Give thanks to the LORD! Call on his name! Make known his accomplishments among the nations! 1Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; proclaim his deeds among the peoples.
Sing to him! Make music to him! Tell about all his miraculous deeds! 2Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell about all his wondrous works!
Boast about his holy name! Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! 3Honor his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
Seek the LORD and the strength he gives! Seek his presence continually! 4Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.
Recall the miraculous deeds he performed, his mighty acts and the judgments he decreed, 5Remember the wondrous works he has done, his wonders, and the judgments he has pronounced,
O children of Abraham, God's servant, you descendants of Jacob, God's chosen ones! 6you offspring of Abraham his servant, Jacob's descendants--his chosen ones.
He is the LORD our God; he carries out judgment throughout the earth. 7He is the LORD our God; his judgments govern the whole earth.
He always remembers his covenantal decree, the promise he made to a thousand generations--8He remembers his covenant forever, the promise he ordained for a thousand generations--
the promise he made to Abraham, the promise he made by oath to Isaac! 9the covenant he made with Abraham, swore to Isaac,
He gave it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as a lasting promise, 10and confirmed to Jacob as a decree and to Israel as a permanent covenant:
saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance." 11"I will give the land of Canaan to you as your inherited portion."
When they were few in number, just a very few, and resident aliens within it, 12When they were few in number, very few indeed, and resident aliens in Canaan,
they wandered from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another. 13wandering from nation to nation and from one kingdom to another,
He let no one oppress them; he disciplined kings for their sake, 14he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their behalf:
saying, "Don't touch my chosen ones! Don't harm my prophets!" 15"Do not touch my anointed ones, or harm my prophets."
He called down a famine upon the earth; he cut off all the food supply. 16He called down famine against the land and destroyed the entire food supply.
He sent a man ahead of them--Joseph was sold as a servant. 17He had sent a man ahead of them--Joseph, who was sold as a slave.
The shackles hurt his feet; his neck was placed in an iron collar, 18They hurt his feet with shackles; his neck was put in an iron collar.
until the time when his prediction came true. The LORD's word proved him right. 19Until the time his prediction came true, the word of the LORD tested him.
The king authorized his release; the ruler of nations set him free. 20The king sent for him and released him; the ruler of peoples set him free.
He put him in charge of his palace, and made him manager of all his property, 21He made him master of his household, ruler over all his possessions--
giving him authority to imprison his officials and to teach his advisers. 22binding his officials at will and instructing his elders.
Israel moved to Egypt; Jacob lived for a time in the land of Ham. 23Then Israel went to Egypt; Jacob lived as an alien in the land of Ham.
The LORD made his people very fruitful, and made them more numerous than their enemies. 24The LORD made his people very fruitful; he made them more numerous than their foes,
He caused them to hate his people, and to mistreat his servants. 25whose hearts he turned to hate his people and to deal deceptively with his servants.
He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron, whom he had chosen. 26He sent Moses his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen.
They executed his miraculous signs among them, and his amazing deeds in the land of Ham. 27They performed his miraculous signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.
He made it dark; they did not disobey his orders. 28He sent darkness, and it became dark--for did they not defy his commands?
He turned their water into blood, and killed their fish. 29He turned their water into blood and caused their fish to die.
Their land was overrun by frogs, which even got into the rooms of their kings. 30Their land was overrun with frogs, even in their royal chambers.
He ordered flies to come; gnats invaded their whole territory. 31He spoke, and insects came--gnats throughout their country.
He sent hail along with the rain; there was lightning in their land. 32He gave them hail for rain, and lightning throughout their land.
He destroyed their vines and fig trees, and broke the trees throughout their territory. 33He struck their vines and fig trees and shattered the trees of their territory.
He ordered locusts to come, innumerable grasshoppers. 34He spoke, and locusts came--young locusts without number.
They ate all the vegetation in their land, and devoured the crops of their fields. 35They devoured all the vegetation in their land and consumed the produce of their land.
He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of their reproductive power. 36He struck all the firstborn in their land, all their first progeny.
He brought his people out enriched with silver and gold; none of his tribes stumbled. 37Then he brought Israel out with silver and gold, and no one among his tribes stumbled.
Egypt was happy when they left, for they were afraid of them. 38Egypt was glad when they left, for the dread of Israel had fallen on them.
He spread out a cloud for a cover, and provided a fire to light up the night. 39He spread a cloud as a covering and gave a fire to light up the night.
They asked for food, and he sent quails; he satisfied them with food from the sky. 40They asked, and he brought quail and satisfied them with bread from heaven.
He opened up a rock and water flowed out; a river ran through dry regions. 41He opened a rock, and water gushed out; it flowed like a stream in the desert.
Yes, he remembered the sacred promise he made to Abraham his servant. 42For he remembered his holy promise to Abraham his servant.
When he led his people out, they rejoiced; his chosen ones shouted with joy. 43He brought his people out with rejoicing, his chosen ones with shouts of joy.
He handed the territory of nations over to them, and they took possession of what other peoples had produced, 44He gave them the lands of the nations, and they inherited what other peoples had worked for.
so that they might keep his commands and obey his laws. Praise the LORD! 45All this happened so that they might keep his statutes and obey his instructions. Hallelujah!
