1	And the Celebration of the Unleavened [Bread] was coming near, that is called Passover,	Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew near, which is called the Passover.	Now the Festival of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching,
2	and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how they may take Him up, for they were afraid of the people.	And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to put him to death, for they feared the people.	and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people.
3	And Satan entered into Judas, who is surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the Twelve,	Then Satan entered into Judas called Iscariot, who was of the number of the twelve.	Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve.
4	and he, having gone away, spoke with the chief priests and the magistrates, how he might deliver Him up to them,	He went away and conferred with the chief priests and officers how he might betray him to them.	And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus.
5	and they rejoiced, and covenanted to give him money,	And they were glad, and agreed to give him money.	They were delighted and agreed to give him money.
6	and he agreed, and was seeking a favorable season to deliver Him up to them without tumult.	So he consented and sought an opportunity to betray him to them in the absence of a crowd.	He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.
7	And the day of the Unleavened [Bread] came, in which it was necessary [for] the Passover to be sacrificed,	Then came the day of Unleavened Bread, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.	Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.
8	and He sent Peter and John, saying, “Having gone on, prepare to us the Passover, that we may eat”;	So Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat it.”	Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover.”
9	and they said to Him, “Where do You will that we might prepare?”	They said to him, “Where will you have us prepare it?”	“Where do you want us to prepare for it?” they asked.
10	And He said to them, “Behold, in your entering into the city, a man will meet you there, carrying a pitcher of water, follow him into the house where he goes in,	He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him into the house that he enters	He replied, “As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters,
11	and you will say to the master of the house, The Teacher says to you, Where is the guest-chamber where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?	and tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’	and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’
12	And he will show you a large upper room furnished, make ready there”;	And he will show you a large upper room furnished; prepare it there.”	He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.”
13	and they, having gone away, found as He has said to them, and they made the Passover ready.	And they went and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.	They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.
14	And when the hour was come, He reclined, and the twelve apostles with Him,	And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him.	When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table.
15	and He said to them, “With desire I desired to eat this Passover with you before My suffering,	And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.	And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
16	for I say to you that I may eat of it no longer until it may be fulfilled in the Kingdom of God.”	For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”	For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”
17	And having taken a cup, having given thanks, He said, “Take this and divide to yourselves,	And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves.	After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you.
18	for I say to you that I may not drink of the produce of the vine until the Kingdom of God may come.”	For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”	For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19	And having taken bread, having given thanks, He broke and gave to them, saying, “This is My body, that is being given for you, do this in remembrance of Me.”	And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”	And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
20	In like manner, also, the cup after the dining, saying, “This cup [is] the New Covenant in My blood, that is being poured forth for you.	And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.	In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
21	But behold, the hand of him delivering Me up [is] with Me on the table,	But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.	But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.
22	and, indeed, the Son of Man goes according to what has been determined; but woe to that man through whom He is being delivered up.”	For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!”	The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed. But woe to that man who betrays him!”
23	And they began to reason among themselves who then of them it may be who is about to do this thing.	And they began to question one another, which of them it could be who was going to do this.	They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.
24	And there happened also a strife among them—who of them is accounted to be greater.	A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest.	A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest.
25	And He said to them, “The kings of the nations exercise lordship over them, and those exercising authority on them are called benefactors;	And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors.	Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors.
26	but you [are] not so, but he who is greater among you—let him be as the younger; and he who is leading, as he who is ministering;	But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves.	But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.
27	for who is greater? He who is reclining, or he who is ministering? Is it not he who is reclining? And I am in your midst as He who is ministering.	For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves.	For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.
28	And you are those who have remained with Me in My temptations,	“You are those who have stayed with me in my trials,	You are those who have stood by me in my trials.
29	and I appoint to you a kingdom, as My Father appointed to Me,	and I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom,	And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me,
30	that you may eat and may drink at My table, in My kingdom, and may sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”	that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.	so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

32	and I implored for you that your faith may not fail; and you, when you turned, strengthen your brothers.”	but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”	But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
33	And he said to Him, “Lord, I am ready to go with You both to prison and to death”;	Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.”	But he replied, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.”
34	and He said, “I say to you, Peter, a rooster will not crow today, before you may disown knowing Me three times.”	Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”	Jesus answered, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.”
35	And He said to them, “When I sent you without bag, and leather pouch, and sandals, did you lack anything?” And they said, “Nothing.”	And he said to them, “When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”	Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Nothing,” they answered.
36	Then He said to them, “But now, he who is having a bag, let him take [it] up, and in like manner also a leather pouch; and he who is not having, let him sell his garment, and buy a sword,	He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.	He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.
37	for I say to you that this which has been written is necessary to be accomplished in Me: And He was reckoned with lawless ones; for also the things concerning Me have an end.”	For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors.’ For what is written about me has its fulfillment.”	It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.”
38	And they said, “Lord, behold, here [are] two swords”; and He said to them, “It is sufficient.”	And they said, “Look, Lord, here are two swords.” And he said to them, “It is enough.”	The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.” “That’s enough!” he replied.
