Nebuchadnezzar Confesses God’s Kingdom

1  נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֣ר (Nebuchadnezzar) מַלְכָּ֗א (the king),

לְֽכָל־ (to all) עַֽמְמַיָּ֞א (the peoples), אֻמַיָּ֧א (nations), וְלִשָּׁנַיָּ֛א (and languages), דִּֽי־ (who) דָאֲרִין (are dwelling) בְּכָל־ (in all) אַרְעָ֖א (the earth);

שְׁלָמְכ֥וֹן (your⁺ peace) יִשְׂגֵּֽא׃ (be multiplied). 2  אָֽתַיָּא֙ (The signs) וְתִמְהַיָּ֔א (and the wonders) דִּ֚י (that) עֲבַ֣ד (has worked) עִמִּ֔י (for me) אֱלָהָ֖א (the God) עִלָּיָא (Most High) שְׁפַ֥ר (is seemed proper) קָֽדָמַ֖י (for me) לְהַחֲוָיָֽה׃ (to show).

3  אָת֙וֹהִי֙ (His signs)! כְּמָ֣ה (How) רַבְרְבִ֔ין (great)

וְתִמְה֖וֹהִי (and His wonders)! כְּמָ֣ה (How) תַקִּיפִ֑ין (mighty)

מַלְכוּתֵהּ֙ (His kingdom is) מַלְכ֣וּת (a kingdom for), עָלַ֔ם (the age)

וְשָׁלְטָנֵ֖הּ (and His dominion is) עִם־ (from) דָּ֥ר (generation) וְדָֽר׃ (and to generation).

Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream of a Great Tree

4  אֲנָ֣ה (I) נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֗ר (Nebuchadnezzar) שְׁלֵ֤ה (at ease) הֲוֵית֙ (was) בְּבֵיתִ֔י (in my house), וְרַעְנַ֖ן (and flourishing) בְּהֵיכְלִֽי׃ (in my palace). 5  חֵ֥לֶם (A dream) חֲזֵ֖ית (I saw) וִֽידַחֲלִנַּ֑נִי (and it frightened me), וְהַרְהֹרִין֙ (and the thoughts) עַֽל־ (upon) מִשְׁכְּבִ֔י (my bed) וְחֶזְוֵ֥י (and visions) רֵאשִׁ֖י (of my head) יְבַהֲלֻנַּֽנִי׃ (alarmed me). 6  וּמִנִּי֙ (And from me) שִׂ֣ים (was set forth) טְעֵ֔ם (a decree) לְהַנְעָלָ֣ה (to bring in) קָֽדָמַ֔י (before me) לְכֹ֖ל (all) חַכִּימֵ֣י (the wise men) בָבֶ֑ל (of Babylon) דִּֽי־ (that) פְשַׁ֥ר (the interpretation) חֶלְמָ֖א (of the dream) יְהֽוֹדְעֻנַּֽנִי׃ (they should make known to me). 7  בֵּאדַ֣יִן (Then) עָלֲלִין (came in) חַרְטֻמַיָּא֙ (the magicians), אָֽשְׁפַיָּ֔א (the enchanters), כַּשְׂדָּיֵא (the astrologers), וְגָזְרַיָּ֑א (and the diviners); וְחֶלְמָ֗א (and the dream) אָמַ֤ר (told) אֲנָה֙ (I) קֳדָ֣מֵיה֔וֹן (before them) וּפִשְׁרֵ֖הּ (and its interpretation) לָא־ (not) מְהוֹדְעִ֥ין (could they make known) לִֽי׃ (to me).

