1	Σὺ δὲ λάλει ἃ πρέπει τῇ ὑγιαινούσῃ διδασκαλίᾳ	But as for you, teach what accords with sound doctrine.	You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine.
2	Πρεσβύτας νηφαλίους εἶναι σεμνούς σώφρονας ὑγιαίνοντας τῇ πίστει τῇ ἀγάπῃ τῇ ὑπομονῇ	Older men are to be sober-minded, dignified, self-controlled, sound in faith, in love, and in steadfastness.	Teach the older men to be temperate, worthy of respect, self-controlled, and sound in faith, in love and in endurance.
3	πρεσβύτιδας ὡσαύτως ἐν καταστήματι ἱεροπρεπεῖς μὴ διαβόλους μηδὲ οἴνῳ πολλῷ δεδουλωμένας καλοδιδασκάλους	Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good,	Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good.
4	ἵνα σωφρονίζωσιν τὰς νέας φιλάνδρους εἶναι φιλοτέκνους	and so train the young women to love their husbands and children,	Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children,
5	σώφρονας ἁγνάς οἰκουργούς ἀγαθάς ὑποτασσομένας τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν ἵνα μὴ ὁ λόγος τοῦ Θεοῦ βλασφημῆται	to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled.	to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
6	Τοὺς νεωτέρους ὡσαύτως παρακάλει σωφρονεῖν	Likewise, urge the younger men to be self-controlled.	Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled.
7	Περὶ πάντα σεαυτὸν παρεχόμενος τύπον καλῶν ἔργων ἐν τῇ διδασκαλίᾳ ἀφθορίαν σεμνότητα	Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity,	In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness
8	λόγον ὑγιῆ ἀκατάγνωστον ἵνα ὁ ἐξ ἐναντίας ἐντραπῇ μηδὲν ἔχων λέγειν περὶ ἡμῶν φαῦλον	and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.	and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
9	Δούλους ἰδίοις δεσπόταις ὑποτάσσεσθαι ἐν πᾶσιν εὐαρέστους εἶναι μὴ ἀντιλέγοντας	Bondservants are to be submissive to their own masters in everything; they are to be well-pleasing, not argumentative,	Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them,
10	μὴ νοσφιζομένους ἀλλὰ πᾶσαν πίστιν ἐνδεικνυμένους ἀγαθήν ἵνα τὴν διδασκαλίαν τὴν τοῦ Σωτῆρος ἡμῶν Θεοῦ κοσμῶσιν ἐν πᾶσιν	not pilfering, but showing all good faith, so that in everything they may adorn the doctrine of God our Savior.	and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive.
11	Ἐπεφάνη γὰρ ἡ χάρις τοῦ Θεοῦ σωτήριος πᾶσιν ἀνθρώποις	For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,	For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people.
12	παιδεύουσα ἡμᾶς ἵνα ἀρνησάμενοι τὴν ἀσέβειαν καὶ τὰς κοσμικὰς ἐπιθυμίας σωφρόνως καὶ δικαίως καὶ εὐσεβῶς ζήσωμεν ἐν τῷ νῦν αἰῶνι	training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age,	It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age,
13	προσδεχόμενοι τὴν μακαρίαν ἐλπίδα καὶ ἐπιφάνειαν τῆς δόξης τοῦ μεγάλου Θεοῦ καὶ Σωτῆρος ἡμῶν Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ	waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,	while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,
14	ὃς ἔδωκεν ἑαυτὸν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν ἵνα λυτρώσηται ἡμᾶς ἀπὸ πάσης ἀνομίας καὶ καθαρίσῃ ἑαυτῷ λαὸν περιούσιον ζηλωτὴν καλῶν ἔργων	who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.	who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.
15	Ταῦτα λάλει καὶ παρακάλει καὶ ἔλεγχε μετὰ πάσης ἐπιταγῆς μηδείς σου περιφρονείτω	Declare these things; exhort and rebuke with all authority. Let no one disregard you.	These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
