Commandments for Holiness

1And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, 2“Speak to all the congregation of the sons of Israel and say to them: You⁺ shall be holy, for I am holy—YHWH your⁺ God.

3Each one shall fear his mother and his father and keep My Sabbaths. I am YHWH your⁺ God.

4Do not turn to idols and do not make molten gods for yourselves. I am YHWH your⁺ God.

5And if you⁺ offer a sacrifice of peace offerings to YHWH, you⁺ shall offer it for your⁺ acceptance. 6It shall be eaten on the same day of your⁺ sacrificing and on the next day. And if any remains until the third day, it shall be burned in the fire. 7And if any of it is eaten on the third day, it is an abomination; it shall not be accepted. 8And he who eats it shall bear his iniquity because he has profaned the holy thing of YHWH, and that person shall be cut off from his people.

Love Your Neighbor
(Romans 13:8–10)

9And in your⁺ reaping the harvest of your⁺ land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, and the gleanings of your harvest you shall not gather. 10And your vineyard—you shall not glean every grape of your vineyard, nor shall you gather. You shall leave them for the poor and the sojourner. I am YHWH your⁺ God.

11You⁺ shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor deceive one to another.

12and you⁺ shall not swear by My name falsely, nor shall you profane the name of your God. I am YHWH.

13You shall not cheat your neighbor nor rob him.

The wage of a hireling shall not remain with you until morning.

14You shall not curse the deaf, and before the blind you shall not put a stumbling block, and you shall fear your God. I am YHWH.

15You⁺ shall do no injustice in judgment; you shall not lift up the face of the poor, nor honor the face of the mighty; in righteousness you shall judge your neighbor.

16You shall not go about as a slanderer among your people.

You shall not take a stand against the blood of your neighbor. I am YHWH.

17You shall not hate your brother in your heart. Directly rebuke your neighbor so that you will not bear up sin because of him. 18You shall not take vengeance nor bear any grudge against the sons of your people, and you shall love your neighbor as yourself. I am YHWH.

Keep My Statutes

19My statutes you⁺ shall keep: Your livestock you shall not let breed with another kind; your field you shall not sow with mixed seed, and a garment of mixed material shall not go up upon you.

20And if a man lies with a woman, a laying of seed, and she is a maidservant betrothed to a man and has not been redeemed at all, or freedom has not been given her, there must be due punishment. they shall not be put to death, because she was not free. 21And he shall bring his guilt offering to YHWH, to the door of the Tent of Meeting, a ram as a guilt offering. 22And the priest shall make atonement upon him with the ram of the guilt offering before the face of YHWH, upon his sin that he has committed, from his sin that he has committed, and it shall be forgiven for him.

23And when you⁺ come into the land and have planted all kinds of trees for food, then you⁺ shall count as uncircumcised their fruit. Three years it shall be to you⁺ as uncircumcised; It shall not be eaten. 24And in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy—praise offerings to YHWH. 25And in the fifth year you⁺ may eat its fruit, that it may yield to you⁺ its increase. I am YHWH your⁺ God.

26You⁺ shall not eat with the blood.

You⁺ shall not practice divination nor soothsaying.

27You⁺ shall not shave around the sides of your⁺ head, nor shall you destroy the edges of your beard.

28And a cutting for the dead you⁺ shall not make in your⁺ flesh, and a writing of an incision you⁺ shall not put on yourselves. I am YHWH.

29Do not prostitute your daughter by making her practice prostitution, lest the land fall into prostitution and the land become full of wickedness.

30My Sabbaths you⁺ shall keep, and My sanctuary you⁺ shall revere. I am YHWH.

31You⁺ shall not turn to the mediums and to the spiritists; do not seek after them to be defiled by them. I am YHWH your⁺ God.

32Before the face of the gray headed you shall rise and honor the presence of an old man, and you shall fear your God. I am YHWH.

33And if a sojourner dwells with you in your⁺ land, you⁺ shall not oppress him. 34As one born among you⁺ shall be to you⁺ the sojourner who dwells among you⁺, and you shall love him as yourself, for you⁺ were sojourners in the land of Egypt. I am YHWH your⁺ God.

35You⁺ shall not do injustice in judgment in measure, in weight, or in volume. 36Righteous scales, righteous stones, a righteous ephah, and a righteous hin shall be unto you⁺. I am YHWH your⁺ God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt.

37And you⁺ shall observe all My statutes and all My ordinances, and perform them. I am YHWH.”
