| 1Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and tell him, 'Thus says the LORD: "Release my people in order that they may serve me! | 1 he told Moses, "Go to Pharaoh and tell him, 'This is what the LORD says: "Let my people go so they may serve me. |
| 2But if you refuse to release them, then I am going to plague all your territory with frogs. | 2And if you refuse to let them go, then I'm going to strike all your territory with frogs. |
| 3The Nile will swarm with frogs, and they will come up and go into your house, in your bedroom, and on your bed, and into the houses of your servants and your people, and into your ovens and your kneading troughs. | 3The Nile will swarm with frogs. | 12Then Moses and Aaron went out from Pharaoh, and Moses cried to the LORD because of the frogs that he had brought on Pharaoh. | 12Then Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh's presence, and Moses cried out to the LORD about the frogs which he had sent on Pharaoh. |

You are to say to him, 'This is what the LORD says: "Let my people go so they can serve me. |
| 21If you do not release my people, then I am going to send swarms of flies on you and on your servants and on your people and in your houses. The houses of the Egyptians will be full of flies, and even the ground they stand on. | 21But if you don't let my people go, I'll send swarms of insects upon you, your servants, your people, and your households. The houses of Egypt—and even the ground on which they stand—will be filled with swarms of insects. |
| 22But on that day I will mark off the land of Goshen, where my people are staying, so that no swarms of flies will be there, that you may know that I am the LORD in the midst of this land. | 22On that day I'll treat the land of Goshen where my people live differently so that swarms of insects won't be there. As a result, you will know that I the LORD am in the midst of the land. |

| 24The LORD did so; a thick swarm of flies came into Pharaoh's house and into the houses of his servants, and throughout the whole land of Egypt the land was ruined because of the swarms of flies. | 24The LORD did this, and dense swarms of insects came into the house of Pharaoh and into the houses of his servants. | 26But Moses said, "That would not be the right thing to do, for the sacrifices we make to the LORD our God would be an abomination to the Egyptians. If we make sacrifices that are an abomination to the Egyptians right before their eyes, will they not stone us? | 26"It wouldn't be right to sacrifice in this way," Moses replied, "because if we do, we will sacrifice to the LORD our God what is offensive to the Egyptians. If we offer sacrifices that are offensive to the Egyptians in front of them, they'll stone us, won't they? |
| 27We must go on a three-day journey into the desert and sacrifice to the LORD our God, just as he is telling us." | 27We must go a three-day journey into the desert, and we'll offer sacrifices to the LORD our God just as he has told us." |
| 28Pharaoh said, "I will release you so that you may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the desert. Only you must not go very far. | 29Moses said, "I am going to go out from you and pray to the LORD, and the swarms of flies will go away from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people tomorrow. Only do not let Pharaoh deal falsely again by not releasing the people to sacrifice to the LORD." | 29Moses said, "Right now I'm going to leave you, and I'll pray to the LORD that the swarms of insects may depart from Pharaoh, from his officials, and from his people tomorrow. But Pharaoh, don't continue lying by not letting the people go to offer sacrifices to the LORD." |
| 30So Moses went out from Pharaoh and prayed to the LORD, | 30Then Moses left Pharaoh's presence and prayed to the LORD. |
| 31and the LORD did as Moses asked--he removed the swarms of flies from Pharaoh, from his servants, and from his people. Not one remained! | 31The LORD did what Moses asked, and the swarms of insects departed from Pharaoh, his officials, and his people. Not one remained. |
| 32But Pharaoh hardened his heart this time also and did not release the people. | 32But this time also Pharaoh hardened his heart, and he did not let the people go. |
