Then Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the kingdom of God arrive with power.” And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.” And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That there be some of them that stand here, which shall not taste of death, till they have seen the kingdom of God come with power. And he said to them, “Truly I tell you, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power.” Jesus went on to say, “I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Kingdom of God arrive in great power!”
After six days Jesus took with Him Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. There He was transfigured before them. And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, And after six days Jesus taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and leadeth them up into an high mountain apart by themselves: and he was transfigured before them. After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. Six days later Jesus took Peter, James, and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone. As the men watched, Jesus’ appearance was transformed,
His clothes became radiantly white, brighter than any launderer on earth could bleach them. and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them. And his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow; so as no fuller on earth can white them. His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. and his clothes became dazzling white, far whiter than any earthly bleach could ever make them.
And Elijah and Moses appeared before them, talking with Jesus. And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. And there appeared unto them Elias with Moses: and they were talking with Jesus. And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus. Then Elijah and Moses appeared and began talking with Jesus.
Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.” And Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” And Peter answered and said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here. Let us put up three shelters—one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.” Peter exclaimed, “Rabbi, it’s wonderful for us to be here! Let’s make three shelters as memorials—one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
For they were all so terrified that Peter did not know what else to say. For he did not know what to say, for they were terrified. For he wist not what to say; for they were sore afraid. (He did not know what to say, they were so frightened.) He said this because he didn’t really know what else to say, for they were all terrified.
Then a cloud appeared and enveloped them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is My beloved Son. Listen to Him!” And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.” And there was a cloud that overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him. Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: “This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!” Then a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my dearly loved Son. Listen to him.”
Suddenly, when they looked around, they saw no one with them except Jesus. And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone with them but Jesus only. And suddenly, when they had looked round about, they saw no man any more, save Jesus only with themselves. Suddenly, when they looked around, they no longer saw anyone with them except Jesus. Suddenly, when they looked around, Moses and Elijah were gone, and they saw only Jesus with them.
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus admonished them not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them that they should tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead. As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. As they went back down the mountain, he told them not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.
So they kept this matter to themselves, discussing what it meant to rise from the dead. So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what this rising from the dead might mean. And they kept that saying with themselves, questioning one with another what the rising from the dead should mean. They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what “rising from the dead” meant. So they kept it to themselves, but they often asked each other what he meant by “rising from the dead.”
And they asked Jesus, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” And they asked him, “Why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?” And they asked him, saying, Why say the scribes that Elias must first come? And they asked him, “Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?” Then they asked him, “Why do the teachers of religious law insist that Elijah must return before the Messiah comes?”
He replied, “Elijah does indeed come first, and he restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected? And he said to them, “Elijah does come first to restore all things. And how is it written of the Son of Man that he should suffer many things and be treated with contempt? And he answered and told them, Elias verily cometh first, and restoreth all things; and how it is written of the Son of man, that he must suffer many things, and be set at nought. Jesus replied, “To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things. Why then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected? Jesus responded, “Elijah is indeed coming first to get everything ready. Yet why do the Scriptures say that the Son of Man must suffer greatly and be treated with utter contempt?
But I tell you that Elijah has indeed come, and they have done to him whatever they wished, just as it is written about him.” But I tell you that Elijah has come, and they did to him whatever they pleased, as it is written of him.” But I say unto you, That Elias is indeed come, and they have done unto him whatsoever they listed, as it is written of him. But I tell you, Elijah has come, and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him.” But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they chose to abuse him, just as the Scriptures predicted.”
When they returned to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them, and scribes arguing with them. And when they came to the disciples, they saw a great crowd around them, and scribes arguing with them. And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them. When they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them. When they returned to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd surrounding them, and some teachers of religious law were arguing with them.
As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were filled with awe and ran to greet Him. And immediately all the crowd, when they saw him, were greatly amazed and ran up to him and greeted him. And straightway all the people, when they beheld him, were greatly amazed, and running to him saluted him. As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him. When the crowd saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with awe, and they ran to greet him.
“What are you disputing with them?” He asked. And he asked them, “What are you arguing about with them?” And he asked the scribes, What question ye with them? “What are you arguing with them about?” he asked. “What is all this arguing about?” Jesus asked.
