The Restoration of Israel and Judah
(Ezekiel 28:25–26)

1  הַדָּבָר֙ (The word) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) הָיָ֣ה (came) אֶֽל־ (to) יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ (Jeremiah) מֵאֵ֥ת (from) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH), לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 2  כֹּֽה־ (Thus) אָמַ֧ר (speaks) יְהוָ֛ה (YHWH) אֱלֹהֵ֥י (God) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (of Israel), לֵאמֹ֑ר (saying), כְּתָב־ (Write) לְךָ֗ (for yourself) אֵ֧ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הַדְּבָרִ֛ים (the words) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי (I have spoken) אֵלֶ֖יךָ (to you) אֶל־ (in) סֵֽפֶר׃ (a book). 3  כִּ֠י (For), הִנֵּ֨ה (behold), יָמִ֤ים (the days) בָּאִים֙ (are coming), נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH), וְ֠שַׁבְתִּי (when I turn back) אֶת־ (-) שְׁב֨וּת (the captivity) עַמִּ֧י (of My people) יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל (Israel) וִֽיהוּדָ֖ה (and Judah), אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH); וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֗ים (and I will return them) אֶל־ (to) הָאָ֛רֶץ (the land) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) נָתַ֥תִּי (I gave) לַאֲבוֹתָ֖ם (to their fathers), וִֽירֵשֽׁוּהָ׃פ (and they will possess it).

4  וְאֵ֣לֶּה (And these are) הַדְּבָרִ֗ים (the words) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) דִּבֶּ֧ר (spoke) יְהוָ֛ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (concerning) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (Israel) וְאֶל־ (and) יְהוּדָֽה׃ (Judah). 5  כִּי־ (For) כֹה֙ (thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH);

ק֥וֹל (A voice) חֲרָדָ֖ה (of trembling), שָׁמָ֑עְנוּ (we have heard)

פַּ֖חַד (of dread), וְאֵ֥ין (and not) שָׁלֽוֹם׃ (of peace).

6  שַׁאֲלוּ־ (Ask) נָ֣א (now), וּרְא֔וּ (and see)

אִם־ (can) יֹלֵ֖ד (give birth)? זָכָ֑ר (A male)

מַדּוּעַ֩ (Why) רָאִ֨יתִי (have I seen) כָל־ (every) גֶּ֜בֶר (man)

יָדָ֤יו (with his hands) עַל־ (on) חֲלָצָיו֙ (his loins), כַּיּ֣וֹלֵדָ֔ה (like a woman in labor),

וְנֶהֶפְכ֥וּ (have turned) כָל־ (and all) פָּנִ֖ים (faces) לְיֵרָקֽוֹן׃ (pale)?

7  ה֗וֹי (Alas)! כִּ֥י (For) גָד֛וֹל (great is), הַיּ֥וֹם (day) הַה֖וּא (that)

מֵאַ֣יִן (so that none is) כָּמֹ֑הוּ (like it);

וְעֵֽת־ (and a time) צָרָ֥ה (of distress); הִיא֙ (it is) לְיַֽעֲקֹ֔ב (for Jacob)

וּמִמֶּ֖נָּה (from it) יִוָּשֵֽׁעַ׃ (and he will be saved).

8  וְהָיָה֩ (And it will come to pass) בַיּ֨וֹם (day), הַה֜וּא (on that)

נְאֻ֣ם׀ (a declaration) יְהוָ֣ה (of YHWH of) צְבָא֗וֹת (Hosts),

אֶשְׁבֹּ֤ר (that I will break) עֻלּוֹ֙ (his yoke) מֵעַ֣ל (from) צַוָּארֶ֔ךָ (your neck),

וּמוֹסְרוֹתֶ֖יךָ (and your bonds), אֲנַתֵּ֑ק (I will burst)

וְלֹא־ (and no) יַעַבְדוּ־ (will enslave) ב֥וֹ (him) ע֖וֹד (longer) זָרִֽים׃ (strangers).

9  וְעָ֣בְד֔וּ (And they shall serve) אֵ֖ת (-) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) אֱלֹֽהֵיהֶ֑ם (their God),

וְאֵת֙ (and) דָּוִ֣ד (David) מַלְכָּ֔ם (their king),

אֲשֶׁ֥ר (whom) אָקִ֖ים (I will raise up) לָהֶֽם׃ס (for them).

