A Miktam
of David
for instruction.
When he fought
Aram-naharaim
and Aram-zobah,
and Joab
returned
and struck down
12,000
Edomites
in the Valley
of Salt.
You have rejected us,
O God;
You have broken us;
You have been angry;
restore
us!
{{To the chief Musician

when he strove
with Aramnaharaim
and with Aramzobah,
when Joab
returned,
and smote
of Edom
in the valley
of salt
twelve
thousand.
}} O God,
thou hast cast us off,
thou hast scattered
us, thou hast been displeased;
O turn thyself to us again.

You have shaken
the land

for
it is quaking.
Thou hast made the earth
to tremble;
thou hast broken
it: heal
the breaches
thereof; for it shaketh.

You have shown
Your people
hardship;
we are staggered
from the wine
You made us drink.
Thou hast shewed
thy people
hard things:
thou hast made us to drink
the wine
of astonishment.

from His sanctuary:
“I will triumph!

in his holiness;
I will rejoice,
I will divide
Shechem,
and mete out
the valley
of Succoth.
