Children and Parents
(Deuteronomy 6:20-25)
1Τὰ (-) τέκνα (Children), ὑπακούετε (obey) τοῖς (the) γονεῦσιν (parents) ὑμῶν (of you) ἐν (in) Κυρίῳ (the Lord); τοῦτο (this) γάρ (for) ἐστιν (is) δίκαιον (right).
2“Τίμα (Honor) τὸν (the) πατέρα (Father) σου (of you) καὶ (and) τὴν (-) μητέρα (mother),” ἥτις (which) ἐστὶν (is) ἐντολὴ (the commandment) πρώτη (first) ἐν (with) ἐπαγγελίᾳ (a promise),
3“Ἵνα (that) εὖ (well) σοι (with you) γένηται (it may be), καὶ (and) ἔσῃ (you will be) μακροχρόνιος (long-lived) ἐπὶ (upon) τῆς (the) γῆς (earth).”a
4Καὶ (And) οἱ (-) πατέρες (fathers), μὴ (not) παροργίζετε (provoke) τὰ (the) τέκνα (children) ὑμῶν (of you), ἀλλὰ (but) ἐκτρέφετε (bring up) αὐτὰ (them) ἐν (in) παιδείᾳ (the discipline) καὶ (and) νουθεσίᾳ (admonition) Κυρίου (of the Lord).

5Οἱ (-) δοῦλοι (Slaves), ὑπακούετε (obey) τοῖς (the) κατὰ (according to) σάρκα (flesh) κυρίοις (masters) μετὰ (with) φόβου (fear) καὶ (and) τρόμου (trembling), ἐν (in) ἁπλότητι (sincerity) τῆς (of the) καρδίας (heart) ὑμῶν (of you), ὡς (as) τῷ (to) Χριστῷ (Christ),
6μὴ (not) κατ’ (with) ὀφθαλμοδουλίαν (eye-service) ὡς (as) ἀνθρωπάρεσκοι (men-pleasers), ἀλλ’ (but) ὡς (as) δοῦλοι (servants of) Χριστοῦ (Christ), ποιοῦντες (doing) τὸ (the) θέλημα (will) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God) ἐκ (from) ψυχῆς (the heart),
7μετ’ (with) εὐνοίας (good will) δουλεύοντες (rendering service), ὡς (as) τῷ (to the) Κυρίῳ (Lord) καὶ (and) οὐκ (not) ἀνθρώποις (to men),
8εἰδότες (knowing) ὅτι (that) ἕκαστος (each one), ἐάν (if) τι (whatever) ποιήσῃ (he might have done) ἀγαθόν (good), τοῦτο (this) κομίσεται (he will receive back) παρὰ (from) Κυρίου (the Lord), εἴτε (whether) δοῦλος (slave) εἴτε (or) ἐλεύθερος (free).
9Καὶ (And) οἱ (-) κύριοι (masters), τὰ (the same things) αὐτὰ (them) ποιεῖτε (do) πρὸς (toward) αὐτούς (them), ἀνιέντες (giving up) τὴν (the) ἀπειλήν (threatening), εἰδότες (knowing) ὅτι (that) καὶ (also) αὐτῶν (of them) καὶ (and) ὑμῶν (of you) ὁ (the) Κύριός (master) ἐστιν (is) ἐν (in) οὐρανοῖς (the heavens), καὶ (and) προσωπολημψία (partiality) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (there is) παρ’ (with) αὐτῷ (Him).
The Armor of God
10Τοῦ (-) λοιποῦ (Henceforth) ἐνδυναμοῦσθε (be empowered) ἐν (in) Κυρίῳ (the Lord), καὶ (and) ἐν (in) τῷ (the) κράτει (strength) τῆς (of the) ἰσχύος (might) αὐτοῦ (of Him).
11ἐνδύσασθε (Put on) τὴν (the) πανοπλίαν (complete armor) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), πρὸς (for) τὸ (-) δύνασθαι (to be able) ὑμᾶς (you) στῆναι (to stand) πρὸς (against) τὰς (the) μεθοδείας (schemes) τοῦ (of the) διαβόλου (devil),
12ὅτι (because) οὐκ (not) ἔστιν (is) ἡμῖν (to us) ἡ (the) πάλη (wrestling) πρὸς (against) αἷμα (blood) καὶ (and) σάρκα (flesh), ἀλλὰ (but) πρὸς (against) τὰς (the) ἀρχάς (rulers), πρὸς (against) τὰς (the) ἐξουσίας (authorities), πρὸς (against) τοὺς (the) κοσμοκράτορας (cosmic powers) τοῦ (of the) σκότους (darkness) τούτου (this), πρὸς (against) τὰ (the) πνευματικὰ (spiritual forces) τῆς (-) πονηρίας (of evil) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) ἐπουρανίοις (heavenly realms).
