The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron: " | 1The LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron: |
When a person has a swelling, scab, or spot on the skin of his body, and it becomes a disease on the skin of his body, he is to be brought to Aaron the priest or to one of his sons, the priests. | 2"When someone has a swelling or a scab or a bright spot on the skin of his body that may become a diseased infection, he must be brought to Aaron the priest or one of his sons, the priests. |
The priest will examine the infection on the skin of his body. If the hair in the infection has turned white and the infection appears to be deeper than the skin of his body, it is a skin disease. After the priest examines him, he must pronounce him unclean. | 3The priest must then examine the infection on the skin of the body, and if the hair in the infection has turned white and the infection appears to be deeper than the skin of the body, then it is a diseased infection, so when the priest examines it he must pronounce the person unclean. |
But if the spot on the skin of his body is white and does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and the hair in it has not turned white, the priest must quarantine the infected person for seven days. | 4"If it is a white bright spot on the skin of his body, but it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and the hair has not turned white, then the priest is to quarantine the person with the infection for seven days. |
The priest will then reexamine him on the seventh day. If he sees that the infection remains unchanged and has not spread on the skin, the priest must quarantine him for another seven days. | 5The priest must then examine it on the seventh day, and if, as far as he can see, the infection has stayed the same and has not spread on the skin, then the priest is to quarantine the person for another seven days. |
The priest will examine him again on the seventh day. If the infection has faded and has not spread on the skin, the priest is to pronounce him clean; it is a scab. The person is to wash his clothes and will become clean. | 6The priest must then examine it again on the seventh day, and if the infection has faded and has not spread on the skin, then the priest is to pronounce the person clean. It is a scab, so he must wash his clothes and be clean. |
But if the scab spreads further on his skin after he has presented himself to the priest for his cleansing, he must present himself again to the priest. | 7If, however, the scab is spreading further on the skin after he has shown himself to the priest for his purification, then he must show himself to the priest a second time. |
The priest will examine him, and if the scab has spread on the skin, then the priest must pronounce him unclean; he has a skin disease." | 8The priest must then examine it, and if the scab has spread on the skin, then the priest is to pronounce the person unclean. It is a disease. |
When a skin disease develops on a person, he is to be brought to the priest. | 9"When someone has a diseased infection, he must be brought to the priest. |
The priest will examine him. If there is a white swelling on the skin that has turned the hair white, and there is a patch of raw flesh in the swelling, | 10The priest will then examine it, and if a white swelling is on the skin, it has turned the hair white, and there is raw flesh in the swelling, |
it is a chronic disease on the skin of his body, and the priest must pronounce him unclean. He need not quarantine him, for he is unclean. | 11it is a chronic disease on the skin of his body, so the priest is to pronounce him unclean. The priest must not merely quarantine him, for he is unclean. |
But if the skin disease breaks out all over the skin so that it covers all the skin of the infected person from his head to his feet so far as the priest can see, | 12If, however, the disease breaks out on the skin so that the disease covers all the skin of the person with the infection from his head to his feet, as far as the priest can see, |
the priest will look, and if the skin disease has covered his entire body, he is to pronounce the infected person clean. Since he has turned totally white, he is clean. | 13the priest must then examine it, and if the disease covers his whole body, he is to pronounce the person with the infection clean. He has turned all white, so he is clean. |
But whenever raw flesh appears on him, he will be unclean. | 14But whenever raw flesh appears in it he will be unclean, |
When the priest examines the raw flesh, he must pronounce him unclean. Raw flesh is unclean; it is a skin disease. | 15so the priest is to examine the raw flesh and pronounce him unclean--it is diseased. |
But if the raw flesh changes and turns white, he must go to the priest. | 16If, however, the raw flesh once again turns white, then he must come to the priest. |
The priest will examine him, and if the infection has turned white, the priest must pronounce the infected person clean; he is clean." | 17The priest will then examine it, and if the infection has turned white, the priest is to pronounce the person with the infection clean--he is clean. |
When a boil appears on the skin of one's body and it heals, | 18"When someone's body has a boil on its skin and it heals, |
and a white swelling or a reddish-white spot develops where the boil was, the person must present himself to the priest. | 19and in the place of the boil there is a white swelling or a reddish white bright spot, he must show himself to the priest. |
The priest will make an examination, and if the spot seems to be beneath the skin and the hair in it has turned white, the priest must pronounce him unclean; it is a skin disease that has broken out in the boil. | 20The priest will then examine it, and if it appears to be deeper than the skin and its hair has turned white, then the priest is to pronounce the person unclean. It is a diseased infection that has broken out in the boil. |
