A Prophecy against the Ruler of Tyre

1 וַיְהִ֥י (And came) דְבַר־ (the word) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) אֵלַ֥י (to me) לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying),

2 בֶּן־ (Son) אָדָ֡ם (of man), אֱמֹר֩ (say) לִנְגִ֨יד (to the prince) צֹ֜ר (of Tyre), כֹּֽה־ (thus) אָמַ֣ר׀ (says) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהֹוִ֗ה (YHWH); יַ֣עַן (Because) גָּבַ֤הּ (is lifted up), לִבְּךָ֙ (your heart) וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (and you say), אֵ֣ל (A god), אָ֔נִי (I am) מוֹשַׁ֧ב (in the seat) אֱלֹהִ֛ים (of gods), יָשַׁ֖בְתִּי (I sit) בְּלֵ֣ב (in the midst) יַמִּ֑ים (of the seas); וְאַתָּ֤ה (and you are) אָדָם֙ (a man), וְֽלֹא־ (and not) אֵ֔ל (a god), וַתִּתֵּ֥ן (and you give) לִבְּךָ֖ (your heart) כְּלֵ֥ב (as the heart) אֱלֹהִֽים׃ (of a god);

3 הִנֵּ֥ה (behold), חָכָ֛ם (are wiser) אַתָּ֖ה (you) מִדָּנִאֵל (than Daniel) כָּל־ (anything) סָת֖וּם (hidden) לֹ֥א (not) עֲמָמֽוּךָ׃ (is in the dark for you).

4 בְּחָכְמָֽתְךָ֙ (With your wisdom) וּבִתְבוּנָ֣תְךָ֔ (and with your understanding) עָשִׂ֥יתָ (you have made) לְּךָ֖ (for yourself) חָ֑יִל (wealth), וַתַּ֛עַשׂ (and you have made) זָהָ֥ב (gold) וָכֶ֖סֶף (and silver) בְּאוֹצְרוֹתֶֽיךָ׃ (in your treasuries).

5 בְּרֹ֧ב (By the abundance) חָכְמָתְךָ֛ (of your wisdom) בִּרְכֻלָּתְךָ֖ (in trading) הִרְבִּ֣יתָ (you have increased) חֵילֶ֑ךָ (your wealth), וַיִּגְבַּ֥הּ (and is lifted high) לְבָבְךָ֖ (your heart) בְּחֵילֶֽךָ׃ס (in your wealth);

6 לָכֵ֕ן (Therefore) כֹּ֥ה (thus) אָמַ֖ר (says) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהוִ֑ה (YHWH); יַ֛עַן (Because) תִּתְּךָ֥ (you have given) אֶת־ (-) לְבָבְךָ֖ (your heart) כְּלֵ֥ב (as the heart) אֱלֹהִֽים׃ (of a god);

7 לָכֵ֗ן (therefore) הִנְנִ֨י (behold—I) מֵבִ֤יא (I am bringing) עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ (upon you) זָרִ֔ים (strangers) עָרִיצֵ֖י (the ruthless) גּוֹיִ֑ם (of the nations). וְהֵרִ֤יקוּ (And they will draw out) חַרְבוֹתָם֙ (their swords) עַל־ (against) יְפִ֣י (the beauty) חָכְמָתֶ֔ךָ (of your wisdom), וְחִלְּל֖וּ (and they will defile) יִפְעָתֶֽךָ׃ (your splendor).

8 לַשַּׁ֖חַת (Into the Pit), יֽוֹרִד֑וּךָ (they bring you down) וָמַ֛תָּה (and you will die) מְמוֹתֵ֥י (the death) חָלָ֖ל (of the slain) בְּלֵ֥ב (in the midst) יַמִּֽים׃ (of the seas).

9 הֶאָמֹ֤ר (Saying) תֹּאמַר֙ (will you say) אֱלֹהִ֣ים (A god)? אָ֔נִי (I am) לִפְנֵ֖י (before the face) הֹֽרְגֶ֑ךָ (of the One slaying you) וְאַתָּ֥ה (and you are) אָדָ֛ם (a man), וְלֹא־ (and not) אֵ֖ל (a god), בְּיַ֥ד (in the hand) מְחַלְלֶֽיךָ׃ (of the One slaying you).

10 מוֹתֵ֧י (The death) עֲרֵלִ֛ים (of the uncircumcised) תָּמ֖וּת (you will die) בְּיַד־ (by the hand) זָרִ֑ים (of strangers), כִּ֚י (for) אֲנִ֣י (I) דִבַּ֔רְתִּי (have spoken) נְאֻ֖ם (a declaration) אֲדֹנָ֥י (of the Lord) יְהוִֽה׃ס (YHWH).

