King James BibleNET Bible
O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.1Give thanks to the LORD! Call on his name! Make known his accomplishments among the nations!
Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.2Sing to him! Make music to him! Tell about all his miraculous deeds!
Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.3Boast about his holy name! Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!
Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.4Seek the LORD and the strength he gives! Seek his presence continually!
Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;5Recall the miraculous deeds he performed, his mighty acts and the judgments he decreed,
O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.6O children of Abraham, God's servant, you descendants of Jacob, God's chosen ones!
He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.7He is the LORD our God; he carries out judgment throughout the earth.
He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.8He always remembers his covenantal decree, the promise he made to a thousand generations--
Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;9the promise he made to Abraham, the promise he made by oath to Isaac!
And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant:10He gave it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as a lasting promise,
Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance:11saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance."
When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it.12When they were few in number, just a very few, and resident aliens within it,
When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people;13they wandered from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another.
He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;14He let no one oppress them; he disciplined kings for their sake,
Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.15saying, "Don't touch my chosen ones! Don't harm my prophets!"
Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.16He called down a famine upon the earth; he cut off all the food supply.
He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant:17He sent a man ahead of them--Joseph was sold as a servant.
Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron:18The shackles hurt his feet; his neck was placed in an iron collar,
Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.19until the time when his prediction came true. The LORD's word proved him right.
The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free.20The king authorized his release; the ruler of nations set him free.
He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance:21He put him in charge of his palace, and made him manager of all his property,
To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom.22giving him authority to imprison his officials and to teach his advisers.
Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.23Israel moved to Egypt; Jacob lived for a time in the land of Ham.
And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies.24The LORD made his people very fruitful, and made them more numerous than their enemies.
He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants.25He caused them to hate his people, and to mistreat his servants.
He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen.26He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron, whom he had chosen.
They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham.27They executed his miraculous signs among them, and his amazing deeds in the land of Ham.
He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word.28He made it dark; they did not disobey his orders.
He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.29He turned their water into blood, and killed their fish.
Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings.30Their land was overrun by frogs, which even got into the rooms of their kings.
He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts.31He ordered flies to come; gnats invaded their whole territory.
He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land.32He sent hail along with the rain; there was lightning in their land.
He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts.33He destroyed their vines and fig trees, and broke the trees throughout their territory.
He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number,34He ordered locusts to come, innumerable grasshoppers.
And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.35They ate all the vegetation in their land, and devoured the crops of their fields.
He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength.36He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of their reproductive power.
He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes.37He brought his people out enriched with silver and gold; none of his tribes stumbled.
Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them.38Egypt was happy when they left, for they were afraid of them.
He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night.39He spread out a cloud for a cover, and provided a fire to light up the night.
The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven.40They asked for food, and he sent quails; he satisfied them with food from the sky.
He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river.41He opened up a rock and water flowed out; a river ran through dry regions.
For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant.42Yes, he remembered the sacred promise he made to Abraham his servant.
And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness:43When he led his people out, they rejoiced; his chosen ones shouted with joy.
And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people;44He handed the territory of nations over to them, and they took possession of what other peoples had produced,
That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD.45so that they might keep his commands and obey his laws. Praise the LORD!
