2	And the chief priests and scribes were seeking how they might kill Him; for they feared the people. 4	And having gone away, he spoke with the chief priests and the magistrates, how he might betray Him to them. He said to them, “Behold, when you have entered the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. 11	And say to the landlord, The Teacher says to thee, Where is the guest-chamber, where I may eat the passover with my disciples?	and tell the master of the house, ‘The Teacher says to you, Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’	and say to the owner of the house, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?’
12	And he will show you a large upper room furnished: there prepare.	And he will show you a large upper room furnished; prepare it there.”	He will show you a large room upstairs, all furnished. Make preparations there.”
13	And having gone away, they found as He told them; and prepared the passover.	And they went and found it just as he had told them, and they prepared the Passover.	They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.
14	And when the hour arrived, He sat down and the apostles along with Him.	And when the hour came, he reclined at table, and the apostles with him.	When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table.
15	And He said to them, I desired with desire to eat this passover with you before I suffer: for I say to you,	And he said to them, “I have earnestly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.	And he said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
16	I eat this no more, until it may be fulfilled in the kingdom of God.	For I tell you I will not eat it until it is fulfilled in the kingdom of God.”	For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God.”
17	And receiving the cup, having given thanks, He said, Take this, and divide it among yourselves;	And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, “Take this, and divide it among yourselves.	After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you.
18	for I say to you, I shall from now drink no more from the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God may come.	For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”	For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.”
19	And taking bread, blessing it, He broke it, and gave it to them, saying, This is my body given for you: do this in remembrance of me.	And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”	And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
20	Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out in your behalf.	And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.	In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
21	Moreover behold, the hand of the one betraying me is with me at the table.	But behold, the hand of him who betrays me is with me on the table.	But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.
22	Indeed the Son of man goes, according to that which has been appointed: but woe to that man by whom He is betrayed!	For the Son of Man goes as it has been determined, but woe to that man by whom he is betrayed!”	The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed. But woe to that man who betrays him!”
23	And they began to inquire among themselves, who then of them is the one of them about to do this.	And they began to question one another, which of them it could be who was going to do this.	They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.
24	And there was a contention among them, which one of them seems to be the greater,	A dispute also arose among them, as to which of them was to be regarded as the greatest.	A dispute also arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest.
25	And He said to them, The kings of the Gentiles domineer over them; and those exercising authority over them are called Benefactors.	And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors.	Jesus said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors.
26	But you are not thus: but let the greater among you be as the younger; and the leader as the waiter.	But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves.	But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.
27	For which is the greater, he that sitteth at the table, or the waiter? is not the one sitting? but I am in the midst of you as the waiter.	For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves.	For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.
28	But you are those who have remained with me in my temptations.	“You are those who have stayed with me in my trials,	You are those who have stood by me in my trials.
29	And I appoint unto you a kingdom, as my Father appointed unto me,	and I assign to you, as my Father assigned to me, a kingdom,	And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me,
30	in order that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom; and you shall sit upon thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.	that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.	so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

32	but I prayed for you, that your faith may not fail you: and thou, when having turned, strengthen thy brethren:	but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned again, strengthen your brothers.”	But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
33	but he said to Him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee to prison and to death.	Peter said to him, “Lord, I am ready to go with you both to prison and to death.”	But he replied, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.”
34	And He said; I say unto thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.	Jesus said, “I tell you, Peter, the rooster will not crow this day, until you deny three times that you know me.”	Jesus answered, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.”
35	Then He said to them, When I sent you without purse, and valise, and sandals, did you lack anything? And they said; Nothing.	And he said to them, “When I sent you out with no moneybag or knapsack or sandals, did you lack anything?” They said, “Nothing.”	Then Jesus asked them, “When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?” “Nothing,” they answered.
36	And He said to them; But now, let the one having a purse, take it, likewise also valise: and let the one having no sword, sell his cloak and buy one.	He said to them, “But now let the one who has a moneybag take it, and likewise a knapsack. And let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one.	He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.
37	For I say unto you, that it behooves that which has been written to be perfected in me, this, And He was numbered with the transgressors: for indeed that which is concerning me has an end.	For I tell you that this Scripture must be fulfilled in me: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors.’ For what is written about me has its fulfillment.”	It is written: ‘And he was numbered with the transgressors’; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment.”
38	And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And He said to them, It is sufficient.	And they said, “Look, Lord, here are two swords.” And he said to them, “It is enough.”	The disciples said, “See, Lord, here are two swords.” “That’s enough!” he replied.
39	And having gone out, He departed, according to custom, into the Mount of Olives; and His disciples followed Him.	And he came out and went, as was his custom, to the Mount of Olives, and the disciples followed him.	Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him.
40	He being at the place, He said to them, Pray that you enter not into temptation.	And when he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.”	On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”
41	And He was separated from them about a stone's cast; and putting down His knees, continued to pray,	And he withdrew from them about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed,	He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed,
42	saying, Father, if this cup is willing to pass from me; moreover let not my will, but thine be done.	saying, “Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”	“Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.”
