2	I will declare wise sayings; I will speak mysteries from the past —	I will open my mouth in a parable; I will utter dark sayings from of old,	I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter hidden things, things from of old—

4	We will not hide them from their children, but will tell a future generation the praiseworthy acts of the LORD, his might, and the wondrous works he has performed. 6	so that a future generation — children yet to be born—might know. 7	so that they might put their confidence in God and not forget God’s works, but keep his commands.	so that they should set their hope in God and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments;	Then they would put their trust in God and would not forget his deeds but would keep his commands.

31	God’s anger flared up against them, and he killed some of their best men. 33	He made their days end in futility, their years in sudden disaster.	So he made their days vanish like a breath, and their years in terror.	So he ended their days in futility and their years in terror.
34	When he killed some of them, the rest began to seek him; they repented and searched for God.	When he killed them, they sought him; they repented and sought God earnestly.	Whenever God slew them, they would seek him; they eagerly turned to him again.

38	Yet he was compassionate; he atoned for their iniquity and did not destroy them. He often turned his anger aside and did not unleash all his wrath. Yet he was merciful; he forgave their iniquities and did not destroy them. Time after time he restrained his anger and did not stir up his full wrath.

58	They enraged him with their high places and provoked his jealousy with their carved images.	For they provoked him to anger with their high places; they moved him to jealousy with their idols.	They angered him with their high places; they aroused his jealousy with their idols.
59	God heard and became furious; he completely rejected Israel.	When God heard, he was full of wrath, and he utterly rejected Israel.	When God heard them, he was furious; he rejected Israel completely.
