3 Χάριν ἔχω τῷ Θεῷ ᾧ λατρεύω ἀπὸ προγόνων ἐν καθαρᾷ συνειδήσει ὡς ἀδιάλειπτον ἔχω τὴν περὶ σοῦ μνείαν ἐν ταῖς δεήσεσίν μου νυκτὸς καὶ ἡμέρας I thank God whom I serve, as did my ancestors, with a clear conscience, as I remember you constantly in my prayers night and day. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.
9 τοῦ σώσαντος ἡμᾶς καὶ καλέσαντος κλήσει ἁγίᾳ οὐ κατὰ τὰ ἔργα ἡμῶν ἀλλὰ κατὰ ἰδίαν πρόθεσιν καὶ χάριν τὴν δοθεῖσαν ἡμῖν ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ πρὸ χρόνων αἰωνίων who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages began, He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. What you heard from me, keep as the pattern of sound teaching, with faith and love in Christ Jesus.
14 τὴν καλὴν παραθήκην φύλαξον διὰ Πνεύματος Ἁγίου τοῦ ἐνοικοῦντος ἐν ἡμῖν By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you. Guard the good deposit that was entrusted to you—guard it with the help of the Holy Spirit who lives in us.
15 Οἶδας τοῦτο ὅτι ἀπεστράφησάν με πάντες οἱ ἐν τῇ Ἀσίᾳ ὧν ἐστιν Φύγελος καὶ Ἑρμογένης You are aware that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes. You know that everyone in the province of Asia has deserted me, including Phygelus and Hermogenes.
16 Δῴη ἔλεος ὁ Κύριος τῷ Ὀνησιφόρου οἴκῳ ὅτι πολλάκις με ἀνέψυξεν καὶ τὴν ἅλυσίν μου οὐκ ἐπαισχύνθη May the Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains, May the Lord show mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, because he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains.
