Balak Summons Balaam 1 וַיִּסְע֖וּ (And set out) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel) וַֽיַּחֲנוּ֙ (and camped) בְּעַֽרְב֣וֹת (in the plains) מוֹאָ֔ב (of Moab) מֵעֵ֖בֶר (across) לְיַרְדֵּ֥ן (the Jordan) יְרֵחֽוֹ׃ס (from Jericho). 2 וַיַּ֥רְא (And saw) בָּלָ֖ק (Balak) בֶּן־ (son) צִפּ֑וֹר (of Zippor) אֵ֛ת (-) כָּל־ (all) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) עָשָׂ֥ה (had done) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (Israel) לָֽאֱמֹרִֽי׃ (to the Amorite), 3 וַיָּ֨גָר (and was afraid) מוֹאָ֜ב (Moab) מִפְּנֵ֥י (of) הָעָ֛ם (the people) מְאֹ֖ד (exceedingly), כִּ֣י (because) רַב־ (numerous) ה֑וּא (they were). וַיָּ֣קָץ (And was sick with dread) מוֹאָ֔ב (Moab) מִפְּנֵ֖י (because) בְּנֵ֥י (of the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel). 4 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And said) מוֹאָ֜ב (Moab) אֶל־ (to) זִקְנֵ֣י (the elders) מִדְיָ֗ן (of Midian), עַתָּ֞ה (Now) יְלַחֲכ֤וּ (will lick up) הַקָּהָל֙ (this company) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (everything) סְבִ֣יבֹתֵ֔ינוּ (around us), כִּלְחֹ֣ךְ (as licks up) הַשּׁ֔וֹר (an ox) אֵ֖ת (-) יֶ֣רֶק (the green) הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה (of the field). וּבָלָ֧ק (And Balak) בֶּן־ (son) צִפּ֛וֹר (of Zippor) מֶ֥לֶךְ (was king) לְמוֹאָ֖ב (of the Moabites) בָּעֵ֥ת (at the time) הַהִֽוא׃ (that). 5 וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח (And he sent) מַלְאָכִ֜ים (messengers) אֶל־ (to) בִּלְעָ֣ם (Balaam) בֶּן־ (son) בְּע֗וֹר (of Beor) פְּ֠תוֹרָה (at Pethor), אֲשֶׁ֧ר (which is) עַל־ (near) הַנָּהָ֛ר (the River) אֶ֥רֶץ (in the land) בְּנֵי־ (of the sons) עַמּ֖וֹ (of his people), לִקְרֹא־ (to call) ל֑וֹ (him) לֵאמֹ֗ר (saying), הִ֠נֵּה (Behold), עַ֣ם (a people) יָצָ֤א (has come) מִמִּצְרַ֙יִם֙ (from Egypt). הִנֵּ֤ה (Behold), כִסָּה֙ (he has covered) אֶת־ (-) עֵ֣ין (the eye) הָאָ֔רֶץ (of the land) וְה֥וּא (and he) יֹשֵׁ֖ב (is dwelling) מִמֻּלִֽי׃ (next to me). 6 וְעַתָּה֩ (And now) לְכָה־ (come) נָּ֨א (please), אָֽרָה־ (curse) לִּ֜י (for me) אֶת־ (-) הָעָ֣ם (the people) הַזֶּ֗ה (this), כִּֽי־ (for) עָצ֥וּם (too mighty) הוּא֙ (they are) מִמֶּ֔נִּי (for me). אוּלַ֤י (Perhaps) אוּכַל֙ (I will be able) נַכֶּה־ (to strike) בּ֔וֹ (them) וַאֲגָרְשֶׁ֖נּוּ (and drive them out) מִן־ (of) הָאָ֑רֶץ (the land). כִּ֣י (For) יָדַ֗עְתִּי (I know that) אֵ֤ת (-) אֲשֶׁר־ (whom) תְּבָרֵךְ֙ (you bless) מְבֹרָ֔ךְ (is blessed), וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר (and whom) תָּאֹ֖ר (you curse) יוּאָֽר׃ (is cursed). 