1 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, The word of the LORD came to me: The word of the LORD also came unto me, saying, Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, The word of the LORD came to me:
2 “Son of man, you are living in a rebellious house. They have eyes to see but do not see, and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious house. “Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, who have eyes to see, but see not, who have ears to hear, but hear not, for they are a rebellious house. Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they <i>are</i> a rebellious house. “Son of man, you live in the midst of the rebellious house, who have eyes to see but do not see, ears to hear but do not hear; for they are a rebellious house. “Son of man, you are living among a rebellious people. They have eyes to see but do not see and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a rebellious people.
3 Therefore, son of man, pack your bags for exile. In broad daylight, set out from your place and go to another as they watch. Perhaps they will understand, though they are a rebellious house. As for you, son of man, prepare for yourself an exile’s baggage, and go into exile by day in their sight. You shall go like an exile from your place to another place in their sight. Perhaps they will understand, though they are a rebellious house. Therefore, thou son of man, prepare thee stuff for removing, and remove by day in their sight; and thou shalt remove from thy place to another place in their sight: it may be they will consider, though they <i>be</i> a rebellious house. So as for you, son of man, prepare for yourself baggage for exile and go into exile by day in their sight; that is, go into exile from your place to another place in their sight. Perhaps they will understand, though they are a rebellious house. “Therefore, son of man, pack your belongings for exile and in the daytime, as they watch, set out and go from where you are to another place. Perhaps they will understand, though they are a rebellious people.
4 Bring out your baggage for exile by day, as they watch. Then in the evening, as they watch, go out like those who go into exile. You shall bring out your baggage by day in their sight, as baggage for exile, and you shall go out yourself at evening in their sight, as those do who must go into exile. Then shalt thou bring forth thy stuff by day in their sight, as stuff for removing: and thou shalt go forth at even in their sight, as they that go forth into captivity. Bring your baggage out by day in their sight, as baggage for exile. Then you shall go out at evening in their sight, as those who are going into exile. During the daytime, while they watch, bring out your belongings packed for exile. Then in the evening, while they are watching, go out like those who go into exile.
5 As they watch, dig through the wall and carry your belongings out through it. In their sight dig through the wall, and bring your baggage out through it. Dig thou through the wall in their sight, and carry out thereby. Dig a hole through the wall in their sight and go out through it. While they watch, dig through the wall and take your belongings out through it.
6 And as they watch, lift your bags to your shoulder and take them out at dusk; cover your face so that you cannot see the land. For I have made you a sign to the house of Israel.” In their sight you shall lift the baggage upon your shoulder and carry it out at dusk. You shall cover your face that you may not see the land, for I have made you a sign for the house of Israel.” In their sight shalt thou bear <i>it</i> upon <i>thy</i> shoulders, <i>and</i> carry <i>it</i> forth in the twilight: thou shalt cover thy face, that thou see not the ground: for I have set thee <i>for</i> a sign unto the house of Israel. Load <i>the baggage</i> on <i>your</i> shoulder in their sight <i>and</i> carry <i>it</i> out in the dark. You shall cover your face so that you cannot see the land, for I have set you as a sign to the house of Israel.” Put them on your shoulder as they are watching and carry them out at dusk. Cover your face so that you cannot see the land, for I have made you a sign to the Israelites.”
7 So I did as I was commanded. I brought out my bags for exile by day, and in the evening I dug through the wall by hand. I took my belongings out at dusk, carrying them on my shoulder as they watched. And I did as I was commanded. I brought out my baggage by day, as baggage for exile, and in the evening I dug through the wall with my own hands. I brought out my baggage at dusk, carrying it on my shoulder in their sight. 9 “Son of man, hasn’t the rebellious house of Israel asked you, ‘What are you doing?’ “Son of man, has not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said to you, ‘What are you doing?’ Son of man, hath not the house of Israel, the rebellious house, said unto thee, What doest thou? “Son of man, has the house of Israel, the rebellious house, not said to you, ‘What are you doing?’ “Son of man, did not the Israelites, that rebellious people, ask you, ‘What are you doing?’
10 Tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘This burden concerns the prince in Jerusalem and all the house of Israel who are there.’ Say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: This oracle concerns the prince in Jerusalem and all the house of Israel who are in it.’ Say thou unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; This burden <i>concerneth</i> the prince in Jerusalem, and all the house of Israel that <i>are</i> among them. Say to them, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says: “This pronouncement <i>concerns</i> the prince in Jerusalem as well as all the house of Israel who are in it.”’ “Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: This prophecy concerns the prince in Jerusalem and all the Israelites who are there.’
