Settle Lawsuits among Believers

1If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the Lord's people?1When one of you has a grievance against another, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints?1Does any one of you, when he has a case against his neighbor, dare to go to law before the unrighteous and not before the saints?1Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?1If any of you has a legal dispute against another, do you dare go to court before the unrighteous, and not before the saints?
2Or do you not know that the Lord's people will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?2Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases?2Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? If the world is judged by you, are you not competent to constitute the smallest law courts?2Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?2Or don't you know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest cases?
3Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life!3Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life!3Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more matters of this life?3Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?3Don't you know that we will judge angels--not to mention ordinary matters?
4Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, do you ask for a ruling from those whose way of life is scorned in the church?4So if you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who have no standing in the church?4So if you have law courts dealing with matters of this life, do you appoint them as judges who are of no account in the church?4If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.4So if you have cases pertaining to this life, do you select those who have no standing in the church to judge?

5I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers?5I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no one among you wise enough to settle a dispute between the brothers,5I say this to your shame. Is it so, that there is not among you one wise man who will be able to decide between his brethren,5I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?5I say this to your shame! Can it be that there is not one wise person among you who is able to arbitrate between his brothers?
6But instead, one brother takes another to court--and this in front of unbelievers!6but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers?6but brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers?6But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.6Instead, believer goes to court against believer, and that before unbelievers!
7The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?7To have lawsuits at all with one another is already a defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded?7Actually, then, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits with one another. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be defrauded?7Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?7Therefore, to have legal disputes against one another is already a moral failure for you. Why not rather put up with injustice? Why not rather be cheated?
8Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters.8But you yourselves wrong and defraud—even your own brothers!8On the contrary, you yourselves wrong and defraud. You do this even to your brethren.8Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.8Instead, you act unjustly and cheat--and you do this to believers!
9Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men who practice homosexuality,9Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals,9Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,9Don't you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God's kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or anyone practicing homosexuality,

10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.10nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.10nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor swindlers, will inherit the kingdom of God.10Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.10no thieves, greedy people, drunkards, verbally abusive people, or swindlers will inherit God's kingdom.
11And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.11And such were some of you. Our Bodies are Members of Christ

12"I have the right to do anything," you say--but not everything is beneficial. "I have the right to do anything"--but I will not be mastered by anything.12“All things are lawful for me,” but not all things are helpful. “All things are lawful for me,” but I will not be dominated by anything.12All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but I will not be mastered by anything.12All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.12Everything is permissible for me," but not everything is helpful. "Everything is permissible for me," but I will not be brought under the control of anything. "
13You say, "Food for the stomach and the stomach for food, and God will destroy them both." The body, however, is not meant for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.13“Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food”—and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.13Food is for the stomach and the stomach is for food, but God will do away with both of them. Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.13Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.13Food for the stomach and the stomach for food," but God will do away with both of them. The body is not for sexual immorality but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
14By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.14And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power.14Now God has not only raised the Lord, but will also raise us up through His power.14And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.14God raised up the Lord and will also raise us up by His power.
15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never!15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take away the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? May it never be!15Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.15Don't you know that your bodies are a part of Christ's body? So should I take a part of Christ's body and make it part of a prostitute? Absolutely not!

16Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh."16Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, “The two will become one flesh.”16Or do you not know that the one who joins himself to a prostitute is one body with her? For He says, "THE TWO SHALL BECOME ONE FLESH."16What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.16Don't you know that anyone joined to a prostitute is one body with her? For Scripture says, The two will become one flesh.
17But whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit.17But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.17But the one who joins himself to the Lord is one spirit with Him.17But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.17But anyone joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.

The Body is a Temple of the Holy Spirit

18Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a person commits are outside the body, but whoever sins sexually, sins against their own body.18Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.18Flee immorality. Every other sin that a man commits is outside the body, but the immoral man sins against his own body.18Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.18Run from sexual immorality! "Every sin a person can commit is outside the body." On the contrary, the person who is sexually immoral sins against his own body.
19Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,19Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?19What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?19Don't you know that your body is a sanctuary of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,
20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.20for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.20For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body.20For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.20for you were bought at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.