7 וַיֵּ֨לְכ֜וּ (And departed) זִקְנֵ֤י (the elders) מוֹאָב֙ (of Moab) וְזִקְנֵ֣י (and the elders) מִדְיָ֔ן (of Midian) וּקְסָמִ֖ים (and with the diviner’s fee) בְּיָדָ֑ם (in their hands). וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ (And they came) אֶל־ (to) בִּלְעָ֔ם (Balaam) וַיְדַבְּר֥וּ (and spoke) אֵלָ֖יו (to him) דִּבְרֵ֥י (the words) בָלָֽק׃ (of Balak). 8 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (And he said) אֲלֵיהֶ֗ם (to them) לִ֤ינוּ (Lodge) פֹה֙ (here) הַלַּ֔יְלָה (the night), וַהֲשִׁבֹתִ֤י (and I will bring back) אֶתְכֶם֙ (to you⁺) דָּבָ֔ר (word) כַּאֲשֶׁ֛ר (as) יְדַבֵּ֥ר (speaks) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֵלָ֑י (to me). וַיֵּשְׁב֥וּ (And stayed) שָׂרֵֽי־ (the princes) מוֹאָ֖ב (of Moab) עִם־ (with) בִּלְעָֽם׃ (Balaam). 9 וַיָּבֹ֥א (And came) אֱלֹהִ֖ים (God) אֶל־ (to) בִּלְעָ֑ם (Balaam) וַיֹּ֕אמֶר (and said), מִ֛י (Who are) הָאֲנָשִׁ֥ים (the men) הָאֵ֖לֶּה (these) עִמָּֽךְ׃ (with you)? 10 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר (And said) בִּלְעָ֖ם (Balaam) אֶל־ (to) הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים (God), בָּלָ֧ק (Balak) בֶּן־ (son) צִפֹּ֛ר (of Zippor), מֶ֥לֶךְ (king) מוֹאָ֖ב (of Moab), שָׁלַ֥ח (has sent) אֵלָֽי׃ (to me): 11 הִנֵּ֤ה (Behold), הָעָם֙ (a people) הַיֹּצֵ֣א (has come out) מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם (of Egypt), וַיְכַ֖ס (and have covered) אֶת־ (-) עֵ֣ין (the eye) הָאָ֑רֶץ (of the land). עַתָּ֗ה (Now) לְכָ֤ה (come) קָֽבָה־ (curse) לִּי֙ (for me) אֹת֔וֹ (them). אוּלַ֥י (Perhaps) אוּכַ֛ל (I will be able) לְהִלָּ֥חֶם (to overpower) בּ֖וֹ (them) וְגֵרַשְׁתִּֽיו׃ (and drive them out). 12 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (And said) אֱלֹהִים֙ (God) אֶל־ (to) בִּלְעָ֔ם (Balaam), לֹ֥א (Not) תֵלֵ֖ךְ (you shall go) עִמָּהֶ֑ם (with them). לֹ֤א (Not) תָאֹר֙ (you shall curse) אֶת־ (-) הָעָ֔ם (the people), כִּ֥י (for) בָר֖וּךְ (blessed) הֽוּא׃ (it is). 13 וַיָּ֤קָם (And rose) בִּלְעָם֙ (Balaam) בַּבֹּ֔קֶר (in the morning) וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (and said) אֶל־ (to) שָׂרֵ֣י (the princes) בָלָ֔ק (of Balak), לְכ֖וּ (Go back) אֶֽל־ (to) אַרְצְכֶ֑ם (your⁺ land), כִּ֚י (for) מֵאֵ֣ן (has refused) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH) לְתִתִּ֖י (to give me permission) לַהֲלֹ֥ךְ (to go) עִמָּכֶֽם׃ (with you⁺). 14 וַיָּק֙וּמוּ֙ (And rose) שָׂרֵ֣י (the princes) מוֹאָ֔ב (of Moab) וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ (and went) אֶל־ (to) בָּלָ֑ק (Balak) וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ (and said), מֵאֵ֥ן (Refuses) בִּלְעָ֖ם (Balaam) הֲלֹ֥ךְ (to come) עִמָּֽנוּ׃ (with us). 