8  וְעַ֣ד (And at) אָחֳרֵ֡ין (last) עַל֩ (came) קָֽדָמַ֨י (before me) דָּנִיֵּ֜אל (Daniel) דִּֽי־ (of whom) שְׁמֵ֤הּ (his name is) בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּר֙ (Belteshazzar), כְּשֻׁ֣ם (according to the name) אֱלָהִ֔י (of my god), וְדִ֛י (and for whom) רֽוּחַ־ (the Spirit) אֱלָהִ֥ין (of the gods); קַדִּישִׁ֖ין (holy) בֵּ֑הּ (is in him) וְחֶלְמָ֖א (and the dream), קָֽדָמ֥וֹהִי (before him) אַמְרֵֽת׃ (I told). 9  בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּר֮ (O Belteshazzar), רַ֣ב (chief) חַרְטֻמַיָּא֒ (of the magicians), דִּ֣י׀ (because) אֲנָ֣ה (I) יִדְעֵ֗ת (know) דִּ֠י (that) ר֣וּחַ (the Spirit) אֱלָהִ֤ין (of the gods) קַדִּישִׁין֙ (holy) בָּ֔ךְ (is in you) וְכָל־ (and) רָ֖ז (a secret) לָא־ (not) אָנֵ֣ס (is constraining) לָ֑ךְ (for you) חֶזְוֵ֨י (so the visions) חֶלְמִ֧י (of my dream) דִֽי־ (that) חֲזֵ֛ית (I have seen), וּפִשְׁרֵ֖הּ (and its interpretation) אֱמַֽר׃ (may you tell to me). 10  וְחֶזְוֵ֥י (And the visions) רֵאשִׁ֖י (of my head) עַֽל־ (upon) מִשְׁכְּבִ֑י (my bed);

חָזֵ֣ה (looking) הֲוֵ֔ית (I was) וַאֲל֥וּ (and behold) אִילָ֛ן (a tree) בְּג֥וֹא (in the midst) אַרְעָ֖א (of the earth),

וְרוּמֵ֥הּ (and its height) שַׂגִּֽיא׃ (was great).

11  רְבָ֥ה (Grew large), אִֽילָנָ֖א (the tree) וּתְקִ֑ף (and became strong),

וְרוּמֵהּ֙ (and its height) יִמְטֵ֣א (reached) לִשְׁמַיָּ֔א (to the heavens),

וַחֲזוֹתֵ֖הּ (and the sight of it)

לְס֥וֹף (to the ends) כָּל־ (of all) אַרְעָֽא׃ (the earth).

12  עָפְיֵ֤הּ (Its leaves) שַׁפִּיר֙ (were lovely),

וְאִנְבֵּ֣הּ (and its fruit) שַׂגִּ֔יא (abundant),

וּמָז֨וֹן (and food) לְכֹ֖לָּא־ (for all). בֵ֑הּ (Was in it)

תְּחֹת֜וֹהִי (under it) תַּטְלֵ֣ל׀ (found shade) חֵיוַ֣ת (the beasts) בָּרָ֗א (of the field)

וּבְעַנְפ֙וֹהִי֙ (and in its branches) יְדֻרוּן (dwelt) צִפֲּרֵ֣י (the birds) שְׁמַיָּ֔א (of the heavens)

וּמִנֵּ֖הּ (and from it) יִתְּזִ֥ין (was fed) כָּל־ (all) בִּשְׂרָֽא׃ (flesh).

13  חָזֵ֥ה (Looking) הֲוֵ֛ית (I was) בְּחֶזְוֵ֥י (at the visions) רֵאשִׁ֖י (of my head) עַֽל־ (upon) מִשְׁכְּבִ֑י (my bed), וַאֲלוּ֙ (and behold), עִ֣יר (a watcher) וְקַדִּ֔ישׁ (and a holy one) מִן־ (from) שְׁמַיָּ֖א (heaven); נָחִֽת׃ (was coming down). 14  קָרֵ֨א (He called out) בְחַ֜יִל (with strength), וְכֵ֣ן (and thus), אָמַ֗ר (said)

גֹּ֤דּוּ (Chop down) אִֽילָנָא֙ (the tree), וְקַצִּ֣צוּ (and cut off) עַנְפ֔וֹהִי (its branches),

אַתַּ֥רוּ (Strip off) עָפְיֵ֖הּ (its leaves), וּבַדַּ֣רוּ (and scatter) אִנְבֵּ֑הּ (its fruit);

תְּנֻ֤ד (let flee) חֵֽיוְתָא֙ (the beasts) מִן־ (from) תַּחְתּ֔וֹהִי (under it)

וְצִפְּרַיָּ֖א (and the birds) מִן־ (from) עַנְפֽוֹהִי׃ (its branches).

