| 1 | לַ֭מְנַצֵּחַ עַל־ אַיֶּ֥לֶת הַשַּׁ֗חַר מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִֽד׃ אֵלִ֣י אֵ֭לִי לָמָ֣ה עֲזַבְתָּ֑נִי רָח֥וֹק מִֽ֝ישׁוּעָתִ֗י דִּבְרֵ֥י שַׁאֲגָתִֽי׃ | My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning? | For the director of music. To the tune of “The Doe of the Morning.” A psalm of David. My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? | 2 | אֱֽלֹהַ֗י אֶקְרָ֣א י֭וֹמָם וְלֹ֣א תַעֲנֶ֑ה וְ֝לַ֗יְלָה וְֽלֹא־ דֽוּמִיָּ֥ה לִֽי׃ | O my God, I cry by day, but you do not answer, and by night, but I find no rest. | My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest. | |

| 13 | פָּצ֣וּ עָלַ֣י פִּיהֶ֑ם אַ֝רְיֵ֗ה טֹרֵ֥ף וְשֹׁאֵֽג׃ | they open wide their mouths at me, like a ravening and roaring lion. | Roaring lions that tear their prey open their mouths wide against me. | |
| 14 | כַּמַּ֥יִם נִשְׁפַּכְתִּי֮ וְהִתְפָּֽרְד֗וּ כָּֽל־ עַצְמ֫וֹתָ֥י הָיָ֣ה לִ֭בִּי כַּדּוֹנָ֑ג נָ֝מֵ֗ס בְּת֣וֹךְ מֵעָֽי׃ | I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint; my heart is like wax; it is melted within my breast; | I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint. | 15 | יָ֘בֵ֤שׁ כַּחֶ֨רֶשׂ ׀ כֹּחִ֗י וּ֭לְשׁוֹנִי מֻדְבָּ֣ק מַלְקוֹחָ֑י וְֽלַעֲפַר־ מָ֥וֶת תִּשְׁפְּתֵֽנִי׃ | my strength is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to my jaws; you lay me in the dust of death. | My mouth is dried up like a potsherd, and my tongue sticks to the roof of my mouth; you lay me in the dust of death. | |
| 16 | כִּ֥י סְבָב֗וּנִי כְּלָ֫בִ֥ים עֲדַ֣ת מְ֭רֵעִים הִקִּיפ֑וּנִי כָּ֝אֲרִ֗י יָדַ֥י וְרַגְלָֽי׃ | For dogs encompass me; a company of evildoers encircles me; they have pierced my hands and feet— | Dogs surround me, a pack of villains encircles me; they pierce my hands and my feet. | |
| 17 | אֲסַפֵּ֥ר כָּל־ עַצְמוֹתָ֑י הֵ֥מָּה יַ֝בִּ֗יטוּ יִרְאוּ־ בִֽי׃ | I can count all my bones— they stare and gloat over me; | All my bones are on display; people stare and gloat over me. | |
| 18 | יְחַלְּק֣וּ בְגָדַ֣י לָהֶ֑ם וְעַל־ לְ֝בוּשִׁ֗י יַפִּ֥ילוּ גוֹרָֽל׃ | they divide my garments among them, and for my clothing they cast lots. | They divide my clothes among them and cast lots for my garment. | |
| 19 | וְאַתָּ֣ה יְ֭הוָה אַל־ תִּרְחָ֑ק אֱ֝יָלוּתִ֗י לְעֶזְרָ֥תִי חֽוּשָׁה׃ | But you, O LORD, do not be far off! O you my help, come quickly to my aid! | But you, LORD, do not be far from me. You are my strength; come quickly to help me. | |
| 20 | הַצִּ֣ילָה מֵחֶ֣רֶב נַפְשִׁ֑י מִיַּד־ כֶּ֝֗לֶב יְחִידָתִֽי׃ | Deliver my soul from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dog! | Deliver me from the sword, my precious life from the power of the dogs. | |
| 21 | ה֭וֹשִׁיעֵנִי מִפִּ֣י אַרְיֵ֑ה וּמִקַּרְנֵ֖י רֵמִ֣ים עֲנִיתָֽנִי׃ | Save me from the mouth of the lion! You have rescued me from the horns of the wild oxen! | Rescue me from the mouth of the lions; save me from the horns of the wild oxen. | |
| 22 | אֲסַפְּרָ֣ה שִׁמְךָ֣ לְאֶחָ֑י בְּת֖וֹךְ קָהָ֣ל אֲהַלְלֶֽךָּ׃ | I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will praise you: | I will declare your name to my people; in the assembly I will praise you. | |