A Lament for the King of Tyre

11 וַיְהִ֥י (And came) דְבַר־ (the word) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) אֵלַ֥י (to me) לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying),

12 בֶּן־ (Son) אָדָ֕ם (of man), שָׂ֥א (take up) קִינָ֖ה (a lamentation) עַל־ (for) מֶ֣לֶךְ (the king) צ֑וֹר (of Tyre), וְאָמַ֣רְתָּ (and say) לּ֗וֹ (to him) כֹּ֤ה (thus) אָמַר֙ (says) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהוִ֔ה (YHWH); אַתָּה֙ (You) חוֹתֵ֣ם (were the seal) תָּכְנִ֔ית (of perfection), מָלֵ֥א (full of) חָכְמָ֖ה (wisdom), וּכְלִ֥יל (and perfect) יֹֽפִי׃ (in beauty).

13 בְּעֵ֨דֶן (In Eden) גַּן־ (the garden) אֱלֹהִ֜ים (of God); הָיִ֗יתָ (you were) כָּל־ (with every) אֶ֨בֶן (stone) יְקָרָ֤ה (precious) מְסֻכָתֶ֙ךָ֙ (your covering), אֹ֣דֶם (ruby), פִּטְדָ֞ה (topaz), וְיָהֲלֹ֗ם (and diamond), תַּרְשִׁ֥ישׁ (beryl), שֹׁ֙הַם֙ (onyx), וְיָ֣שְׁפֵ֔ה (and jasper), סַפִּ֣יר (sapphire), נֹ֔פֶךְ (turquoise), וּבָרְקַ֖ת (and emerald), וְזָהָ֑ב (and of gold), מְלֶ֨אכֶת (was the workmanship) תֻּפֶּ֤יךָ (of your timbrels) וּנְקָבֶ֙יךָ֙ (and pipes) בָּ֔ךְ (for you) בְּי֥וֹם (on the day) הִבָּרַאֲךָ֖ (of your creation) כּוֹנָֽנוּ׃ (established).

14 אַ֨תְּ־ (You were) כְּר֔וּב (a cherub) מִמְשַׁ֖ח (anointed) הַסּוֹכֵ֑ךְ (as a guardian); וּנְתַתִּ֗יךָ (and I set you) בְּהַ֨ר (on the mountain) קֹ֤דֶשׁ (of the holiness of) אֱלֹהִים֙ (God); הָיִ֔יתָ (you were) בְּת֥וֹךְ (in the midst) אַבְנֵי־ (of the stones) אֵ֖שׁ (of fire) הִתְהַלָּֽכְתָּ׃ (you walked about).

15 תָּמִ֤ים (Perfect) אַתָּה֙ (you were) בִּדְרָכֶ֔יךָ (in your ways) מִיּ֖וֹם (from the day) הִבָּֽרְאָ֑ךְ (you were created), עַד־ (until) נִמְצָ֥א (was found) עַוְלָ֖תָה (iniquity) בָּֽךְ׃ (in you).

16 בְּרֹ֣ב (With the abundance) רְכֻלָּתְךָ֗ (of your trading) מָל֧וּ (became filled) תוֹכְךָ֛ (your midst) חָמָ֖ס (with violence), וַֽתֶּחֱטָ֑א (and you sinned); וָאֶחַלֶּלְךָ֩ (and I consider you profane) מֵהַ֨ר (banished from the mountain) אֱלֹהִ֤ים (of God). וָֽאַבֶּדְךָ֙ (And I made you depart) כְּר֣וּב (O cherub), הַסֹּכֵ֔ךְ (guardian) מִתּ֖וֹךְ (from the midst) אַבְנֵי־ (of the stones) אֵֽשׁ׃ (of fire).

17 גָּבַ֤הּ (Was lifted up) לִבְּךָ֙ (your heart) בְּיָפְיֶ֔ךָ (in your beauty), שִׁחַ֥תָּ (you corrupted) חָכְמָתְךָ֖ (your wisdom) עַל־ (for the sake) יִפְעָתֶ֑ךָ (of your splendor). עַל־ (Upon) אֶ֣רֶץ (the ground), הִשְׁלַכְתִּ֗יךָ (I cast you) לִפְנֵ֧י (before the faces) מְלָכִ֛ים (of kings), נְתַתִּ֖יךָ (I give you) לְרַ֥אֲוָה (that they might gaze) בָֽךְ׃ (at you).

18 מֵרֹ֣ב (By the multitude) עֲוֺנֶ֗יךָ (of your iniquities), בְּעֶ֙וֶל֙ (with the injustice) רְכֻלָּ֣תְךָ֔ (of your trading); חִלַּ֖לְתָּ (you have profaned) מִקְדָּשֶׁ֑יךָ (your holy places) וָֽאוֹצִא־ (and I have brought forth) אֵ֤שׁ (fire) מִתּֽוֹכְךָ֙ (from your midst) הִ֣יא (it) אֲכָלַ֔תְךָ (has devoured you) וָאֶתֶּנְךָ֤ (and I have given you) לְאֵ֙פֶר֙ (to ashes) עַל־ (upon) הָאָ֔רֶץ (the earth) לְעֵינֵ֖י (before the eyes) כָּל־ (of all) רֹאֶֽיךָ׃ (those looking at you).