10  וְאַתָּ֡ה (And you) אַל־ (do not), תִּירָא֩ (fear) עַבְדִּ֨י (My servant) יַעֲקֹ֤ב (O Jacob),

נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהֹוָה֙ (of YHWH);

וְאַל־ (and not) תֵּחַ֣ת (be dismayed),

יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (O Israel);

כִּ֠י (for), הִנְנִ֤י (behold, I) מוֹשִֽׁיעֲךָ֙ (I am saving you) מֵֽרָח֔וֹק (from afar),

וְאֶֽת־ (and) זַרְעֲךָ֖ (your seed) מֵאֶ֣רֶץ (from the land) שִׁבְיָ֑ם (of their captivity);

וְשָׁ֧ב (will return), יַעֲקֹ֛ב (and Jacob) וְשָׁקַ֥ט (and have quiet), וְשַׁאֲנַ֖ן (and he shall find rest),

וְאֵ֥ין (and no one) מַחֲרִֽיד׃ (will make him afraid).

11  כִּֽי־ (For) אִתְּךָ֥ (with you) אֲנִ֛י (I am) נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH),

לְהֽוֹשִׁיעֶ֑ךָ (to save you)

כִּי֩ (though) אֶעֱשֶׂ֨ה (I make) כָלָ֜ה (a full end) בְּכָֽל־ (of all) הַגּוֹיִ֣ם׀ (the nations) אֲשֶׁ֧ר (to which) הֲפִצוֹתִ֣יךָ (I have scattered you) שָּׁ֗ם (there)

אַ֤ךְ (yet) אֹֽתְךָ֙ (of you) לֹֽא־ (I will not) אֶעֱשֶׂ֣ה (make) כָלָ֔ה (a full end)

וְיִסַּרְתִּ֙יךָ֙ (and I will discipline you) לַמִּשְׁפָּ֔ט (with justice),

וְנַקֵּ֖ה (unpunished). לֹ֥א (And not) אֲנַקֶּֽךָּ׃פ (I will leave you).

12  כִּ֣י (For) כֹ֥ה (thus) אָמַ֛ר (says) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH),

אָנ֣וּשׁ (Is incurable), לְשִׁבְרֵ֑ךְ (Your breach)

נַחְלָ֖ה (is grievous) מַכָּתֵֽךְ׃ (your wound).

13  אֵֽין־ (There is no one) דָּ֥ן (pleading) דִּינֵ֖ךְ (for your cause),

לְמָז֑וֹר (nor for the wound),

רְפֻא֥וֹת (medicines). תְּעָלָ֖ה (Healing) אֵ֥ין (are no) לָֽךְ׃ (unto you).

14  כָּל־ (All) מְאַהֲבַ֣יִךְ (your lovers) שְׁכֵח֔וּךְ (have forgotten you)

אוֹתָ֖ךְ (you) לֹ֣א (not); יִדְרֹ֑שׁוּ (they do seek)

כִּי֩ (for) מַכַּ֨ת (with the wound) אוֹיֵ֤ב (of an enemy), הִכִּיתִיךְ֙ (I have struck you)

מוּסַ֣ר (the disciplining) אַכְזָרִ֔י (of a cruel one)

עַ֚ל (over) רֹ֣ב (the multitude) עֲוֺנֵ֔ךְ (of your iniquities);

עָצְמ֖וּ (are numerous) חַטֹּאתָֽיִךְ׃ (your sins).

15  מַה־ (Why) תִּזְעַק֙ (do you cry out) עַל־ (concerning) שִׁבְרֵ֔ךְ (your breach)?

אָנ֖וּשׁ (Is incurable) מַכְאֹבֵ֑ךְ (your pain)

עַ֣ל׀ (concerning) רֹ֣ב (the multitude) עֲוֺנֵ֗ךְ (of your iniquities);

עָֽצְמוּ֙ (are numerous), חַטֹּאתַ֔יִךְ (your sins)

עָשִׂ֥יתִי (I have done) אֵ֖לֶּה (these things) לָֽךְ׃ (to you).

16  לָכֵ֞ן (Therefore) כָּל־ (all) אֹכְלַ֙יִךְ֙ (those devouring you) יֵאָכֵ֔לוּ (will be devoured);

וְכָל־ (and all) צָרַ֥יִךְ (your adversaries), כֻּלָּ֖ם (all of them)

בַּשְּׁבִ֣י (into captivity); יֵלֵ֑כוּ (will go)

וְהָי֤וּ (will be) שֹׁאסַ֙יִךְ֙ (and those plundering you) לִמְשִׁסָּ֔ה (as plunder),

וְכָל־ (and all) בֹּזְזַ֖יִךְ (preying upon you) אֶתֵּ֥ן (I will give) לָבַֽז׃ (as prey).

