3	“A voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make straight His paths.’”	the voice of one crying in the wilderness: ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight,’”	“a voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’”
4	John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance unto forgiveness of sins. 5	And all the region of Judea and all those of Jerusalem were going out to him, and they were being baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins. 6	And John was clothed in camel’s hair, and a belt of leather was around his waist, and he is eating locusts and wild honey. 7	And he was proclaiming, saying, “The One mighter than I comes after me, of whom I am not sufficient, having stooped down, to loose the strap of His sandals.	And he preached, saying, “After me comes he who is mightier than I, the strap of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.	And this was his message: “After me comes the one more powerful than I, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.
8	I baptized you⁺ in water, but He will baptize you⁺ in the Holy Spirit.”	I have baptized you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”	I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit.”
9	And it came to pass in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John.	In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.	At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.
10	And immediately, going up out of the water, He saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending like a dove to Him. 13	And He was in the wilderness forty days being tempted by Satan, and He was with the wild animals, and the angels were ministering to Him. 16	And passing by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, the brother of Simon, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.	Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen.	As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen.
17	And Jesus said to them, “Come after Me, and I will make you⁺ to become fishers of men.”	And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”	“Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
18	And immediately, having left the nets, they followed Him.	And immediately they left their nets and followed him.	At once they left their nets and followed him.
19	And having gone on a little, He saw James of Zebedee and his brother John. And they were in the boat, mending the nets.	And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending the nets.	When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets.
20	And immediately He called them, and having left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, they went away after Him.	And immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and followed him. 21	And they go into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbaths, having entered into the synagogue, He was teaching. 22	And they were astonished at His teaching, for He was teaching them as having authority, and not as the scribes. The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.
23	And immediately there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit, and he cried out,	And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out,	Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out,
24	saying, “What to us and to You, Jesus the Nazarene? Did You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!”	“What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.”	“What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”
25	And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silenced, and come out of him!”	But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!”	“Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!”
26	And having thrown him into convulsions, and having cried in a loud voice, the unclean spirit came out of him.	And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him.	The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.
27	And all were amazed, so as to question among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him!”	And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.”	The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”
28	And the news of Him immediately went out everywhere into all the surrounding region of Galilee.	And at once his fame spread everywhere throughout all the surrounding region of Galilee.	News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.
29	And immediately, having gone out of the synagogue, they went into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.	And immediately he left the synagogue and entered the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.	As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew.
30	And the mother-in-law of Simon was lying sick, having a fever, and immediately they speak to Him about her.	Now Simon’s mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her.	Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her.
31	And having come near, He raised her up, having taken hold of the hand. And the fever left her, and she was serving them.	And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them.	So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.
32	Now evening having come, when the sun set, they were bringing to Him all those being ill and those being demon-possessed.	That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons.	That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.
33	And all the city was gathered together at the door.	And the whole city was gathered together at the door.	The whole town gathered at the door,
34	And He healed many ill having various diseases, and He cast out many demons. And He was not allowing the demons to speak, because they knew Him.	And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him.	and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.
35	And having risen up early, very much in the night, He went out and went away into a wilderness place, and there He was praying.	And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.	Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
36	And Simon and those with him went after Him.	And Simon and those who were with him searched for him,	Simon and his companions went to look for him,
37	And having found Him, also they say to Him, “Everyone seeks You!”	and they found him and said to him, “Everyone is looking for you.”	and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”
38	And He says to them, “Let us go another way into the neighboring towns, so that I might preach there also; for I came out for this.”	And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.”	Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”
39	And He went preaching in their synagogues in all Galilee, and casting out demons.	And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons.	So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.
40	And a leper comes to Him, imploring Him and falling on his knees, and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You are able to cleanse me.”	And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.”	A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”
41	And having been moved with compassion, having stretched out His hand, He touched him and, He says to him, “I am willing; be cleansed!”	Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean.”	Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!”
42	And immediately the leprosy went away from him, and he was cleansed.	And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean.	Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.
43	And having sternly warned him, immediately He sent him out.	And Jesus sternly charged him and sent him away at once,	Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning:
44	And He says to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest, and offer concerning your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.”	and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a proof to them.”	“See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
45	But he, having gone out, began to proclaim much and to spread abroad the word, so that He was no longer able to enter openly into a city, but He was out in wilderness places. And they were coming to Him from everywhere.	But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in desolate places, and people were coming to him from every quarter.	Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.