15 וַיֹּ֥סֶף (And added) ע֖וֹד (yet) בָּלָ֑ק (Balak) שְׁלֹ֣חַ (to send) שָׂרִ֔ים (princes), רַבִּ֥ים (more numerous) וְנִכְבָּדִ֖ים (and more honorable) מֵאֵֽלֶּה׃ (than these). 16 וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ (And they came) אֶל־ (to) בִּלְעָ֑ם (Balaam) וַיֹּ֣אמְרוּ (and said) ל֗וֹ (to him), כֹּ֤ה (Thus) אָמַר֙ (says) בָּלָ֣ק (Balak) בֶּן־ (son) צִפּ֔וֹר (of Zippor): אַל־ (Nothing), נָ֥א (please), תִמָּנַ֖ע (let hinder you) מֵהֲלֹ֥ךְ (from coming) אֵלָֽי׃ (to me). 17 כִּֽי־ (For) כַבֵּ֤ד (honoring) אֲכַבֶּדְךָ֙ (I will greatly honor you) מְאֹ֔ד (exceedingly), וְכֹ֛ל (and) אֲשֶׁר־ (whatever) תֹּאמַ֥ר (you say) אֵלַ֖י (to me) אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֑ה (I will do). וּלְכָה־ (Therefore come), נָּא֙ (please), קָֽבָה־ (curse) לִּ֔י (for me) אֵ֖ת (-) הָעָ֥ם (the people) הַזֶּֽה׃ (this). 18 וַיַּ֣עַן (And answered) בִּלְעָ֗ם (Balaam) וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (and said) אֶל־ (to) עַבְדֵ֣י (the servants) בָלָ֔ק (of Balak), אִם־ (Though) יִתֶּן־ (were to give) לִ֥י (to me) בָלָ֛ק (Balak) מְלֹ֥א (the fullness) בֵית֖וֹ (of his house) כֶּ֣סֶף (in silver) וְזָהָ֑ב (and gold), לֹ֣א (not) אוּכַ֗ל (I could) לַעֲבֹר֙ (go beyond) אֶת־ (-) פִּי֙ (the word) יְהוָ֣ה (of YHWH) אֱלֹהָ֔י (my God) לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת (to do) קְטַנָּ֖ה (less) א֥וֹ (or) גְדוֹלָֽה׃ (more). 19 וְעַתָּ֗ה (And now) שְׁב֨וּ (stay), נָ֥א (please), בָזֶ֛ה (in this place) גַּם־ (also) אַתֶּ֖ם (you⁺) הַלָּ֑יְלָה (tonight), וְאֵ֣דְעָ֔ה (that I may know) מַה־ (what) יֹּסֵ֥ף (more) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) דַּבֵּ֥ר (will speak) עִמִּֽי׃ (to me). 20 וַיָּבֹ֨א (And came) אֱלֹהִ֥ים׀ (God) אֶל־ (to) בִּלְעָם֮ (Balaam) לַיְלָה֒ (at night) וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (and said) ל֗וֹ (to him), אִם־ (If) לִקְרֹ֤א (to call) לְךָ֙ (you) בָּ֣אוּ (have come) הָאֲנָשִׁ֔ים (the men), ק֖וּם (rise) לֵ֣ךְ (and go) אִתָּ֑ם (with them). וְאַ֗ךְ (And only) אֶת־ (-) הַדָּבָ֛ר (the word) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) אֲדַבֵּ֥ר (I speak) אֵלֶ֖יךָ (to you), אֹת֥וֹ (that) תַעֲשֶֽׂה׃ (shall you do). 21 וַיָּ֤קָם (And rose) בִּלְעָם֙ (Balaam) בַּבֹּ֔קֶר (in the morning) וַֽיַּחֲבֹ֖שׁ (and saddled) אֶת־ (-) אֲתֹנ֑וֹ (his donkey) וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ (and went) עִם־ (with) שָׂרֵ֥י (the princes) מוֹאָֽב׃ (of Moab). The Angel and Balaam’s Donkey 22 וַיִּֽחַר־ (And was kindled) אַ֣ף (the anger) אֱלֹהִים֮ (of God) כִּֽי־ (because) הוֹלֵ֣ךְ (went) הוּא֒ (he), וַיִּתְיַצֵּ֞ב (and took His stand) מַלְאַ֧ךְ (the angel) יְהוָ֛ה (of YHWH) בַּדֶּ֖רֶךְ (in the way) לְשָׂטָ֣ן (as an adversary) ל֑וֹ (against him). וְהוּא֙ (And he) רֹכֵ֣ב (was riding) עַל־ (on) אֲתֹנ֔וֹ (his donkey), וּשְׁנֵ֥י (and two) נְעָרָ֖יו (of his servants) עִמּֽוֹ׃ (with him). 23 וַתֵּ֣רֶא (And saw) הָאָתוֹן֩ (the donkey) אֶת־ (-) מַלְאַ֨ךְ (the angel) יְהוָ֜ה (of YHWH) נִצָּ֣ב (standing) בַּדֶּ֗רֶךְ (in the way), וְחַרְבּ֤וֹ (and his sword) שְׁלוּפָה֙ (drawn) בְּיָד֔וֹ (in his hand), וַתֵּ֤ט (and turned aside) הָֽאָתוֹן֙ (the donkey) מִן־ (out) הַדֶּ֔רֶךְ (of the way) וַתֵּ֖לֶךְ (and went) בַּשָּׂדֶ֑ה (into the field). וַיַּ֤ךְ (And struck) בִּלְעָם֙ (Balaam) אֶת־ (-) הָ֣אָת֔וֹן (the donkey) לְהַטֹּתָ֖הּ (to return her) הַדָּֽרֶךְ׃ (to the road). 24 וַֽיַּעֲמֹד֙ (And stood) מַלְאַ֣ךְ (the angel) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH) בְּמִשְׁע֖וֹל (in a narrow passage) הַכְּרָמִ֑ים (of the vineyards), גָּדֵ֥ר (with a wall) מִזֶּ֖ה (on this side) וְגָדֵ֥ר (and a wall) מִזֶּֽה׃ (on that side). 25 וַתֵּ֨רֶא (And saw) הָאָת֜וֹן (the donkey) אֶת־ (-) מַלְאַ֣ךְ (the angel) יְהוָ֗ה (of YHWH), וַתִּלָּחֵץ֙ (and she pushed herself) אֶל־ (against) הַקִּ֔יר (the wall) וַתִּלְחַ֛ץ (and crushed) אֶת־ (-) רֶ֥גֶל (the foot) בִּלְעָ֖ם (of Balaam) אֶל־ (against) הַקִּ֑יר (the wall), וַיֹּ֖סֶף (and again) לְהַכֹּתָֽהּ׃ (he struck her). 26 וַיּ֥וֹסֶף (And added), מַלְאַךְ־ (the angel) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) עֲב֑וֹר (to pass over) וַֽיַּעֲמֹד֙ (and stood) בְּמָק֣וֹם (in a place) צָ֔ר (narrow), אֲשֶׁ֛ר (where there was) אֵֽין־ (no) דֶּ֥רֶךְ (way) לִנְט֖וֹת (to turn aside) יָמִ֥ין (to the right hand) וּשְׂמֹֽאול׃ (or to the left). 27 וַתֵּ֤רֶא (And saw) הָֽאָתוֹן֙ (the donkey) אֶת־ (-) מַלְאַ֣ךְ (the angel) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH), וַתִּרְבַּ֖ץ (and she lay down) תַּ֣חַת (under) בִּלְעָ֑ם (Balaam). וַיִּֽחַר־ (And was kindled) אַ֣ף (the anger) בִּלְעָ֔ם (of Balaam), וַיַּ֥ךְ (and he struck) אֶת־ (-) הָאָת֖וֹן (the donkey) בַּמַּקֵּֽל׃ (with his staff). 28 וַיִּפְתַּ֥ח (And opened) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) פִּ֣י (the mouth) הָאָת֑וֹן (of the donkey), וַתֹּ֤אמֶר (and she said) לְבִלְעָם֙ (to Balaam), מֶה־ (What) עָשִׂ֣יתִֽי (have I done) לְךָ֔ (to you) כִּ֣י (that) הִכִּיתַ֔נִי (you have struck me) זֶ֖ה (these) שָׁלֹ֥שׁ (three) רְגָלִֽים׃ (times)? 29 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (And said) בִּלְעָם֙ (Balaam) לָֽאָת֔וֹן (to the donkey), כִּ֥י (Because) הִתְעַלַּ֖לְתְּ (you have acted mockingly) בִּ֑י (with me)! ל֤וּ (Oh) יֶשׁ־ (I wish there were) חֶ֙רֶב֙ (a sword) בְּיָדִ֔י (in my hand), כִּ֥י (for) עַתָּ֖ה (now) הֲרַגְתִּֽיךְ׃ (I would kill you)! 30 וַתֹּ֨אמֶר (And said) הָאָת֜וֹן (the donkey) אֶל־ (to) בִּלְעָ֗ם (Balaam), הֲלוֹא֩ (Am not) אָנֹכִ֨י (I) אֲתֹֽנְךָ֜ (your donkey), אֲשֶׁר־ (which) רָכַ֣בְתָּ (you have ridden) עָלַ֗י (on me) מֵעֽוֹדְךָ֙ (always) עַד־ (until) הַיּ֣וֹם (the day) הַזֶּ֔ה (this)? הַֽהַסְכֵּ֣ן (Is this the custom) הִסְכַּ֔נְתִּי (I am accustomed) לַעֲשׂ֥וֹת (to do) לְךָ֖ (to you) כֹּ֑ה (acting this way)? וַיֹּ֖אמֶר (And he said), לֹֽא׃ (No). 31 וַיְגַ֣ל (And opened) יְהוָה֮ (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) עֵינֵ֣י (the eyes) בִלְעָם֒ (of Balaam), וַיַּ֞רְא (and he saw) אֶת־ (-) מַלְאַ֤ךְ (the angel) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH) נִצָּ֣ב (standing) בַּדֶּ֔רֶךְ (in the way), וְחַרְבּ֥וֹ (and his sword) שְׁלֻפָ֖ה (drawn) בְּיָד֑וֹ (in his hand); וַיִּקֹּ֥ד (and he bowed his head) וַיִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ (and fell flat) לְאַפָּֽיו׃ (on his face). 32 וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (And said) אֵלָיו֙ (to him) מַלְאַ֣ךְ (the angel) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH), עַל־ (On account) מָ֗ה (of what) הִכִּ֙יתָ֙ (have you struck) אֶת־ (-) אֲתֹ֣נְךָ֔ (your donkey) זֶ֖ה (these) שָׁל֣וֹשׁ (three) רְגָלִ֑ים (times)? הִנֵּ֤ה (Behold), אָנֹכִי֙ (I) יָצָ֣אתִי (have come out) לְשָׂטָ֔ן (to stand against you), כִּֽי־ (because) יָרַ֥ט (is perverse) הַדֶּ֖רֶךְ (your way) לְנֶגְדִּֽי׃ (before me). 33 וַתִּרְאַ֙נִי֙ (And saw Me) הָֽאָת֔וֹן (the donkey) וַתֵּ֣ט (and turned aside) לְפָנַ֔י (before my face) זֶ֖ה (these) שָׁלֹ֣שׁ (three) רְגָלִ֑ים (times). אוּלַי֙ (If not) נָטְתָ֣ה (she had turned aside) מִפָּנַ֔י (from me), כִּ֥י (surely) עַתָּ֛ה (by now) גַּם־ (also) אֹתְכָ֥ה (you) הָרַ֖גְתִּי (I would have killed), וְאוֹתָ֥הּ (and her) הֶחֱיֵֽיתִי׃ (let live). 34 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And said) בִּלְעָ֜ם (Balaam) אֶל־ (to) מַלְאַ֤ךְ (the angel) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH), חָטָ֔אתִי (I have sinned), כִּ֚י (for) לֹ֣א (not) יָדַ֔עְתִּי (I did know) כִּ֥י (that) אַתָּ֛ה (you) נִצָּ֥ב (stood) לִקְרָאתִ֖י (against me) בַּדָּ֑רֶךְ (in the road). וְעַתָּ֛ה (And now), אִם־ (if) רַ֥ע (it is evil) בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ (in your eyes), אָשׁ֥וּבָה (I will turn back) לִּֽי׃ (by myself). 35 וַיֹּאמֶר֩ (And said) מַלְאַ֨ךְ (the angel) יְהוָ֜ה (of YHWH) אֶל־ (to) בִּלְעָ֗ם (Balaam), לֵ֚ךְ (Go) עִם־ (with) הָ֣אֲנָשִׁ֔ים (the men), וְאֶ֗פֶס (and only) אֶת־ (-) הַדָּבָ֛ר (the word) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) אֲדַבֵּ֥ר (I speak) אֵלֶ֖יךָ (to you) אֹת֣וֹ (-) תְדַבֵּ֑ר (shall you speak). וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ (And went) בִּלְעָ֖ם (Balaam) עִם־ (with) שָׂרֵ֥י (the princes) בָלָֽק׃ (of Balak). 36 וַיִּשְׁמַ֥ע (And heard) בָּלָ֖ק (Balak) כִּ֣י (that) בָ֣א (was coming), בִלְעָ֑ם (Balaam) וַיֵּצֵ֨א (and he went out) לִקְרָאת֜וֹ (to meet him) אֶל־ (at) עִ֣יר (the city) מוֹאָ֗ב (of Moab), אֲשֶׁר֙ (which is) עַל־ (on) גְּב֣וּל (the border) אַרְנֹ֔ן (of Arnon), אֲשֶׁ֖ר (which is) בִּקְצֵ֥ה (the boundary) הַגְּבֽוּל׃ (of the territory). 37 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And said) בָּלָ֜ק (Balak) אֶל־ (to) בִּלְעָ֗ם (Balaam), הֲלֹא֩ (Was it not that) שָׁלֹ֨חַ (sending) שָׁלַ֤חְתִּי (I sent) אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ (to you) לִקְרֹא־ (to call) לָ֔ךְ (for you)? לָ֥מָּה (Why) לֹא־ (not) הָלַ֖כְתָּ (did you come) אֵלָ֑י (to me)? הַֽאֻמְנָ֔ם (Truly am) לֹ֥א (not) אוּכַ֖ל (I able) כַּבְּדֶֽךָ׃ (to honor you)? 38 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And said) בִּלְעָ֜ם (Balaam) אֶל־ (to) בָּלָ֗ק (Balak), הִֽנֵּה־ (Behold), בָ֙אתִי֙ (I have come) אֵלֶ֔יךָ (to you); עַתָּ֕ה (now) הֲיָכ֥וֹל (being able) אוּכַ֖ל (am I able) דַּבֵּ֣ר (to say) מְא֑וּמָה (anything)? הַדָּבָ֗ר (The word) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (which) יָשִׂ֧ים (puts) אֱלֹהִ֛ים (God) בְּפִ֖י (in my mouth), אֹת֥וֹ (that) אֲדַבֵּֽר׃ (I must speak). 39 וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ (And went) בִּלְעָ֖ם (Balaam) עִם־ (with) בָּלָ֑ק (Balak), וַיָּבֹ֖אוּ (and they came) קִרְיַ֥ת (to Kiriath-) חֻצֽוֹת׃ (huzoth). 40 וַיִּזְבַּ֥ח (And offered) בָּלָ֖ק (Balak) בָּקָ֣ר (oxen) וָצֹ֑אן (and sheep), וַיְשַׁלַּ֣ח (and he sent some) לְבִלְעָ֔ם (to Balaam) וְלַשָּׂרִ֖ים (and to the princes) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who were) אִתּֽוֹ׃ (with him). 41 וַיְהִ֣י (And it was) בַבֹּ֔קֶר (the next day) וַיִּקַּ֤ח (that took) בָּלָק֙ (Balak) אֶת־ (-) בִּלְעָ֔ם (Balaam), וַֽיַּעֲלֵ֖הוּ (and brought him up) בָּמ֣וֹת (into) בָּ֑עַל (Bamoth-baal) וַיַּ֥רְא (that he might observe) מִשָּׁ֖ם (from there) קְצֵ֥ה (the extremity) הָעָֽם׃ (of the people).