13Διὰ (Because of) τοῦτο (this), ἀναλάβετε (take up) τὴν (the) πανοπλίαν (complete armor) τοῦ (-) Θεοῦ (of God), ἵνα (so that) δυνηθῆτε (you may be able) ἀντιστῆναι (to withstand) ἐν (in) τῇ (the) ἡμέρᾳ (day) τῇ (-) πονηρᾷ (evil), καὶ (and) ἅπαντα (all things) κατεργασάμενοι (having done), στῆναι (to stand).
14στῆτε (Stand) οὖν (therefore), περιζωσάμενοι (having girded) τὴν (the) ὀσφὺν (loins) ὑμῶν (of you) ἐν (with) ἀληθείᾳ (truth), καὶ (and) ἐνδυσάμενοι (having put on) τὸν (the) θώρακα (breastplate) τῆς (-) δικαιοσύνης (of righteousness),
15καὶ (and) ὑποδησάμενοι (having shod) τοὺς (the) πόδας (feet) ἐν (with) ἑτοιμασίᾳ (the readiness) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel) τῆς (-) εἰρήνης (of peace);
16ἐν (besides) πᾶσιν (all), ἀναλαβόντες (having taken up) τὸν (the) θυρεὸν (shield) τῆς (-) πίστεως (of faith), ἐν (with) ᾧ (which) δυνήσεσθε (you will be able) πάντα (all) τὰ (the) βέλη (arrows) τοῦ (of the) πονηροῦ (evil one) τὰ (-) πεπυρωμένα (flaming) σβέσαι (to quench).
17καὶ (And) τὴν (the) περικεφαλαίαν (helmet) τοῦ (-) σωτηρίου (of salvation) δέξασθε (take), καὶ (and) τὴν (the) μάχαιραν (sword) τοῦ (of the) Πνεύματος (Spirit), ὅ (which) ἐστιν (is) ῥῆμα (the word) Θεοῦ (of God),
18διὰ (through) πάσης (all) προσευχῆς (prayer) καὶ (and) δεήσεως (supplication), προσευχόμενοι (praying) ἐν (in) παντὶ (every) καιρῷ (season) ἐν (in) Πνεύματι (the Spirit), καὶ (and) εἰς (unto) αὐτὸ (this very thing), ἀγρυπνοῦντες (watching) ἐν (with) πάσῃ (all) προσκαρτερήσει (perseverance) καὶ (and) δεήσει (supplication) περὶ (for) πάντων (all) τῶν (-) ἁγίων (saints),
19καὶ (and also) ὑπὲρ (for) ἐμοῦ (me), ἵνα (that) μοι (to me) δοθῇ (may be given) λόγος (divine utterance) ἐν (in) ἀνοίξει (the opening) τοῦ (of the) στόματός (mouth) μου (of me), ἐν (with) παρρησίᾳ (boldness) γνωρίσαι (to make known) τὸ (the) μυστήριον (mystery) τοῦ (of the) εὐαγγελίου (gospel),
20ὑπὲρ (for) οὗ (which) πρεσβεύω (I am an ambassador) ἐν (in) ἁλύσει (a chain), ἵνα (that) ἐν (in) αὐτῷ (it) παρρησιάσωμαι (I may be bold), ὡς (as) δεῖ (it behooves) με (me) λαλῆσαι (to speak).

23Εἰρήνη (Peace) τοῖς (to the) ἀδελφοῖς (brothers) καὶ (and) ἀγάπη (love) μετὰ (with) πίστεως (faith) ἀπὸ (from) Θεοῦ (God) Πατρὸς (the Father) καὶ (and) Κυρίου (the Lord) Ἰησοῦ (Jesus) Χριστοῦ (Christ).
24Ἡ (-) χάρις (Grace) μετὰ (be with) πάντων (all) τῶν (those) ἀγαπώντων (loving) τὸν (the) Κύριον (Lord) ἡμῶν (of us) Ἰησοῦν (Jesus) Χριστὸν (Christ) ἐν (in) ἀφθαρσίᾳ (incorruptibility).