43	And an angel from heaven appeared unto Him, strengthening Him.	And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.	An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.
44	And being in agony He continued to pray the more earnestly. And His sweat was like drops of blood falling down upon the ground.	And being in agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.	And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
45	And having risen from prayer, having come to His disciples, He found them sleeping on account of weariness,	And when he rose from prayer, he came to the disciples and found them sleeping for sorrow,	When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow.
46	and He said to them, Why do you sleep? Arising pray, that you may not enter into temptation.	and he said to them, “Why are you sleeping? Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation.”	“Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”
47	And He still speaking, behold, a multitude and the one called Judas, one of the twelve, was coming before them; and he drew near to Jesus to kiss Him.	While he was still speaking, there came a crowd, and the man called Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them. He drew near to Jesus to kiss him,	While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him,
48	And Jesus said to him, Judas, do you betray the Son of man with a kiss?	but Jesus said to him, “Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”	but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”
49	And those around Him seeing what was coming on Him, said, Lord, shall we smite with the sword?	And when those who were around him saw what would follow, they said, “Lord, shall we strike with the sword?”	When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we strike with our swords?”
50	And one of them smote the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear.	And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.	And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
51	And Jesus responding said, Hold on until this: and touching his ear, healed him.	But Jesus said, “No more of this!” And he touched his ear and healed him.	But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.
52	Jesus said to the high priests, and magistrates of the temple, and elders who were assembled to Him; You have come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs.	Then Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders, who had come out against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?	Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders, who had come for him, “Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs?
53	I being daily with you in the temple, you reached not out your hands unto me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.	When I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.”	Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour—when darkness reigns.”
54	And taking Him, they led Him away, and led Him into the house of the chief priest. And Peter followed Him a long way off.	Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest’s house, and Peter was following at a distance.	Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance.
55	And having lighted a fire in the midst of the court, and they sitting together, Peter was sitting in the midst of them.	And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them.	And when some there had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat down with them.
56	And a certain maidservant, seeing him sitting at the fire, and fixing her eyes on him, said, This man was with Him.	Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.”	A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, “This man was with him.”
57	And he denied Him, saying, Woman, I know Him not.	But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.”	But he denied it. “Woman, I don’t know him,” he said.
58	And after a brief interval another seeing him, said, Truly, thou art one of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.	And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not.”	A little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” “Man, I am not!” Peter replied.
59	And about one hour having elapsed, a certain other man accosted him, saying, He was truly with Him: for he is a Galilean.	And after an interval of about an hour still another insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.”	About an hour later another asserted, “Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean.”
60	And Peter said, Man, I know Him not. And immediately, he yet speaking, the cock crew.	But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed.	Peter replied, “Man, I don’t know what you’re talking about!” Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed.
61	And the Lord turning, looked upon Peter; and Peter remembered the word of the Lord, how He said to him, that, Before the cock shall crow thou shalt deny me thrice.	And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.”	The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: “Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times.”
62	And having gone out, he wept bitterly.	And he went out and wept bitterly.	And he went outside and wept bitterly.
63	And the men having Him, began to mock, beating Him,	Now the men who were holding Jesus in custody were mocking him as they beat him.	The men who were guarding Jesus began mocking and beating him.
64	and covering Him, they continued to ask saying, Prophesy, who is the one smiting thee.	They also blindfolded him and kept asking him, “Prophesy! Who is it that struck you?”	They blindfolded him and demanded, “Prophesy! Who hit you?”
65	And blaspheming, they continued to speak many other things against Him.	And they said many other things against him, blaspheming him.	And they said many other insulting things to him.
66	And when it was day, the eldership of the people was convened, and the chief priests and scribes, and they led Him into their sanhedrim.	When day came, the assembly of the elders of the people gathered together, both chief priests and scribes. And they led him away to their council, and they said,	At daybreak the council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and the teachers of the law, met together, and Jesus was led before them.
67	Saying, If thou art the Christ, tell us. And He said to them, If I may tell you, you will not believe:	“If you are the Christ, tell us.” But he said to them, “If I tell you, you will not believe,	“If you are the Messiah,” they said, “tell us.” Jesus answered, “If I tell you, you will not believe me,
68	and if indeed I will ask you, you will not respond to me, or release me.	and if I ask you, you will not answer.	and if I asked you, you would not answer.
69	And from now the Son of man shall be sitting on the right hand of the power of God.	But from now on the Son of Man shall be seated at the right hand of the power of God.”	But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God.”
70	And all said, Art thou the Son of God? And He said to them, You say that I am.	So they all said, “Are you the Son of God, then?” And he said to them, “You say that I am.”	They all asked, “Are you then the Son of God?” He replied, “You say that I am.”
71	And they said, Why have we yet need of testimony? for we heard from His own mouth.	Then they said, “What further testimony do we need? We have heard it ourselves from his own lips.”	Then they said, “Why do we need any more testimony? We have heard it from his own lips.”