| 23 | יִרְאֵ֤י יְהוָ֨ה ׀ הַֽלְל֗וּהוּ כָּל־ זֶ֣רַע יַעֲקֹ֣ב כַּבְּד֑וּהוּ וְג֥וּרוּ מִ֝מֶּ֗נּוּ כָּל־ זֶ֥רַע יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ | You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you offspring of Jacob, glorify him, and stand in awe of him, all you offspring of Israel! | You who fear the LORD, praise him! All you descendants of Jacob, honor him! Revere him, all you descendants of Israel! | |
| 24 | כִּ֤י לֹֽא־ בָזָ֨ה וְלֹ֪א שִׁקַּ֡ץ עֱנ֬וּת עָנִ֗י וְלֹא־ הִסְתִּ֣יר פָּנָ֣יו מִמֶּ֑נּוּ וּֽבְשַׁוְּע֖וֹ אֵלָ֣יו שָׁמֵֽעַ׃ | For he has not despised or abhorred the affliction of the afflicted, and he has not hidden his face from him, but has heard, when he cried to him. | For he has not despised or scorned the suffering of the afflicted one; he has not hidden his face from him but has listened to his cry for help. | |
| 25 | מֵ֥אִתְּךָ֗ תְֽהִלָּ֫תִ֥י בְּקָהָ֥ל רָ֑ב נְדָרַ֥י אֲ֝שַׁלֵּ֗ם נֶ֣גֶד יְרֵאָֽיו׃ | From you comes my praise in the great congregation; my vows I will perform before those who fear him. | From you comes the theme of my praise in the great assembly; before those who fear you I will fulfill my vows. | |
| 26 | יֹאכְל֬וּ עֲנָוִ֨ים ׀ וְיִשְׂבָּ֗עוּ יְהַֽלְל֣וּ יְ֭הוָה דֹּ֣רְשָׁ֑יו יְחִ֖י לְבַבְכֶ֣ם לָעַֽד׃ | The afflicted shall eat and be satisfied; those who seek him shall praise the LORD! May your hearts live forever! | The poor will eat and be satisfied; those who seek the LORD will praise him— may your hearts live forever! | |
| 27 | יִזְכְּר֤וּ ׀ וְיָשֻׁ֣בוּ אֶל־ יְ֭הוָה כָּל־ אַפְסֵי־ אָ֑רֶץ וְיִֽשְׁתַּחֲו֥וּ לְ֝פָנֶ֗יךָ כָּֽל־ מִשְׁפְּח֥וֹת גּוֹיִֽם׃ | All the ends of the earth shall remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations shall worship before you. | All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the LORD, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, | |
| 28 | כִּ֣י לַ֭יהוָה הַמְּלוּכָ֑ה וּ֝מֹשֵׁ֗ל בַּגּוֹיִֽם׃ | For kingship belongs to the LORD, and he rules over the nations. | for dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations. | |
| 29 | אָכְל֬וּ וַיִּֽשְׁתַּחֲוּ֨וּ ׀ כָּֽל־ דִּשְׁנֵי־ אֶ֗רֶץ לְפָנָ֣יו יִ֭כְרְעוּ כָּל־ יוֹרְדֵ֣י עָפָ֑ר וְ֝נַפְשׁ֗וֹ לֹ֣א חִיָּֽה׃ | All the prosperous of the earth eat and worship; before him shall bow all who go down to the dust, even the one who could not keep himself alive. | All the rich of the earth will feast and worship; all who go down to the dust will kneel before him— those who cannot keep themselves alive. | |
| 30 | זֶ֥רַע יַֽעַבְדֶ֑נּוּ יְסֻפַּ֖ר לַֽאדֹנָ֣י לַדּֽוֹר׃ | Posterity shall serve him; it shall be told of the Lord to the coming generation; | Posterity will serve him; future generations will be told about the Lord. | |
| 31 | יָ֭בֹאוּ וְיַגִּ֣ידוּ צִדְקָת֑וֹ לְעַ֥ם נ֝וֹלָ֗ד כִּ֣י עָשָֽׂה׃ | they shall come and proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn, that he has done it. | They will proclaim his righteousness, declaring to a people yet unborn: He has done it! | |
