Σὺ

διδασκαλίᾳ
But
as for you,
speak
the things that
are consistent with
sound
doctrine.
But
speak
thou
the things which
become
sound
doctrine:
2
Πρεσβύτας
νηφαλίους
εἶναι
σεμνούς
σώφρονας
ὑγιαίνοντας
τῇ
πίστει
τῇ
ἀγάπῃ
τῇ
ὑπομονῇ
Older men
are to be
temperate,
dignified,
self-controlled,
and sound
in faith,
love,
and
perseverance.
That the aged men
be
sober,
grave,
temperate,
sound
in faith,
in charity,
in patience.
3
πρεσβύτιδας

ἐν
καταστήματι
ἱεροπρεπεῖς
μὴ
διαβόλους
μηδὲ
οἴνῳ

καλοδιδασκάλους
Older women,
likewise,
are to be reverent
in
their behavior,
not
slanderers
or
addicted
to much
wine,
but teachers of good.
The aged women
likewise,
that [they be] in
behaviour
as becometh holiness,
not
false accusers,
not
given
to much
wine,
teachers of good things;
4
ἵνα

φιλάνδρους
εἶναι
φιλοτέκνους
In this way
they can train
the
young women
to
love their husbands
and children,
That
they may teach
the young women
to be
sober,
to love their husbands,
to love their children,
5
σώφρονας

ὑποτασσομένας
τοῖς
ἰδίοις

ἵνα

Θεοῦ
βλασφημῆται
to be self-controlled,
pure,
managers of their households,
kind,
and submissive
to their
own
husbands,
so that
the
word
of God
will not be discredited.
[To be] discreet,
chaste,
keepers at home,
good,
obedient
to their own
husbands,
that
the word
of God
be
not
blasphemed.
6
Τοὺς
νεωτέρους
ὡσαύτως
παρακάλει
σωφρονεῖν
In the same way,
urge
the
younger men
to be self-controlled.
Young men
likewise
exhort
to be sober minded.
7
Περὶ

σεμνότητα
In
everything,
show
yourself
to be an example
by doing good
works.
In
your
teaching
show integrity,
dignity,
In
all things
shewing
thyself
a pattern
of good
works:
in
doctrine
[shewing] uncorruptness,
gravity,
sincerity,

λέγειν
περὶ
ἡμῶν
φαῦλον
and wholesome
speech
that is above reproach,
so that
anyone
who
opposes us
will be ashamed
to have
nothing
bad
to say
about
us.
Sound
speech,
that cannot be condemned;
that
he that is of
the contrary part
may be ashamed,
having
no
evil
thing
to say
of
you.
9
Δούλους

Slaves
are to submit
to their own
masters
in
everything,
to be
well-pleasing,
not
argumentative,
[Exhort] servants
to be obedient
unto their own
masters,
[and] to
please [them] well
in
all
[things]; not
answering again;
10
μὴ

Θεοῦ

not
stealing from them,
but
showing
all
good
faith,
so that
in
every respect
they will adorn
the
teaching
about
God
our
Savior.
Not
purloining,
but
shewing
all
good
fidelity;
that
they may adorn
the doctrine
of God
our
Saviour
in
all things.
11
Ἐπεφάνη

For
the
grace
of God
has appeared,
bringing salvation
to everyone.
For
the grace
of God
that bringeth salvation
hath appeared
to all
men,
12
παιδεύουσα

It instructs
us
to
renounce
ungodliness
and
worldly
passions,
and to live
sensible,
upright,
and
godly lives
in
the
present
age,
Teaching
us
that,
denying
ungodliness
and
worldly
lusts,
we should live
soberly,
righteously,
and
godly,
in
this present
world;

Jesus
Christ.
Looking for
that blessed
hope,
and
the glorious
appearing
of the great
God
and
our

Jesus
Christ;

He
gave
Himself
for
us
to
redeem
us
from
all
lawlessness
and
to purify
for Himself
a people
for His own possession,
zealous
for good
deeds.
Who
gave
himself
for
us,
that
he might redeem
us
from
all
iniquity,
and
purify
unto himself
a peculiar
people,
zealous
of good
works.

Speak
these things
as
you encourage

with
all
authority.
Let no one

you.
These things
speak,
and
exhort,
and
rebuke
with
all
authority.
Let
no man

thee.