15  בְּרַ֨ם (Nevertheless) עִקַּ֤ר (the stump) שָׁרְשׁ֙וֹהִי֙ (and its roots) בְּאַרְעָ֣א (in the ground), שְׁבֻ֔קוּ (leave)

וּבֶֽאֱסוּר֙ (with a band) דִּֽי־ (-) פַרְזֶ֣ל (of iron) וּנְחָ֔שׁ (and bronze),

בְּדִתְאָ֖א (in the grass) דִּ֣י (-) בָרָ֑א (of the field);

וּבְטַ֤ל (and with the dew) שְׁמַיָּא֙ (of heaven), יִצְטַבַּ֔ע (let it be wet)

וְעִם־ (and with) חֵיוְתָ֥א (the beasts) חֲלָקֵ֖הּ (let his portion be) בַּעֲשַׂ֥ב (in the grass) אַרְעָֽא׃ (of the earth).

16  לִבְבֵהּ֙ (His heart) מִן־ (from) אֱנוֹשָׁא (that of a man), יְשַׁנּ֔וֹן (let it be changed)

וּלְבַ֥ב (and the heart) חֵיוָ֖ה (of a beast) יִתְיְהִ֣ב (let be given) לֵ֑הּ (to him)

וְשִׁבְעָ֥ה (and seven) עִדָּנִ֖ין (times) יַחְלְפ֥וּן (let pass) עֲלֽוֹהִי׃ (over him).

17  בִּגְזֵרַ֤ת (By decree) עִירִין֙ (of the watchers), פִּתְגָמָ֔א (is the sentence)

וּמֵאמַ֥ר (and by word) קַדִּישִׁ֖ין (of the holy ones); שְׁאֵֽלְתָ֑א (is the decision)

עַד־ (in) דִּבְרַ֡ת (order) דִּ֣י (that) יִנְדְּע֣וּן (may know) חַ֠יַּיָּא (those living)

דִּֽי־ (that) שַׁלִּ֨יט (is ruling) עִלָּיָא (the Most High) בְּמַלְכ֣וּת (over the kingdom) אֱנוֹשָׁא (of men),

וּלְמַן־ (and to whom) דִּ֤י (-) יִצְבֵּא֙ (He wishes), יִתְּנִנַּ֔הּ (He gives it)

וּשְׁפַ֥ל (and the lowest) אֲנָשִׁ֖ים (of men). יְקִ֥ים (He sets) עֲלַיַּהּ׃ (over it).

18  דְּנָה֙ (This) חֶלְמָ֣א (dream) חֲזֵ֔ית (have seen). אֲנָ֖ה (I) מַלְכָּ֣א (King) נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֑ר (Nebuchadnezzar) וְאַנְתָּה (and you), בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּ֜ר (Belteshazzar), פִּשְׁרֵ֣א׀ (its interpretation) אֱמַ֗ר (must declare) כָּל־ (-) קֳבֵל֙ (inasmuch) דִּ֣י׀ (as) כָּל־ (all) חַכִּימֵ֣י (the wise men) מַלְכוּתִ֗י (of my kingdom) לָֽא־ (not) יָכְלִ֤ין (are able) פִּשְׁרָא֙ (the interpretation); לְהוֹדָ֣עֻתַ֔נִי (to make known to me) וְאַנְתָּה (and you) כָּהֵ֔ל (are able); דִּ֛י (for) רֽוּחַ־ (the Spirit) אֱלָהִ֥ין (of the gods) קַדִּישִׁ֖ין (holy) בָּֽךְ׃ (is in you).

