν δείκνυμι