11 You are to say, ‘I am a sign to you.’ Just as it happened here, so will it be done to them; they will go into exile as captives. Say, ‘I am a sign for you: as I have done, so shall it be done to them. They shall go into exile, into captivity.’ Say, I <i>am</i> your sign: like as I have done, so shall it be done unto them: they shall remove <i>and</i> go into captivity. Say, ‘I am a sign to you. Just as I have done, so it will be done to them; they will go into exile, into captivity.’ Say to them, ‘I am a sign to you.’ “As I have done, so it will be done to them. They will go into exile as captives.
12 And at dusk the prince among them will lift his bags to his shoulder and go out. They will dig through the wall to bring him out. He will cover his face so he cannot see the land. And the prince who is among them shall lift his baggage upon his shoulder at dusk, and shall go out. They shall dig through the wall to bring him out through it. He shall cover his face, that he may not see the land with his eyes. And the prince that <i>is</i> among them shall bear upon <i>his</i> shoulder in the twilight, and shall go forth: they shall dig through the wall to carry out thereby: he shall cover his face, that he see not the ground with <i>his</i> eyes. The prince who is among them will load <i>his baggage</i> on <i>his</i> shoulder in the dark and go out. They will dig a hole through the wall to bring <i>it</i> out through it. He will cover his face so that he cannot see the land with <i>his</i> eyes. “The prince among them will put his things on his shoulder at dusk and leave, and a hole will be dug in the wall for him to go through. 13 But I will spread My net over him, and he will be caught in My snare. I will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will not see it, and there he will die. And I will spread my net over him, and he shall be taken in my snare. And I will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans, yet he shall not see it, and he shall die there. My net also will I spread upon him, and he shall be taken in my snare: and I will bring him to Babylon <i>to</i> the land of the Chaldeans; yet shall he not see it, though he shall die there. I will also spread My net over him, and he will be caught in My net. And I will bring him to Babylon in the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will not see it, though he will die there. I will spread my net for him, and he will be caught in my snare; I will bring him to Babylonia, the land of the Chaldeans, but he will not see it, and there he will die.
14 And I will scatter to every wind all the attendants around him and all his troops, and I will draw a sword to chase after them. And I will scatter toward every wind all who are around him, his helpers and all his troops, and I will unsheathe the sword after them. And I will scatter toward every wind all that <i>are</i> about him to help him, and all his bands; and I will draw out the sword after them. And I will scatter to every wind all who are around him, his helpers and all his troops; and I will draw out a sword after them. I will scatter to the winds all those around him—his staff and all his troops—and I will pursue them with drawn sword.
15 And they will know that I am the LORD, when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them throughout the countries. And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them among the countries. And they shall know that I <i>am</i> the LORD, when I shall scatter them among the nations, and disperse them in the countries. So they will know that I am the LORD, when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them among the countries. “They will know that I am the LORD, when I disperse them among the nations and scatter them through the countries.
16 But I will spare a few of them from sword and famine and plague, so that in the nations to which they go, they can recount all their abominations. Then they will know that I am the LORD.” But I will let a few of them escape from the sword, from famine and pestilence, that they may declare all their abominations among the nations where they go, and may know that I am the LORD.” But I will leave a few men of them from the sword, from the famine, and from the pestilence; that they may declare all their abominations among the heathen whither they come; and they shall know that I <i>am</i> the LORD. But I will spare a few of them from the sword, the famine, and plague so that they may tell of all their abominations among the nations where they go, and may know that I am the LORD.” But I will spare a few of them from the sword, famine and plague, so that in the nations where they go they may acknowledge all their detestable practices. Then they will know that I am the LORD.”
17 Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me, saying, And the word of the LORD came to me: Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Moreover, the word of the LORD came to me, saying, The word of the LORD came to me:
18 “Son of man, eat your bread with trembling, and drink your water with quivering and anxiety. “Son of man, eat your bread with quaking, and drink water with trembling and with anxiety. Son of man, eat thy bread with quaking, and drink thy water with trembling and with carefulness; “Son of man, eat your bread with trembling, and drink your water with quivering and anxiety. “Son of man, tremble as you eat your food, and shudder in fear as you drink your water.
19 Then tell the people of the land that this is what the Lord GOD says about those living in Jerusalem and in the land of Israel: ‘They will eat their bread with anxiety and drink their water in dread, for their land will be stripped of everything in it because of the violence of all who dwell in it. And say to the people of the land, Thus says the Lord GOD concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel: They shall eat their bread with anxiety, and drink water in dismay. In this way her land will be stripped of all it contains, on account of the violence of all those who dwell in it. And say unto the people of the land, Thus saith the Lord GOD of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, <i>and</i> of the land of Israel; They shall eat their bread with carefulness, and drink their water with astonishment, that her land may be desolate from all that is therein, because of the violence of all them that dwell therein. Then say to the people of the land, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says concerning the inhabitants of Jerusalem in the land of Israel: “They will eat their bread with anxiety and drink their water with horror, because their land will be stripped of its fullness on account of the violence of all who live in it. Say to the people of the land: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says about those living in Jerusalem and in the land of Israel: They will eat their food in anxiety and drink their water in despair, for their land will be stripped of everything in it because of the violence of all who live there.