But when the priest examines it, if there is no white hair in it, and it is not beneath the skin but is faded, the priest must quarantine him seven days. | 21If, however, the priest examines it, and there is no white hair in it, it is not deeper than the skin, and it has faded, then the priest is to quarantine him for seven days. |
If it spreads further on the skin, the priest must pronounce him unclean; it is an infection. | 22If it is spreading further on the skin, then the priest is to pronounce him unclean. It is an infection. |
But if the spot remains where it is and does not spread, it is only the scar from the boil. The priest is to pronounce him clean." | 23But if the bright spot stays in its place and has not spread, it is the scar of the boil, so the priest is to pronounce him clean. |
When there is a burn on the skin of one's body produced by fire, and the patch made raw by the burn becomes reddish-white or white, | 24"When a body has a burn on its skin and the raw area of the burn becomes a reddish white or white bright spot, |
the priest is to examine it. If the hair in the spot has turned white and the spot appears to be deeper than the skin, it is a skin disease that has broken out in the burn. The priest must pronounce him unclean; it is a skin disease. | 25the priest must examine it, and if the hair has turned white in the bright spot and it appears to be deeper than the skin, it is a disease that has broken out in the burn. The priest is to pronounce the person unclean. It is a diseased infection. |
But when the priest examines it, if there is no white hair in the spot and it is not beneath the skin but is faded, the priest must quarantine him seven days. | 26If, however, the priest examines it and there is no white hair in the bright spot, it is not deeper than the skin, and it has faded, then the priest is to quarantine him for seven days. |
The priest will reexamine him on the seventh day. If it has spread further on the skin, the priest must pronounce him unclean; it is a skin disease. | 27The priest must then examine it on the seventh day, and if it is spreading further on the skin, then the priest is to pronounce him unclean. It is a diseased infection. |
But if the spot has remained where it was and has not spread on the skin but is faded, it is the swelling from the burn. The priest is to pronounce him clean, for it is only the scar from the burn." | 28But if the bright spot stays in its place, has not spread on the skin, and it has faded, then it is the swelling of the burn, so the priest is to pronounce him clean, because it is the scar of the burn. |
When a man or woman has an infection on the head or chin, | 29"When a man or a woman has an infection on the head or in the beard, |
the priest must examine the infection. If it appears to be deeper than the skin, and the hair in it is yellow and sparse, the priest must pronounce the person unclean. It is a scaly outbreak, a skin disease of the head or chin. | 30the priest is to examine the infection, and if it appears to be deeper than the skin and the hair in it is reddish yellow and thin, then the priest is to pronounce the person unclean. It is scall, a disease of the head or the beard. |
When the priest examines the scaly infection, if it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and there is no black hair in it, the priest must quarantine the person with the scaly infection for seven days. | 31But if the priest examines the scall infection and it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, and there is no black hair in it, then the priest is to quarantine the person with the scall infection for seven days. |
The priest will reexamine the infection on the seventh day. If the scaly outbreak has not spread and there is no yellow hair in it and it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, | 32The priest must then examine the infection on the seventh day, and if the scall has not spread, there is no reddish yellow hair in it, and the scall does not appear to be deeper than the skin, |
the person must shave himself but not shave the scaly area. Then the priest must quarantine the person who has the scaly outbreak for another seven days. | 33then the individual is to shave himself, but he must not shave the area affected by the scall, and the priest is to quarantine the person with the scall for another seven days. |
The priest will examine the scaly outbreak on the seventh day, and if it has not spread on the skin and does not appear to be deeper than the skin, the priest is to pronounce the person clean. He is to wash his clothes, and he will be clean. | 34The priest must then examine the scall on the seventh day, and if the scall has not spread on the skin and it does not appear to be deeper than the skin, then the priest is to pronounce him clean. So he is to wash his clothes and be clean. |
But if the scaly outbreak spreads further on the skin after his cleansing, | 35If, however, the scall spreads further on the skin after his purification, |
the priest is to examine the person. If the scaly outbreak has spread on the skin, the priest does not need to look for yellow hair; the person is unclean. | 36then the priest is to examine it, and if the scall has spread on the skin the priest is not to search further for reddish yellow hair. The person is unclean. |
But if as far as he can see, the scaly outbreak remains unchanged and black hair has grown in it, then it has healed; he is clean. The priest is to pronounce the person clean." | 37If, as far as the priest can see, the scall has stayed the same and black hair has sprouted in it, the scall has been healed; the person is clean. So the priest is to pronounce him clean. |
When a man or a woman has white spots on the skin of the body, | 38"When a man or a woman has bright spots--white bright spots--on the skin of their body, |
the priest is to make an examination. If the spots on the skin of the body are dull white, it is only a rash that has broken out on the skin; the person is clean." | 39the priest is to examine them, and if the bright spots on the skin of their body are faded white, it is a harmless rash that has broken out on the skin. The person is clean. |
