| 1After two days it was the Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread. The chief priests and the scribes were looking for a treacherous way to arrest and kill Him." | 1It was now two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth and kill him, |
| 2Not during the festival," they said, "or there may be rioting among the people." | 2for they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar from the people.” |
| 3While He was in Bethany at the house of Simon who had a serious skin disease, as He was reclining at the table, a woman came with an alabaster jar of pure and expensive fragrant oil of nard. | 4But some were expressing indignation to one another: "Why has this fragrant oil been wasted? | 4There were some who said to themselves indignantly, “Why was the ointment wasted like that? |
| 5For this oil might have been sold for more than 300 denarii and given to the poor." And they began to scold her. | 5For this ointment could have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And they scolded her. |
| 6Then Jesus said, "Leave her alone. Why are you bothering her? She has done a noble thing for Me. | 6But Jesus said, “Leave her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a beautiful thing to me. |

| 44His betrayer had given them a signal. "The One I kiss," he said, "He's the One; arrest Him and take Him away under guard." | 44Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I will kiss is the man. Seize him and lead him away under guard.” |

| 54Peter followed Him at a distance, right into the high priest's courtyard. | 61But He kept silent and did not answer anything. Again the high priest questioned Him, "Are You the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?" | 61But he remained silent and made no answer. Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” |
| 62"I am," said Jesus, "and all of you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power and coming with the clouds of heaven." | 62And Jesus said, “I am, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.” |
| 63Then the high priest tore his robes and said, "Why do we still need witnesses? | 63And the high priest tore his garments and said, “What further witnesses do we need? |
| 64You have heard the blasphemy! What is your decision?" And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death. | 64You have heard his blasphemy. What is your decision?” And they all condemned him as deserving death. |
| 65Then some began to spit on Him, to blindfold Him, and to beat Him, saying, "Prophesy!" The temple police also took Him and slapped Him. | 65And some began to spit on him and to cover his face and to strike him, saying to him, “Prophesy!” And the guards received him with blows. |
| 66While Peter was in the courtyard below, one of the high priest's servants came. | 66And as Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came, |

| 69When the servant saw him again she began to tell those standing nearby, "This man is one of them!" | 69And the servant girl saw him and began again to say to the bystanders, “This man is one of them.” |
| 70But again he denied it. After a little while those standing there said to Peter again, "You certainly are one of them, since you're also a Galilean!" | 70But again he denied it. | 71Then he started to curse and to swear with an oath, "I don't know this man you're talking about!" | 71But he began to invoke a curse on himself and to swear, “I do not know this man of whom you speak.” |
| 72Immediately a rooster crowed a second time, and Peter remembered when Jesus had spoken the word to him, "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times." When he thought about it, he began to weep. | 72And immediately the rooster crowed a second time. And Peter remembered how Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” And he broke down and wept. |