Daniel Interprets the Second Dream

19  אֱדַ֨יִן (Then) דָּֽנִיֵּ֜אל (Daniel), דִּֽי־ (of whom) שְׁמֵ֣הּ (his name is) בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּ֗ר (Belteshazzar), אֶשְׁתּוֹמַם֙ (was dismayed) כְּשָׁעָ֣ה (for a moment), חֲדָ֔ה (one) וְרַעְיֹנֹ֖הִי (and his thoughts) יְבַהֲלֻנֵּ֑הּ (disturbed him)

עָנֵ֨ה (answered), מַלְכָּ֜א (the king) וְאָמַ֗ר (and said), בֵּלְטְשַׁאצַּר֙ (Belteshazzar), חֶלְמָ֤א (the dream), וּפִשְׁרֵא֙ (and its interpretation) אַֽל־ (do not) יְבַהֲלָ֔ךְ (let it trouble you)

עָנֵ֤ה (answered) בֵלְטְשַׁאצַּר֙ (Belteshazzar) וְאָמַ֔ר (and said), מָרְאִי (My lord), חֶלְמָ֥א (the dream) לְשָׂנְאַיִךְ (be for those hating you) וּפִשְׁרֵ֥הּ (and its interpretation) לְעָרַיִךְ׃ (for your enemies).

20  אִֽילָנָא֙ (The tree) דִּ֣י (that) חֲזַ֔יְתָ (you saw), דִּ֥י (which) רְבָ֖ה (grew large), וּתְקִ֑ף (and became strong), וְרוּמֵהּ֙ (and whose height) יִמְטֵ֣א (reached) לִשְׁמַיָּ֔א (to the heavens), וַחֲזוֹתֵ֖הּ (and in view) לְכָל־ (of all) אַרְעָֽא׃ (the earth); 21  וְעָפְיֵ֤הּ (and whose leaves) שַׁפִּיר֙ (were lovely), וְאִנְבֵּ֣הּ (and its fruit) שַׂגִּ֔יא (abundant), וּמָז֨וֹן (and food) לְכֹ֖לָּא־ (for all); בֵ֑הּ (was in it) תְּחֹת֗וֹהִי (under which) תְּדוּר֙ (dwelt), חֵיוַ֣ת (the beasts) בָּרָ֔א (of the field) וּבְעַנְפ֕וֹהִי (and in whose branches) יִשְׁכְּנָ֖ן (dwelt); צִפֲּרֵ֥י (the birds) שְׁמַיָּֽא׃ (of the heavens). 22  אַנְתָּה (You), ה֣וּא (it is) מַלְכָּ֔א (O king), דִּ֥י (who) רְבַ֖ית (have grown great) וּתְקֵ֑פְתְּ (and become strong); וּרְבוּתָ֤ךְ (for your greatness) רְבָת֙ (has grown great), וּמְטָ֣ת (and it reaches) לִשְׁמַיָּ֔א (to the heavens), וְשָׁלְטָנָ֖ךְ (and your dominion) לְס֥וֹף (to the end) אַרְעָֽא׃ (of the earth).

23  וְדִ֣י (In that) חֲזָ֣ה (saw) מַלְכָּ֡א (the king) עִ֣יר (a watcher) וְקַדִּ֣ישׁ (and a holy one) נָחִ֣ת׀ (coming down) מִן־ (from) שְׁמַיָּ֡א (heaven), וְאָמַר֩ (and saying),

גֹּ֨דּוּ (Chop down) אִֽילָנָ֜א (tree the) וְחַבְּל֗וּהִי (and destroy it)

בְּרַ֨ם (but) עִקַּ֤ר (its stump) שָׁרְשׁ֙וֹהִי֙ (and roots) בְּאַרְעָ֣א (in the earth), שְׁבֻ֔קוּ (leave)

וּבֶאֱסוּר֙ (with a band) דִּֽי־ (that is) פַרְזֶ֣ל (of iron) וּנְחָ֔שׁ (and bronze),

בְּדִתְאָ֖א (in the tender grass) דִּ֣י (that is) בָרָ֑א (of the field);

וּבְטַ֧ל (and with dew) שְׁמַיָּ֣א (of heaven), יִצְטַבַּ֗ע (let it be wet)

וְעִם־ (and with) חֵיוַ֤ת (the beasts) בָּרָא֙ (of the field), חֲלָקֵ֔הּ (let his portion be)

עַ֛ד (until) דִּֽי־ (that) שִׁבְעָ֥ה (seven) עִדָּנִ֖ין (times) יַחְלְפ֥וּן (should pass) עֲלֽוֹהִי׃ (over him).

24  דְּנָ֥ה (This is) פִשְׁרָ֖א (the interpretation), מַלְכָּ֑א (O king), וּגְזֵרַ֤ת (and the decree) עִלָּיָא (of the Most High), הִ֔יא (it is) דִּ֥י (that) מְטָ֖ת (has come) עַל־ (upon) מַרְאִי (my lord) מַלְכָּֽא׃ (the king):

25  וְלָ֣ךְ (That you) טָֽרְדִ֣ין (they shall drive away) מִן־ (from) אֲנָשָׁ֡א (men), וְעִם־ (and with) חֵיוַ֣ת (the beasts) בָּרָא֩ (of the field), לֶהֱוֵ֨ה (shall be) מְדֹרָ֜ךְ (your dwelling) וְעִשְׂבָּ֥א (and grass) כְתוֹרִ֣ין׀ (like oxen), לָ֣ךְ (you) יְטַֽעֲמ֗וּן (they shall make eat) וּמִטַּ֤ל (and from the dew of) שְׁמַיָּא֙ (heaven), לָ֣ךְ (you) מְצַבְּעִ֔ין (they shall wet) וְשִׁבְעָ֥ה (and seven) עִדָּנִ֖ין (times) יַחְלְפ֣וּן (shall pass) עֲלָ֑יךְ (over you) עַ֣ד (until) דִּֽי־ (that) תִנְדַּ֗ע (you come to know) דִּֽי־ (that) שַׁלִּ֤יט (is ruling) עִלָּיאָ֙ (the Most High) בְּמַלְכ֣וּת (over the kingdom) אֲנָשָׁ֔א (of men), וּלְמַן־ (and to whom) דִּ֥י (that) יִצְבֵּ֖א (He chooses) יִתְּנִנַּֽהּ׃ (He gives it).

26  וְדִ֣י (And as) אֲמַ֗רוּ (they commanded) לְמִשְׁבַּ֞ק (to leave) עִקַּ֤ר (the stump) שָׁרְשׁ֙וֹהִי֙ (and its roots); דִּ֣י (for) אִֽילָנָ֔א (the tree) מַלְכוּתָ֖ךְ (your kingdom) לָ֣ךְ (to you) קַיָּמָ֑ה (will be assured) מִן־ (from) דִּ֣י (when) תִנְדַּ֔ע (you come to know) דִּ֥י (that) שַׁלִּטִ֖ן (is ruling) שְׁמַיָּֽא׃ (Heaven). 27  לָהֵ֣ן (Therefore), מַלְכָּ֗א (O king), מִלְכִּי֙ (my counsel) יִשְׁפַּ֣ר (let be acceptable) עֲלַיִךְ (to you) וַחֲטָיָךְ (and your sins) בְּצִדְקָ֣ה (with righteousness) פְרֻ֔ק (may you break off), וַעֲוָיָתָ֖ךְ (and your iniquities) בְּמִחַ֣ן (by showing mercy) עֲנָ֑יִן (to the poor); הֵ֛ן (that) תֶּהֱוֵ֥א (there may be) אַרְכָ֖ה (a lengthening) לִשְׁלֵוְתָֽךְ׃ (of your prosperity).

The Second Dream Fulfilled

28  כֹּ֣לָּא (This all) מְּטָ֔א (came) עַל־ (upon) נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֖ר (Nebuchadnezzar) מַלְכָּֽא׃פ (the king). 29  לִקְצָ֥ת (At the end) יַרְחִ֖ין (of months) תְּרֵֽי־ (two) עֲשַׂ֑ר (and ten) עַל־ (about) הֵיכַ֧ל (the palace) מַלְכוּתָ֛א (of the kingdom) דִּ֥י (-) בָבֶ֖ל (of Babylon) מְהַלֵּ֥ךְ (walking) הֲוָֽה׃ (he was). 30  עָנֵ֤ה (Answered), מַלְכָּא֙ (the king) וְאָמַ֔ר (and said), הֲלָ֥א (Is not) דָא־ (this) הִ֖יא (-) בָּבֶ֣ל (Babylon), רַבְּתָ֑א (the great) דִּֽי־ (which) אֲנָ֤ה (I myself) בֱנַיְתַהּ֙ (have built) לְבֵ֣ית (as a house for) מַלְכ֔וּ (the kingdom) בִּתְקַ֥ף (by the might) חִסְנִ֖י (of my power), וְלִיקָ֥ר (and for the honor) הַדְרִֽי׃ (of my majesty)?

31  ע֗וֹד (Still) מִלְּתָא֙ (the words) בְּפֻ֣ם (in the mouth), מַלְכָּ֔א (of king) קָ֖ל (a voice) מִן־ (from) שְׁמַיָּ֣א (heaven), נְפַ֑ל (fell) לָ֤ךְ (To you) אָֽמְרִין֙ (it is spoken); נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֣ר (Nebuchadnezzar), מַלְכָּ֔א (the king) מַלְכוּתָ֖ה (The kingdom) עֲדָ֥ת (has passed away) מִנָּֽךְ׃ (from you). 32  וּמִן־ (And away from) אֲנָשָׁא֩ (men), לָ֨ךְ (you) טָֽרְדִ֜ין (they shall drive) וְֽעִם־ (and with) חֵיוַ֧ת (the beasts) בָּרָ֣א (of the field). מְדֹרָ֗ךְ (Your dwelling shall be) עִשְׂבָּ֤א (grass) כְתוֹרִין֙ (like oxen), לָ֣ךְ (you) יְטַעֲמ֔וּן (they shall make eat) וְשִׁבְעָ֥ה (and seven) עִדָּנִ֖ין (times) יַחְלְפ֣וּן (shall pass) עִלַיִךְ (over you) עַ֣ד (until) דִּֽי־ (when) תִנְדַּ֗ע (you come to know) דִּֽי־ (that) שַׁלִּ֤יט (is ruling) עִלָּיאָ֙ (the Most High) בְּמַלְכ֣וּת (over the kingdom) אֲנָשָׁ֔א (of man), וּלְמַן־ (and to whom) דִּ֥י (that) יִצְבֵּ֖א (He chooses) יִתְּנִנַּֽהּ׃ (He gives it).

33  בַּהּ־ (At that) שַׁעֲתָ֗א (moment) מִלְּתָא֮ (the word) סָ֣פַת (was fulfilled) עַל־ (concerning) נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּר֒ (Nebuchadnezzar); וּמִן־ (and from) אֲנָשָׁ֣א (men), טְרִ֔יד (he was driven) וְעִשְׂבָּ֤א (and grass) כְתוֹרִין֙ (like oxen), יֵאכֻ֔ל (he ate) וּמִטַּ֥ל (and with the dew) שְׁמַיָּ֖א (of heaven), גִּשְׁמֵ֣הּ (his body) יִצְטַבַּ֑ע (became wet) עַ֣ד (until) דִּ֥י (-) שַׂעְרֵ֛הּ (his hair) כְּנִשְׁרִ֥ין (as eagles) רְבָ֖ה (had grown) וְטִפְר֥וֹהִי (and his nails) כְצִפְּרִֽין׃ (as birds).