Someone in the crowd replied, “Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a spirit that makes him mute. And someone from the crowd answered him, “Teacher, I brought my son to you, for he has a spirit that makes him mute. And one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my son, which hath a dumb spirit; A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. One of the men in the crowd spoke up and said, “Teacher, I brought my son so you could heal him. He is possessed by an evil spirit that won’t let him talk.
Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. I asked Your disciples to drive it out, but they were unable.” And whenever it seizes him, it throws him down, and he foams and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid. So I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they were not able.” And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him: and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not.” And whenever this spirit seizes him, it throws him violently to the ground. Then he foams at the mouth and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid. So I asked your disciples to cast out the evil spirit, but they couldn’t do it.”
“O unbelieving generation!” Jesus replied. “How long must I remain with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to Me.” And he answered them, “O faithless generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him to me.” He answereth him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him unto me. “You unbelieving generation,” Jesus replied, “how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.” Jesus said to them, “You faithless people! How long must I be with you? How long must I put up with you? Bring the boy to me.”
So they brought him, and seeing Jesus, the spirit immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. And they brought the boy to him. And when the spirit saw him, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth. And they brought him unto him: and when he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and wallowed foaming. So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth. So they brought the boy. But when the evil spirit saw Jesus, it threw the child into a violent convulsion, and he fell to the ground, writhing and foaming at the mouth.
Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has this been with him?” “From childhood,” he said. And Jesus asked his father, “How long has this been happening to him?” And he said, “From childhood. And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came unto him? And he said, Of a child. Jesus asked the boy’s father, “How long has he been like this?” “From childhood,” he answered. “How long has this been happening?” Jesus asked the boy’s father. He replied, “Since he was a little boy.
“It often throws him into the fire or into the water, trying to kill him. But if You can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” And it has often cast him into fire and into water, to destroy him. But if you can do anything, have compassion on us and help us.” And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire, and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have compassion on us, and help us. “It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us.” The spirit often throws him into the fire or into water, trying to kill him. Have mercy on us and help us, if you can.”
“If You can?” echoed Jesus. “All things are possible to him who believes!” And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. “’If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” “What do you mean, ‘If I can’?” Jesus asked. “Anything is possible if a person believes.”
Immediately the boy’s father cried out, “I do believe; help my unbelief!” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”
When Jesus saw that a crowd had come running, He rebuked the unclean spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” He said, “I command you to come out and never enter him again.” And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, “You mute and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.” When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the impure spirit. “You deaf and mute spirit,” he said, “I command you, come out of him and never enter him again.” When Jesus saw that the crowd of onlookers was growing, he rebuked the evil spirit. “Listen, you spirit that makes this boy unable to hear and speak,” he said. “I command you to come out of this child and never enter him again!”
After shrieking and convulsing him violently, the spirit came out. The boy became like a corpse, so that many said, “He is dead.” And after crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse, so that most of them said, “He is dead.” And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead. The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, “He’s dead.” Then the spirit screamed and threw the boy into another violent convulsion and left him. The boy appeared to be dead. A murmur ran through the crowd as people said, “He’s dead.”
But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him to his feet, and he stood up. But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. But Jesus took him by the hand, and lifted him up; and he arose. But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up. But Jesus took him by the hand and helped him to his feet, and he stood up.
After Jesus had gone into the house, His disciples asked Him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” And when he had entered the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, “Why couldn’t we drive it out?” Afterward, when Jesus was alone in the house with his disciples, they asked him, “Why couldn’t we cast out that evil spirit?”
Jesus answered, “This kind cannot come out, except by prayer.” And he said to them, “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer.” And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting. He replied, “This kind can come out only by prayer.” Jesus replied, “This kind can be cast out only by prayer.”
Going on from there, they passed through Galilee. But Jesus did not want anyone to know, They went on from there and passed through Galilee. And he did not want anyone to know, And they departed thence, and passed through Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it. They left that place and passed through Galilee. Jesus did not want anyone to know where they were, Leaving that region, they traveled through Galilee. Jesus didn’t want anyone to know he was there,
because He was teaching His disciples. He told them, “The Son of Man will be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill Him, and after three days He will rise.” for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him. And when he is killed, after three days he will rise.” For he taught his disciples, and said unto them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they shall kill him; and after that he is killed, he shall rise the third day. because he was teaching his disciples. He said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men. They will kill him, and after three days he will rise.” for he wanted to spend more time with his disciples and teach them. He said to them, “The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of his enemies. He will be killed, but three days later he will rise from the dead.”
