1 Now this is what the LORD says— He who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine! But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called <i>thee</i> by thy name; thou <i>art</i> mine. But now, this is what the LORD says, <i>He who is</i> your Creator, Jacob, And He who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are Mine! 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you go through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched; the flames will not set you ablaze. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you. When thou passest through the waters, I <i>will be</i> with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee. “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.
3 For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. 4 Because you are precious and honored in My sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you and nations in place of your life. Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life. “Since you are precious in My sight, <i>Since</i> you are honored and I love you, I will give <i>other</i> people in your place and <i>other</i> nations in exchange for your life. Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life.
5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east and gather you from the west. Fear not, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, and from the west I will gather you. Fear not: for I <i>am</i> with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; “Do not fear, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east, And gather you from the west. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west.
6 I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back!’ Bring My sons from afar, and My daughters from the ends of the earth— I will say to the north, Give up, and to the south, Do not withhold; bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth, I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; “I will say to the north, ‘Give <i>them</i> up!’ And to the south, ‘Do not hold <i>them</i> back.’ Bring My sons from afar And My daughters from the ends of the earth, I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth—

8 Bring out a people who have eyes but are blind, and who have ears but are deaf. Bring out the people who are blind, yet have eyes, who are deaf, yet have ears! Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears. Bring out the people who are blind, even though they have eyes, And those who are deaf, even though they have ears. Lead out those who have eyes but are blind, who have ears but are deaf.
9 All the nations gather together and the peoples assemble. Who among them can declare this, and proclaim to us the former things? Let them present their witnesses to vindicate them, so that others may hear and say, “It is true.” All the nations gather together, and the peoples assemble. Who among them can declare this, and show us the former things? Let them bring their witnesses to prove them right, and let them hear and say, It is true. All the nations have gathered together So that the peoples may be assembled. Who among them can declare this And proclaim to us the former things? Let them present their witnesses so that they may be justified, Or let them hear and say, “It is true.” All the nations gather together and the peoples assemble. Which of their gods foretold this and proclaimed to us the former things? Let them bring in their witnesses to prove they were right, so that others may hear and say, “It is true.”
10 “You are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may consider and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me no god was formed, and after Me none will come. “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me. Ye <i>are</i> my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I <i>am</i> he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. “You are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “And My servant whom I have chosen, So that you may know and believe Me And understand that I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, And there will be none after Me. “You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe me and understand that I am he. 11 I, yes I, am the LORD, and there is no Savior but Me. I, I am the LORD, and besides me there is no savior. I, even I, am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.
12 I alone decreed and saved and proclaimed— I, and not some foreign god among you. So you are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God. I declared and saved and proclaimed, when there was no strange god among you; and you are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and I am God. I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when <i>there was</i> no strange <i>god</i> among you: therefore ye <i>are</i> my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I <i>am</i> God. “It is I who have declared and saved and proclaimed, And there was no strange <i>god</i> among you; So you are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “And I am God. I have revealed and saved and proclaimed— I, and not some foreign god among you. You are my witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God.
13 Even from eternity I am He, and none can deliver out of My hand. When I act, who can reverse it?” Also henceforth I am he; there is none who can deliver from my hand; I work, and who can turn it back?” Yea, before the day <i>was</i> I <i>am</i> he; and <i>there is</i> none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it? “Even from eternity I am He, And there is no one who can rescue from My hand; I act, and who can reverse it?” Yes, and from ancient days I am he. No one can deliver out of my hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”
14 Thus says the LORD your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake, I will send to Babylon and bring them all as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships in which they rejoice. Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake I send to Babylon and bring them all down as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships in which they rejoice. Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry <i>is</i> in the ships. This is what the LORD your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel says: “For your sake I have sent to Babylon, And will bring them all down as fugitives, Even the Chaldeans, into the ships over which they rejoice. This is what the LORD says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake I will send to Babylon and bring down as fugitives all the Babylonians, in the ships in which they took pride.