17  כִּי֩ (For) אַעֲלֶ֨ה (for) אֲרֻכָ֥ה (I will bring up) לָ֛ךְ (health) וּמִמַּכּוֹתַ֥יִךְ (and I will heal you), אֶרְפָּאֵ֖ךְ (to you)

נְאֻם־ (from your wounds) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH);

כִּ֤י (for) נִדָּחָה֙ (an outcast), קָ֣רְאוּ (they called) לָ֔ךְ (you)

צִיּ֣וֹן (is Zion), הִ֔יא (This) דֹּרֵ֖שׁ (is searching) אֵ֥ין (no one) לָֽהּ׃ס (for her).

18  כֹּ֣ה׀ (Thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֗ה (YHWH);

הִנְנִי־ (Behold, I) שָׁב֙ (will turn back) שְׁבוּת֙ (the captivity) אָהֳלֵ֣י (of the tents), יַֽעֲק֔וֹב (of Jacob)

וּמִשְׁכְּנֹתָ֖יו (and on his dwelling places); אֲרַחֵ֑ם (I will have compassion)

וְנִבְנְתָ֥ה (will be rebuilt) עִיר֙ (and the city) עַל־ (upon) תִּלָּ֔הּ (its own mound),

וְאַרְמ֖וֹן (and the palace) עַל־ (according to) מִשְׁפָּט֥וֹ (its ordinance) יֵשֵֽׁב׃ (will sit).

19  וְיָצָ֥א (And shall go forth) מֵהֶ֛ם (from them) תּוֹדָ֖ה (thanksgiving)

וְק֣וֹל (and the voice) מְשַׂחֲקִ֑ים (of those being glad);

וְהִרְבִּתִים֙ (and I will multiply them) וְלֹ֣א (and not) יִמְעָ֔טוּ (they will be diminished);

וְהִכְבַּדְתִּ֖ים (and I will glorify them) וְלֹ֥א (and not) יִצְעָֽרוּ׃ (they will be small).

20  וְהָי֤וּ (Will be) בָנָיו֙ (and their children) כְּקֶ֔דֶם (as aforetime),

וַעֲדָת֖וֹ (and their congregation) לְפָנַ֣י (before Me) תִּכּ֑וֹן (will be established)

וּפָ֣קַדְתִּ֔י (and I will punish) עַ֖ל (upon) כָּל־ (all) לֹחֲצָֽיו׃ (those oppressing them).

21  וְהָיָ֨ה (Will be) אַדִּיר֜וֹ (and their noble) מִמֶּ֗נּוּ (from him)

וּמֹֽשְׁלוֹ֙ (and their governor) מִקִּרְבּ֣וֹ (from his midst) יֵצֵ֔א (will come)

וְהִקְרַבְתִּ֖יו (and I will cause him to come near),

וְנִגַּ֣שׁ (and he will draw near) אֵלָ֑י (to Me)

כִּי֩ (for) מִ֨י (who) הוּא־ (is) זֶ֜ה (this) עָרַ֧ב (who has pledged) אֶת־ (-) לִבּ֛וֹ (his heart) לָגֶ֥שֶׁת (to draw near) אֵלַ֖י (to Me)

נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

22  וִהְיִ֥יתֶם (And you⁺ will be) לִ֖י (My) לְעָ֑ם (people),

וְאָ֣נֹכִ֔י (and I) אֶהְיֶ֥ה (will be) לָכֶ֖ם (your⁺) לֵאלֹהִֽים׃ס (God).

23  הִנֵּ֣ה׀ (Behold), סַעֲרַ֣ת (the tempest) יְהוָ֗ה (of YHWH)

חֵמָה֙ (fury), יָֽצְאָ֔ה (has gone forth)

סַ֖עַר (a tempest); מִתְגּוֹרֵ֑ר (journeying out)

עַ֛ל (upon) רֹ֥אשׁ (the head) רְשָׁעִ֖ים (of the wicked) יָחֽוּל׃ (it will twist down).

24  לֹ֣א (Not) יָשׁ֗וּב (will turn back), חֲרוֹן֙ (the fierce) אַף־ (anger) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH)

עַד־ (until) עֲשֹׂת֥וֹ (He has done it)

וְעַד־ (and until) הֲקִימ֖וֹ (He has established) מְזִמּ֣וֹת (the purposes) לִבּ֑וֹ (of His heart);

בְּאַחֲרִ֥ית (in the latter) הַיָּמִ֖ים (days)

תִּתְבּ֥וֹנְנוּ (you⁺ will understand) בָֽהּ׃ (it).