39	And having gone forth, He went on, according to custom, to the Mount of Olives, and His disciples also followed Him,	And he came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him.	Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him.
40	and having come to the place, He said to them, “Pray to not enter into temptation.”	And when he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”	On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”
41	And He was withdrawn from them, as it were a stone’s cast, and having fallen on the knees He was praying,	And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed,	He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed,
42	saying, “Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me, but not My will, but Yours be done.”	saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”	“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
43	And there appeared to Him a messenger from Heaven strengthening Him;	And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.	An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.
44	and having been in agony, He was more earnestly praying, and His sweat became, as it were, great drops of blood falling on the ground.	And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.	And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
45	And having risen up from the prayer, having come to the disciples, He found them sleeping from the sorrow,	And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow,	When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow.
46	and He said to them, “Why do you sleep? Having risen, pray that you may not enter into temptation.”	and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”	“Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”
47	And while He is speaking, behold, a multitude, and he who is called Judas, one of the Twelve, was coming before them, and he came near to Jesus to kiss Him,	While he was still speaking, there came a crowd, and the man called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He drew near to Jesus to kiss him,	While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him,
48	and Jesus said to him, “Judas, do you deliver up the Son of Man with a kiss?”	but Jesus said to him, “Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”	but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
49	And those around Him, having seen what was about to be, said to Him, “Lord, will we strike with a sword?”	And when those who were around him saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”	When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?”
50	And a certain one of them struck the servant of the chief priest, and took off his right ear,	And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.	And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
51	and Jesus answering said, “Permit thus far,” and having touched his ear, He healed him.	But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him.	But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.
52	And Jesus said to those having come on Him—chief priests, and magistrates of the temple, and elders, “Have you come forth with swords and sticks as on a robber?	Then Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders, who had come out against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?	Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders, who had come for him, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs?
53	While daily I was with you in the temple, you stretched forth no hands against Me; but this is your hour and the power of the darkness.”	When I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”	Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour—when darkness reigns.”
54	And having taken Him, they led and brought Him into the house of the chief priest. And Peter was following far off,	Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest’s house, and Peter was following at a distance.	Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance.
55	and they having kindled a fire in the midst of the court, and having sat down together, Peter was sitting in the midst of them,	And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them.	And when some there had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat down with them.
56	and a certain maid having seen him sitting at the light, and having earnestly looked at him, she said, “And this one was with Him!”	Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.”	A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, “This man was with him.”
57	And he disowned Him, saying, “Woman, I have not known Him.”	But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.”	But he denied it. “Woman, I don’t know him,” he said.
58	And after a while, another having seen him, said, “And you are of them!” And Peter said, “Man, I am not.”	And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.”	A little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” “Man, I am not!” Peter replied.
59	And one hour, as it were, having intervened, a certain other was confidently affirming, saying, “Of a truth this one also was with Him, for he is also a Galilean”;	And after an interval of about an hour still another insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.”	About an hour later another asserted, “Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean.”
60	and Peter said, “Man, I have not known what you say”; and immediately, while he is speaking, a rooster crowed.	But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.	Peter replied, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed.
61	And the LORD, having turned, looked on Peter, and Peter remembered the word of the LORD, how He said to him, “Before a rooster will crow, you may disown Me three times”;	And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.”	The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.”
62	and Peter having gone outside, wept bitterly.	And he went out and wept bitterly.	And he went outside and wept bitterly.
63	And the men who were holding Jesus were mocking Him, beating [Him];	Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking him as they beat him.	The men who were guarding Jesus began mocking and beating him.
64	and having blindfolded Him, they were striking Him on the face, and were questioning Him, saying, “Prophesy who he is who struck You?”	They also blindfolded him and kept asking him, “Prophesy! Who is it that struck you?”	They blindfolded him and demanded, “Prophesy! Who hit you?”
65	And many other things, slandering, they spoke in regard to Him.	And they said many other things against him, blaspheming him.	And they said many other insulting things to him.
66	And when it became day there was gathered together the eldership of the people, chief priests also, and scribes, and they led Him up to their own Sanhedrin,	When day came, the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes. And they led him away to their council, and they said,	At daybreak the council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and the teachers of the law, met together, and Jesus was led before them.
67	saying, “If You are the Christ, tell us.” And He said to them, “If I may tell you, you will not believe;	“If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe,	“If you are the Messiah,” they said, “tell us.” Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe me,
68	and if I also question [you], you will not answer Me or send Me away;	and if I ask you, you will not answer.	and if I asked you, you would not answer.
69	from now on, there will be the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of the power of God.”	But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”	But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”
70	And they all said, “You, then, are the Son of God?” And He said to them, “You say [it], because I AM”;	So they all said, “Are you the Son of God, then?” And he said to them, “You say that I am.”	They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?” He replied, “You say that I am.”
71	and they said, “What need do we have yet of testimony? For we ourselves heard [it] from His mouth.”	Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips.”	Then they said, “Why do we need any more testimony? We have heard it from his own lips.”