20 The inhabited cities will be laid waste, and the land will become desolate. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’ ” And the inhabited cities shall be laid waste, and the land shall become a desolation; and you shall know that I am the LORD.” And the cities that are inhabited shall be laid waste, and the land shall be desolate; and ye shall know that I <i>am</i> the LORD. The inhabited cities will be in ruins, and the land will be a desolation. So you will know that I am the LORD.”’” The inhabited towns will be laid waste and the land will be desolate. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’”
21 Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, And the word of the LORD came to me: And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, The word of the LORD came to me:
22 “Son of man, what is this proverb that you have in the land of Israel: ‘The days go by, and every vision fails’? “Son of man, what is this proverb that you have about the land of Israel, saying, ‘The days grow long, and every vision comes to nothing’? Son of man, what <i>is</i> that proverb <i>that</i> ye have in the land of Israel, saying, The days are prolonged, and every vision faileth? “Son of man, what is this proverb you <i>people</i> have about the land of Israel, saying, ‘The days are long, and every vision fails’? “Son of man, what is this proverb you have in the land of Israel: ‘The days go by and every vision comes to nothing’?
23 Therefore tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will put an end to this proverb, and in Israel they will no longer recite it.’ But say to them: ‘The days are at hand when every vision will be fulfilled. Tell them therefore, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: I will put an end to this proverb, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel.’ But say to them, The days are near, and the fulfillment of every vision. Tell them therefore, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will make this proverb to cease, and they shall no more use it as a proverb in Israel; but say unto them, The days are at hand, and the effect of every vision. Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says: “I will put an end to this proverb so that they will no longer use it as a proverb in Israel.” But tell them, “The days are approaching as well as the fulfillment of every vision. Say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am going to put an end to this proverb, and they will no longer quote it in Israel.’ Say to them, ‘The days are near when every vision will be fulfilled.
24 For there will be no more FALSE visions or flattering divinations within the house of Israel, For there shall be no more any false vision or flattering divination within the house of Israel. For there shall be no more any vain vision nor flattering divination within the house of Israel. For there will no longer be any false vision or deceptive divination within the house of Israel. For there will be no more false visions or flattering divinations among the people of Israel.
25 because I, the LORD, will speak whatever word I speak, and it will be fulfilled without delay. For in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak a message and bring it to pass, declares the Lord GOD.’ ” For I am the LORD; I will speak the word that I will speak, and it will be performed. It will no longer be delayed, but in your days, O rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it, declares the Lord GOD.” For I <i>am</i> the LORD: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall be no more prolonged: for in your days, O rebellious house, will I say the word, and will perform it, saith the Lord GOD. For I the LORD will speak whatever word I speak, and it will be performed. It will no longer be delayed, for in your days, you rebellious house, I will speak the word and perform it,” declares the Lord GOD.’” But I the LORD will speak what I will, and it shall be fulfilled without delay. For in your days, you rebellious people, I will fulfill whatever I say, declares the Sovereign LORD.’”
26 Furthermore, the word of the LORD came to me, saying, And the word of the LORD came to me: Again the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Furthermore, the word of the LORD came to me, saying, The word of the LORD came to me:
27 “Son of man, take note that the house of Israel is saying, ‘The vision that he sees is for many years from now; he prophesies about the distant future.’ “Son of man, behold, they of the house of Israel say, ‘The vision that he sees is for many days from now, and he prophesies of times far off.’ Son of man, behold, <i>they of</i> the house of Israel say, The vision that he seeth <i>is</i> for many days <i>to come</i>, and he prophesieth of the times <i>that are</i> far off. “Son of man, behold, the house of Israel is saying, ‘The vision that he sees is for many years <i>from now,</i> and he prophesies of times far off.’ “Son of man, the Israelites are saying, ‘The vision he sees is for many years from now, and he prophesies about the distant future.’
28 Therefore tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘None of My words will be delayed any longer. The message I speak will be fulfilled, declares the Lord GOD.’ ” Therefore say to them, Thus says the Lord GOD: None of my words will be delayed any longer, but the word that I speak will be performed, declares the Lord GOD.” Therefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; There shall none of my words be prolonged any more, but the word which I have spoken shall be done, saith the Lord GOD. Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Lord GOD says: “None of My words will be delayed any longer. Whatever word I speak will be performed,”’” declares the Lord GOD. “Therefore say to them, ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: None of my words will be delayed any longer; whatever I say will be fulfilled, declares the Sovereign LORD.’”
