Psalm 106
NET Parallel ESV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT HEB]
NET BibleEnglish Standard Version
Praise the LORD! Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, and his loyal love endures! 1Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!
Who can adequately recount the LORD's mighty acts, or relate all his praiseworthy deeds? 2Who can utter the mighty deeds of the LORD, or declare all his praise?
How blessed are those who promote justice, and do what is right all the time! 3Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times!
Remember me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people! Pay attention to me, when you deliver, 4Remember me, O LORD, when you show favor to your people; help me when you save them,
so I may see the prosperity of your chosen ones, rejoice along with your nation, and boast along with the people who belong to you. 5that I may look upon the prosperity of your chosen ones, that I may rejoice in the gladness of your nation, that I may glory with your inheritance.
We have sinned like our ancestors; we have done wrong, we have done evil. 6Both we and our fathers have sinned; we have committed iniquity; we have done wickedness.
Our ancestors in Egypt failed to appreciate your miraculous deeds, they failed to remember your many acts of loyal love, and they rebelled at the sea, by the Red Sea. 7Our fathers, when they were in Egypt, did not consider your wondrous works; they did not remember the abundance of your steadfast love, but rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea.
Yet he delivered them for the sake of his reputation, that he might reveal his power. 8Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make known his mighty power.
He shouted at the Red Sea and it dried up; he led them through the deep water as if it were a desert. 9He rebuked the Red Sea, and it became dry, and he led them through the deep as through a desert.
He delivered them from the power of the one who hated them, and rescued them from the power of the enemy. 10So he saved them from the hand of the foe and redeemed them from the power of the enemy.
The water covered their enemies; not even one of them survived. 11And the waters covered their adversaries; not one of them was left.
They believed his promises; they sang praises to him. 12Then they believed his words; they sang his praise.
They quickly forgot what he had done; they did not wait for his instructions. 13But they soon forgot his works; they did not wait for his counsel.
In the wilderness they had an insatiable craving for meat; they challenged God in the desert. 14But they had a wanton craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the desert;
He granted their request, then struck them with a disease. 15he gave them what they asked, but sent a wasting disease among them.
In the camp they resented Moses, and Aaron, the LORD's holy priest. 16When men in the camp were jealous of Moses and Aaron, the holy one of the LORD,
The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan; it engulfed the group led by Abiram. 17the earth opened and swallowed up Dathan, and covered the company of Abiram.
Fire burned their group; the flames scorched the wicked. 18Fire also broke out in their company; the flame burned up the wicked.
They made an image of a calf at Horeb, and worshiped a metal idol. 19They made a calf in Horeb and worshiped a metal image.
They traded their majestic God for the image of an ox that eats grass. 20They exchanged the glory of God for the image of an ox that eats grass.
They rejected the God who delivered them, the one who performed great deeds in Egypt, 21They forgot God, their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt,
amazing feats in the land of Ham, mighty acts by the Red Sea. 22wondrous works in the land of Ham, and awesome deeds by the Red Sea.
He threatened to destroy them, but Moses, his chosen one, interceded with him and turned back his destructive anger. 23Therefore he said he would destroy them— had not Moses, his chosen one, stood in the breach before him, to turn away his wrath from destroying them.
They rejected the fruitful land; they did not believe his promise. 24Then they despised the pleasant land, having no faith in his promise.
They grumbled in their tents; they did not obey the LORD. 25They murmured in their tents, and did not obey the voice of the LORD.
So he made a solemn vow that he would make them die in the desert, 26Therefore he raised his hand and swore to them that he would make them fall in the wilderness,
make their descendants die among the nations, and scatter them among foreign lands. 27and would make their offspring fall among the nations, scattering them among the lands.
They worshiped Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead. 28Then they yoked themselves to the Baal of Peor, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead;
They made the LORD angry by their actions, and a plague broke out among them. 29they provoked the LORD to anger with their deeds, and a plague broke out among them.
Phinehas took a stand and intervened, and the plague subsided. 30Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stayed.
This brought him a reward, an eternal gift. 31And that was counted to him as righteousness from generation to generation forever.
They made him angry by the waters of Meribah, and Moses suffered because of them, 32They angered him at the waters of Meribah, and it went ill with Moses on their account,
for they aroused his temper, and he spoke rashly. 33for they made his spirit bitter, and he spoke rashly with his lips.
They did not destroy the nations, as the LORD had commanded them to do. 34They did not destroy the peoples, as the LORD commanded them,
They mixed in with the nations and learned their ways. 35but they mixed with the nations and learned to do as they did.
They worshiped their idols, which became a snare to them. 36They served their idols, which became a snare to them.
They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons. 37They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons;
They shed innocent blood--the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan. The land was polluted by bloodshed. 38they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood.
They were defiled by their deeds, and unfaithful in their actions. 39Thus they became unclean by their acts, and played the whore in their deeds.
So the LORD was angry with his people and despised the people who belong to him. 40Then the anger of the LORD was kindled against his people, and he abhorred his heritage;
He handed them over to the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them. 41he gave them into the hand of the nations, so that those who hated them ruled over them.
Their enemies oppressed them; they were subject to their authority. 42Their enemies oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their power.
Many times he delivered them, but they had a rebellious attitude, and degraded themselves by their sin. 43Many times he delivered them, but they were rebellious in their purposes and were brought low through their iniquity.
Yet he took notice of their distress, when he heard their cry for help. 44Nevertheless, he looked upon their distress, when he heard their cry.
He remembered his covenant with them, and relented because of his great loyal love. 45For their sake he remembered his covenant, and relented according to the abundance of his steadfast love.
He caused all their conquerors to have pity on them. 46He caused them to be pitied by all those who held them captive.
Deliver us, O LORD, our God! Gather us from among the nations! Then we will give thanks to your holy name, and boast about your praiseworthy deeds. 47Save us, O LORD our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise.
The LORD God of Israel deserves praise, in the future and forevermore. Let all the people say, "We agree! Praise the LORD!" 48Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting! And let all the people say, “Amen!” Praise the LORD!