34  וְלִקְצָ֣ת (And at the end) יֽוֹמַיָּה֩ (of the days) אֲנָ֨ה (I) נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֜ר (Nebuchadnezzar) עַיְנַ֣י׀ (my eyes) לִשְׁמַיָּ֣א (to the heavens), נִטְלֵ֗ת (lifted) וּמַנְדְּעִי֙ (and my understanding) עֲלַ֣י (to me) יְת֔וּב (returned) וּלְעִלָּיָא (and to the Most High), בָּרְכֵ֔ת (I offered blessing) וּלְחַ֥י (and to the One Living) עָלְמָ֖א (forever), שַׁבְּחֵ֣ת (I gave praise) וְהַדְּרֵ֑ת (and honor declaring)

דִּ֤י (For) שָׁלְטָנֵהּ֙ (His dominion is) שָׁלְטָ֣ן (a dominion), עָלַ֔ם (everlasting)

וּמַלְכוּתֵ֖הּ (and His kingdom is) עִם־ (from) דָּ֥ר (generation) וְדָֽר׃ (and to generation).

35  וְכָל־ (And all) דָּאֲרֵי (the dwellers) אַרְעָא֙ (of the earth)

כְּלָ֣ה (as nothing), חֲשִׁיבִ֔ין (are regarded)

וּֽכְמִצְבְּיֵ֗הּ (and according to His will) עָבֵד֙ (He does)

בְּחֵ֣יל (among the host) שְׁמַיָּ֔א (of heaven the),

וְדָאֲרֵי (and the dwellers) אַרְעָ֑א (of the earth);

וְלָ֤א (and no one) אִיתַי֙ (there is) דִּֽי־ (who) יְמַחֵ֣א (can strike) בִידֵ֔הּ (on His hand),

וְיֵ֥אמַר (or say) לֵ֖הּ (to Him) מָ֥ה (What) עֲבַֽדְתְּ׃ (have You done).

36  בֵּהּ־ (At) זִמְנָ֞א (that time) מַנְדְּעִ֣י׀ (my reason) יְת֣וּב (returned) עֲלַ֗י (to me) וְלִיקַ֨ר (and for the glory) מַלְכוּתִ֜י (of my kingdom), הַדְרִ֤י (my honor) וְזִוִי֙ (and splendor) יְת֣וּב (returned) עֲלַ֔י (to me) וְלִ֕י (and for me) הַדָּֽבְרַ֥י (my counselors) וְרַבְרְבָנַ֖י (and nobles) יְבַע֑וֹן (sought) וְעַל־ (and to) מַלְכוּתִ֣י (my kingdom), הָתְקְנַ֔ת (I was restored) וּרְב֥וּ (and greatness) יַתִּירָ֖ה (surpassing) ה֥וּסְפַת (was added) לִֽי׃ (to me). 37  כְּעַ֞ן (Now) אֲנָ֣ה (I) נְבוּכַדְנֶצַּ֗ר (Nebuchadnezzar) מְשַׁבַּ֨ח (do praise) וּמְרוֹמֵ֤ם (and extol) וּמְהַדַּר֙ (and honor) לְמֶ֣לֶךְ (the King) שְׁמַיָּ֔א (of heaven), דִּ֤י (for whom) כָל־ (all) מַעֲבָד֙וֹהִי֙ (His works) קְשֹׁ֔ט (are true), וְאֹרְחָתֵ֖הּ (and His ways) דִּ֑ין (justice), וְדִי֙ (and those who) מַהְלְכִ֣ין (walk about) בְּגֵוָ֔ה (in pride) יָכִ֖ל (He is able) לְהַשְׁפָּלָֽה׃פ (to bring low).