But they did not understand this statement, and they were afraid to ask Him about it. But they did not understand the saying, and were afraid to ask him. But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him. But they did not understand what he meant and were afraid to ask him about it. They didn’t understand what he was saying, however, and they were afraid to ask him what he meant.
Then they came to Capernaum. While Jesus was in the house, He asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?” And they came to Capernaum. And when he was in the house he asked them, “What were you discussing on the way?” And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way? They came to Capernaum. When he was in the house, he asked them, “What were you arguing about on the road?” After they arrived at Capernaum and settled in a house, Jesus asked his disciples, “What were you discussing out on the road?”
But they were silent, for on the way they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest. But they kept silent, for on the way they had argued with one another about who was the greatest. But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who should be the greatest. But they kept quiet because on the way they had argued about who was the greatest. But they didn’t answer, because they had been arguing about which of them was the greatest.
Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “If anyone wants to be first, he must be the last of all and the servant of all.” And he sat down and called the twelve. And he said to them, “If anyone would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all.” And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first, the same shall be last of all, and servant of all. Sitting down, Jesus called the Twelve and said, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” He sat down, called the twelve disciples over to him, and said, “Whoever wants to be first must take last place and be the servant of everyone else.”
Then He had a little child stand among them. Taking the child in His arms, He said to them, And he took a child and put him in the midst of them, and taking him in his arms, he said to them, And he took a child, and set him in the midst of them: and when he had taken him in his arms, he said unto them, He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, Then he put a little child among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them,
“Whoever welcomes one of these little children in My name welcomes Me, and whoever welcomes Me welcomes not only Me, but the One who sent Me.” “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.” Whosoever shall receive one of such children in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me. “Whoever welcomes one of these little children in my name welcomes me; and whoever welcomes me does not welcome me but the one who sent me.” “Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me welcomes not only me but also my Father who sent me.”
John said to Him, “Teacher, we saw someone else driving out demons in Your name, and we tried to stop him, because he does not accompany us.” John said to him, “Teacher, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he was not following us.” And John answered him, saying, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name, and he followeth not us: and we forbad him, because he followeth not us. “Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.” John said to Jesus, “Teacher, we saw someone using your name to cast out demons, but we told him to stop because he wasn’t in our group.”
“Do not stop him,” Jesus replied. “For no one who performs a miracle in My name can turn around and speak evil of Me. But Jesus said, “Do not stop him, for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon afterward to speak evil of me. But Jesus said, Forbid him not: for there is no man which shall do a miracle in my name, that can lightly speak evil of me. “Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, “Don’t stop him!” Jesus said. “No one who performs a miracle in my name will soon be able to speak evil of me.
For whoever is not against us is for us. For the one who is not against us is for us. For he that is not against us is on our part. for whoever is not against us is for us. Anyone who is not against us is for us.
Indeed, if anyone gives you even a cup of water because you bear the name of Christ, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward. For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ will by no means lose his reward. For whosoever shall give you a cup of water to drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ, verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward. Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward. If anyone gives you even a cup of water because you belong to the Messiah, I tell you the truth, that person will surely be rewarded.
But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be thrown into the sea. “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea. And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were thrown into the sea. “But if you cause one of these little ones who trusts in me to fall into sin, it would be better for you to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone hung around your neck.
If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two hands and go into hell, into the unquenchable fire. And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one hand than to go into the unquenchable fires of hell with two hands.
Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. If your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It’s better to enter eternal life with only one foot than to be thrown into hell with two feet.
Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out. It’s better to enter the Kingdom of God with only one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell,
where ‘their worm never dies, and the fire is never quenched.’ ‘where their worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’ Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. where “’the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched.’ ‘where the maggots never die and the fire never goes out.’
For everyone will be salted with fire. For everyone will be salted with fire. For every one shall be salted with fire, and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt. Everyone will be salted with fire. “For everyone will be tested with fire.
Salt is good, but if the salt loses its saltiness, with what will you season it? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” Salt is good, but if the salt has lost its saltiness, how will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another.” Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another. “Salt is good, but if it loses its saltiness, how can you make it salty again? Have salt among yourselves, and be at peace with each other.” Salt is good for seasoning. But if it loses its flavor, how do you make it salty again? You must have the qualities of salt among yourselves and live in peace with each other.”
