1 As soon as it was morning, the high priests convened a meeting with the elders and scribes and the whole Council. They bound Jesus with chains, led him away, and handed him over to Pilate. And as soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council. And they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate. 2 Pilate asked him, |Are you the king of the Jews?| Jesus answered him, |You say so.| And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.” “Are you the king of the Jews?” asked Pilate. “You have said so,” Jesus replied.

4 So Pilate asked him again, |Don't you have any answer? Look how many accusations they're bringing against you!| And Pilate again asked him, “Have you no answer to make? See how many charges they bring against you.” So again Pilate asked him, “Aren’t you going to answer? See how many things they are accusing you of.”
5 But since Jesus no longer answered, Pilate was astonished. But Jesus made no further answer, so that Pilate was amazed. But Jesus still made no reply, and Pilate was amazed.
6 At every festival, Pilate would release any one prisoner whom the people requested. Now at the feast he used to release for them one prisoner for whom they asked. Now it was the custom at the festival to release a prisoner whom the people requested.
7 Now there was a man in prison named Barabbas. He had been with the insurgents who had committed murder during the rebellion. And among the rebels in prison, who had committed murder in the insurrection, there was a man called Barabbas. A man called Barabbas was in prison with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the uprising.
8 So the crowd came and began to request that Pilate do for them what he always did. And the crowd came up and began to ask Pilate to do as he usually did for them. The crowd came up and asked Pilate to do for them what he usually did.

15 So Pilate, wanting to satisfy the crowd, released Barabbas for them, but he had Jesus whipped and handed over to be crucified. So Pilate, wishing to satisfy the crowd, released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified. Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. 16 The soldiers led Jesus into the courtyard of the palace (that is, the governor's headquarters) and called out the whole guard. 32 Let the Messiah, the king of Israel, come down from the cross now, since seeing is believing!| Even the men who were crucified with him kept insulting him. 35 When some of the people standing there heard this, they said, |Listen! He's calling for Elijah!| And some of the bystanders hearing it said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.” When some of those standing near heard this, they said, “Listen, he’s calling Elijah.”
36 So someone ran and soaked a sponge in some sour wine. Then he put it on a stick and offered Jesus a drink, saying, |Wait! Let's see if Elijah comes to take him down!| And someone ran and filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on a reed and gave it to him to drink, saying, “Wait, let us see whether Elijah will come to take him down.” Someone ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to take him down,” he said.
37 Then Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last. And Jesus uttered a loud cry and breathed his last. With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.