If a man loses the hair of his head, he is bald, but he is clean. | 40"When a man's head is bare so that he is balding in back, he is clean. |
Or if he loses the hair at his hairline, he is bald on his forehead, but he is clean. | 41If his head is bare on the forehead so that he is balding in front, he is clean. |
But if there is a reddish-white infection on the bald head or forehead, it is a skin disease breaking out on his head or forehead. | 42But if there is a reddish white infection in the back or front bald area, it is a disease breaking out in his back or front bald area. |
The priest is to examine him, and if the swelling of the infection on his bald head or forehead is reddish-white, like the appearance of a skin disease on his body, | 43The priest is to examine it, and if the swelling of the infection is reddish white in the back or front bald area like the appearance of a disease on the skin of the body, |
the man is afflicted with a skin disease; he is unclean. The priest must pronounce him unclean; the infection is on his head." | 44he is a diseased man. He is unclean. The priest must surely pronounce him unclean because of his infection on his head. |
The person afflicted with an infectious skin disease is to have his clothes torn and his hair hanging loose, and he must cover his mouth and cry out, 'Unclean, unclean!' | 45"As for the diseased person who has the infection, his clothes must be torn, the hair of his head must be unbound, he must cover his mustache, and he must call out 'Unclean! Unclean!' |
He will remain unclean as long as he has the infection; he is unclean. He must live alone in a place outside the camp." | 46The whole time he has the infection he will be continually unclean. He must live in isolation, and his place of residence must be outside the camp. |
If a fabric is contaminated with mildew--in wool or linen fabric, | 47"When a garment has a diseased infection in it, whether a wool or linen garment, |
in the warp or woof of linen or wool, or in leather or anything made of leather-- | 48or in the warp or woof of the linen or the wool, or in leather or anything made of leather, |
and if the contamination is green or red in the fabric, the leather, the warp, the woof, or any leather article, it is a mildew contamination and is to be shown to the priest. | 49if the infection in the garment or leather or warp or woof or any article of leather is yellowish green or reddish, it is a diseased infection and it must be shown to the priest. |
The priest is to examine the contamination and quarantine the contaminated fabric for seven days. | 50The priest is to examine and then quarantine the article with the infection for seven days. |
The priest is to reexamine the contamination on the seventh day. If it has spread in the fabric, the warp, the woof, or the leather, regardless of how it is used, the contamination is harmful mildew; it is unclean. | 51He must then examine the infection on the seventh day. If the infection has spread in the garment, or in the warp, or in the woof, or in the leather--whatever the article into which the leather was made--the infection is a malignant disease. It is unclean. |
He is to burn the fabric, the warp or woof in wool or linen, or any leather article, which is contaminated. Since it is harmful mildew it must be burned up." | 52He must burn the garment or the warp or the woof, whether wool or linen, or any article of leather which has the infection in it. Because it is a malignant disease it must be burned up in the fire. |
When the priest examines it, if the contamination has not spread in the fabric, the warp or woof, or any leather article, | 53But if the priest examines it and the infection has not spread in the garment or in the warp or in the woof or in any article of leather, |
the priest is to order whatever is contaminated to be washed and quarantined for another seven days. | 54the priest is to command that they wash whatever has the infection and quarantine it for another seven days. |
After it has been washed, the priest is to reexamine the contamination. If the appearance of the contaminated article has not changed, it is unclean. Even though the contamination has not spread, you must burn up the fabric. It is a fungus on the front or back of the fabric." | 55The priest must then examine it after the infection has been washed out, and if the infection has not changed its appearance even though the infection has not spread, it is unclean. You must burn it up in the fire. It is a fungus, whether on the back side or front side of the article. |
If the priest examines it, and the contamination has faded after it has been washed, he must cut the contaminated section out of the fabric, the leather, or the warp or woof. | 56But if the priest has examined it and the infection has faded after it has been washed, he is to tear it out of the garment or the leather or the warp or the woof. |
But if it reappears in the fabric, the warp or woof, or any leather article, it has broken out again. You must burn up whatever is contaminated. | 57Then if it still appears again in the garment or the warp or the woof, or in any article of leather, it is an outbreak. Whatever has the infection in it you must burn up in the fire. |
But if the contamination disappears from the fabric, the warp or woof, or any leather article, which have been washed, it is to be washed again, and it will be clean." | 58But the garment or the warp or the woof or any article of leather which you wash and infection disappears from it is to be washed a second time and it will be clean." |
This is the law concerning a mildew contamination in wool or linen fabric, warp or woof, or any leather article, in order to pronounce it clean or unclean." | 59This is the law of the diseased infection in the garment of wool or linen, or the warp or woof, or any article of leather, for pronouncing it clean or unclean. |