19 כָּל־ (All) יוֹדְעֶ֙יךָ֙ (knowing you) בָּֽעַמִּ֔ים (among the peoples) שָׁמְמ֖וּ (are appalled) עָלֶ֑יךָ (over you) בַּלָּה֣וֹת (a horror), הָיִ֔יתָ (you have become) וְאֵינְךָ֖ (and you will be no more) עַד־ (even to) עוֹלָֽם׃פ (forever).

A Prophecy against Sidon

20 וַיְהִ֥י (And came) דְבַר־ (the word) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) אֵלַ֥י (to me) לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying),

21 בֶּן־ (Son) אָדָ֕ם (of man), שִׂ֥ים (set) פָּנֶ֖יךָ (your face) אֶל־ (toward) צִיד֑וֹן (Sidon), וְהִנָּבֵ֖א (and prophesy) עָלֶֽיהָ׃ (against her).

22 וְאָמַרְתָּ֗ (And say), כֹּ֤ה (thus) אָמַר֙ (says) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהוִ֔ה (YHWH); הִנְנִ֤י (Behold, I am) עָלַ֙יִךְ֙ (against you) צִיד֔וֹן (O Sidon); וְנִכְבַּדְתִּ֖י (and I will be glorified) בְּתוֹכֵ֑ךְ (in your midst) וְֽיָדְע֞וּ (and they will know) כִּֽי־ (that) אֲנִ֣י (I am) יְהוָ֗ה (YHWH), בַּעֲשׂ֥וֹתִי (in my making) בָ֛הּ (against her) שְׁפָטִ֖ים (judgments) וְנִקְדַּ֥שְׁתִּי (and I display My holiness) בָֽהּ׃ (against her).

23 וְשִׁלַּחְתִּי־ (And For I will send) בָ֞הּ (against her) דֶּ֤בֶר (pestilence), וָדָם֙ (and blood) בְּח֣וּצוֹתֶ֔יהָ (in her streets); וְנִפְלַ֤ל (and will fall) חָלָל֙ (the slain) בְּתוֹכָ֔הּ (in her midst) בְּחֶ֥רֶב (by the sword) עָלֶ֖יהָ (against her) מִסָּבִ֑יב (on every side); וְיָדְע֖וּ (and they will know) כִּֽי־ (that) אֲנִ֥י (I am) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).

24 וְלֹֽא־ (And not) יִהְיֶ֨ה (will there be) ע֜וֹד (any longer) לְבֵ֣ית (for the house) יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל (of Israel), סִלּ֤וֹן (a brier) מַמְאִיר֙ (bringing malice) וְק֣וֹץ (or a thorn) מַכְאִ֔ב (giving pain) מִכֹּל֙ (from all) סְבִ֣יבֹתָ֔ם (those around them) הַשָּׁאטִ֖ים (who despise) אוֹתָ֑ם (them) וְיָ֣דְע֔וּ (and they will know) כִּ֥י (that) אֲנִ֖י (I am) אֲדֹנָ֥י (the Lord) יְהוִֽה׃ס (YHWH).

The Restoration of Israel
(Jeremiah 30:1–17)

25 כֹּֽה־ (Thus) אָמַר֮ (says) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהוִה֒ (YHWH) בְּקַבְּצִ֣י׀ (In My gathering) אֶת־ (-) בֵּ֣ית (the house) יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל (of Israel) מִן־ (from) הָֽעַמִּים֙ (the peoples) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (whom) נָפֹ֣צוּ (they are scattered), בָ֔ם (among them) וְנִקְדַּ֥שְׁתִּי (and I will show Myself holy) בָ֖ם (among them) לְעֵינֵ֣י (before the eyes) הַגּוֹיִ֑ם (of the nations), וְיָֽשְׁבוּ֙ (and they will dwell) עַל־ (in) אַדְמָתָ֔ם (their own land) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) נָתַ֖תִּי (I gave) לְעַבְדִּ֥י (to My servant) לְיַעֲקֹֽב׃ (Jacob).

26 וְיָשְׁב֣וּ (And they will dwell) עָלֶיהָ֮ (upon it), לָבֶטַח֒ (in safety) וּבָנ֤וּ (and they will build) בָתִּים֙ (houses), וְנָטְע֣וּ (and plant) כְרָמִ֔ים (vineyards); וְיָשְׁב֖וּ (and they will dwell) לָבֶ֑טַח (in safety), בַּעֲשׂוֹתִ֣י (with My making) שְׁפָטִ֗ים (judgments) בְּכֹ֨ל (against all) הַשָּׁאטִ֤ים (those despising) אֹתָם֙ (them) מִסְּבִ֣יבוֹתָ֔ם (from around them) וְיָ֣דְע֔וּ (and they will know) כִּ֛י (that) אֲנִ֥י (I am) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃ס (their God).
