Ἀδελφοί
ἡ
μὲν
εὐδοκία
τῆς
ἐμῆς
καρδίας
καὶ
ἡ
δέησις
πρὸς
τὸν
Θεὸν
ὑπὲρ
αὐτῶν
εἰς
σωτηρίαν
Brothers,
my
heart’s
desire
and
prayer
to
God
for
the Israelites
is for
their salvation.
Brethren,
my
heart's
desire
and
prayer
to
God
for
Israel
is,
that
they might be saved.
2
μαρτυρῶ
γὰρ
αὐτοῖς
ὅτι
ζῆλον
Θεοῦ
ἔχουσιν
ἀλλ’
οὐ
κατ’
ἐπίγνωσιν
For
I testify
about them
that
they are
zealous
for God,
but
not
on the basis of
knowledge.
For
I bear
them
record
that
they have
a zeal
of God,
but
not
according
to knowledge.
3
ἀγνοοῦντες
γὰρ
τὴν
τοῦ
Θεοῦ
δικαιοσύνην
καὶ
τὴν
ἰδίαν
[δικαιοσύνην]
ζητοῦντες
στῆσαι
τῇ
δικαιοσύνῃ
τοῦ
Θεοῦ
οὐχ
ὑπετάγησαν
Because
they were ignorant
of God’s
righteousness
and
sought
to establish
their
own,
they did not submit
to
God’s
righteousness.
For
they being ignorant
of God's
righteousness,
and
going about
to establish
their own
righteousness,
have
not
submitted themselves
unto the righteousness
of God.
4
τέλος
γὰρ
νόμου
Χριστὸς
εἰς
δικαιοσύνην
παντὶ
τῷ
πιστεύοντι
For
Christ is
the end
of the law,
to bring
righteousness
to everyone
who
believes.
For
Christ
[is] the end
of the law
for
righteousness
to every one
that believeth.
5
Μωϋσῆς
γὰρ
γράφει
ὅτι
τὴν
δικαιοσύνην
τὴν
ἐκ
‹τοῦ›
νόμου
[ὅτι]
Ὁ
ποιήσας
[αὐτὰ]
ἄνθρωπος
ζήσεται
ἐν
αὐτῇ
For
concerning the
righteousness
that
is by
the
law,
Moses
writes:
“The
man who
does
these things
will live
by
them.”
For
Moses
describeth
the righteousness
which
is of
the law,
That
the man
which doeth
those things
shall live
by
them.
6
ἡ
δὲ
ἐκ
πίστεως
δικαιοσύνη
οὕτως
λέγει
Μὴ
εἴπῃς
ἐν
τῇ
καρδίᾳ
σου
Τίς
ἀναβήσεται
εἰς
τὸν
οὐρανόν
τοῦτ’
ἔστιν
Χριστὸν
καταγαγεῖν
But
the
righteousness
that is by
faith
says:
“
Do not say
in
your
heart,
‘Who
will ascend
into
heaven?’
(that
is,
to bring Christ down)
But
the righteousness
which is of
faith
speaketh
on this wise,
Say
not
in
thine
heart,
Who
shall ascend
into
heaven?
(that is,
to bring
Christ
down
[from above]:)
7
ἤ
Τίς
καταβήσεται
εἰς
τὴν
ἄβυσσον
τοῦτ’
ἔστιν
Χριστὸν
ἐκ
νεκρῶν
ἀναγαγεῖν
or,
‘Who
will descend
into
the
Abyss?’
(that
is,
to bring
Christ
up from
the dead).
Or,
Who
shall descend
into
the deep?
(that is,
to bring up
Christ
again
from
the dead.
)
8
Ἀλλὰ
τί
λέγει
Ἐγγύς
σου
τὸ
ῥῆμά
ἐστιν
ἐν
τῷ
στόματί
σου
καὶ
ἐν
τῇ
καρδίᾳ
σου
τοῦτ’
ἔστιν
τὸ
ῥῆμα
τῆς
πίστεως
ὃ
κηρύσσομεν
But
what
does it say?
“The
word
is
near
you;
it is in
your
mouth
and
in
your
heart,”
that
is,
the
word
of faith
we are proclaiming:
But
what
saith it?
The word
is
nigh
thee,
[even] in
thy
mouth,
and
in
thy
heart:
that is,
the word
of faith,
which
we preach;
9
ὅτι
ἐὰν
ὁμολογήσῃς
(τὸ
ῥῆμα)
ἐν
τῷ
στόματί
σου
(ὅτι)
Κύριον
Ἰησοῦν
καὶ
πιστεύσῃς
ἐν
τῇ
καρδίᾳ
σου
ὅτι
ὁ
Θεὸς
αὐτὸν
ἤγειρεν
ἐκ
νεκρῶν
σωθήσῃ
that
if
you confess
with
your
mouth,
“Jesus
is Lord,
and
believe
in
your
heart
that
God
raised
Him
from
the dead,
you will be saved.
That
if
thou shalt confess
with
thy
mouth
the Lord
Jesus,
and
shalt believe
in
thine
heart
that
God
hath raised
him
from
the dead,
thou shalt be saved.
10
καρδίᾳ
γὰρ
πιστεύεται
εἰς
δικαιοσύνην
στόματι
δὲ
ὁμολογεῖται
εἰς
σωτηρίαν
For
with your heart
you believe
and are
justified,
and
with your mouth
you confess
and are
saved.
For
with the heart
man believeth
unto
righteousness;
and
with the mouth
confession is made
unto
salvation.
11
Λέγει
γὰρ
ἡ
γραφή
Πᾶς
ὁ
πιστεύων
ἐπ’
αὐτῷ
οὐ
καταισχυνθήσεται
It is just as
the
Scripture
says:
“Anyone
who
believes
in
Him
will never
be put to shame.”
For
the scripture
saith,
Whosoever
believeth
on
him
shall
not
be ashamed.
12
οὐ
γάρ
ἐστιν
διαστολὴ
Ἰουδαίου

καὶ
Ἕλληνος
ὁ
γὰρ
αὐτὸς
Κύριος
πάντων
πλουτῶν
εἰς
πάντας
τοὺς
ἐπικαλουμένους
αὐτόν
For
there is
no
difference
between
Jew
and
Greek:
The
same
Lord
is Lord of all,
and gives richly
to
all
who
call
on Him,
For
there is
no
difference
between
the Jew
and
the Greek:
for
the same
Lord
over all
is rich
unto
all
that call upon
him.
13
Πᾶς
γὰρ
ὃς
ἂν
ἐπικαλέσηται
τὸ
ὄνομα
Κυρίου
σωθήσεται
for,
“Everyone who
calls on
the
name
of the Lord
will be saved.”
For
whosoever
shall call upon
the name
of the Lord
shall be saved.
14
Πῶς
οὖν
ἐπικαλέσωνται
εἰς
ὃν
οὐκ
ἐπίστευσαν
πῶς
δὲ
πιστεύσωσιν
οὗ
οὐκ

πῶς

χωρὶς
κηρύσσοντος
How
then
can they call
on
the One
in whom they have not believed?
And
how
can they believe in the One
of whom
they have not heard?
And
how
can they hear
without
someone to preach?
How
then
shall they call on
him in
whom
they have
not
believed?
and
how
shall they believe in
him of whom
they have
not
heard?
and
how
shall they hear
without
a preacher?
15
πῶς
δὲ
κηρύξωσιν
ἐὰν
μὴ
ἀποσταλῶσιν
καθὼς*
γέγραπται
Ὡς
ὡραῖοι
οἱ

⧼τῶν
εὐαγγελιζομένων
εἰρήνην⧽
τῶν
εὐαγγελιζομένων
‹τὰ›
ἀγαθά
And
how
can they preach
unless
they are sent?
As
it is written:
“How
beautiful are
the
feet
of those who
bring good news!”
And
how
shall they preach,
except
they be sent?
as
it is written,
How
beautiful
are the feet of them
that preach the gospel
of peace,
and bring glad tidings
of good things!
16
Ἀλλ’
οὐ
πάντες
ὑπήκουσαν
τῷ
εὐαγγελίῳ
Ἠσαΐας
γὰρ
λέγει
Κύριε
τίς
ἐπίστευσεν
τῇ
ἀκοῇ
ἡμῶν
But
not
all of them
welcomed
the
good news.
For
Isaiah
says,
“Lord,
who
has believed
our
message?”
But
they have
not
all
obeyed
the gospel.
For
Esaias
saith,
Lord,
who
hath believed
our
report?
17
ἄρα
ἡ
πίστις
ἐξ
ἀκοῆς
ἡ
δὲ
ἀκοὴ
διὰ
ῥήματος
Χριστοῦ
Consequently,
faith comes
by
hearing,
and
hearing
by
the word
of Christ.
So then
faith
[cometh] by
hearing,
and
hearing
by
the word
of God.
18
Ἀλλὰ
λέγω
μὴ
οὐκ

Εἰς

ἐξῆλθεν
ὁ

αὐτῶν
καὶ

αὐτῶν
But
I ask,
did they not hear?
Indeed they did:
“Their
voice
has gone out
into
all
the
earth,
their
words
to
the
ends
of the
world.”
But
I say,
Have
they not
heard?
Yes verily,
their
sound
went
into
all
the earth,
and
their
words
unto
the ends
of the world.
19
Ἀλλὰ

Ἐγὼ

ἐπ’
ἔθνει

ὑμᾶς
I ask
instead,
did Israel
not
understand?
First,
Moses
says:
“I
will make you jealous
by those who are
not
a nation;
I will make you angry
by
a nation
without understanding.”
But
I say,
Did
not
Israel
know?
First
Moses
saith,
I
will provoke
you
to jealousy
by
[them that are] no
people,
[and] by
a foolish
nation
I will anger
you.
20
Ἠσαΐας
δὲ
ἀποτολμᾷ
καὶ
λέγει
Εὑρέθην
‹ἐν›
τοῖς
ἐμὲ
μὴ
ζητοῦσιν
ἐμφανὴς
ἐγενόμην
τοῖς
ἐμὲ
μὴ
ἐπερωτῶσιν
And
Isaiah
boldly
says:
“I was found
by
those who
did not seek
Me;
I revealed Myself
to those who
did not ask for
Me.”
But
Esaias
is very bold,
and
saith,
I was found
of them that sought
me
not;
I was made
manifest
unto them that asked
not
after
me.
21
Πρὸς

But
as for
Israel
he says:
“All
day long
I have held out
My
hands
to
a disobedient
and
obstinate
people.”
But
to
Israel
he saith,
All
day long
I have stretched forth
my
hands
unto
a disobedient
and
gainsaying
people.
