Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised Him from the dead—1Παῦλος ἀπόστολος οὐκ ἀπ’ ἀνθρώπων οὐδὲ δι’ ἀνθρώπου ἀλλὰ διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ καὶ Θεοῦ Πατρὸς τοῦ ἐγείραντος αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν
and all the brothers with me, To the churches of Galatia:2καὶ οἱ σὺν ἐμοὶ πάντες ἀδελφοί Ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῆς Γαλατίας
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ,3Χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ Θεοῦ Πατρὸς ἡμῶν «καὶ Κυρίου» Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ
who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,4τοῦ δόντος ἑαυτὸν ὑπὲρ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν ἡμῶν ὅπως ἐξέληται ἡμᾶς ἐκ τοῦ αἰῶνος τοῦ ἐνεστῶτος πονηροῦ κατὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ Πατρὸς ἡμῶν
to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.5 δόξα εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων ἀμήν
I am amazed how quickly you are deserting the One who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—6Θαυμάζω ὅτι οὕτως ταχέως μετατίθεσθε ἀπὸ τοῦ καλέσαντος ὑμᾶς ἐν χάριτι Χριστοῦ εἰς ἕτερον εὐαγγέλιον
which is not even a gospel. Evidently some people are troubling you and trying to distort the gospel of Christ.7 οὐκ ἔστιν ἄλλο εἰ μή τινές εἰσιν οἱ ταράσσοντες ὑμᾶς καὶ θέλοντες μεταστρέψαι τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦ Χριστοῦ
But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be under a curse!8Ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐὰν ἡμεῖς ἄγγελος ἐξ οὐρανοῦ εὐαγγελίζηται* ὑμῖν παρ’ εὐηγγελισάμεθα ὑμῖν ἀνάθεμα ἔστω
As we have said before, so now I say again: If anyone is preaching to you a gospel contrary to the one you received, let him be under a curse!9ὡς προειρήκαμεν καὶ ἄρτι πάλιν λέγω εἴ τις ὑμᾶς εὐαγγελίζεται παρ’ παρελάβετε ἀνάθεμα ἔστω
Am I now seeking the approval of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.10Ἄρτι γὰρ ἀνθρώπους πείθω τὸν Θεόν ζητῶ ἀνθρώποις ἀρέσκειν εἰ ἔτι ἀνθρώποις ἤρεσκον Χριστοῦ δοῦλος οὐκ ἂν ἤμην
For I certify to you, brothers, that the gospel I preached was not devised by man.11γνωρίζω γὰρ ὑμῖν ἀδελφοί τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τὸ εὐαγγελισθὲν ὑπ’ ἐμοῦ ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν κατὰ ἄνθρωπον
I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.12οὐδὲ γὰρ ἐγὼ παρὰ ἀνθρώπου παρέλαβον αὐτό οὔτε ἐδιδάχθην ἀλλὰ δι’ ἀποκαλύψεως Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ
For you have heard of my former way of life in Judaism, how severely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it.13Ἠκούσατε γὰρ τὴν ἐμὴν ἀναστροφήν ποτε ἐν τῷ Ἰουδαϊσμῷ ὅτι καθ’ ὑπερβολὴν ἐδίωκον τὴν ἐκκλησίαν τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ ἐπόρθουν αὐτήν
I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers.14καὶ προέκοπτον ἐν τῷ Ἰουδαϊσμῷ ὑπὲρ πολλοὺς συνηλικιώτας ἐν τῷ γένει μου περισσοτέρως ζηλωτὴς ὑπάρχων τῶν πατρικῶν μου παραδόσεων
But when God, who set me apart from my mother’s womb and called me by His grace, was pleased15Ὅτε δὲ εὐδόκησεν [ὁ θεὸς] ἀφορίσας με ἐκ κοιλίας μητρός μου καὶ καλέσας διὰ τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ
to reveal His Son in me so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not rush to consult with flesh and blood,16ἀποκαλύψαι τὸν Υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἐν ἐμοὶ ἵνα εὐαγγελίζωμαι αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν εὐθέως οὐ προσανεθέμην σαρκὶ καὶ αἵματι
nor did I go up to Jerusalem to the apostles who came before me, but I went into Arabia and later returned to Damascus.17οὐδὲ ἀνῆλθον εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα πρὸς τοὺς πρὸ ἐμοῦ ἀποστόλους ἀλλὰ ἀπῆλθον εἰς Ἀραβίαν καὶ πάλιν ὑπέστρεψα εἰς Δαμασκόν
Only after three years did I go up to Jerusalem to confer with Cephas, and I stayed with him fifteen days.18Ἔπειτα μετὰ τρία ἔτη ἀνῆλθον εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ἱστορῆσαι Κηφᾶν καὶ ἐπέμεινα πρὸς αὐτὸν ἡμέρας δεκαπέντε
But I saw none of the other apostles except James, the Lord’s brother.19ἕτερον δὲ τῶν ἀποστόλων οὐκ εἶδον εἰ μὴ Ἰάκωβον τὸν ἀδελφὸν τοῦ Κυρίου
I assure you before God that what I am writing to you is no lie.20 δὲ γράφω ὑμῖν ἰδοὺ ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ ὅτι οὐ ψεύδομαι
Later I went to the regions of Syria and Cilicia.21Ἔπειτα ἦλθον εἰς τὰ κλίματα τῆς Συρίας καὶ τῆς Κιλικίας
I was personally unknown, however, to the churches of Judea that are in Christ.22ἤμην δὲ ἀγνοούμενος τῷ προσώπῳ ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῆς Ἰουδαίας ταῖς ἐν Χριστῷ
They only heard the account: “The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy.”23μόνον δὲ ἀκούοντες ἦσαν ὅτι διώκων ἡμᾶς ποτε νῦν εὐαγγελίζεται τὴν πίστιν ἥν ποτε ἐπόρθει
And they glorified God because of me.24καὶ ἐδόξαζον ἐν ἐμοὶ τὸν Θεόν
