1 Συνίστημι δὲ ὑμῖν Φοίβην τὴν ἀδελφὴν ἡμῶν οὖσαν ‹καὶ› διάκονον τῆς ἐκκλησίας τῆς ἐν Κενχρεαῖς I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a servant of the church at Cenchreae, I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church in Cenchreae.
2 ἵνα αὐτὴν προσδέξησθε ἐν Κυρίῳ ἀξίως τῶν ἁγίων καὶ παραστῆτε αὐτῇ ἐν ᾧ ἂν ὑμῶν χρῄζῃ πράγματι καὶ γὰρ αὐτὴ προστάτις πολλῶν ἐγενήθη καὶ ἐμοῦ αὐτοῦ that you may welcome her in the Lord in a way worthy of the saints, and help her in whatever she may need from you, for she has been a patron of many and of myself as well. I ask you to receive her in the Lord in a way worthy of his people and to give her any help she may need from you, for she has been the benefactor of many people, including me.
3 Ἀσπάσασθε Πρίσκαν καὶ Ἀκύλαν τοὺς συνεργούς μου ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ Greet Prisca and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, Greet Priscilla and Aquila, my co-workers in Christ Jesus.
4 οἵτινες ὑπὲρ τῆς ψυχῆς μου τὸν ἑαυτῶν τράχηλον ὑπέθηκαν οἷς οὐκ ἐγὼ μόνος εὐχαριστῶ ἀλλὰ καὶ πᾶσαι αἱ ἐκκλησίαι τῶν ἐθνῶν who risked their necks for my life, to whom not only I give thanks but all the churches of the Gentiles give thanks as well. They risked their lives for me. Not only I but all the churches of the Gentiles are grateful to them.
5 καὶ τὴν κατ’ οἶκον αὐτῶν ἐκκλησίαν Ἀσπάσασθε Ἐπαίνετον τὸν ἀγαπητόν μου ὅς ἐστιν ἀπαρχὴ τῆς Ἀσίας εἰς Χριστόν Greet also the church in their house. Greet my beloved Epaenetus, who was the first convert to Christ in Asia. Greet also the church that meets at their house. Greet my dear friend Epenetus, who was the first convert to Christ in the province of Asia.
6 Ἀσπάσασθε Μαριάν ἥτις πολλὰ ἐκοπίασεν εἰς ὑμᾶς Greet Mary, who has worked hard for you. Greet Mary, who worked very hard for you.
7 Ἀσπάσασθε Ἀνδρόνικον καὶ Ἰουνίαν τοὺς συγγενεῖς μου καὶ συναιχμαλώτους μου οἵτινές εἰσιν ἐπίσημοι ἐν τοῖς ἀποστόλοις οἳ καὶ πρὸ ἐμοῦ γέγοναν ἐν Χριστῷ Greet Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen and my fellow prisoners. They are well known to the apostles, and they were in Christ before me. Greet Andronicus and Junia, my fellow Jews who have been in prison with me. They are outstanding among the apostles, and they were in Christ before I was.
8 Ἀσπάσασθε Ἀμπλιᾶτον τὸν ἀγαπητόν μου ἐν Κυρίῳ Greet Ampliatus, my beloved in the Lord. Greet Ampliatus, my dear friend in the Lord.
9 Ἀσπάσασθε Οὐρβανὸν τὸν συνεργὸν ἡμῶν ἐν Χριστῷ καὶ Στάχυν τὸν ἀγαπητόν μου Greet Urbanus, our fellow worker in Christ, and my beloved Stachys. Greet Urbanus, our co-worker in Christ, and my dear friend Stachys.
10 Ἀσπάσασθε Ἀπελλῆν τὸν δόκιμον ἐν Χριστῷ Ἀσπάσασθε τοὺς ἐκ τῶν Ἀριστοβούλου Greet Apelles, who is approved in Christ. Greet those who belong to the family of Aristobulus. Greet Apelles, whose fidelity to Christ has stood the test. Greet those who belong to the household of Aristobulus.
11 Ἀσπάσασθε Ἡρῳδίωνα τὸν συγγενῆ μου Ἀσπάσασθε τοὺς ἐκ τῶν Ναρκίσσου τοὺς ὄντας ἐν Κυρίῳ Greet my kinsman Herodion. Greet those in the Lord who belong to the family of Narcissus. Greet Herodion, my fellow Jew. Greet those in the household of Narcissus who are in the Lord.
12 Ἀσπάσασθε Τρύφαιναν καὶ Τρυφῶσαν τὰς κοπιώσας ἐν Κυρίῳ Ἀσπάσασθε Περσίδα τὴν ἀγαπητήν ἥτις πολλὰ ἐκοπίασεν ἐν Κυρίῳ Greet those workers in the Lord, Tryphaena and Tryphosa. Greet the beloved Persis, who has worked hard in the Lord. Greet Tryphena and Tryphosa, those women who work hard in the Lord. Greet my dear friend Persis, another woman who has worked very hard in the Lord.
