The LORD spoke to Moses:1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
"Speak to the whole congregation of the Israelites and tell them, 'You must be holy because I, the LORD your God, am holy.2Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy.
Each of you must respect his mother and his father, and you must keep my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.3Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.
Do not turn to idols, and you must not make for yourselves gods of cast metal. I am the LORD your God. 4Turn ye not unto idols, nor make to yourselves molten gods: I am the LORD your God.
"'When you sacrifice a peace offering sacrifice to the LORD, you must sacrifice it so that it is accepted for you.5And if ye offer a sacrifice of peace offerings unto the LORD, ye shall offer it at your own will.
It must be eaten on the day of your sacrifice and on the following day, but what is left over until the third day must be burned up.6It shall be eaten the same day ye offer it, and on the morrow: and if ought remain until the third day, it shall be burnt in the fire.
If, however, it is eaten on the third day, it is spoiled, it will not be accepted,7And if it be eaten at all on the third day, it is abominable; it shall not be accepted.
and the one who eats it will bear his punishment for iniquity because he has profaned what is holy to the LORD. That person will be cut off from his people. 8Therefore every one that eateth it shall bear his iniquity, because he hath profaned the hallowed thing of the LORD: and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
"'When you gather in the harvest of your land, you must not completely harvest the corner of your field, and you must not gather up the gleanings of your harvest.9And when ye reap the harvest of your land, thou shalt not wholly reap the corners of thy field, neither shalt thou gather the gleanings of thy harvest.
You must not pick your vineyard bare, and you must not gather up the fallen grapes of your vineyard. You must leave them for the poor and the foreigner. I am the LORD your God. 10And thou shalt not glean thy vineyard, neither shalt thou gather every grape of thy vineyard; thou shalt leave them for the poor and stranger: I am the LORD your God.
"'You must not steal, you must not tell lies, and you must not deal falsely with your fellow citizen.11Ye shall not steal, neither deal falsely, neither lie one to another.
You must not swear falsely in my name, so that you do not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.12And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I am the LORD.
You must not oppress your neighbor or commit robbery against him. You must not withhold the wages of the hired laborer overnight until morning.13Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.
You must not curse a deaf person or put a stumbling block in front of a blind person. You must fear your God; I am the LORD. 14Thou shalt not curse the deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD.
"'You must not deal unjustly in judgment: you must neither show partiality to the poor nor honor the rich. You must judge your fellow citizen fairly.15Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.
You must not go about as a slanderer among your people. You must not stand idly by when your neighbor's life is at stake. I am the LORD.16Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.
You must not hate your brother in your heart. You must surely reprove your fellow citizen so that you do not incur sin on account of him.17Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
You must not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the children of your people, but you must love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD.18Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD.
You must keep my statutes. You must not allow two different kinds of your animals to breed, you must not sow your field with two different kinds of seed, and you must not wear a garment made of two different kinds of fabric. 19Ye shall keep my statutes. Thou shalt not let thy cattle gender with a diverse kind: thou shalt not sow thy field with mingled seed: neither shall a garment mingled of linen and woollen come upon thee.
"'When a man has sexual intercourse with a woman, although she is a slave woman designated for another man and she has not yet been ransomed, or freedom has not been granted to her, there will be an obligation to pay compensation. They must not be put to death, because she was not free.20And whosoever lieth carnally with a woman, that is a bondmaid, betrothed to an husband, and not at all redeemed, nor freedom given her; she shall be scourged; they shall not be put to death, because she was not free.
He must bring his guilt offering to the LORD at the entrance of the Meeting Tent, a guilt offering ram,21And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, even a ram for a trespass offering.
and the priest is to make atonement for him with the ram of the guilt offering before the LORD for his sin that he has committed, and he will be forgiven of his sin that he has committed. 22And the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering before the LORD for his sin which he hath done: and the sin which he hath done shall be forgiven him.
"'When you enter the land and plant any fruit tree, you must consider its fruit to be forbidden. Three years it will be forbidden to you; it must not be eaten.23And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of.
In the fourth year all its fruit will be holy, praise offerings to the LORD.24But in the fourth year all the fruit thereof shall be holy to praise the LORD withal.
Then in the fifth year you may eat its fruit to add its produce to your harvest. I am the LORD your God. 25And in the fifth year shall ye eat of the fruit thereof, that it may yield unto you the increase thereof: I am the LORD your God.
"'You must not eat anything with the blood still in it. You must not practice either divination or soothsaying.26Ye shall not eat any thing with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times.
You must not round off the corners of the hair on your head or ruin the corners of your beard.27Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.
You must not slash your body for a dead person or incise a tattoo on yourself. I am the LORD.28Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
Do not profane your daughter by making her a prostitute, so that the land does not practice prostitution and become full of lewdness. 29Do not prostitute thy daughter, to cause her to be a whore; lest the land fall to whoredom, and the land become full of wickedness.
"'You must keep my Sabbaths and fear my sanctuary. I am the LORD.30Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
Do not turn to the spirits of the dead and do not seek familiar spirits to become unclean by them. I am the LORD your God.31Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
You must stand up in the presence of the aged, honor the presence of an elder, and fear your God. I am the LORD.32Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.
When a foreigner resides with you in your land, you must not oppress him.33And if a stranger sojourn with thee in your land, ye shall not vex him.
The foreigner who resides with you must be to you like a native citizen among you; so you must love him as yourself, because you were foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.34But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
You must not do injustice in the regulation of measures, whether of length, weight, or volume.35Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment, in meteyard, in weight, or in measure.
You must have honest balances, honest weights, an honest ephah, and an honest hin. I am the LORD your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt.36Just balances, just weights, a just ephah, and a just hin, shall ye have: I am the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt.
You must be sure to obey all my statutes and regulations. I am the LORD.'" 37Therefore shall ye observe all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: I am the LORD.