16 Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea and a path through the surging waters, Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea, a path in the mighty waters, Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters; This is what the LORD says, <i>He</i> who makes a way through the sea And a path through the mighty waters, This is what the LORD says— he who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters,
17 who brings out the chariots and horses, the armies and warriors together, to lie down, never to rise again; to be extinguished, snuffed out like a wick: who brings forth chariot and horse, army and warrior; they lie down, they cannot rise, they are extinguished, quenched like a wick: Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow. Who brings out the chariot and the horse, The army and the mighty man (They will lie down together <i>and</i> not rise again; They have been extinguished, <i>and</i> have gone out like a wick): who drew out the chariots and horses, the army and reinforcements together, and they lay there, never to rise again, extinguished, snuffed out like a wick:
18 “Do not call to mind the former things; pay no attention to the things of old. “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. “Do not call to mind the former things, Or consider things of the past. “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.
19 Behold, I am about to do something new; even now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness and streams in the desert. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, <i>and</i> rivers in the desert. “Behold, I am going to do something new, Now it will spring up; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
20 The beasts of the field will honor Me, the jackals and the ostriches, because I provide water in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, to give drink to My chosen people. The wild beasts will honor me, the jackals and the ostriches, for I give water in the wilderness, rivers in the desert, to give drink to my chosen people, The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, <i>and</i> rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen. “The animals of the field will glorify Me, The jackals and the ostriches, Because I have given waters in the wilderness And rivers in the desert, To give drink to My chosen people. 21 The people I formed for Myself will declare My praise. the people whom I formed for myself that they might declare my praise. 22 But you have not called on Me, O Jacob, because you have grown weary of Me, O Israel. “Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of me, O Israel! But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel. “Yet you have not called on Me, Jacob; But you have become weary of Me, Israel. “Yet you have not called on me, Jacob, you have not wearied yourselves for me, Israel.
23 You have not brought Me sheep for burnt offerings, nor honored Me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, nor wearied you with frankincense. You have not brought me your sheep for burnt offerings, or honored me with your sacrifices. I have not burdened you with offerings, or wearied you with frankincense. Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense. “You have not brought to Me the sheep of your burnt offerings, Nor have you honored Me with your sacrifices. 24 You have not bought Me sweet cane with your silver, nor satisfied Me with the fat of your sacrifices. But you have burdened Me with your sins; you have wearied Me with your iniquities. You have not bought me sweet cane with money, or satisfied me with the fat of your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins; you have wearied me with your iniquities. Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities. “You have not bought Me sweet cane with money, Nor have you satisfied Me with the fat of your sacrifices; Rather, you have burdened Me with your sins, You have wearied Me with your wrongdoings. You have not bought any fragrant calamus for me, or lavished on me the fat of your sacrifices. But you have burdened me with your sins and wearied me with your offenses.
25 I, yes I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake and remembers your sins no more. “I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins. I, <i>even</i> I, <i>am</i> he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins. “I, I <i>alone,</i> am the one who wipes out your wrongdoings for My own sake, And I will not remember your sins. “I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions, for my own sake, and remembers your sins no more.
26 Remind Me, let us argue the matter together. State your case, so that you may be vindicated. Put me in remembrance; let us argue together; set forth your case, that you may be proved right. Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified. “Meet Me in court, let’s argue our case together; State your <i>cause,</i> so that you may be proved right. Review the past for me, let us argue the matter together; state the case for your innocence.
27 Your first father sinned, and your spokesmen rebelled against Me. Your first father sinned, and your mediators transgressed against me. Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me. “Your first forefather sinned, And your spokesmen have rebelled against Me. Your first father sinned; those I sent to teach you rebelled against me.
28 So I will disgrace the princes of your sanctuary, and I will devote Jacob to destruction and Israel to reproach.” Therefore I will profane the princes of the sanctuary, and deliver Jacob to utter destruction and Israel to reviling. Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches. “So I will profane the officials of the sanctuary, And I will turn Jacob over to destruction and Israel to abuse. So I disgraced the dignitaries of your temple; I consigned Jacob to destruction and Israel to scorn.