13 Ἀσπάσασθε Ῥοῦφον τὸν ἐκλεκτὸν ἐν Κυρίῳ καὶ τὴν μητέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐμοῦ Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord; also his mother, who has been a mother to me as well. Greet Rufus, chosen in the Lord, and his mother, who has been a mother to me, too.
14 Ἀσπάσασθε Ἀσύνκριτον Φλέγοντα Ἑρμῆν Πατρόβαν Ἑρμᾶν καὶ τοὺς σὺν αὐτοῖς ἀδελφούς Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and the brothers who are with them. Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas and the other brothers and sisters with them.
15 Ἀσπάσασθε Φιλόλογον καὶ Ἰουλίαν Νηρέα καὶ τὴν ἀδελφὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ Ὀλυμπᾶν καὶ τοὺς σὺν αὐτοῖς πάντας ἁγίους Greet Philologus, Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints who are with them. Greet Philologus, Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas and all the Lord’s people who are with them.
16 Ἀσπάσασθε ἀλλήλους ἐν φιλήματι ἁγίῳ Ἀσπάζονται ὑμᾶς αἱ ἐκκλησίαι πᾶσαι τοῦ Χριστοῦ Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ send greetings.
17 Παρακαλῶ δὲ ὑμᾶς ἀδελφοί σκοπεῖν τοὺς τὰς διχοστασίας καὶ τὰ σκάνδαλα παρὰ τὴν διδαχὴν ἣν ὑμεῖς ἐμάθετε ποιοῦντας καὶ ἐκκλίνετε ἀπ’ αὐτῶν I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. I urge you, brothers and sisters, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.
18 οἱ γὰρ τοιοῦτοι τῷ Κυρίῳ ἡμῶν Χριστῷ οὐ δουλεύουσιν ἀλλὰ τῇ ἑαυτῶν κοιλίᾳ καὶ διὰ τῆς χρηστολογίας καὶ εὐλογίας ἐξαπατῶσιν τὰς καρδίας τῶν ἀκάκων For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people.
19 Ἡ γὰρ ὑμῶν ὑπακοὴ εἰς πάντας ἀφίκετο ἐφ’ ὑμῖν οὖν χαίρω θέλω δὲ ὑμᾶς σοφοὺς (μὲν) εἶναι εἰς τὸ ἀγαθόν ἀκεραίους δὲ εἰς τὸ κακόν For your obedience is known to all, so that I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise as to what is good and innocent as to what is evil. Everyone has heard about your obedience, so I rejoice because of you; but I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil.
20 Ὁ δὲ Θεὸς τῆς εἰρήνης συντρίψει τὸν Σατανᾶν ὑπὸ τοὺς πόδας ὑμῶν ἐν τάχει Ἡ χάρις τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ ‹Χριστοῦ› μεθ’ ὑμῶν The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.
21 Ἀσπάζεται ὑμᾶς Τιμόθεος ὁ συνεργός μου καὶ Λούκιος καὶ Ἰάσων καὶ Σωσίπατρος οἱ συγγενεῖς μου Timothy, my fellow worker, greets you; so do Lucius and Jason and Sosipater, my kinsmen. Timothy, my co-worker, sends his greetings to you, as do Lucius, Jason and Sosipater, my fellow Jews.
22 Ἀσπάζομαι ὑμᾶς ἐγὼ Τέρτιος ὁ γράψας τὴν ἐπιστολὴν ἐν Κυρίῳ I Tertius, who wrote this letter, greet you in the Lord. I, Tertius, who wrote down this letter, greet you in the Lord.
23 Ἀσπάζεται ὑμᾶς Γάϊος ὁ ξένος μου καὶ ὅλης τῆς ἐκκλησίας Ἀσπάζεται ὑμᾶς Ἔραστος ὁ οἰκονόμος τῆς πόλεως καὶ Κούαρτος ὁ ἀδελφός Gaius, who is host to me and to the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the city treasurer, and our brother Quartus, greet you. Gaius, whose hospitality I and the whole church here enjoy, sends you his greetings. Erastus, who is the city’s director of public works, and our brother Quartus send you their greetings.
24 ‹Ἡ χάρις τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ μετὰ πάντων ὑμῶν Ἀμήν›
25 Τῷ δὲ δυναμένῳ ὑμᾶς στηρίξαι κατὰ τὸ εὐαγγέλιόν μου καὶ τὸ κήρυγμα Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ κατὰ ἀποκάλυψιν μυστηρίου χρόνοις αἰωνίοις σεσιγημένου Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery that was kept secret for long ages Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past,
26 φανερωθέντος δὲ νῦν διά τε γραφῶν προφητικῶν κατ’ ἐπιταγὴν τοῦ αἰωνίου Θεοῦ εἰς ὑπακοὴν πίστεως εἰς πάντα τὰ ἔθνη γνωρισθέντος but has now been disclosed and through the prophetic writings has been made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God, to bring about the obedience of faith— but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith—
27 μόνῳ σοφῷ Θεῷ διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ ᾧ ἡ δόξα εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας 〈τῶν αἰώνων〉 ἀμήν to the only wise God be glory forevermore through Jesus Christ! Amen. to the only wise God be glory forever through Jesus Christ! Amen.
